This was Liam's third stay at the North York location, and it will be his last. On his first stay, I dropped off a healthy, clean dog and received an email the next day saying he had developed dried eye discharge, which staff had cleaned. I gave the benefit of the doubt. On his second stay, the same eye issue occurred again and was initially dismissed as dust. When I picked him up, his bark was strained and barely audible. I was told he had been barking while watching other dogs. After a few days of rest at home, his voice returned -- but it raised concerns about supervision and the environment. During his third stay, I was contacted and told he was limping while I was out of the country. Concerned, I arranged for my veterinary assistant to examine him the following morning. She confirmed there was nothing wrong with his back legs. He has always had a distinctive hop in his gait, which is not a new development. In addition, I have observed frequent staff turnover and a lack of organization. When I picked him up (after returning from Europe 14 days earlier), three staff members were sitting in the lobby on their phones. His belongings were returned in a disorganized manner, one coat was initially missing, and the bottom of his treat bag was damp. I also received a message stating that another dog was mounting him but that he "sets his boundaries well." As a paying client, I expect consistent supervision, cleanliness, and professionalism -- not reassurance that my small dog can manage situations himself. Repeated issues that only occur while he is in their care, combined with the lack of accountability and organization I have observed, have made it clear that this facility is not suited for my dog. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this location. read more

I have used Parker Pet Care several times to take care of my Golden Retriever while I travel, and they are a great organization that is both safe and dependable. On my last stay while I was traveling on business they alerted me that my dog was losing some weight and offered to add extra food to his meals, all at no cost. They keep you connected by sending you photos of your dog playing each week you are away. Speaking of which they pair your dog with another one and arrange playtime for them together during the day which is great for the dogs to burn energy and foster socialization skills. They offer a menu of care at a price which is only natural. You can choose to have your dog walked 1 to 3 times a day, 1 or 2 play dates, have it basically tucked in at bedtime with someone. I can't believe I have not written a review on this amazing place with it's amazing people!! This is an super late review but it actually is also happening at a great time in life. I have a Filipino Street Dogs named Rex who we got a in January of 2022. As a first time dog owner in Canada, I knew I would like for Rex to have the proper training and also would like for him to have a place to go to for sleep overs and play dates. Thankfully I found Parkers Pet Care as it is close to our place. I inquired about puppy school and day care with Parker's and they were very prompt and professional yet personable in their responses. Rex came in for a trial day to see how he would react or adjust to a new environment. At 3 months old and only having him for 1 month, he was very timid and scared of every new surroundings. Yet Parkers took him in for a trial day. Unfortunately he failed his trial day. But the owner Andrew was great and gave Rex a second chance. A second chance that he needed. Andrew took Rex with him and went on with his daily business meetings with rex beside him. Come pick up time and Andrew told us that Rex did great and that Rex has been welcomed into the Parker Pet Care Family. Rex then needed puppy training. Miss Landis who leads the puppy school at Parkers has been nothing but spectacular with training Rex. This is not like any other dog training classes where the owner has to come in for training as well. It really is a "school" format, drop off your furry child and pick him/her up when school is done and then do the homework with them. How convenient and amazing is that!? Miss Landis along with her crew of wonderful people have done wonders with Mr. Rex or Sexy Rexy and helped us bring out the playful and jolly spirit inside of Rex. He has done puppy school and intermediate school there. Both great experience. Also would like to thank Ms. Jade who also has been a part of Rex's training. The wonderful ladies working the front end. All lovely and beautiful and always so welcoming to both animals and hoomans. I wish I could name them all but trust me when I say every person in Parkers is awesome. They show Rex soooo much love that at one point, Rex has gone from needing encouragement to be taken to the back, to Rex being so comfortable with them that he leads them to the back! Oh, and also the awesome staff working the background, those I've never met or dealt with directly but ensures Rex has a jolly ol time with them, thank you very much. The pictures we get during his stay there says he is loving his time there. We also really love and appreciate the staff going the extra mile with their themed events/pictures. Also love the new renovations in terms of play areas! Sadly we have to move outside of Ontario that we won't get to take Rex to his favourite play place. This is not our first time boarding our Shiba here, but this time it was for a longer period of 2 weeks. The staff at Parker's North York Main shop are all very nice and caring, and they took very good care of Maicy (our 7 yo Shiba). The staff are all very attentive to details, and to the dietary habits of our dog. They do keep us posted on any minor misbehaviour of Maicy during her lodging, and do recommend their suggested handling of the matter. Apart from feeling it's another home for Maicy away from home, we feel safe and relieved to have our dog in their good hands whenever we need to be away from town. My dog Ophelia just returned from a five night stay at Parker Pet Care and she returned home happier and healthier than when she left. Ophelia is an older dog and has many older dog quirks. She has a very sensitive stomach and when she gets stressed out she will often stop eating and will be sick to her stomach. I am happy to report that this was not an issue while she was at Parker and she has been in perfect health and happy spirits since she returned home. The dog taxi service to bring her there was great. Ophelia was groomed on the final day of her stay and she looks beautiful! This was the first time that I have boarded Ophelia and it exceeded my expectations. The staff are super friendly and give you lots of feedback. Finally, the price is right - very affordable. Left my dog for grooming. He was to have to his long hair shaved short for the summer months as he is a double-coated dog. Then he was to be bathed and clipped around the ears and have his nails done. They were not to touch the fluffy tail. What I got was a dog that was hardly touched. They clipped his nails and a little around the ears. They did not shave him and as for bathing, you could hardly tell, but they did cut his tail hair and it now looks terrible. Then they had the nerve to charge me over $100 for what little they did. I send an email complaining about it and no one responded. Too much effort on their part to connect and speak to the customer directly. The groomer was supposed to have over 20 years experience. If this is what they consider good grooming, they should think again. This woman does not know how to cut hair on dogs. read more

