A review of Park Natural managed to slip through my fingers which is odd since I shop here quite often. Park Natural is an all around health store most likely similar to same establishments in other neighborhoods. It's much appreciated to have in the ' hood even though it's been around for years. Let me be candid for a sec. I don't represent myself as a person who subscribes entirely to eating only health, organic, raw or plant foods. However; I do make a concerted effort to maintain a healthy lifestyle which is where the difference lies. Everything or most things in moderation! But back to Park Natural. I love this store simply because they have just about everything from organic veggies/fruits, vitamins, and bottled beverages to skin care items, refrigerated goods and cooked foods. Keep in mind, you'll dig a bit deeply into your pocket to pay for them. Most health food stores are on the expensive end. In other words, to eat well and maintain a healthy lifestyle isn't cheap. It's why fast food joints are inexpensive. How ironic when we are encouraged to be healthy! Park Natural is the kind of store that appeals to everyone in addition to vegetarians which is great because they carry tempeh and seitan. I like those items myself. Situated near the corner of President and Court Streets, the store is spacious and immaculate. I buy all my vitamins here. And it's comparable to a good friend--you may not always visit them, but you know they are there. read more

My local go-to place for organic groceries. They are very well stocked with an abundance of organic items such as fresh produce, frozen foods, and staples. I've never had an issue with the owners or any of the employees who work here. The cashiers are always friendly, and pleasant. The prices are comparable to other organic food stores. It's easy and convenient for me to shop here. It's always a positive experience. read more

This health food grocery carries frozen foods, dairy, produce, prepared foods, baby foods, household products, health and beauty as well as the expected vitamins and supplements. They even have a salad bar. This is the place to find natural and organic products at surprisingly reasonable prices. Selection is excellent. Worth the stop. read more

A reliable neighborhood store. Fresh vegetables and greens never disappoint. Meat is weak spot but they don't pretend to be a butcher. They have pretty much all the basics that matter, they have excellent options for everything from oils to soap to cereal to tea, etc. For NYC prices are fair and certainly cheaper than places like Whole Foods. read more

I recently saw a sign in their window that said "Checkout help needed." or something to that effect. And I couldn't help but think: you don't need more checkout girls! You need less! And ones that aren't angry and mean and obsessed with their phones! Save your money. I always have to steel myself up to go in here. The women working at the front are constantly on their phones-I've never seen anything like it. I don't ever buy the produce here (it's kept so cold, it tends to ruin it), but I do go in because they manage to stock a pretty incredible amount of organic, health food / whole body products in the space. It's a really thoughtful and varied assortment. But the people.. wow. The guys stocking the shelves are usually really nice, but those ladies at the checkout lanes! So mean! The boycott starts now. I have had many bad experiences with the owners of this establishment (attempting to not allow returns for products the manufacturer said they needed to accept and process, and the ever present NO CASH BACK handwritten signs taped across the card machines), but tonight was the end. I have been a long standing patron of this store - stop in at least twice a week, mostly because I shop organic and it's a couple of blocks away, but no more. I ran out to grab 3 items, 15 minutes before the store closed, and before an impending snow storm, and they locked the door in my face even after i told them I only needed to grab 3 items. I have never written a yelp review before and for the first time feel compelled to do so. They do not care about their clients. In fact I'd go as far to say that they are just taking advantage of their demographic client base and laughing all the way to bank. Hmm some of these reviewers maybe need to get out more and have more experiences, because if a characterful owner is the worst experience you can imagine... Personally here's what I think about this store: - Very convenient, with long hours, serving the nabe - Good selection of natural veggies, snacks, cheeses, cleaning products, eggs, good meat broths, soups, gluten free bread, skin care etc etc. - Could be better on meats - more variety please. - Prices could be LOWER. PLEASE. PANDEMIC, MAN. - Personally I find the checkout staff delightful and Bob is helpful and chatty and I don't find anything bad about him at all. Indeed, when I had wire fraud once, he offered to help tide me over. WHO DOES THAT. That is human kindness that goes several extra miles. - One of the owners, an older gentleman, can be abrupt and a bit aggressive. Personally I find him hilarious. I find his son (?) to be very pleasant but it could be that he has been told to be after some incidents of rudeness? Who knows. All I know is, without this place I'd have to spend my whole paycheck at Whole Foods, or buy depressing shit at Key Foods. So, I like them. Also they have a vast selection of health teas. read more

