I've lived at River Towers for four years now, and I've truly enjoyed living here! Working in DC, the commute is reasonable by car, but also really easy by public transportation. There is a bus stop right in front of the building, and it's about a 6 minute bus ride to the Huntington Metro Station. Since it's the end of the yellow line, I never have to fight for a seat during rush hour, which I love, and it's a direct ride into the middle of DC. Even though it's so convenient to the city, the location also feels quiet and peaceful... I regularly go for walks around the grounds, sit on the benches and read, and visit the community garden in the back of the building. Also, the pool here is one of my absolute favorite places in the summers... it is almost never crowded, and there are plenty of chairs to stretch out on. I also love how close it is to the Mt. Vernon trail, and Old Town, Alexandria. My husband has lived here for about 10 years now, and in the time that he has been here, this place has truly transformed. Recently, there are many more young people and families who have moved in, and our neighborhood has really benefited from a brand-new Safeway/Starbucks, a 24-hour gym, and the Bread and Water cafe (with the best pastries in Old Town), all within walking distance.
As for the condo itself, I love the high ceilings and huge windows, which is unique in this area. It is nice to be able to work in the city but come home to such a peaceful place! read more