I left my cat here for 3 days and I am very excited to write this review. Let me start off with the staff... Amazing energy and they care. I was very anxious as this was my first time using a Daycare for my cat. After i met with Meredith my mind was put at ease. They gave me daily updates which helped put a smile on my face. I have placed my dog for 10 days with Parker Pet Care and would give less than a star if it was an option. They lack basic knowledge in taking care of dogs. Tyson developed lesions from his stay from sleeping on hard floor. When confronted they tried to blame my dog for choosing to sleep on the floor and that they provided ample of bedding. We cannot expect dogs to make conscious decisions and choose the optimal space for them to sleep in. They could have designed kennels smaller so that dogs do not have an option but to sleep on their provided bedding. My dog also lost 10 pounds during his stay. When I was checking in with them during the 10 days I was told he was eating fine. It did not look like he was when we got him back, he was so bony. He probably refused to eat from separation anxiety, but why lie and tell me he is eating fine. I brushed my dog as soon as I picked him up and there was so much fur coming off of him. It seems that he was never brushed during his stay. This was my first and last experience with them and I do not recommend it to anyone. read more

They don't know how to cut yorkies hair or any dogs hair. I asked to leave my dogs skirt and cut the rest of her hair instead they don't cut anything , just minor trims and that's literally all they did. Waste of $80 on a cut a 2 year old can do. Horrible service and I have a tip before I even saw my do which was a mistake. They didn't even finish cutting her ear hair, and gave her back to me? Funny. Horrible groomers. read more

Parker pet care took very good care of our dog, they were very informative in their emails and overall our dog had a good stay!

I had recently taking my kitty Gilmour here for a weekend as I was away and the one that usually looks after him while I am unavailable was also unavailable that weekend. After telling a few people about the situation, I was recommended Parker Pet's and I was very worried at first as I never had taken him to be boarded and I did not like the idea of him being caged up all weekend long. Especially since he was a stray kitty I didn't want him to think I was never coming back for him, I told him before I dropped him off that I would be back and he settled in fine when he arrived. Each kitty gets out of their cage for 20 minutes a day and also receives daily brushing. You can bring your own food, but they have food there. I brought my own as Gilmour is spoiled and can sometimes be fuzzy. When I picked him up he seemed very happy and I could tell he was taking very good care of while I was away. The only downfall I have is that very day when I picked him up I also took him for his check up and rabies shot as he was due, since he was already out. I decided to get everything done at once and that very day I found out he has diabetes... This means Gilmour will never be able to come back to Parker's as they will not do injections.... It's very sad as I liked this place, but oh well, there is nothing I can do about it, maybe it is for the best. read more