i really don't like writing negative reviews and, for park natural, i twice reached out to the vendor to address an issue with their staff, but never heard back from them. tl;dr version - park natural offers a consistent selection of organic produce and organic products for the pantry but the bottom line is that their customer service is terrible, ranging from poorly informed to indifferent to casually belligerent. i've been a polite and patient customer there for eight years, having spent more money at park natural than at any other store in our neighborhood, but the service has only gotten worse, to the point where i've stopped going. it's rather absurd that in this day and age, a store doesn't understand the value of their most loyal customers, but so it goes. there are plenty of other choices in the neighborhood. read more

They have a lot in stock and not just food-wise, they have other products as well. I think its a little bigger than some may expect. They have a deli in the back tucked away they they serve soups and such, sandwiches etc but I would like to see even more options. I'm not sure if he's a manager or owner but one of the gentleman there is extremely knowledgable and never tries to up-sell me when I ask him about certain products or if I'm curious about something, he gives it to me straight and takes his time to explain. I think you can find bargains if you look, the fact of the matter is, health food is going to be more expensive but so is not taking care of yourself. I do think a lot of their canned soups are a very competitive price, like Amy's for instance. In the back towards the right they have a lot of seeds and nuts and what have you and you can serve yourself and make a pretty awesome healthy snack. They normally forget to refill the bin with napkins and plastic forks and knives near the cash registers so if you need them and are near the deli, swipe some so you don't have to walk all the way back when you pay. I have lived in the area for 14 years. I spend a lot of money at this store - I would say, on the average $65 a week.. so do the math. Other than Whole Foods, it is the only natural food store around, but more importantly, it is the MOST UNWELCOMING STORE I HAVE EVER BEEN IN. RUDE ATTITUDE ALL AROUND. That comes from no one else but the owners, reflecting how they handle their staff and customers. They have the normal commodity heath store brands that are delivered weekly from Unfi.. the largest distributor of "healthy" products in the US. THEY CARRY NOTHING LOCALLY MADE OR GROWN.. I have NEVER ONCE, been greeted by the owners, who are constantly there stocking shelves, never acknowledged as a repeat customer (they know who I am), never once been treated politely by the cashiers - who between customers, are without fail, on their phones. I have never been thanked upon payment and checkout. One time, just to test the waters, I asked the owner (stocking shelves) where to find a product. He grunted, and pointed in the direction I could find it. So much for customer satisfaction. I have made a pont, every week, to stop with my cart, look the owner in the eyes and say "Hi". Never once, have I even received acknowledgment. This is small community. I am appalled by the rude and greedy nature and the cold unwelcoming attitude at this store. Additionally, this week, they were selling bottles of Clorox 16 oz. for $4.69 a bottle..set up on display.. Wow.. I found another store about 2 miles away, in Brooklyn Heights, that is 100% more pleasant, serves homemade foods, carries local produce and some local products, as well as the standard brands.. Good-by Park Natural Foods. P.S. I feel sorry for the young cashier staff. I have seen them spoken down to in Public, and they are led by the example that it is OK to be rude. read more

This place is an optical illusion. From outside it looks small and dingy but wander in and you will find the store is rather large and filled with hard to find health food items (including a lot of gluten-free food for those of you who rock that.) The produce is organic and fresh (I swear the brussel sprouts looking like they were glowing with health). There is also a smoothie-bar in the back that I plan to visit soon. read more

