It's so hard finding quick dental care in Portland and was surprised when I called to make an apt they had openings right away. I went in and the first apt was X-rays and other general teeth questions (new patient).; I figured cleaning apt would be weeks out, but they got me in literally that next Monday. I do wish they would've just done it all in one go, but the teeth cleaning was less than 40 minutes. They were very good and wasn't too painful like other dental offices. I was able to get my husband in and he's had more work done and they have been great about it too. Highly recommend. Also side note, they close the office from 1-2pm for their lunches. Worse experience ever, happened twice in 2 weeks for permanent filling. Careless doctor since 1 doctor and wants to hurry up and finish the job. Making appointments and does not have 1 minute to talk with the patient. Wants to finish up the job at the same time meaning, "seeing 3-4 patients at the same time" keeps on hold saying okay be fast i don't have time for you let me do my job so that i am done with you since i have other patients waiting for me" this were the words from the doctor. For my filling i had 3-4 injection in my gum needed time to get numb but then he started doing the filling said let me know when it hurts, so once started the filling kept saying cavity and kept drilling in and then i felt severe pain in my gum and then gave me more numb injection told him give me minutes since i started to loose my consciousness and started to sweat but he said if can not hold the pain for a while he will go see next patient since he does not have minutes for me to get relaxed i started with the procedure and then its over 2 months i still have serve pain since i had no pain at all in the beginning i just wanted a small filling to get covered since i was afraid that if i eat anything it might get worse. But we spending so much money to be seen patiently but not treated like this. After that so much pain the dentist goes to see other patients without getting my concern he told the assistant to clean all my teeth after a while when she started taking my measurements and started with my teeth i asked what is happening and she said oh the dentist has told her to clean the teeth. I just agreed to get my small filling fixed but why you people doing something on your own without getting the patients permission even though in life its free at your clinic I recommend people get somewhere else my 2 experience were so horrible here. 2nd Response: If i am not a patient of your clinic how come i have the receipt. Please be reasonable and find the attached copy of the receipt. 3rd Response: What do you people think, have we not called your office yes we did only response we got was "we so sorry to hear that and wish you feel better". And then we said on the face of the dentist that treated us in an appropriate manner that please try to be calm with your clients but he said the same thing again like "well if you want to be treated be fast i do not have time since i have other clients to look after", so what else we people except from this place, or should i say horrible experience happened twice in 2 weeks. How come 1 dentist see 3 clients in different room , give numb injection come back do filling starts hurting can not breathe, painful, sweating feeling unconscious but still the dentist and the assistant there and i say please give me 2 minutes its so painful and i will pass out any minute but still your horrible dentist says i need to be fast or else you can leave since i have other patients waiting there. Genuinely can't rave enough about these people! I'm a huge baby about dental work, having had poor experiences and they're SO KIND. They also explained that due to my deductible and out of pocket costs, what I'd be able to afford without paying full costs. I went here for an initial exam, was referred to Endodontics Limited (about to go in!) for a root canal, but I had a previously done root canal that Willamette Dental didn't put in a permanent filling and didn't tell me I'd need, that came out within weeks...it's been a while since I've been able to establish dental care and I was sure they were going to extract that tooth because maybe 1/3 of it was left (?)...he did additional X-rays and decided he thought he could save it for now...it was a long appt, because I feel like he put in every effort to make sure the permanent crown would stay as long as possible...and it was painless. All the staff are so friendly and the hygienist was gentle and so was he! 2.5 hours to get a temporary crown on and I wasn't in pain a single time. They quickly got me in for the permanent crown, and the referral to the Endodontics was same day. They all explained the pros and cons of extractions versus permanent crowns and ensured me they'd get me in for the permanent filling after my root canal. Even with insurance, there's still an expense...but it's quite similar to what I paid for the initial root canal that broke apart within weeks. Just genuine people that care and remember even the things you had chatted about weeks prior. Makes me a lot more confident in the upcoming root canal, if they trust them...I feel I should too! read more

My treatment at this dentist office was alright. The front office and dental hygienist professional and cordial. They got me in for a cleaning promptly and they performed it without any hiccups. I've had this exact insurance for a few years, and I get cleanings every 6 months or so. This is the first time I've been sent a bill for additional charges. They made some silly reasons, but I could tell that they were just dealing with the pandemic squeeze in their own sleazy way. Rather than offering to check with my insurance again, they told me to call - but the payment was somehow already late and I needed to figure this out right away. Working 60 hours a week this isn't an option for me, so I fell victim to their extortion. I hope there are places to report bad COVID business practices in the future, because I wont be forgetting this any time soon. read more

