Just say NO! I lived in a unit in Park Glen managed by negligent owners and then property manager who charged me $200 for each repair. I reported a water leak in the building that was not addressed until a County inspection forced them to do a cheap repair. The owners and manager made several attempts to retalitory evict me for complaining. Moreover, there's no designated parking in front of building, vehicle towing, and black mold in the storage areas. We lived here for 5 years and really rarely had the issues with parking that people are saying. Parking in general is an issue in Arlington but unless youre coming home repeatedly at 2 or 3am you wont likely have these issues. The bus system is so good on Columbia Pike that fewer and fewer residents have cars. The location off the trail is phenomenal. The courtyard is great. And the pool is fantastic to have. Often there is no one there during the weekdays - maybe a couple of adults. Management has also changed and is substantially improved. We really miss living here. read more

Residents are friendly people. They stick to themselves and don't cause trouble. When you talk with them, they tend to be nice young professional couples, or retirees. Either way, they good people. Location is good, close to the Pentagon, DC, Shirlington, and Ballston. This is the best aspect of the complex. The grounds are attractive with a lot of grass and trees. With a county park and bicycle path alongside The buildings are 1950s apartments converted to Condo in 1984. So, they are starting to get run-down. The buildings were originally solid brick and concrete construction. However, maintenance has not been tightly maintained, and major problems wait to get fixed. Sometimes, the tenants get Arlington County Code Enforcement involved to motivate repairs. Condo fees of $450/month are paid by the owners. Water and garbage is part of that fee. Electricity is the tenants responsibility. Units can get pretty cold during the winter. Parking is the biggest problem. You get one parking-pass, but there are more condos than parking lot spaces. You also get one county Zone Pass for the public street alongside the edge of the complex. But, that is usually full also. After dark, you will have to drive in circles roughly 30 minutes hoping someone moves out of a parking space. Also, no handicapped parking spaces. read more

Not too bad of a place to live if you never go out or have a social life ever! The parking here is absolutely horrible! If you come home past 7:30pm, you will not find parking. The street parking sucks especially since APAH and the Community Center opened. The condo office is non-responsive and basically ineffective. We got our 2015 parking passes in March. They placed dumpsters in parking spaces by building 708, thus eliminating two much needed parking spaces screwing tennants. You will spend hours trying to find a parking spot that you paid for. Don't even think of going out on the weekend with your car because there will be no parking at dusk. Be prepared to get nastygrams from the condo board on various subjects such as setting a cardboard box outside of a overflowing recycling dumpster, too big of a doormat for your door, grilling in the courtyard with gasp - a small propane grill! Oh horrid! The laundry system is a joke as well. They changed over from coin to this card system that's horrible! Took over a good amount of time to set up account online, since it takes so many steps just to add money to your account. The system sucks. The old quarter machines worked perfectly fine. The old washers were bigger, cheaper, and the dryers actually worked for the most part. The neighbors at least in my building and the adjacent one are friendly and easygoing and the landscaping is nice and maintained. I rented for the creek and scenery, but don't go on the W&OD trail, as the cyclists are obnoxious and act as if they own the trail. Just know what you are getting yourself into. It was a nice starter place, but I'm looking forward to moving into my new home where I don't have to worry about whether I am going to have a parking space or not when I come home from a date or seeing my friends. read more

I like my unit and the majority of my neighbors. However, parking is impossible and a couple members of the board are incredibly condescending. On several occasions, I believe they were attempting to bully me. The board is ineffective and seems to take suggestions for improvements as person attacks. As a long term resident, I love the mature trees and park like feel of this 1940s garden condominium complex as well as the proximity to bike paths and county parkland (directly across the street) and easy transit along Columbia Pike. The neighborhood was recently zoned for resident parking to help alieviate the tight parking. Forums, meetings and volunteer opportunities give all residents a voice in management. Only 12 apartments per building make it easy to meet your neighbors. read more