Shopped here for the first time today was treated very rudely by one of the cashiers after paying $63 dollars for what I could have gotten for $50 at Gourmet Fresh down the street. I thought it would be worth it given all was organic. After super rudely being told to move out of the way for another customer as I was putting on my winter hat and mitts, I decided it was not worth it, returned just about everything and will never go back to this place. Such a shame that this overall great organic grocery is being managed by such a rude, mean owner. The guy (middle age Asian) is seriously nasty. As I was trying to get a refund for a juice bottle which cap was broken when I bought it, he treated me with huge contempt and talked to me as if I was crazy. This guy is a serious disaster.. I truly want to support mom-and-pop stores Vs chains like Whole Foods Market but I cannot wait for WFM to finally open in Gowanus.. I have been a customer for years. The store was sadly forced to close when the building with Body Elite collapsed. Compared to other health food stores in the area my impression is that they carry a greater variety of brands. The store isn't big but it's packed! Prices are fair and some items are actually cheaper here than in a regular supermarket. I hope it will reopen soon -- the neighborhood misses you! read more

I do a ton of yoga, and like to be thin and feeling good... not gonna lie. I can count on this place to pick up my weekly specialty health food items that are often hard to find at non-Whole Foods types of stores. While their prices are a little higher than WF, I'm not so bothered by that due to the fact that eating healthy just costs more, and this place is down the street from my house. I'm willing to spend the money on that. They also have a great lil' juice bar in the back and make excellent veggie juices. I also buy my supplements here. They carry all the top quality brands and are reliable for advice. The store owner is super nice. read more

I am shocked to see some of the more negative reviews of Park Natural as it is a gem of grocery store. I feel so lucky to have a shop like this one nearby- the produce is varied, fresh, and plentiful and every other section in the store is extensive in its selection. I can always find what I'm looking for, even the more obscure items, as they have lots of specialty items for a range of dietary needs. The staff is always helpful, and offers great guidance on both products and vitamins/supplements. This is a one-stop shop for me, a pleasurable experience! I am saddened by the collapse of the building next door and I hope Park Natural will be up and running again soon. read more

Convenient neighborhood health food store. Always clean, a pretty large selection of stuff, and fresh produce. The employees are helpful if you have any issues finding something. The aisles are super narrow, so if there's a few other people in the store, things can get claustrophobic quickly. read more

I just went into Park to pick up a few things. Hardly anybody in there. After looking around for 20 minutes getting what I need - trying to stay as far from people as possible - I get to the register to be told credit cards aren't working. What?? So I just wasted my time and exposed myself to potential virus trying to get food. C'mon, you can do better! Let people know when they come in. Put up a sign. Something. Simple. Very pricey, but a great selection of natural and vegan foods. Great for picking things up on the way home. The store itself is pretty tiny for a legitimate grocery store. The aisles are short and narrow, and there are usually about five mothers with strollers and dogs in your way. The juice bar has amazing soup and sandwiches, and the staff is very friendly. I would come here every morning when I lived in the neighborhood for a kombucha and vegan muffin. Recommended if you need some items, but don't do your entire shop here - it will take awhile and cost twice as much. read more

When my youngest son was little he had a lot of dietary restrictions and I was so happy to find this grocery store in the hood. It made it much easier for me to find "alternative" products, without wheat, without sugar, without dairy, organic etc. I swing by this place at least 3 times a week and the ladies behind the counter have always been friendly, not sure why so many other have had issues here? They always have a good selection of interesting items and are constantly bringing in new products. The only issue that I have is the selected shopping bags, a place that is seeming so earth friendly should lead the charge and nix the plastic. read more

