The Mix is a VIBE! Very vibrant, lively, and lit. Reservations on a weekend are highly encouraged as they were packed the entire time we were there. The food was pretty good, and my friend whom I was visiting stated that this place was the best food she's had since moving to Boston. I imagine this place being a go-to on a Celtics game day. If you're in Boston, check it out!

This past weekend while visiting Boston, my family took us to their favorite place to eat and vibe!! The mix was definitely a vibe with great music, food , drinks , and atmosphere! The Dj was amazing! I had the fried salmon slides and they were absolutely delicious! My husband had the Chicken and Waffles which he loved! My cousins had fried wings, French Toast, scrambled eggs with cheese and the home potatoes they said it was great also! I didn't give 5 stars because we did have an issue with the drinks which the waitress didn't communicate they were out of dry ice we ordered certain drinks for the aesthetic! Also all the drinks were served in different glasses we asked the waitress she said they didn't have clean glasses so they have to use the glasses the can for drinks! Other than that the place was nice and I can't wait to visit again!

I have been to the Mix several times since their opening this year. This place is young and hip and definately is a vibe. The green tea shots are offered as a set of five shots and are so delicious. The burger was alright. I also went for brunch with children and they enjoyed the large pancakes. The chicken and waffles had a granola on it which I was a bit leary about, however, it was surprising delicious. If you're planning on going to brunch on Sundays the atmosphere changes the later it gets in the day. So you decide which side of the vibe you're ready for. You're able to pay with the card machine right in front of you which is a plus. The only downfall is the waitress stands there, which feels like peer pressure, not allowing time for you to view the bill. 20% gratuity is automatically added to the bill and there is an option to leave additional tip. The Mix offers private events, catering, karaoke, and special events. They truly brought downtown uptown!

Good vibes, good music, drinks, great service. Enter door to view a split set-up. Left side is the bar side with high tops and the right side has low tables. The Mix is great for celebrating. One inside It makes you feel like you're on vacation. Casual attire. On street parking if you get lucky. There is a small parking lot (~16 cars) across the street from the church. A 3 min walk across. Otherwise take an Uber. Perfect location for meet friends or just grab drinks & a bite.

Parking here is very minimal. The service was good, we sat at the bar though- so i cannot speak for the restaurant. The food was good, but what I got was basic chicken and waffles. The music is way too loud, especially during the day. I couldn't hear my friend at all. It's a restaurant. Before 7 the music should be at a level you can hear people speak. But the music was good! Lots of variety.

WoooooW! Amazing amazing let's say amazing. My friends and I went there for brunch and then went back for dinner. The chicken wings dry rub, lobster Mac and cheese, cat fish nuggets and grits and shrimp. Everything was seasoned to perfection, tasty and the music was on point. Sometimes batter is seasoned not the meat. This was perfect all the way to the bone. Def a place I will be visiting often. It also was so refreshing to see that staff were very friendly and knew what to get. Wish they had music outside but that's a minor. If you haven't gone - visit soon, definitely worth the trip.

I went to The Mix for the first time this past weekend. They were doing a brunch party, so there were tickets to attend. It was a little confusing because when I arrived it was still early, and not that many people were there. I'm not sure how they differentiate people coming just for brunch and those who are there for the event. They have a pretty limited menu, but I got their chicken and waffles. I liked that the waffles were cut down into fourths. It made it easier to eat, and I liked how they added granola bits to the to the waffles. I never thought to do that, but it added extra crunch and flavor. They had chicken tenders instead of drumsticks or breasts and I actually prefer tenders, so was happy with it. My friend ordered salmon sliders and she said they were good. We both had their mimosas for drinks, and I will say their prices were decent considering drink prices in Boston. I had a strawberry and passion fruit one. My opinion is the passion fruit one was better and seemed a little stronger. I liked the space, and thought there was plenty of room for dining. The DJ played good music, lots of throwbacks, but the music was too loud. My friend and I were right by the DJ booth and could barely hear each other. A couple people asked to be moved because of how loud the music was. I also had to use the bathroom while there, and I was frustrated that there wasn't soap in the dispenser, so they should be sure to check on this. All in all, not a bad experience. If I lived in Boston, I'd probably give them another try.

I'd been wanting to try this place after having the chef's catered food at an event last year. I randomly decided to get a to-go order. I got the Lobster BLT with no bacon, candied yams, Mac and cheese, and fries. The sandwich was delicious especially with the special sauce. The Mac and candied yams combo (iykyk) was good too. I wished they gave more macaroni. And the fries weren't anything special, just fries. I ordered to-go but the service could have been so much better and kind. I'm hopeful it'll get better upon my next visit.