DO NOT BUY HERE. If you rent, you'll be okay since it is temporary and some buildings and units are nicer than others. Our building had rats for months on end this winter. The condo management "fixes" were ineffective. It was not until we got Arlington County involved that the issue was fixed. Currently, we are experiencing flooding of the storage units every time it rains. The office has been notified multiple times. We have found the emergency management line does not work; there is not a guaranteed person to come out to address an emergency situation. The condo front office is non-responsive to all questions and is ineffective. Parking stickers for 2015 were sent out in March. A unit in one building had bed bugs so bad that they had to tear out all of the walls (find it for sale on RedFin: https://www.redfin.com/VA/Arlington/706-S-Arlington-Mill-Dr-22204/unit-304/home/11259455). An older gentleman has a dog on the first floor in one building that sits in the window and barks anytime someone walks by (which is pretty much all day). There is not enough parking for all the units. If you arrive after 10:00 PM, you may not have a parking spot. Unfortunately the neighborhood street parking is also hard to come by. Most of my neighbors have had their cars towed at one time or another. To top if off - the condo association president is super condescending. There is a reason the costs to purchase here are low. There are a few pluses: the majot of the neighbors are delightful and it's close to bus lines and running trails and is pet friendly. read more

I can't wait until they finish building the Arlington mill center because it just makes that corner look more horrible than usual. Unfortunately I am not so in love with the unit that I have rented. My landlord just gave me a filthy apartment and refused to have the place professionally cleaned and sanitized from top to bottom... it's my fault for not asking before signing the lease..... now I am stuck here for a year. My bathroom is poorly painted ..paint is chipping off everywhere...the windows were never updated....the doors knobs are so old with paint chipping...even the light switches are black dirty ..and the bathroom is so stained with dirt that I am so embarrassed.. I don't know how to clean it and I don't have money to hire a professional. If the association is so good they should know the call box in the entrance of my building does not work at all... Nice spot, but never any parking. Most nights is park 2 neighborhoods over, over half a mile away. Ridiculous considering I had a street permit AND parking pass. Neighbors 2 floors up were obnoxious and nothing was done about it. At one point they threw a soiled diaper off their balcony and the mess landed on my window sill. Office wanted nothing to do about it. Other tenants/owners do nothing but complain, and upon moving out I was harassed severely by manage my for putting a small love seat in the dumpster. It's against policy, and that's fine, I was going to correct the situation. I got a warning from 1 last, then 5 minutes after she came back with a grounds keeper who was very invasive asking my first and last name, which building and unit I was in, and followed me around like a shadow as I tried to call a friend who could help me move the thing. After he left, he came back immediately with a THIRD person to tell me again to move my chair out of the dumpster. That's 3 times in 10 minutes when I politely asked for some time to find help. Yes, if I never put it there in the first place it wouldn't have been a problem, but I felt very disrespected after I apologized and made efforts to rectify the situation. $150 move in fee is a joke too. They said it was to clean the hallway carpets after we moved in. I lived in the unit right next to the front door, and never saw carpet cleaners come to clean the 2sq. ft of carpet we walked on. New laundry system is a joke as well. Took over 30 mins to set up our account online, since it takes so many steps just to add money to your account. The old quarter machines worked perfectly fine. I discovered Park Glen Condos ten years ago when I used to walk along the Four Mile Run trail near my old hi- rise building. When I had to move due to the sale of my unit, I was lucky to find a unit for rent in Park Glen. I felt like I had won the lottery! With the lovely forest setting, well-maintained, brick construction near to public transportation and the W&OD trail, swimming pool and low condo fees, I was delighted. This association is well-managed, with a responsive, hard- working board of directors. I have never had trouble parking and the one time I saw one cockroach, the exterminator came (covered in my condo fee) within the week. Where to start. First off the walls in these buildings are paper thin. You can hear every noise and foot step of every person in the building. Our upstairs neighbors construction kept us up for weeks and we can constantly hear our next door neighbors kids screaming and crying and yelling. The buildings are very run down, the walls are chipping paint, and the windows are all filthy. The grounds are well kept but that is about as good as it gets. Also because the building is so old there is barely any insulation. My bedroom got down to 50 degrees this winter and any heat from the space heater escaped through the thin walls. Parking is another huge issue. If you come back after 8 you will not find a parking spot near by. Good luck parking on Arlington mill or the main road. Also it's only 1 parking pass per apartment so it's a terrible place for more than 1 person to live or if you ever want to have friends over. It's location is also terrible. The road to drive in and out is super narrow and their is a bus stop where buses just park at Columbia pike so turning on the Columbia pike is a mess. There is also no green arrow signal to turn on to dinwiddie so turning on to the road is a hassle. There are also a bunch of no turn on red roads nearby so be getting anywhere fast is nearly impossible. Skip this place to live or rent if at all possible. BEWARE of Park Glen Condominiums: Had to give a star but it deserves negative stars!! I moved into 706 South Arlington Mill Drive at the end of 2014. This was the most horrific experience of my life. I found bed bugs in my apartment roughly 1 month after moving in. Park Glen had a meeting about how this was actually a building wide bed bug infestation coming from one apartment and spread throughout the entire apartment building. The most infested bed bug apartment was so infected that the entire apartment was gutted (even the walls were torn down) and the tenants were evicted. I could not sleep and was getting bit up (and these bites are about the size of golf balls and itch beyond belief) and the landlord would not let us out of the lease. Our landlord sued us for breaking the lease and leaving the apartment after 5 unsuccessful bed bug treatments (in 5 months) and we WON the case after an expensive, long and exhausting battle. If you are looking to rent this apartment, make sure bed bugs are included in your lease or you will be spending thousands of dollars trying to fix a problem you did not cause. Other bugs found in the apartment include: cockroaches, sow bugs, millipedes, wasps and fire red ants. Also, the parking situation does not even exist after 7PM. You will spend hours trying to find a parking spot that you paid for. Don't even think of going out on the weekend with your car because there will be no parking at dusk. On top of that, the police were called about a guy who was peeping into multiple windows that were located on the ground floor. So make sure if you live on the bottom floor to watch out and keep your windows locked. I hope that this proves helpful to any potential renters/condominium buyers. I used to live here and I really loved it. I didn't have the same experience like what others had. I lived on the top floor which had nice private balcony and a view. I liked the location, closed to Shirlington, 395, Pentagon, & Ballston. The trail was a plus because I used to run almost everyday. The community center was also very convenient for me as I used to take classes over there. I had no issue with the parking either as I had one designated parking.. The apartment that I was living in was well kept by the owner. I lived by myself so it was perfect. In terms of the building , I thought it was well constructed because I never heard my neighbor's noise and they also never had any complaints about my noise. I didn't have to worry about walking around the house with high heels and worrying that I might bother the neighbors downstairs. read more

