They recommended a 3-session "Deep Cleaning" that costs over $3,000, and five crowns. I have no insurance, so when I asked which crown was most urgent, the response was that all were equally urgent. Though merely "preventative." I requested a regular cleaning instead of the "Deep Cleaning" and they REFUSED to give me one. After previously telling me that would be part of this first visit. I've always had regular dental care from qualified professionals who always assured me that care options were my choice. And they all had the philosophy, "If it's stable, don't mess with it." It's very interesting that my previous dentist saw me 6 months ago and mentioned NONE of these problems. This leads me to the" conclusion that Gentle Dental is just trying to make a lot of money by urging unneeded treatments. My son looked them up on a consumer watchdog website and the vast majority of the comments said that very thing. Our bad for investing $100 in their "smile plan" up front. But I guess that's a small price to pay to find out that we need a different dentist. Gentle Dental, you're fired!

Also generally when you are doing monthly checkups (paid for in advance) you should have an availability that isn't a month out. If you had more staff and weren't only open four days a week till 4pm (one day a week at the Woodstock location), this wouldn't be an issue. Stop being greedy and hire more folks.

I was left there to wait with the tech and an uncomfortable suction shield/saliva ejector in my mouth. There was no apology and I was told my filling needed to cure which I think is a lie because they had used a curing light and I didn't have sit around while the second one supposidely cured after I expressed my dissatisfaction. It felt unprofessional and unsettling. From my understanding, this isn't standard practice during dental work, and I left feeling frustrated and unsure about the care I received. I think they overbook patients because I also had to wait awhile to be seen in the first place by the dentist. With a newborn at home I was not happy with the appointment running longer than I was told it would be.

So when I walked into this appointment knowing I would likely need full-mouth extractions, I was terrified. From the moment I sat down, I knew this office was different from any dental office I had ever visited. The staff's kindness and compassion immediately stood out. Patrick, the dental assistant helping with my care, was an absolute ray of sunshine. He treated me like we had been friends for years. I hadn't eaten that morning, and my blood pressure was a little concerning. Without hesitation, Patrick offered me part of his own lunch to help. Beyond that, he was one of the funniest and most genuine people I have ever met. When you're as fearful as I am, having someone who can make you laugh and feel comfortable makes all the difference. My 7-year-old daughter was with my wife and me during the visit. When she heard I was going to have surgery to remove all of my teeth, she became upset and started crying. Patrick immediately comforted her with a hug and helped calm her fears. The rest of the staff went above and beyond as well, taking her to the front desk, letting her pick out a toy, and keeping her company while I underwent my procedure. Dr. Nguyen was equally amazing. Throughout the entire procedure, she continually checked on me to make sure I was comfortable and not in pain. The team even covered me with a weighted blanket to help me feel more secure and relaxed. Every step of the way, Dr. Nguyen and her staff did everything possible to make sure I was comfortable, cared for, and supported. For someone with severe dental anxiety, this experience could not have been more positive. The compassion, professionalism, and genuine kindness shown by everyone in this office were unlike anything I have ever experienced in a dental setting. I do wish they would've just done it all in one go, but the teeth cleaning was less than 40 minutes. They were very good and wasn't too painful like other dental offices. I was able to get my husband in and he's had more work done and they have been great about it too. Highly recommend. Also side note, they close the office from 1-2pm for their lunches. I had to ask her to repeat herself multiple times because she was speaking so rapidly. At my first visit, everyone was kind and friendly. Dr. Hart was warm and down-to-earth. Once we delved into my oral health, I asked if she reviewed my previous records (which I had to request myself). "Yeah," dismissively. She then went into how she doesn't review previous records unless the patient has dental implants or something requiring maintenance, because she "meets you where you are." I've never experienced this at any dental/medical office before. After mentioning I had been to a specialist who recommended an extensive course of treatment, she jumped in and said, "Well, I can do that!" I was skeptical, as she isn't a specialist, but agreed since it was supposedly going to cost much less than the specialist's quote. Next, she started upselling me on a $100 "saliva analysis"...a cash-grab that turns out, won't in any way change your treatment plan. Mid-visit, I was basically held hostage in the exam room chair until signing the financial forms. They were all smiles while handing me the pen. During the next visit, when I asked how long my face would be numb, Dr. Hart replied, "EVERYONE asks that..." She then proceeded to say, "About three hours." My face was numb for six hours. At my third visit, I was injected by the dental assistant, on the wrong side of my mouth (oopsie!). Next, Dr. Hart was about to start working on the wrong side of my mouth. After I pointed out that I was numbed on the wrong side, and that Dr. Hart already worked on that said, neither the assistant, nor Dr. Hart apologized or took any accountability. Dr. Hart blamed the formatting on her screen, stating it displays the patient's mouth in reverse (and this isn't worth correcting?). I left with my entire mouth numb for six hours. At my final appointment, I had an equally abysmal experience. I was told by the receptionist that my visit would be 100% covered by insurance. Lo and behold, the hygienist, Aliesha, said I needed another multi-appointment scaling/deep cleaning which, you guessed it, isn't covered by insurance. When I replied I just wanted a basic cleaning, Aliesha left me in the exam chair for 20+ minutes. Upon return, she appeared frazzled, looked at her watch, and told me she could do "debridement." She rushed through the cleaning and scraped so hard I had to ask her to stop twice. My eyes were tearing. At the end, she told me she wouldn't polish my teeth for lack of time. A month later, I received an Explanation of Benefits from my insurance reflecting charges in the amount of several hundred dollars. I reached out to Russell Modern Dentistry via email for an explanation. No response. I sent follow-up email a week later. No response. It's now been 16 days and still no response. I've never been concerned my dental office would do more harm than good. Save yourself the heartache and go somewhere else. Anywhere else.