First of all shot out to the staff for finding my party of three a table even though we didn't have a reservation had to wait 15 minutes. The atmosphere was amazing music was not overbearing and love the seating was able to watch the basketball tournament while eating drinking and talking. The food was amazing the shrimp and grits was out of this world, the home fries were delicious I have never had potatoes seasoned just right and so tender not overcooked or undercooked and the pancakes were so scrumptious. I personally told the owners I will definitely be back for the dinner this time the brunch was a time to remember

Not the best idea to have a mocktail and cocktail named the same exact way.

I made reservations online and it was honored upon walking in to the restaurant. No wait at all and noticed that they put reserved signs on the table. It was around 4 on a Friday so we caught it before it got busy. The bbq steak tips were delicious and tender! Collards were nicely seasoned, and Mac and cheese was decent (didn't care for all the bread crumbs on it). Sweet potato corn bread was good but the glaze was completely melted into a watery/butter form. Sweet and spicy wings were just ok. I didn't care for the sauce and would probably go with a fried chicken instead. The not so good: It was freezing inside. I had to keep my jacket on. Not comfortable at all. Server didn't provide best service and there were times we had to ask other servers for things. I ordered a drink off the still in the mix menu which is basically a mocktail (though they still label it cocktail, that should be changed). I pointed to it on my phone and was sure to say the still in the mix- mix sparkler drink when telling the server what I want. I went over each ingredient listed and told her I would like all those but for the soda water I will only take a splash because I can't have carbonated beverages. I get the drink and it has alcohol in it‍. I was NOT supposed to be drinking!! Our server hadn't returned for a while so I had to tell someone else about the situation and she corrected and communicated with our server. My server came back and said you ordered the mix sampler. So I told her yes I did and showed her what I pointed to. Her response was that the menu changed and she wasn't familiar with the drink that didn't have alcohol. Please rename your drinks to distinguish the mocktail from cocktail and label it as a mocktail. Check time! I get the check after having great food but subpar service. 20% is included which I knew from looking online BUT here's the part that made me chuckle. The bill came out to $130 with 20% tip included (my friend ordered food that I didn't include in the review). The server just presents the slip with total cost. I give her the $150 and she said thank you are you all set? I said no you can bring me the change and the itemized receipt and I will tip from there. She brings it back and as I thought the 20% was included so why she thought I would give her an additional $30 is beyond me. Lastly, I was charged like $15 for the drink though it was supposed to be the mocktail for $7. You know I mentioned it and waited for my $9. Food 7/10. Service in general. 5/10 due to experience with that specific waiter I don't think she was intentionally negligent but she needs to work on her skills and know her menu. Everyone else was nice and attentive . Summary: Good food but please turn up the heat, be more attentive to the tables, know your menu, and don't try to get more out of the tip unless someone decides to give more on their own.

EXTRA,EXTRA ! Finally Boston has an Adult place to BRUNCH, I am only speaking of BRUNCH for Now, I will go back to try them at lunch & dinner service. NOW let's talk about the ambiance: the inside was very welcoming and the staff was very friendly I was actually seated by one of the owners and his energetic personality was similar to the vibe of the establishment. LET'S talk eats and beverages I had a expresso martini and it was fair I would have liked the glass to be drizzled with chocolate expresso syrup however it was nice flavor. I enjoyed the chicken and waffles, also at the table was a side of grits, fried shrimp and pancakes . The waffles were crispy on the outside and melt in your mouth delicious they were topped with fresh berries and powdered sugar, the chicken was well seasoned and the crunch was amazingly delicious the cheese grits were flavored to perfection. I actually had an opportunity to speak with the Chef, and his southern roots definitely shows in his cooking which this southern lady enjoyed! I will visit again #themix.

