Over $200 per night, tv is all of 20 inches and the RCA remote on the Hisense tv doesn't work. After calling the front desk for 15 minutes with no answer, we had to come down to speak with someone. The front desk worker apologized and said she was busy unable to answer. Ok, rightfully so - but I'm paying over $200 per night for a $80 room. You can at least answer and advise I will be on hold or just acknowledge me in some way. This hotel is very outdated and over priced. As I sit down here in the lobby now, the female behind the desk happily walks around the lobby floor talking to friends. I'm so happy I had to call multiple time with no answer because she was "busy". My opinion, pay the same amount for the Delmar just steps away. I do recommend the roof top bar. I was skeptic about our stay because A LOT of reviews said not so great things. I have to say... we were unexpectedly surprised! My husband usually only stays in 5-star hotels. So he was the most skeptical! He was even surprised & very pleased. The room was clean- towels were white & fluffy (even smelled fresh)! The one thing I was a very worried about was hot water - NO WORRIES **YES! ** We had steaming hot water! You just had to let it run for a minute of 2. It's an old historic building. We were all in the historic tower, on different floors. None of us had a complaint. Floors in the room were clean. It is pet friendly - so when we arrived we were going to board the elevator and the staff was cleaning it when the clients got off. *Housekeeping cleaned our rooms daily. FYI vending machines were located on the second floor. We all used the giant hot tub which WAS working and was hot and clean. (Someone from the hotel checked on it every few hours) My friends purchased stuff in the quaint gift shop. The only suggestion I would have to say was maybe if the staff all had polos in the same color .. or sweatshirts / sweaters- just something recognizing, so you knew who worked there- other then that EVERYONE WAS FRIENDLY! Parking was easy and convenient! We had a party at the hotel restaurant, we had a party of 16, (Thank you Tony)! accommodated us without any problems! Dinner & drinks were fantastic! We were able to decorate the tables they put together for us. Close to all the bars & shopping we walked too! We really didn't even need to book a rental. Next time We will skip it and just uber to the hotel. All in all none of us were disappointed we booked the hotel vs VRBO or Airbnb. read more

For an average of $300 a night, I would have expected luxury amenities. The shampoo, conditioner and shower gel were like water. Think dollar store. The top sheet was totally pilled. Tried to go to restaurant inside hotel and the bartender was so rude we left before even sitting down. There was no ice on our floor (4th) and sign said go to front desk. I get to front desk and he told me go to 2nd floor. The bathroom was very small and the carpet needs replacing. I understand you're paying for location but totally not worth $400 night. The park place hotel has two portions. The old tower portion, which is great, and the later addition which looks like a relic from some post industrial former Soviet Bloc country. Just kind of dark and dirty and depressing. We reserved a standard room with one king bed online. When we checked in, we were given a room in the dingy edition. I asked if instead we could have an equivalent room in the main tower. I could see on my phone that there were still numerous rooms available and the prices were exactly the same. But the woman at check-in said that she was unable to do that because we had booked through a third-party. This made no sense because specific rooms are not assigned when you book online. Rooms are assigned at check-in. She claimed she would have to do a refund and was unable to because of the third-party booking. I'm not sure why a refund would be necessary to switch from one room to another. If I got a room without working AC, they wouldn't need to do a refund to switch me to a different room. Anyway, the room we stayed in was fine. Plain and uninspiring with a view of the parking lot, but fine. I just don't like being lied to, that's all. Do better, Park Place Hotel. read more