I've lived in my PG condo 7 years, and I've had the best neighbors I've ever had anywhere (and I've moved 16 times in my life). The beautifully landscaped property and proximity to the W&OD & Four Mile Run trails makes Park Glen a true gem in a county where land value is at a premium. My mood changes for the better the second I step into my tree-covered courtyard after a day in the D.C. urban jungle. The parking is adequate if you only have one car, but it's a challenge if you have multiple vehicles or overnight guests (with cars). The intersection at Dinwiddie and Columbia Pike is too congested (cluttered with cars, buses, and jay walkers), but my unit is a full 1/3rd mile from that area so I feel like I live in the forest. Park Glen is really a unique space in this area. It's almost set back into nature and I feel an instant sense of relaxation every time I turn down the drive. It's really ideal for people with pets (easy access to a number of great parks), bikers/runners (literally on the W&OD Trail), and those that like nature and quiet (100+ year old trees, zero street noise). The neighbors are very friendly and the condo association does a good job with upkeep and keeping the community spirit alive. I have owned in Park Glen for 5 years and love it here. The property is green and spacious with old trees and the added bonus of parks on two sides: the W&OD bike trail and Glen Carlyn Park. It's a mecca for dogs-owners, runners, walkers and cyclists, My unit is quiet and the neighbors friendly. For instance, we had a snow shovel-out-our-cars party (no covered parking here!). Parking can be a problem if you have more than one vehicle but if you get home at a regular hour I have not had trouble. Overall, I'd say PG is an amazing find so close to DC with the feel of the country and a pool to boot! read more