They were the dark horse that I never would have thought about ordering normally. Biscuits for dinner? Eh. But they were delicious and lighter than expected and the pimento cheese I could have ate by the spoonfuls. The oysters were clean and delicious. Everything you hope to have from Northeast oysters especially being from Texas where most of the places here serve Gulf oysters that don't even come close to comparing. I could have drank the mignonette. The pimento mac n cheese was on point and flavorful (and again that pimento cheese, yum). The wagyu burgers were so good. The burger was tender and flavorful, the bread was soft and light and slightly sweet, and the onion ring added a great texture to the mix. Think of a amped up western burger. The ambiance was a cool vibe yet a home feel. We were seated quickly but it took awhile for anyone to acknowledge us. Service was good once it started and the food came out quickly. If we ever make it back to Boston, it will definitely be on our list to revisit. Great late dinner spot. Simple foods done right. (Oh, and the drinks were delicious. I wanted to try them all. Our waitress Bonnie was a gem! She had great recommendations and was very knowledgeable about the menu. The cornbread, I can't say enough about how amazing it was and the cheese on the bottom of the skillet, what a treat! The drinks were amazing. Bonnie helped my husband pick his drinks because he was unsure about the offerings and her picks were great! The chicken wings were cooked perfectly. The macaroni and cheese, don't ask questions about it just get it and don't be surprised that as it starts to cool, it tastes even better than when it first hits the table. Hubs had the pulled pork sandwich which was a big hit. Collard greens had a bit too much vinegar for me it, but I think it just needed some sugar and hot sauce. The mashed potatoes and gravy was fire. Whatever they boil those potatoes in is working!. Overall it was a great meal. The only complaint, if I have to have one is that the playlist in the kitchen was a lot better than it was in the restaurant. We definitely will come back again!! Unfortunately, the experience was underwhelming overall. I ordered the signature gumbo and was very disappointed. It was extremely watery, heavily herb-flavored, and lacked the rich, traditional New Orleans-style roux I was expecting. For $25, the portion was also disappointing and only 2 shrimp, about 4 pieces of sausage, and one small piece of lump crab. The rice paired with it was actually flavorful and one of the better parts of the dish, but it couldn't save the gumbo itself. The Vermont butter biscuits were one of the highlights, absolutely delicious when served warm. They were soft, buttery, and flavorful. My only complaint is that the portion was too small. The brisket was tender, but it was served extremely cold, and the BBQ sauce that came with it was also ice cold, which really took away from the dish. The mac and cheese tasted exactly like frozen Stouffer's and was honestly the biggest disappointment of the meal. The fried pickles had good flavor, though I ordered them expecting more okra in the mix and there was barely any. The potato salad was surprisingly excellent, well-balanced, creamy, and one of the best things we tried. The cowboy steak bites had potential but were extremely overcooked, oily, and lacked flavor. Definitely not something I would order again. Service was inattentive throughout our visit. No one checked in to ask how the food was, remove menus, or acknowledge that I barely touched my gumbo. I had ordered two bowls, and only after bringing it to the manager's attention was it corrected. The atmosphere was another downside. The music was so loud that it was hard to hear the people at my table. We specifically made a 3:30 reservation because the website stated live music would end at that time until later in the evening, but that wasn't the case. The strawberry guava margarita was very good, but overall this wasn't the birthday brunch experience I had hoped for. Between the inconsistent food, inattentive service, and overall lack of attention to detail, I don't see myself returning.

Salty Pig Pizza: A pizza with the same name as the restaurant! Who was the genius who came up with the idea of salted pig and beer caramel? It's brilliant! The salted pork appears to include Prosciutto di Parma from Langirano, Prosciutto Cotto, and Salcissia. Baking rendered the prosciutto's fat, which blends with the caramel to create a beautiful golden syrup that flows across the pizza's surface. The prosciutto was savory, oily, and tender; the minced salcissia retains its coarse texture and rich meaty aroma; the caramel was sweet and mellow with a honey-like sweetness, forming the top, middle, and base notes respectively. The arugula was slightly warmed, losing its astringent and raw taste while maintaining its crisp texture, helped to cut through the richness together with the Parmesan cheese powder. The crust was crispy, while the inside the dough was soft and chewy. The cooking time and seasoning were all just right, and the restaurant's proud wooden oven added a charming smoky flavor. Affogato: I had high expectations, but it was just okay. The espresso was too sour, and the vanilla ice cream couldn't balance it out. The chicken was dry, under-seasoned, and surprisingly small--more like an afterthought than a centerpiece. Soul food should be rich, flavorful, and comforting. This wasn't! The greens were another miss. No depth, no richness, and completely lacking the traditional pot liquor that gives them their signature flavor. It felt like a stripped-down version of what should be a staple dish. The only bright spot was the candied yams--they actually had flavor and were enjoyable. What's frustrating is the gap between reputation and experience. When a place has awards and hype, you expect authenticity, quality, and consistency. This didn't deliver on any of that. Overall, I wouldn't return. There are too many places doing this food the right way to spend money here again.

I was craving some soul food in the Boston area and I found The Coast Cafe on tik tok. Let's just…read moresay I was super happy I did! This place is super cozy with delicious food in Cambridge. I got the mixed chicken plate with Mac n cheese and candied yams. The chicken was very good--fried very well with great seasoning, a crispy exterior, and juicy interior. The Mac was very gooey and cheesy. And the yams were excellent as well. I thought the texture of the yams was near perfect--not too hard but not too soft and mushy either. Also not overly sweet. I also felt like the price was very fair. A lot of times, similar entrees can cost near $30, but this was just over $20 which was super reasonable especially for the quality. The staff was very kind and friendly as well. Keep in mind that the interior is quite small, so plan ahead on whether you're going to eat inside or take it to go. But overall I'd recommend this to anyone in the area, and I'd love to go back!
