I've never been a huge fan of going to the dentist, which I'm sure a lot of people can relate to, but Dr. Hunter and his staff are so kind and helpful that it's hard to be nervous when I'm there. While I wouldn't recommend letting yourself get cavities, if you do end up needing to have some fillings done, they play great music while they're working on you, so that's a bonus. I also have a super low pain tolerance so I usually need extra numbing before I'm good to go, and Dr. Hunter was really cool about stopping to adjust when needed - that being said, the numbing needle is no joke, so don't slack on flossing! Overall a great experience, and I really appreciate everyone there. read more

He talked me into a $$$ crown { that I know now I really didn't need }. I felt his drill break thru into the center of my tooth. He told me to "just get it pulled". He didn't even apologize. Judy still charged me $$$ on the way out. I got a terrible infection that permanently warped the shape of my face. I had to go to a Dr. for meds.Then had to get a root canal & a crown somewhere else. I wish I'd have avoided this place after an earlier incident with Judy. When I needed to switch an appointment time. She kept me on the phone for 19 minutes saying she was booked solid thru the end of the year. I knew that was b.s.. So I called back the next day. The appointment time got changed in under 2 minutes. I've been going to Dr. Hunter and his excellent staff for years now, so just have to share how much I love their work. Going to the dentist used to send me spinning and I'd come out with sweaty palms and heart racing. Today I almost dozed off while my teeth were being cleaned! Dr. Hunter is the best dentist, and I always notice how respectful he is to his staff. They have nothing to take out on the patient like other dentists I've been to. read more

Went here for a check up, cleaning and fillings. Everyone was super nice and helpful. I had went to another dentist about 3 years ago and only had a few cavities. When I came here they found more which I wonder if at the previous dentist they were just overlooked. They got me in within the same week to take care of all my cavities! Even while doing my fillings Dr. Hunter found smaller ones and took care of them on the spot. If I wouldn't have gone here who knows how bad the cavities would have gotten! They even did a complimentary paraffin wax treatment on my hands. Would definitely recommend! read more

What good can't I say about Hunter Dental? There's parking in the back, the office is clean and bright, and literally every member of their staff were so kind and gracious. We were late due to my incompetence trying to get across town during high traffic hours and everyone at Hunter was so nice about it, They called at my appointment time, rather than waiting the usual half hour that other offices do, to see where I was which I really appreciated as well as they helped to guide me to the office and parking as, again, I'm a little incompetent going to new places. During my appointment, they explained every step of the way what they were doing during treatment so I was never left wondering what was happening. I felt totally safe and cared for and I actually look forward to my next visit which is saying a lot as I have quite a few cavities and we all know how scary and intense that can feel. I have been to a lot of different dentists over the years, and once I found Dr Hunter, I never forgot him. I live in Vancouver and when I found out that he opened his own practice, I made the 45 minute drive because I know that he cares about me. He and the entire staff are so personable, friendly, and literally make you feel like you are their most important patient. They know how severe my anxiety gets as soon as I sit in the chair, so they are prepared with the following: Headphones, Blankets, Even a paraffin wax treatment for my hands. They talk to me about all my options for anxiety relief, and make sure to continually check on me throughout the treatment. Also, you can tell they are passionate about what they do. All their equipment is state of the art, and so cool. Dr Hunter and Erin will always explain to me what I'm looking at on the X rays. Oksana (front desk) is so sweet and accommodating to my crazy schedule and remembers my name. Most surprisingly, once I even received a refund check in the mail from them because my insurance paid more then they had expected and my out of pocket didn't need to be as much. I don't know any other company who would have done that. I would have never known otherwise. Their is no doubt in my mind that they are the best in Portland/Clark County. My friend had had nothing but horrible experiences with dentists and was hesitant to trust another, but he took a chance with Dr. Hunter when he discovered another broken tooth. For once he found a dentist who would listen, and was gentle and quick when getting down to the scary stuff. My friend couldn't stop talking about his experiences with the whole office, so I decided to give them a shot myself after having gone 5 years without dental care. Even though I'm disabled, poor and on OHP, the staff at Hunter Dental were above and beyond professional and friendly. They treated me like a valuable member of society, not someone who was looking to score free dental care. They even offered me a complimentary paraffin wax hand treatment during my visit, and my hands felt much softer afterwards. Dr. Hunter calmly explains everything before he gets started, uses adequate numbing solutions so you're never uncomfortable, handles painful, broken teeth with ease, and never shames anyone who doesn't adhere to brushing and flossing daily. He's often able to squeeze extra services into the same appointment because he is so quick which is a huge time saver for those who have to take time off from work to get their teeth cared for. I can't speak more highly about Dr. Hunter and his team. I've already recommended him to a few friends, and I'll be picking up more of his business cards at my next service. I had been putting off going to the dentist for a long while. Eventually, I ended up with a broken filling and a feeling of dread about having to pick a dentist from a long list of unknown names offered by my insurance. I actually ended up using yelp to determine which clinic to reach out to and was immediately & continuously pleased with my decision, Hunter Dental. The first time I called to see if they even accepted my insurance, Dr Hunter himself answered the phone, answered a bunch of my nervous questions and scheduled my appt. The damaged tooth appt and following overall evaluation were pleasant experiences and I am relieved to have this team as my go to in the future. Unfortunately I was told that I needed to have a wisdom tooth removed before any work could be done to the initial problem tooth. And informed that I should definitely get the remaining wisdoms removed as well. Super dread. It was at this point that I was referred to Beacon Oral Surgery.