My toy poodle does not have a boarding experience here. I wanna talk about their grooming skills. This was our first time came here, i got up early to drop my dog there and went back to sleep right after. When i picked her up, i wasn't totally awake so i didn't have any comments which i am very much regretting right now. When i got home, i got to see her clearly and it is a huge disappointment. The staff there were very nice and i thought i was talking to my dogs groomer. I showed her a picture and explained what i wanted for my dog. My dog has grown long enough hair to groom as a.teddy bear. I told her not to cut the forehead let them grow so i can make a pony tail like yorkshire. They said no problem and cut it anyways. Now i have to go back where i started to wait another 6 months for them to grow!! The worst part is they did not know how to cut a round face it turned out so so so so ugly!!!! I was thinking about whether i want to write this review because usually i am not a picky person at all but i'm still so pissed!! It's ugly !!! Worse than in petsmart. They told me the price range was 45-65, they charged me 65 and not even brush her teeth? However, i will.never come back for my dogs grooming. This is THE place we drop our dogs at when going on vacation (when a family member cannot be "persuaded" to watch them). Pets are required to have current vaccinations in place and they further recommend Bordatella (sp?) for kennel cough. We usually bring in our own food (dogs are a tad picky), treats and a dog bed for them to sleep on. As we have 2 small dogs, Parker Pet Care will allow our pets to be boarded in the same pen, making it less stressful for both them and us. 2nd dog gets a discounted rate. Daily rates include play time in a "run", cuddle time, and a walk. For an additional fee, pets can get an extended "cuddle time", as well as an extended walk. Staff seem to love pets and their jobs. Our shar-pei has separation anxiety but he likes this place so much he jumped on the attendant and licked her this last visit and went in willingly the last three times without any fuss. We boarded our two dogs overnight here while we were visiting family in Toronto. What a terrific place! The staff are very attentive, the premises are very clean and - most importantly - my dogs really like this place! My dogs were happy to see me, but I don't think they would've minded staying another day or two - and one of my dogs is a little bit timid and shy when it comes to Ken. But not here. I have so many great things to say about Parker Pet Care I don't even know where to begin! First of all, recently I had to give my two cats to my mother and my pup to a close friend because of a last minute move to the states that wouldn't allow me to have more than one pet. After this, my last pet Spencer was depressed, he would mope, not eat, not play, slept all day, hardly wanted to go on walks, wasn't interested in other dogs and it was truly heartbreaking to see him this way. While I had to go down to look for apartments I needed a new place to board Spencer that I could trust (because the previous place had problems...another overdue review I will write after this.) After extensive research, phone calls, emails to very reputable kennels to find out they either aren't taking new clients or don't take toy breeds, I finally found Parker Pet Care! Parker Pet Care is a massive cat and dog facility. They are very thorough, organized, friendly and extremely professional. In order to board him, he had to be assessed for non aggressive behaviour with other dogs through a free day of daycare that they offer. They have a window of time to drop the dogs off in the morning, and the same in the evening to pick them up, perfect! When I came to pick him up, they presented me with a card that had a brief assessment and a great photo of him romping in the yard! I am a SUCKER for photos especially happy ones of my dog and I will say that that was the moment I was sold. We continued into the facility for a tour where I was amazed, they've got "happy trails" a space for dogs to run and play, they've got another playground with agility equipment they can run, jump and play on, the playground also has two pools (one for larger dogs and one for smaller dogs.) When it's time for bed the larger and smaller dogs are separated in different rooms and they are crated (I know this bothers a lot of people but at least they are safe.) They also have a cuddle room where you can get someone to cuddle your pooch and give them extra TLC at different times a day. My biggest surprise was how CLEAN it was for the amount of animals they have there! My boyfriend and I couldn't see any doggie mess or smell any doggie odour at all (haven't we all experienced the punch in the face at other kennels upon walking through the door?) Once the tour was over, they brought Spencer out and I was so glad that he had such a good time. He was still a bit wonky (because he lost three of his pals) but he seemed to be better even after one day! A few days later we came in to board him and we got the gold vip package so he could participate in group play, we also left a blanket with him that smelled like home. They conducted another assessment to see what group(s) of dogs would be most suitable for him to play with comfortably (they are SO thorough!) I called later that week to follow up on how he was doing and I was thrilled when they told me he was playing and EATING regularly!!! (YAY, he's eating and playing!) After about a week, we came to pick him up and I swear since his sleep over at Parker Pet Care he's forgotten about his old gang at home. No more moping, he's eating regularly, and wants to sniff bums again! It's like he's always been the only dog and he loves it. By the way, the blanket we left with him? You guessed it, DIDN'T stink! I owe a huge thanks to Parker Pet Care for taking such great care of him during this hard and confusing time in his doggie life. His attitude has changed back to the cheerful dog I've always known him to be. It really sucks that we are moving now because it's going to be really hard to find another daycare/kennel as good as this. At least its temporary and we'll be back in the new year! A few things to keep in mind if anyone reading this is interested. 1. All dogs are crated when it's bed/downtime. I know some people don't like this. I, myself was iffy about this at first but I've had questionable experiences at another kennel (see next review) and now I actually prefer it because I know my dog won't get into trouble, as he usually does, when he isn't supervised. 2. If you're a downtown dweller, it isn't an easy commute being at Keele and the 401. Their other location is in Scarborough. 3. It isn't cheap, on top of the nightly rate, they've got additional packages and a la carte add ons (up sells.) I have to commend their marketing because I'm definitely the demographic they are aiming for. To ensure my dog has a great time, I won't shy away from spending more on packages and add-ons such as "cuddle time." Yes, I'm a sucker but I know my pooch is in great hands here so every penny is worth it! read more