Their fruit and veggies are very fresh. The selection is decent though not perfect. There are rare items here that are hard to find in other places. I have never found the cashiers rude, so I am not sure what the other reviewers are talking about. The worst that has happened is the stock people usually block the one area you want to get food from. I like being able to get food quickly without waiting on a long line or dealing with the highway robbery of Union Market up the street. Can't give less than 1 star but would if possible. All of the complaints about the nasty owner/manager are TOTALLY deserved. After shopping here for over a year, I am no longer a customer. What happened? An item I purchased broke after 1 use and I returned it to let the owner know that the item was poorly made and maybe he'd like to know that rather than continuing to sell these poor quality items. I'd think a small business owner would like to have feedback on this kind of thing. BUT instead, to my utter surprise, he took offense to my news and flipped out. I was shocked! He yelled at me in the crowded . We briefly engaged in a yelling match --wtf? over a $7 item??? I started the conversation in a polite 'hey you might want to know..." manner. I wasn't even asking for a refund at first. Then after the psycho response, I showed him the receipt where I'd spent over $300 on groceries for my family which is a couple of times a week and then informed him that he'd just lost my business permanently. read more

This store is excellent: great selection, good products, and I particularly like the gentleman at the vitamins/health medicine/essential oils counter who really knows his stuff. He's chatty, you can see that he loves what he does. Of course it will be more expensive than Trader Joe's, but having a neighborhood store without the endless line comes with a price. I forgot two bags of groceries at the register once, and they had one of their friendly employees deliver it to me, which was amazing. That's how I learn that they deliver too. I was in the store today and witnessed a manager by the name if Bob completely berating a woman who works there and does demonstrations in the store. It was completely unprofessional and I don't think I will support a business that prides itself on having management that speaks ill of women or anyone on that matter. If he does this to product demonstrators I can only imagine how he treats the actual store staff. read more

Park Natural is an organic foods store that is a few short blocks from my apartment and carries organic and gluten free foods at a time when I have basically become a slave to said edibles. So, its major draw for me is convenience. The store stocks more than you expect from the outside and is fairly well-organized. They have the largest selection of teas that I have ever seen, if that is something you are into. They also make pretty tasty smoothies in the back, but they need to advertise that better. Also, I am never quite clear on the hours of their deli counter. There never seems to be anyone behind it, and it's a weird layout in general. I appreciate that they offer grass-fed meats and poultry, but they really need to expand their selection. This section is nonexistent compared to their other aisles (i.e., tea). Park Natural is inconsistent in that way. The ways in which they are consistent, however, are in their exorbitant pricing and off-puttingly aloof staff. I used to think the prices were high because they sold specialty items, but I have recently found some of the same items cheaper at Whole Foods. It is not every day that one utters that sentence. The staff, namely the cashiers, seem like they are all drugged. No matter who you get, they act as though time is not a thing that exists in reality while they scan your items in slow motion. I always have to wait on line, even though there are usually three cashiers and I am one of two people in the entire store. Then, it is never clear when it is your turn because they will just grunt softly in your general direction and then act annoyed that you weren't able to crack that code. The lack of pleasantries continue until you walk out the door with your poorly packed bags splitting at the seams. Don't expect a "Have a nice day" or "Come back soon." In fact, no words will ever be uttered at all. Do they only hire mutes there? If so, then I'm an asshole. At any rate, despite Park Natural's geographical convenience, I find myself walking the extra distance to Whole Foods more and more often. read more

I make a special trip out here once a week from South Slope because of their thoughtful selection. They carry the best selection of organic household and health products, and the staff is quite knowledgeable, which you won't find at whole foods or other. I'll stock up on hard to find grocery and baby products, as well. One of those neighborhood gems. read more