What a terrible establishment. I wrote a Google review sharing how I have been trying to get in for an appointment for months and each time I was told with a short rude response they would call me back or for me to call back later. I continued to check in and had my records sent to their office. On a rare day I called they offered me a same day appointment that I told them I was unable to make given my insurance date and they stated that they reported that to my insurance as a no show which is a blatant lie. Clearly they don't care about customer service. It amazes me they have as many positive reviews as they do when they treat patients this way. Likely they pay to have negative reviews taken down. As part of a 6 trip visit to fix all my teeth, 2 teeth at a time, today I had 2 of my front teeth fixed (all cavities, all black embarrassing spots removed). Look at my pic. The 2 teeth look like brand new and Dr Tieu did it all by hand! The 2 teeth look brand new (who needs veneers)! The check in process was prompt and efficient, the cleaning was thorough and pleasant (imagine that, a pleasant experience at the dentist!), and the final evaluation was casual yet professional. Here is the letter I wrote to the BBB: I'm writing you today because I have an issue with my dentist office, Parkrose Dental. My wife and I have been going to this dentist for about 5-6 years. I have never had any problem before this incident. The incident started when I received a bill from them. On the bill it has Periodic oral evaluation (general cleaning) for $66 and another charge for Periodontal maintenance for $203. This Periodontal maintenance is not 100% cover by my Kaiser insurance so my out of pocket for this bill is $80. I called the office to find out why this was the case and the first person picked up could not answer and she refused to give me her manager's name or when the manager be arriving to the office. She said "it's violating privacy law to tell clients when the manager is going to be in the office". I insisted that she would give me a time frame and she said someone will get a call back to me within the hour. I got a call 20 minutes later from a hygienist who knows me and she said to me that the Periodontal maintenance was necessary every three months and for four times after I had my deep cleaning back in July 2013. I told her that I understand that's the recommendation to patients but I wasn't aware that was happening for the past four years. She did not have anything else to say besides "we've been doing that for you since 2013." That was a direct quote. I asked her what's the different between a regular cleaning and a Periodontal maintenance and she said they're kind of feel the same. So, I said there's no proof that it was done on me? I didn't feel any different nor anyone told me differently when I came in every six months. She then told me someone else will give me a call back. I got a call from a third person name Deanne. She then explains to me why I needed the Periodontal maintenance and kept harping on how it's a policy to do it. She has all the answer in the world to defend the office and kept saying "we have notes, our hygienist put it in the notes". I was trying to tell her that I wasn't aware that was happening but she was busy giving me all the details on how her office has dental procedure and what needs to be done after a deep cleaning. All I wanted was to know WHY WASN'T I AWARE OF THIS at any point since 2013. She kept saying that it was best for our clients and yet she could not tell me why it wasn't disclosed to me. Another thing she told me is that the bill didn't get to their accounting department and it did not have the appropriate discount on there. She didn't know why I got that version. I requested that she print out a ledger of all my charges and she said "Belinda will call you back and print that out for you". Belinda called me short after and explained that the bill I got was correct. $50 of the $80 is deductible and $30 was for copay. Then she explained that's the case because I had the Periodontal maintenance and my insurance only covers 80%. She said all the other times the insurance discounted the $80. It must've been my insurance that change. I explained the whole situation to her but she said the hygienist is responsible for deciding what service to recommend me. She then told me that this was coded on my bill to Kaiser insurance for the past four years, which equals to about SEVEN TIMES of Periodontal maintenance. She then told me she could take off $30 and that's all she can do. At this point I was frustrated so I told my wife to go pick it up the next day. She spoke to Belinda and explains why I was upset but no one there could look her in the eye or to say anything to her. Belinda knows my wife personally and my wife usually is the one who call to schedule a teeth cleaning appointment EVERY SIX MONTHS. She usually will ask if anything will cost out of pocket. And I remember hearing her once at the dentist office that we do not want to do that deep cleaning maintenance (Periodontal maintenance) because it will cost us out of pocket. All in all, we will be switching dentist but I wanted to write a letter to you to explain why this office is unethical and might be violating insurance fraud. They did not acknowledge it was a misunderstanding or admit that maybe one of them forgot to tell me in the beginning that a Periodontal maintenance was performed on me in the SEVEN TIMES I was there for the past 4 years. Even though they said they have notes but I do not trust that since I wasn't disclosed or feel the difference between a regular exam/cleaning versus a Periodontal maintenance. If I didn't get that bill or Kaiser insurance didn't decide to "discount me" that $80 then Kaiser would've pay for Periodontal maintenance whether I got it done or not. I've been going to Dr .Tieu at Park Rose Dental for years. The dental hygienists are very friendly and do excellent work cleaning my teeth. The staff are great,They are very friendly, they offered to pull up my dental insurance coverage and explained everything to me. I have never felt the need to change to another dentist. However, about a month ago I made the mistake of trying a different office due to an insurance referral, and it was a terrible experience. I won't be going outside of Park Rose Dental again. Dr. Tieu is an expert when it comes to dental exams and procedures. He saved my 2 teeth that other dentist messed up . Dr. Tieu also did my implants for me and my husband, and we are very happy with the result. Dr .Tieu was quick and very understanding! No wonder why he has been trusted for all these years! Very disappointing experience twice. Both times I made an appointment for a cleaning only, I was quoted 98.00 but when I went to pay it was now over 200.00 because they did not have any xray's and did not have time to order them from Kaiser, next time I was also quoted 98.00 but when I went to pay it was 150.00 because the doctor wanted to look at her teeth. Never had a cavity, took fluoride and had braces.... Guess if you don't have insurance and are paying out of pocket, they want to get to take advantage as they don't have an insurance company to decline their fees. read more

