I just love having breakfast at a restaurant. We moved into this area last summer and our first visit to Jimmy's didn't disappoint at all. Neither did the second, third, or fourth visits. Our meals were great, served hot and fast. Neither my husband nor I had any complaints at all. Well, they do charge extra for certain breads (as I recall, bagels with a breakfast sandwich, and maybe English muffins too) without any mention of it on the menu, but it's just a small annoyance in an otherwise delicious visit. Servers are pleasant as well, and the place is clean. Plan to return here as often as possible. read more

I was looking for a spot to have breakfast last Saturday. Somewhere that wasn't a chain. I drove through the places in Cranberry to try Jimmy's. I was worried it may be slammed because of all the new housing out that way. I quickly found a parking spot and walked into a space that was bigger than I thought it would be and was half full. I was quickly greeted and drink order taken. After deciding what to have I placed my order. The gentleman waiting on me was very friendly and attentive. My food came surprisingly quickly. I believe one of the folks cooking brought it out. My coffee never went empty and I had three different employees check on me throughout my time there. I ordered the Breakfast Scramble with sausage. It was decent. The breakfast menu was decent. I also felt that the prices were average for what breakfast places are charging now. It was cheaper than other local places. The kids and I were driving past and decided to stop in for a quick bite to eat on our way to the Mars New Year Festival. I'd consider this restaurant your average diner/grille. Upon entrance, it's seat yourself and the service was pretty quick for a Saturday morning. Overall the food was decent but nothing crazy to rave home about. The prices seem a bit higher than your average diner, our bill totaled roughly $30 for the three of us and we didn't get drinks. read more

Diners for breakfast are my thing. So I tend to be more critical when I find one I've never been to before. This one is a good one, despite some rather dated reviews (1 & 2 years old btw). Service was fast and friendly. Breakfast was very tasty. And even when my hash browns were delivered incorrectly, with onions, they were super quick to switch them out for me. Everyone makes mistakes... it's how you act after you've made one that matters most. They were apologetic and pleasant! The atmosphere is fun with historical Mars, PA photos and some cool wall art. The owner came out of the kitchen to greet us and thank us for coming when we told our waitress it was our first time there. None of the issues outlined in the dates poor reviews exist there anymore. For me diner food quality is determined by the meat and at Jimmy's the bacon is awesome. Three thick strips cooked crunchy/chewy. Just right. Nice late breakfast on a weekend. On point service. The server was very young and nervous but did a good job. More than one server asked if I needed anything, a coffee refill and asked if the food was good. Easy to leave a good tip. Walked in and the waitress told me to sit anywhere which I did. I sat and I sat and I sat. No one ever came over to me to even ask me if I wanted a cup of coffee so I left. We came in with a group of 9 around 11:30am in a Saturday. I was disappointed that they don't stay serving lunch until noon. I'm not a huge breakfast eater but I can always find something. The prices are reasonable and the portions average (not large). Don't expect leftovers! I got the stuffed French toast. It was definitely very sweet. It was good but not amazing. I tried the biscuits and gravy. It comes with a ton of gravy with ground sausage. The flavor was okay. I wouldn't order it as my meal. The kids pancake was large. My wife and I walked in around 11 on a late Sunday morning, and while they weren't overly busy, it still took a pretty long time for our waitress to come and take our order, which sadly was the theme of the morning. My wife's poached eggs were done nicely, and my ham and swiss omelette was big (four eggs) and fluffy (nothing worse than a flat omelet). Unfortunately, the omelet was kind of bland. But at least it wasn't greasy. The main negative was that the waitress took almost 10 minutes to take our order, and then our food took another 35-40 minutes - this wouldn't have bothered us AS MUCH, but she never came by to check on us or refill our drinks. And when she finally brought the food, she disappeared again. If not for the other servers, I am not sure we ever would have gotten refills (or silverware). One weird menu issue is that my wife added a side cup of fruit, which cost $1.99. My omelet came with home fries, but i switched them out for a fruit cup. The upcharge for that was $2.00. So basically I could have saved a penny by just taking the home fries, throwing them out, and ordering a side of fruit for $1.99. Odd. On a positive note, the interior and atmosphere of the diner are pretty cool, and the cushions were the softest we have ever experienced in a booth. read more

Really good diner like setting. Our soup and chili were tasty and my club sandwich was delicious. We also had perfectly cooked eggs, Mancini's toast and pancakes. Add a nice big cup of coffee and excellent service made for a delightful break on a chilly and only for four rather than five stars was the iced tea tasted like Brisk fountain tea rather than fresh brewed. So maybe it's not much of a looker from the outside... or the inside, but they do have some good food. The interior is worn. There are photos of Pittsburgh screwed onto the walls and old tube TV's sitting overhead passively playing a sports channel. Seating is readily available and the elderly couple behind us is talking about who had been cremated recently. I watch as two stinkbugs crawl overhead while I ponder the crab-at-the-beach painting on the wall. A third stinkbug sits motionless, much like the table across the way waiting to be cleared. There's no doubt - it's a roadside diner. Our waitress was friendly. She took our orders and it wasn't long before the food was brought out from the kitchen. My pancake platter was a bargain for seven bucks. Two large fluffy pancakes, eggs, sweet sausage, and toast. Seventy-five cents bought me an upgrade to blueberry pancakes. I would have liked a different slice of toast (this is Mancini's bread, but sliced from the runt-sized end of the loaf). I was also shocked to see the size of the small orange juice. $1.99 for 5 oz shot of OJ? They weren't lying about the "small" size. I think I'll pass next time and buy a gallon at Giant Eagle. The bacon was sliced thick and nicely crisped but priced a little steep at $3.99 for a side order. Overall the food was good. I'd just as soon get breakfast here as Pamela's - especially if you're looking for options (sorta) around Cranberry. I'd like to see the prices adjusted. I'd happily pay a bit more for the food I got if they'd give me a reasonable glass of OJ with my breakfast. The interior could use a makeover - find a theme and stick to it. This is my second time at this restaurant. The first time, I had the pancakes...very yummy. But, my daughter had the special and I would recommend the special every time. Today, I had the vegetable egg white omelette with whole wheat toast. I thought I might go the healthy route today. The special was Caramel pancakes with whipped cream. I would have gotten the special if I was not going the heathy route. My omelette was so delicious. So much food...I could not finish my plate. My wonderful waitress (Sedona) allowed me to stick to my low carb diet by switching the side hash browns or potatoes out for yummy Bacon. I can tell its a place where the locals come. I've eaten here a few times and had pleasurable experiences. The food is very good and there's a nice homey vibe inside. The only downside is that both times I went it took awhile for my food to come to the table. Also a few small things were messed up like I ordered chips but got fries. Have heard many good things about this place and decided to try it out today as we do eat out quite a bit. We got there about 12:45 and there were about four tables/booths with couples and a group of about 12 seated together. The sign said seat yourself which we did. We proceeded to wait on someone to offer us menus but, though a waitress passed us 3 times, no one even acknowledged we were there. My wife commented that she never went in a restaurant where they even avoided making eye contact with you. Needless to say after about 15 minutes we got up and walked through the restaurant to leave and still no one acknowledged us. Apparently you must have to be part of their clique to eat there.