Look. Here's the rub. I'm not a fancy man by any means and that trickles down to the places I stay while traveling. If it has a bed, four walls, and most of a roof, I'm in. I've stayed in some shady AF spots as well as places that would charge me for even saying their name out loud. I've slept in my car, on golf course greens, and one time even shared a bunk bed with a complete stranger. That being said, let's get at it. I stayed in room 438. The room itself was nice. Classic, two queen bed type of room. There was your usual desk, dresser, and tv. This room had no couch, therefore no pullout. So it slept a hard 4. The one benefit I liked was the bathroom also had a sink/mirror in it as well as having a little nook with a sink/mirror. So you cut your "getting ready for a night on the town" time in half. The AC worked great and got down to a nice crisp 64. However, one night things went weird and it jumped up to 77. With a little fiddling, I got it working again. It did have a balcony, but this particular block of rooms sat above parking spaces, so the balcony looked out over parking and a little of downtown. This room was situated at the very end of the hallway, as far away from the elevator as possible. But that wasn't even an issue. The room also seemed pretty clean. No signs of mold or weird bugs or water damage. I don't care about decor, it's not like it helps me sleep better. It was also really nice being right in downtown. We walked to ice cream, and bars, and breakfast. 10/10 would hang my hat there again. read more

We visited TC over Mid Winter Break with our 2 small kids and another couple that also has two small kids. We booked PPH because they have a nice indoor pool for kids. The pool is actually very nice (I think recently remodeled in past couple years?) There is a hot tub, a small kiddo pool and a regulars pool. They are all connected so you can go from one to the other without actually having to get out of the water. Lots of tables and chairs - there is a no glass rule but otherwise you are able to bring food and drinks in the pool area which is awesome. They have a bathroom/shower right in the ppl area, as well. If not for the pool, I would have wanted to change hotels - the pool is the only redeeming quality. The rooms are super small (way too small for a family of 4 that has two little kids) and not clean. When we arrived we looked at the sheets and saw a stain on one of our beds... the stain must have been fresh as it was on BOTH the fitted sheet and the top sheet. So gross. I called the front desk and they said they would replace all the linens while we were out. We also found some very suspect looking substance marks on BOTH headboards. Again, SO GROSS. So clearly they are not cleaning these rooms thoroughly. The bathroom is SO small, run down and does not appear clean. There are fridges in each room, which is nice. There is no breakfast options on site. I would be hard pressed to stay here again, even thought the pool was nice. read more

Pet friendly hotel. I called a couple of weeks before my reservation to confirm the pet policy. There is a pet fee which is fine. Upon my check in I was told that the pet cannot be left in the room alone (even in a crate). And if the pet was noisy, there is a $250 fee. The hotel did not disclose this when I called prior to my check in. So when I went to dinner I took the 10 week only puppy to my car so there was no chance of 1) being alone in the room 2) risk of barking. The hotel is old/vintage/historic and the walls are paper thin. I could hear the guests talking in the room adjacent to mine. Also, my daughter had a separate room and unfortunately broke a glass. She was charged $250. Not my best experience in TC. Good luck. read more

Stayed here while in town for a wedding. It is just a run down hotel trying to ride the coat tails of "history". It is not well taken care of, the beds are uncomfortable, the pillows may be big enough for a child, and the "restaurant" staff seemed like they hate life. Don't waste your money or time. Most disappointing hotel experience ever. Positives: - location - Nick at the front desk. The ONLY personable professional. Pleasant. Welcoming. Happily helped us for extra towels to be delivered without any inconvenience. Authentic. Very fashionable and dapper. Negatives: - For over $500 a night the room was dirty, outdated and the iron had written with a sharpie "Park Hotel Do Not Remove" best part? It didn't work. Don't flatter yourself. No one wants your broken iron. - Front desk staff (except Nick) rude, condescending, impatient and yet each of you chose to work in hospitality. The rudest staff out of all the years we've been coming to TC. - The property was very funny about non-guests trying to abuse and use parking not privy to outsiders. I get it. We came in on a Honda Goldwing and had true concerns about our parking pass being lifted and the potential inaccuracy of being towed although we were registered guests. We were blown off. We were told the property is in charge and "we should be ok" yet we were cut off trying to explain ourselves without little affirmation or confidence all would be ok. The risk on potentially towing a motorcycle could cause steering damages and we were guests. We were trying to manage the chance of our parking pass being lifted. Could we proactively confirm someday the bike would be ok? Come to find out the day of the local city event the property parking had been roped off to outsiders. Why not say that in the first place? Why cut us off when trying to manage our conversation and if you, front staff, don't like helping others find new opportunities that don't involve people. - Upon check in at the rude front desk (not Nick) we were told the room has a shaky thermostat. If you try to put it over 80 or under 60 degrees it breaks. What a joke. A) who would do that and B) admitting your system is outdated or on the brink. - Our bedsheet had a stain on it that was not ours. Location and Nick landed this property with two stars although candidly, it should be less. Crappy staff experience and grossly overpriced for this market for what you get. Wheelchair accessibility misrepresented. It was atrocious. Bed was 30 inches from floor, yet wheelchair height is generally about 24. My husband fell trying to get in bed and paramedics had to be called to get him back in his chair. For the person needing a hoyer lift- forget it as bed was on a platform box so the legs of the lift could not roll under it. Bathroom was worse-if possible. Described as a roll in shower it wasn't, but rather low rise and challenging, if not impossible for a wheelchair user to roll into. Grab bars in shower mounted way too low, making them unusable for an average person. Toilet, way too low. We were told by the people at reservations that this room was the "most accessible in the hotel". Ownership should be ashamed. One bright spot -a woman at reservations named Emma. She secured a reservation for us at another hotel in Traverse City which was accessible. Emma should be commended for her work. Hoping this review saves at least one person from this horrible experience. I wouldn't give this place one star, but had no option to post without choosing at least one star. read more