I recently boarded my cat here for my 5 day vacation. He has high anxiety and doesn't do well with other people so I was concerned for him. However he was perfectly content and happy when I picked him up. The staff are unbelievably sweet and kind; they assured me that I could call or email anytime for an update on how my angel was doing. The pickup and drop off process was seamless and if you listen to their instructions and give them a heads up before you go, they make sure to time things perfectly so that other animals are not being admitted while yours is. The facility is clean and doesn't have that humane society smell to it. I am THAT pet owner who cried when I dropped off my cat, and they were extremely kind and courteous with me. As a first time customer, I definitely feel that they went over and above for me. The only name I can remember is Jess but the other girls were incredible too. Update: I boarded both my dog and cat for 6 days for a vacation, and they both had a blast. Emma and Megan are amazing and kept me updated on my babes. Parker is the best of the best when it comes to animal care. They offer peace of mind while you're away, which is priceless when you have to leave your fur babies behind for any reason. read more

I boarded my dog for two weeks while I was away for a family event. When I toured the location I wasn't all that please it the way the kennels looked and how many dogs are stored in one large room but I had no other choice. When I came back from vacation to pick up my dog he didn't look like my dog. He was a lot skinnier than when I dropped him off, he was covered in cuts and markings and had little patches of fur missing. His nose was very dry and he was heavily panting. He wasn't even excited to see me, he just looked tired. When I asked the workers what happened they said nothing, they said he was fine and loved it there. I have no idea idea what they did to my dog, but I would bet money that he was abused by the workers there. I will never go back, I will never recommend them and I will tell everyone I know with dogs thay they are abusive. read more

