My father's hip surgery experience with Dr. Derick Johnson has been horrific. Three months after…read morethe surgery and he can barely walk. Has had terrible popping noises when he sneezes that bring him to the ground in pain. Dr. Johnson has shown zero interest in the very poor outcome of the surgery and has left an injured patient to fend for himself. A few weeks back when he sneezed and heard a loud popping sounds and fell to his knees in pain, he called the office and asked to see the Dr. The nurse asked to rate his pain on a 1-10. He said 12!! (very unusual for my father). After checking, the nurse said they could not get him in to see the doctor. He said he was going to the emergency room. She checked with the Dr. and told him "DO NOT GO TO EMERGENCY ROOM' and at the same time, said he could not see my father. My father was in good health going into the surgery. Before the surgery, he was completely mobile and able to do yard work, bicycle and most other things he wanted to do (65 yrs. old) . Now - very limited mobility and a LOT of pain. My father has tried repeatedly to speak with the Dr. and has been unable to get the Doctor live in 2 months. I reached his staff last week and was told the Dr. would ring me Monday or Tuesday of this week. Those days have come and gone and I have not received a call. My father is in a very bad spot here and I'm starting a search to see if we can find another doctor to fix what has become a really bad situation. If you go to Dr. Johnson, I hope your experience is much better than that of my father.

I was going to be a new patient in this office, and had a dire family emergency, which…read moreunfortunately made me unable to keep the appointment. I felt horrible missing it , and had apologized up and down for it, the office manager Jan, had absolutely zero sympathy or compassion for my situation and would not allow me to reschedule . How horrible to feel in pain like I have been in for months, now only for someone to make you feel worse even after a family emergency, and say go someone where else. It would have been my first appointment . I could understand if it had happened a second or third time definitely, but to be denied your first visit because of a situation how unethical and concussion uncompassionate and pathetic is that??!!! Wrong in a many ways. This is what the world is coming to . Sad. I will let everyone I know about this place. Holland, South Haven and Allegan locations. Find a job you like Jan, because your attitude clearly shows you don't!!!

She checked it out but had me get a few x-rays. It turns out I had fractured my foot. WHAT?! Who knows when that happened but she explained how that was affecting my toe and gave me a shot. So far, that's working great and I can walk normal without fear of taking that "wrong step". I'm giving 5 stars because she was not only quick at figuring out what's wrong but she was very personable. She even trimmed off a couple calluses for me. I also didn't have to wait long and every staff person I interacted with was friendly. In case anyone from Northwood Foot & Ankle sees this, thank you so much! :)

I went in for an introductory special which included VIP Lounge Access, Pure Hydration Drip,…read morevitamin consult, and massage chair or oxygen therapy for $85. The vitamin consult is where you pick your IV fluid. Nothing on their "menu" actually has what's in it. The nurse just tells you what is best for you which seems to be one of the most expensive packages and gives you options of adding things onto that. I tell her that the only thing I care about is glutathione and what's the most economical way of getting it. She says I can pick from a shot, a $120 IV push, an up-charge of $45 to add it to the $85 bag, or one of the three packages that had it included. I am overwhelmed at this point and the menu doesn't make sense to me so I just pick the cheapest package ($129 with the introduction price) that has the glutathione included. The nurse says that it also comes with Vitamin D and Vitamin C which are good things, right? She starts the IV easily and leads us to the massage chairs. I inquired about the oxygen therapy, but they were out of oxygen. The nurse left without telling us how to use the massage chairs which also had a decent-sized menu without any kind of explanation. I chose "Japanese Massage" because I have no idea what any of it means. The machine acts like a spaceship which is kind of fun, but the issue is that it is set for someone much taller so my feet aren't even in the feet area, the strength was too firm, and it's gripping onto my legs and feet painfully. I push buttons, but I just make it worse so I turn the thing off until someone comes and explains to me how to use the massage chair and how to summon an employee when needed. The nurse finally comes back. She pushes the glutathione too fast (it burns) and then hangs a bag of fluid which I THOUGHT was vitamin C and Vitamin D. She leaves and I start to relax now that the massage chair is sorted out. After some time, another VIP customer comes in. Instead of grabbing one of the provided blankets, she drapes her jacket over the massage chair. All you can hear is "cling, tap, cling, clang" as her zipper and buttons hit the massage chair as it kneads and taps her muscles. One of the employees hears the noise from outside and tries to get her to take a blanket, but she won't take it and everyone in the VIP lounge is now subjected to the "cling clang tap tap cling" for the rest of their entire infusion. When the IV is finally done, the nurse removes the IV catheter, turns off the massage chair, and then comes at me with a big ole needle. I say "What's that?" and she says it's the vitamin D shot from my infusion package. "Wasn't that in the IV bag?" I ask and she says it's some kind of special soluble vitamin so it's not in the bag (is this common knowledge that I was supposed to know?). I refuse the shot. She says something about how she already pulled it up and walked out the door with it in her hand. It was an odd encounter that made me feel like she was annoyed with me or felt hurt by my rejection of the shot. I don't know why she did what she did, but it made me feel icky. She didn't come back so I left. Overall, I am not impressed. I've had IV infusions before in Asheville, NC, and Greenville, SC -- they've been great. I've even been a member before and got regular infusions. This is a different experience and it just doesn't stack up. Overall, it was a disappointing experience and I won't be going back even though I could benefit from the IV glutathione. The receptionist was nice and very helpful. He gets five stars. He helped me with the massage chair, he TRIED to stop the lady's clinging jacket, he gave me a discount when I told him that I didn't use the vitamin D shot because it wasn't explained to me to be a shot, and was very attentive and kind. He should get a raise because he was the redeeming quality of the facility.