I've been coming here once or twice a week for six years or so. I use it for food and toiletries, but not vitamins or supplements, so can't comment on that fairly heavy component of the store. General positives: pretty good hours (open until 8 pm, I think), pretty fast checkout, pretty large selection of stuff if you're in need of something suddenly, including Asian items, and many organic options. General negatives: Expensive all around, but especially the organic produce. $8 bunch of grapes, anyone? I couldn't believe the cashier could keep a straight face. I don't buy produce here, other than organic bananas. Other negative: check the expiration date! They cut it close here on the bread and dairy - that's my biggest beef with this place. It is not a great store, by any means, but they have certain things that are very good, if you know what to look for. When I come in here there are only ten things I ever buy, basically. DAIRY: They have the best dairy section in the neighborhood, and the prices are competitive with the wicked gouging the main grocers (Met, etc.) do for organic stuff. - Hawthorne Valley Yoghurt: hands-down the best yoghurt on the East Coast, IMHO. Nobody else has this in the neighborhood (or city? -- other than the Union Square farmer's market) - Natural by Nature milk -- I feel like you can taste the grass/cow in this milk in a way you can't taste it in Organic Valley or Horizon. Some people don't like that, of course. OTHER: - bread from Bread Alone -- some of the best bread in NYC - unsweetened bulk muesli -- sometimes hard to find, and theirs is fairly good. - Woodstock Farms PB: best packaged peanut butter I've found in NYC. - hemp seed, flax, and lots of other grain options (not cheap, though!) That's about it. The service seems fine, and generally available - I'm surprised at the other negative comments. read more

I love Park Natural, been going since they had one register and an entrance on Union Street (before the big expansion). It definitely helps that I literally live 84 steps from the store, but even if I didn't, I'd still go there. One thing I love is the guy who handles the vitamin supplements. I visited him at the store when I was dealing with a particular issue and he was helpful and suggested particular supplements that have been really helpful. I never feel like he is trying to sell me something I don't need, and he's got mad supplement and vitamin skills...like really!! A great little store that is jam packed with goodness. read more

Emigrating to Brooklyn from the West Village left me hard-pressed to find good vegetarian shopping options. Save for Park Natural, which is a smallish yet fully stocked market. It has a little bit of everything and then some. The workers are friendly and assistive (if that's a word, and if not it is for me). Try their counter food which is always fresh and flavourful. I do like this store because of the connivence it provides since its close to my gym. The reason I give it low rating is because of the one person who works there, maybe owner not sure, who have picked on me twice while shopping for products. Good selection of products. I find it is less expensive with more variety than union market. But then again, any place is going to be less expensive than union market. The girls at the registers don't seem to care about you and don't always smile or say thank you back. Kind of annoying, but to be expected in NYC. unfortunately customer service has gone out the window in most places in NYC. I accept it. Also some of the products are old, but it's probably because they carry such obscure items and they don't always turn over that well. What a great selection of all natural beauty and bath products! I found some amazing floral scented body lotion and surprisingly inexpensive. They also have everything from produce to pantry items, frozen foods, dairy and much more. I also found some really obscure "Larabar" flavors I had never tried, like cinnamon bun, cocoa chili, banana bread and ginger snap. This place would be a bit pricey to do all of your grocery shopping at but for some special items it's worth it. read more

They have a great selection of health food items here including a juice bar in the back, bulk items, and a pet food. They definitely are overpriced but they usually have what you are looking for, all of the big health food/vegan/vegetarian foods like boca, quorn, brads, food should taste good , etc. so inevitably there is a reason to stop in here. They also stock Mrs. Meyers, and have monthly sales that are worth looking out for. read more

A lovely little grocery store where we buy pretty much everything they don't sell at the farmer's market. Cereal, rice milk, cleaners, soap, tuna, etc. They have a great selection on certain things like cereal, health and beauty, and baking ingredients. Other things are not their specialty such as meats or dairy but we get most of that at the green market. The other thing I appreciate about this place are the people the work there. Very friendly and nice. Most grocery store employees look and act like they hate their job and wish you would stop bothering them but the folks at Park Natural are all very friendly, helpful, and downright pleasant. I hope this market isn't run out of town by Trader Joe's or the forthcoming Whole Foods. That would be a loss for the neighborhood. read more
