We arrived around lunch time on a Saturday afternoon and there was plenty of seating available. I always like old school diners with bar and booth seating. The diner is family owned and they're from Hong Kong...it was nice speaking to the wife in Cantonese, she was so friendly! Service was attentive and our coffee was constantly topped up. We ordered the bacon & cheddar hashbrown stack and cafe hash. I loved the hashbrowns, especially on the first dish where it was soaked in bacon oil with hollandaise on top. Prices are not bad. We ordered 2 brunch dishes, a coffee, and a hamburger with fries and gravy to go and our total was $55. I think my husband and I will become regulars here. read more

Awesome neighbourhood spot. They opened slightly after their posted hours on Saturday morning but it was an energetic community vibe. Owners are a husband wife team who are Cantonese speaking but can speak English as well. From what I heard the diner has a well-maintained retro vibe so they do film productions in it occasionally. For food I ordered the Denver Omelette and a coffee. My coffee was always topped up and the wait staff checked on me and others often - I didn't see them stop much except to gossip with their regulars about the recent film production. Food was well-priced and OK. Parking is plentiful right out front which shares a parking lot with a number of small businesses. Overall a great place I'm going to continue supporting. read more

Food is decent and customer service is alright but the fact that they are never open when they are supposed to be is annoying. Says it opens at 9:30 am but when we arrive at 9:40/10 am they are still closed. This is the third time we have come for breakfast and the place isn't open. read more

Old school diner which has been around for decades. It mainly serves the morning and lunch crowd as it closes at 5 pm and is not open on Sunday. I had the super burger which had bacon and fried egg in it. It was served with crinkle cut fries. The burger was ok, nothing super or special about it. There was not much of a service either. Basically a mom and pop shop with the pop cooking and mom serving. Unfortunately after bringing us the food, the mom disappeared. So I could not even ask for a refill of water. Old school diner in the Parkrest Plaza strip mall. By old school I mean authentic 1960s old. 1962 to be exact. Parking is plentiful in the strip mall lot. The place is like a time machine. The owners claim that the interior has basically never been updated, and I believe them. With that said, the walls and decorations are in immaculate condition. This place can easily be used as a movie set. Current owners (mom and pop) have had the place since the mid 2000s. Very friendly people. Always nice to chat with people to hear their story. The place serves old school diner food at mostly old school prices. As of the time of writing, a burger and fries is around $9. They have sandwiches, soup, fish and chips, burgers, breakfast, and even some food court style Chinese food. The daily special (cheeseburger with fries and chicken noodle soup) hit the spot. The soup is probably something out of a can and the fries are probably out of a bag from the supermarket next door, but everything was tasty. The burger bun was crisp. Tastes like home cooking. The only thing stopping me from coming back more often is their extremely short hours. The place closes at 1700 and on Sundays. Park Crest Diner is considered retro because of the decor and the furnishings, but it's not on purpose, as I think that's how it's been for all these years, and it's a testament to the current owners that they've cared for it as it is that it's lasted this long. The breakfast and lunch fare, as well as the Chinese Canadian food is always solid. I've never had a bad meal here. The burger and fries is prepared with great care, as if you're stopping in at close relations and they're looking after you. Park Crest Diner is a cute little old school casual restaurant tucked in a little plaza near Holdom Station. I went in for brunch with a friend. We ordered the same dish: hot cakes, but I got hash brown on the side and she got toast and fresh fruits. They have self serve hot chocolate, tea and coffee. They're quite standard. My hot coco tasted good, it's one of the better powdered hot chocolate sachets out there. I liked my hot cakes (pancakes) with lots of syrup. The server was really nice and asked me if I wanted one less pancake because they have big servings and I am a petite woman. It was nice that she was quite worried that I might waste food, but she doesn't know how much I can eat. My friend didn't like her toast. She said that it's very hard and dry. I can't believe I never heard of this place. Hits the spot if your looking for an old school diner. I get the breakfast every time, a lot of diners close at 3, but this place closes at 5 which I like. One time they ran out of hash browns so they subbed for fries which were good. I have always wanted to go to this diner ever since I was a little kid. It reminded me of going to a 1950's-1960's diner. I basically ordered their burger and fries. It did come with soup and the potatoes in the soup were not Campbells, since Campbells would not show big sized potatoes. The burger was handmade for sure because it did not look like burger patties from the Krusty Krab. Fries were decent. They also have Chinese food here due to the fact they speak Cantonese. If I defined this place by food presentation or extreme customer service I'm sure it would be two stars less - however.... Starting with how much of a jewel this place actually is.... Sucks it's cash only.... They get bumper busy - especially so between 11:30-2pm where they don't allow singles to sit alone in the booths. I came here with a friend on a friday morning at 10:30am and ordered hotcakes (why aren't they called pancakes!?) which wasn't indicates but comes in a three stack for like $3.95. If you want meat (I asked for sausage) you pay per sausage I think. It comes lickety split but bare boned. Two margarine packs on the side. Unnamed syrup. They do refill your coffee cup but seemed to only once when my cup was full (doh). My friend said you can help yourself to the coffee station diagonal to where we sat so I relieved my empty cup of its emptiness. Poor thing. My friend had toast, three eggs and sausage. They don't seem to bring you the bill so don't wait for it to arrive - simply finish chowing abd meander over to the cash register. Once I ordered and started digging into my *Pancakes* I noticed the scookim (almost spell checked to a naughty word) lunch specials - woah. Sweet and sour chicken over chow me in $6.50. Damn. My family loves coming here, it's got that old fashioned cheap dinner feel. The food is less than great but better than ok. They homemake some things, the fries are from frozen but oddly enough they tast pretty good. The gravy is super yummy. We also like that we can order a poutine(grated cheese not curds) and a spring roll at the same time. They have great breakfast. They have daily specials that comes with some good soup. The prices are very reasonable. They also serve some Chinese dishes. If you are going to eat here bring cash and come before 5:00, they close early. Went here for a quick breakfast with my husband before we headed out of town. Wanted something simple, good and fast. The food is simple, not even a small simple garnish, but it is not greasy and tastes okay. The Service is another thing - I know that in some oriental cultures the man is fed first, but this is not the norm here. My husband had eggs and bacon and I wanted eggs and sausages. Nothing out of the ordinary in our order. He had finished his breakfast before I got mine - not acceptable service. I asked why my order was so late, and was told that they use only one pan for breakfasts. This makes no sense!! Make sure you have enough cash to cover your order - they do not take debit or credit cards. Usually, banks are ready to give you another way to collect money from the customer unless your credit rating is incredibly bad. Oh and if you relish sitting in a restaurant where the staff are constantly bickering in their own language then this is the place for you.