I really liked Dr. Tieu DMD and I have had really bad experiences with awful dentists. BUT when I had my crown done his office staff told me that it would be covered by dental insurance. I knew my dental insurance wasn't that great so I asked them several times if they were sure services would be covered and I was told over and over again that they would....they even said they checked with actual insurance company TWICE over the phone. I was working 50 hrs/week and single (young) mother so I didn't have time to call and be one hold and check with dental insurance myself. Anyways, I got the procedure done (full crown, which isn't cheap by the way) by Dr. Tieu and he did an excellent job. A month later I get a bill for $600!!!! I'm thinking that maybe insurance is just a little slow paying claims but I DO NOT HAVE THAT SORT OF MONEY so I still got nervous and called Dr. Tieu's office right away. The person I spoke to (I think his name was Adam) was the one I had been speaking with this whole time told me that as far as he knew it "should have been covered". Fast forward through back and forth for a few months and they eventually got real snotty and started to tell me "well it turns out they won't cover the services...its not our job to make sure insurance covers things...its patients responsibility....blah, blah, blah" And I get the "its not their job to check insurance stuff" BUT if they said they did it then I believe them! AND why didn't they just tell me that BEFORE my procedure!?!?!? What really makes me mad/upset/disappointed enough to write this review is: I had seen Dr. Tieu for at least couple years at that point and when this happened I felt I was treated horribly by his staff!!!! And I even asked to speak with Dr. Tieu himself because he's so cool I think he would've had his staff appeal my claim or work out a payment plan so that I could still he him as I was paying but NO they told me "you have to pay complete balance before we can schedule you another appointment". They did not say this nicely. They turned very rude and short when I ended up with a "balance". Again I am a single mom working so much....and thats barely making ends meet! If I would've known my procedure wasn't covered I would've waited or looked into other options. I am so very disappointed in this office. And whats worse is I still really would like to see Dr. Tieu again for my dental services. Its been a while and I refuse to pay the balance because I feel like it was partly his staffs fault and I should at LEAST get it discounted or something.... I had not been to the dentist in a decade and the fact that the office could get me in on some Saturdays was a serious help to me! His assistants were all really nice, too. At this point, I have been about 3 times. Once for a consultation, twice for fillings. I had a lot to get done and he was great about informing me of what he was doing and why. That really put my mind at ease. He also told me jokes, talked about interesting articles, asked me about my home town and how I liked Portland. A few years ago I had a great experience with needed emergency work, Dr. was great as well as staff... Fast forward to Feb. I had a broken tooth/infection, Dr. Thieu was very rude and short towards me during brief appt.. I figured he was annoyed I rescheduled multiple times... or was just having a bad day? Never felt so dismissed before, was shocked because was so opposite of what I remembered...The Tech and front desk staff was nice, so I tried to just brush off the Dr's attitude... Found out the fix for one major problematic tooth would cost over $700 (with insurance), there is no way I can afford that right now, so had to treat infection temporarily with Antibiotics. Fast forward yesterday, tooth infection happened again (as expected, not their fault, but had to address the infection), I emailed and called to get a refill for antibiotics, understanding with the Corona Virus happening, might be tough to get an appt.... I have NEVER been talked so rudely before, the lady handling calls was horrible. I was SO NICE, ended up bawling. So desperate for relief, had to repeat over and over I can't fix or get it pulled right now, as she kept saying those are my options! I ended up begging in between my tears... She kept saying "What are you going to do in 2 weeks! The problem will return!"..... I GET THAT, but my hands are tied.... Finally after I wanted Confirmation that they were refusing a prescription, which would force me to go to the ER, she agreed to ask the Dr. again...Told me she'd be calling back in 10 mins and I better answer if I wanted prescription... After almost an hour, I called back and was talked to even ruder... I think if you have MONEY to FIX Teeth on spot or can make appt, You will be treated GREAT. I guess because I don't have the financial means to throw out needed funds, and will have to wait... I'm not Worthy of COMPASSION or Common decency, from the Dr or the Lady yesterday... I have never been treated so rudely. At one point I asked the lady What I did to deserve to be treated and talked to so badly... she said "Look, I am here to check the phones, we are flooded with calls".... Still doesn't mean you should TREAT Patients so rude....I am Thankful I got antibiotic again, will be seeking a Dentist that treats everyone equally with respect and care, as well as their staff (Staff was very nice, just not the lady with thick accent handling calls yesterday). Glad most have a great experience, I doubt my experience will matter, but had to voice something at my undeserved rude treatment. I am humble and a nice person, I just wanted help, even if it wasn't a long term fix. read more