We were put into the extension of the hotel on level 3 . No just no, don't stay here, yea it's close to downtown but so are other hotels for I'm sure under $400 a night. Staff was also super stiff and not friendly at all, called to see if we can check in early, we were told 3, like are you cleaning my room as we speak? Because there was a LOT of black long hair on my pillows, and I'm blonde! Completely unimpressed. The hotel is not clean or well-maintained. We were in Traverse City for a wedding, and I think the hotel was chosen because it is viewed as a cut above the usual. It is not. The front desk attendant (whose name is Guy) that we dealt with was overwhelmed by a large number of guests trying to check in at the same time AND also complaints that rooms had not been cleaned before the next occupancy. No one blamed him, as he was alone at the front desk. But no help ever arrived. No manager. He managed to stay unfailingly polite and tried to be helpful, but it is clear that the hotel doesn't have the internal resources to function properly. You will do better at any chain. read more

Came here to stay for one night and it was horrible, while making reservations Aaron was very up front and unprofessional. Constant flirting and saying he will bend the rules for myself and a friend. Once we arrived he had us pay with cash and would not put a credit card on file all while saying we didn't need to pay until checkout which I've never heard of any establishment doing. He gave a us the run down of the times the bar and pool closed and decided to say "tell night shift Arron said you can stay in the pool as late as you want, I'll deal with them in the morning" we get into our room and it has mold all over the ceiling and it is very dated and erie, I proceed to go down giving them the benefit of the doubt thinking the mold is just a freak thing in that room. We switch rooms and we had went back up in the GOD AWFUL elevator and the second room had mold as well. We took the stairs back down to the lobby as we didn't want to go in the elevator again and when I tell you these stairs were straight from a horror movie I mean it, holes and cracks in the wall, dirt mud and black/red stuff was on the floors , leaky pipes and they were impossible to navigate with what seemed like "maintenance halls" coming off of them. We get down and get our money back and left that place. read more