I rented for one year and moved out August 2015. It seems I didn't experience the rats, bedbugs, and insects infestation problems while I lived there- must have moved out in the nick of time! We also didn't experience any huge issues with parking either but we are students and don't have much of a social life! Our main issue was the outdated interior- everything needed work and our landlord would just come handyman fix everything himself. The location was not convenient for us at all. The bus ride to get to the metro would take upwards of 30-45 minutes some days. And if we tried to drive in at a time remotely close to rush hour the traffic just bottle necked. I liked having the trail (and dog park) nearby but when it got hot we could always smell sewage. It was not uncommon to see cops there at night-- I heard someone was stabbed once and oftentimes it looked drug related. I did not feel safe walking around outside at night. read more

I enjoyed living in a two bedroom in Park Glen for three years. Being so close to the bike path and parks was idyllic. Great stress relief after work to be able to walk out my front door and on to that beautiful portion of the bike path and go for a jog. Quiet, peaceful community, I never heard my neighbors in my building. My bay window overlooked the Park Glen grounds, which almost have a college campus feel with lots of mature trees. People living there were quite friendly, front office and maintenance were very responsive. The area off of Columbia Pike is diverse and has character- I frequented Atacatl restaurant around the corner. Parking was never an issue for me (every unit gets one sticker for the parking lot and one flexpass for S Arlington Mill), but if there are two drivers living in one condo it could be hard for the person with the flexpass to find parking on S Arlington Mill if they get home late at night. read more

I lived at Park Glen for 7 years, and I had the best neighbors ever (and I've lived in 7 different locations in the DC area). My bedroom window backed to the woods & stream, and my top floor terrace overlooked A beautifully-landscaped courtyard. There was plenty of space outdoors to play games with my growing son, and I also enjoyed the proximity to Four Mile Run & W&OD trails. That's where I trained to run the Marine Corps & NYC marathons. I also liked being so close to Shirlington, Glen Carlyn park, and several public libraries. Although I sometimes arrived home late and ended up parking at the far end of the parking lot, there's an interior sidewalk that runs up through the middle of the property, and I always felt safe, even late at night. I was disappointed with the County, however, when they decided to make 9th St. South the only street access into the neighborhood. For awhile, even the delivery trucks had a hard time finding us. read more

The condo association staff are AWFUL!!! I spoke to someone name Ally in the office. She was obnoxious and retarded at the same time. The hallway in my building smells like DEATH & SEWER. Horrible fumes, embarrassing to have visitors. They take cleanliness lightly, no interest whatsoever. The $150.00 move-in fee that they claim is to clean after you move in, is NEVER used for cleaning. .....Then, I needed to get some information about the laundry card. I just moved in and was given an old one. You can only add money via online and you need a code i.e. information that the former tenant had. So option is to get a new one. I needed to wash immediately. She claimed new cards were scheduled to come since last week but MYSTERIOUSLY didn't come, then they were schedule to arrive NEXT WEEK, but she had no idea what day or time, and had no interest to find out..... then she proceeded to tell me I could just create a new account for the old card. I explained to her that even to add money FMB laundry ask for the card holders info. long story short she was behaving RUDE as if I shouldn't be asking any questions, I was bothering her...she went on to say my landlord should have all the information that I needed, ALTHOUGH THE OFFICE HANDLES the cards and the landlord was NOT the person who had the last card or lived on the premises. She was busy being rude!! LAZY and condescending. Parking is a NIGHTMARE!!!....The fools did not even contact the county, so they can create marked parking spots on the side road, so that more cars can fit properly, with no guide sometimes persons park wherever, leaving lots of spaces that are unused, but not enough to fit a vehicle. If there were marked spots, there would be more spaces. It's a POOR EXCUSE FOR A CONDO ASSOCIATION!! read more
