Transmissions by Shane - Best transmission repair shop in North Georgia!

BLUF: Shane and his Team are the best. I was preparing for a major trail ride in my 2005 Jeep LJ…read moreout west on the Rubicon Trail (a bucket list trail). Major planning and a lot of expense involved. I only had a few days before I had to be on the road to California and every shop I contacted was at least a week to a few months out to get to me. I stopped by Shane's shop to get an estimate and discussed my predicament. Shane agreed to get me right in AND do his best to have me ready within a couple of days. My transmission required a total rebuild and was a custom application, but they got it done! As a bonus, I was not charged extra and also got a full warranty on their work. We would not have made the trip without them. My transmission business is going nowhere else! Alex

I've always had my car serviced at the dealership and did not know any repair shops in the area, so I was a bit nervous about leaving it, especially so far from home and not knowing how long it might take or what it would cost to get it repaired. Shane called me with an estimate that afternoon and told me the repairs (rebuild transaxle) would take about a week. He had it ready when promised and had also replaced my radiator, but kept the total charge within $100 of his original estimate and gave me a 12-month, 12,000 mile warranty on the work. It was a pleasure to deal with Shane!

After…read morethe 3rd attempt in repairs, my truck started overheating which it never did the entire time I drove it there. After picking the truck up the third time, it broke down due to overheating. Had it towed where it sat momentarily and the transmission still leaked. I had to make the decision to accept a loss due to not wanting to take the truck for a 4th time and having additional issues once I received the vehicle. I had to take the truck into another shop to diagnose and fix. BEWARE To the shop owner that replied: Please read the review of its entirety! You had (3) attempts! And you couldn't get it right. So miraculously my truck started overhearing after pick up which cracked the heads and the truck went down for a while. Needless to say, I would never recommend this company after all the issues you have given my son and I. Record keeping: it's not my responsibility to keep up with this but my American Express shows the deduction date August 2nd 2025 of $2622 for the rebuild. I suppose it's easier for you to deny if you don't have record. Only reason I waited this long is because the extent of damage caused by the overheating made me replace the entire engine. As a Veteran to others take this warning and be careful when you do business with this company despite the other reviews. The message from the business owner Christian is a copy and paste response. So professional. Even though I spoke to him and his wife or receptionist when the complications were going on. He even towed it from my house. Funny how Christian forgets!

Started off great - had my car towed to Greenville Transmission Clinic on a Monday and was told…read morethat the diagnostician was only in on Monday and Wednesday (why the person who can actually "diagnose" an issue is in 2 days a week is beyond me) but I was told that my car was going to be assessed that Wednesday. I didn't hear anything so I called at the end of the day on Wednesday (no one called me) and I was told that there was a back up and my car hadn't gotten on the lift. I then called on Thursday to get an update and was told that someone would get back to me. Someone finally called and said that I would have to pay an additional $100 for "more testing", and that they didn't "think" it was the transmission and was probably the catalytic converter. I agreed and then called back on Friday and was told that it hadn't happened yet and that someone would get back to me. The following Monday, I reached out to see what was happening and was told that the shop had just opened (it had been opened for almost an hour - and it's Monday, the day the 2 work-day-a-week diagnostician was supposed to be there, but whatever) and that someone would get back to me by the end of the day to give me an update. Once again, no update by the end of the day and no call on Tuesday morning. So I ended up going down, found out that the "additional" testing hadn't happened (they obviously didn't charge me for that). I ended up having the car towed somewhere else. The gentleman at the front desk explained that there was a back-up, etc., but the fact that there was almost zero communication is pretty unacceptable when you've had someone's car for a week. Communication is key and I honestly would have been happy with a text notification - the customer shouldn't be the one reaching out constantly for information. BTW, the new shop called me about 20 min after I dropped the car off and will have it ready at 2pm.

I had called to ask if they service European cars, and surely they do! They were able to schedule me to drop off my car the next day with other flexible dates. They also were able to take one of my pre purchased parts from AutoZone, no problem. When I arrived, at first slightly confused, by their glorious lobby, was not something I'm used to or expected. They don't have the usual rundown looking lobby to wait or make your payment. No, this is stunning as if I walked into another professional business. Very classy indeed! They also graciously called to let me know of other updates my car needed that was necessary or at least make me aware of to have taken care of in the future, along with a quote ahead of time! After that, I received an email and text report of their findings. This was the most thorough report I have ever witnessed from a mechanic! They not only break it down by things that "passed" their check, items they checked but are not as pressing to have repaired and more immediate repairs. Each had their own break down with screenshots and photos with a computer generated simulation video to talk you through its part needing attention/repair. I've never been more impressed, especially being a female with knowing little to nothing about cars and unable to regurgitate what's been done on my car. I now have this report to refer back to. When I arrived the next day to pick up my car, they pulled it up for me. What also awaited me in my car was a free cold water and a cookie! How sweet and thoughtful. I had assumed they were a Christian owned business, but also thought it could be just their name...Thank you Lord there is a Christian owned mechanic where I can trust honest work, service and pricing. Their communication, transparency, and genuine customer service are absolutely top-notch. They even offer a complimentary courtesy ride within 20 minutes of the shop, which is such a thoughtful service. The day I dropped off my car, I was given a ride home by someone who, during our conversation, impressed me so much with her honesty and values that I knew this was going to be my new go-to shop. I later learned she was the owner and everything about that interaction confirmed that quality, transparency, and integrity are woven into the culture of this business. Shawn kept me informed every step of the way with professionalism and honesty, even when unexpected delays happened. As a business owner myself, I respect the way he handled the situation with grace and ownership. When I picked up my car, Nick was welcoming and helpful, walking me through everything and ensuring I left confident in the service I received. This is a business that does things the right way. Christian Brothers Automotive has set a new standard, and I'll be recommending them to friends, family, and colleagues from here on out.