Do not bring your dog or cat here! The place is terrible. It is run by teenagers who don't know anything about animals. This is how the day goes: First thing in the morning the dogs are put into outside cages as the cages inside are being swept out and excessively bleached. The dogs are then brought back inside to sit in their cages for a few more hours. This is done until all kennels are clean. After a lunch break of the teenagers saying how hung over they are and what club they are going to later, its time to clean and bleach the cages AGAIN, which leaves only 1-3 people to walk ALL the dogs in the place! and because of the volume of dogs, not all of them get taken out every day, especially around the holidays. The "walks", which consist of taking the dog outside to walk the backyard...never saw one dog outside for more than 5mins. yes, even the dogs whose owners paid extra for "cuddle time" got walked for 5mins or less. Plus, the teenagers were all self proclaimed "dog people" and were scared the cats would scratch them, so the cats were never taken out or played with, just given a bowl of food. You are better off to leave your cat at home with a big bowl of food. At least they will have room to move around. As for the grooming, your dog is tied to a ring on the floor as a teenager brushes them. One girl was harshly brushing one dog with a lot of knots as the dog was crying/whimpering because she was basically just ripping out its hair, and then she was yelling and smacking the dog to get it to shut up. They are not trained groomers or even vet tech students, just teenagers I wouldn't trust to take care of fish. The whole place smells like bleach and shit. I can just imagine how strong the fumes must smell to the dogs who are constantly barking so loud, you cant hear the person next to you. I DO NOT recommend this place as it is disorganized and has uneducated careless staff. You may meet an adult to take you for a tour and sell you a package and tell you how great it is, but don't be fooled! read more

We have used Parker's Kennel for over 30 years .We always have been extremely satisfied with the care our three dogs have received[two Papillions and one peekapoo].We recently left our 111/2 year old for three weeks and were concerned about her stay as she has never been boarded for this protracted length of time. We picked her up two days ago and are so pleased ; she clearly enjoyed her time there, is even more energetic than before.Probably ordering some "cuddletime" helped as she is use to the attention of two devoted adults 24/7. Brought my dog here several times. The staff are amazing and take great care of Kilo. He always comes home happy and tired out from all of the activities. The grounds are big and I love that they offer a supervised group play to ensure his safety. He hates to have his nails cut and the groomers still find the patience to get it done. My dogs (2 jack russell terriers) had a terrible experience with Parker in December 2014. It was a one week work trip and I was desperate for someone to look after them as I was unable to find family/friends to take care of them for that week. Normally I would not go with a caged boarding situation but didn't have time to research an at-home boarder I could trust. Both dogs are older (14) and can get anxious, so I gave EXPLICIT instructions to the receptionist: 1. If they're body weight dropped at ALL, I wanted to be called. They said they would weigh every day and let me know of any issues. Make sure they had dry food available at all times and give a full can of soft a day. They aren't big eaters so it was critical their eating was monitored. I have no idea if these instructions were followed. 2. If there were any other issues related to anxiety, to call me and let me know. When I got back, one of the dogs body weight had dropped 20% - a HUGE amount for a small, thin dog. The other dog had a huge red welt on her nose from RUBBING HER NOSE RAW against the door. Both dogs were obviously in distress with anxiety when I picked them up, but the staff did nothing about it, and did not contact me. They slept for 2 days straight when I dog them home. They made me pay BEFORE brining the dogs out. That should have been a red flag. Obviously enraged, I asked for a full refund, but the owner refused. Do not use this service if your dog has any anxiety issues at all (eg. many/most terriers, basically). Staff do not know how to deal with a dog like that, and will not bother to call to let you know when there is an issue (assuming they even notice). Not recommended. read more

We boarded our two 4 year old cats for 5 days here. Staff was courteous and pleasant, but one of our cats was returned listless, vomiting and extremely dehydrated and suffering rapid weight loss and an inability to eat or drink food when offered. We were told by staff that both cats were fully fed for the last two days. This was not consistent with the condition of our cat and we decided to take the cat immediately to the vet. It was finally determined by the vet that the cat had nothing wrong with him (after exhaustive testing) aside from being extremely dehydrated and showing signs of rapid recent weight loss. He was simply very poorly cared for. He thankfully recovered, after a very expensive hospital stay. Parker Pet Care pretty clearly did not follow the instructions that were left, namely, that the cats be kept together but fed separately. I cannot recommend entrusting your animals to their care, particularly if you have any instructions that really need to be followed or you are concerned about them noticing if your pet is ill or not eating. read more

We were so happy when we found Parker. Our puppy loves it there. She gets so excited when we pull into the driveway. Sometimes it seems she does not want to leave when we pick her up. The staff at Parker are amazing and obviously love their jobs. The only downside is she exhausted when she gets home as has had such a fun day at Parker. read more