Dear Park Place Hotel Stayed here from 08/17 to 08/20 with my family and our small pet dog. Must I say this is an understatement but the room we were in 228 was DISGUSTING. The carpets were stained, smelled of urine and musty. The room was dirty, dog hairs on tray by microwave. Our sink in closet was clogged and unable to use. There was pubic hair in the shower and one of the rags that were hanging was stained and soiled. The first night was over $500 and the 2 other nights over $300. We felt trapped staying here as we had our family pet with us and hotels are limited that are pet friendly in TC. We are disgusted by how much we were charged and the amenities that your hotel offered us and how disappointing and unclean our room was. We have been traveling to TC for years and never have we stayed in such a dirty hotel as yours. We have pictures we can show you how soiled our carpets were. House keeping assured us the almost all of the 2nd floor had soiled floors with stained and showed us other rooms while cleaning them out and that we were not the only room with stains and smells. The room next to us was actually worse. Our stay was horrible. We had to keep out balcony open our entire visit to get fresh air because the smell was so bad that my mom actually started feeling sick. I would never recommend your hotel to anyone. Here we go again; I hate having to do this but you know we have to be honest. She had another work thing so we came up here on Friday. We got here and the lobby is awesome! Lookin' around at all the rustic, antique lookin' décor. We got up to the room and were surprised to see how absolutely tiny this room was. I'm sure that it used to be the bedroom of a suite and they renovated to make at least two rooms out of it. There was barely room for one person in the bathroom. Then there was the complete lack of cleanliness. I mean, we didn't have stains on the bed and bugs on the blankets, but the windows looked like they had dog nose art from five years ago, the wallpaper was peeling off, the valance was falling down, there were sloppy paint touch ups everywhere. And what's with the thermostat? I wish I had taken a picture because there was a new looking thermostat, but right above it was an old 3 click knob that controlled the fan. Not only have I never seen a thermostat that you have no choice but to control the fan yourself, but not an automatic option. From what I can tell, for the price they charge; they can afford to be at least in the 20th century. Maybe we're just spoiled or maybe it's a Traverse City thing because last time we were up here, the place we stayed wasn't any better. Not to mention that it seems that the elevators go out about once a day. She actually had to walk up 8 flights of stairs after her work thing. And to beat all, everyone we came in contact with was kinds rude. It makes me not want to come to Traverse City, knowing that the accommodations are less than the quality of a Motel 6 but the cost is much more. read more

I remember when they refurbished this place, it was quite nice. Stayed there frequently when I was in TC on business. Took my wife there recently and was very disappointed. Took us 45 minutes to check in - there was ONE person at the counter with a line of about 10 people. Rooms are outdated, getting shabby. Don't even ask me about the price - I'm embarrassed to say how much I paid. Don't stay here if you can possibly avoid it. The best part of this hotel used to be the location until they built a skyscraper in front of it that blocks the view of the water. read more

We stayed here while attending a profesional conference. This is THE worst hotel we've ever stayed at. We arrived at 4:00 pm , which is checking time, and waited 30 minutes in line only to be told our room was not ready and they would not take a number to call when the room was available. So we came back two more times and waited in line for 30 minutes again each time before getting a room at 8:00 pm. When we got in our room, there was leftover food in the refrigerator from the previous guests. I took it down to the front desk and they apologized and said that should not happen. Ok, stuff happens right? When we pulled the bed sheet back to go to bed, there was blood on the sheets! When I called the front desk the manager on duty said "I can't imagine how that happened". Really! ? I talked to the General Manager the next morning, who appeared to be surprised, and she said she would make it right. She gave us a $45.00 credit off of a $400.00 per night room. Take my advice, go to the Holiday inn down the road. The management and front desk service here is appalling. read more

The staff was very friendly, and that's where the good experience stopped. I can only speak to the west wing, but upon arrival to the room, we noticed the faint smell of pets. In the room, the shower barely worked and didn't have enough water pressure for my wife or daughter to wash their hair, plus the water got warm at best. Went to get ice from the ice machine, and that didn't work; it looks like it's been out of service for a very long time, and needed cleaning badly (per the light icon on the machine). The west wing 2nd level smelled very much like dog accidents, which is something we've NEVER experienced in traveling with our dog over the last 3 years (which has been extensive). We went to grab dinner at the restaurant Sunday night and it was closed, as was the bar upstairs. That was the last straw and we left early. We paid for a 2-night stay and left a day early because the conditions were not worth staying another night. At this point, I could not in good conscious recommend this hotel to anyone, especially at the price point we paid. I'm not sure what the east wing is like, but the west wing should be torn down. For over $200 a night, on a Sunday, in the spring, the pricing is way off realistic. read more
