We have been going to Parkside (and its former dental team) for over 10 years and always have a great experience. However, I want to share about the great care we received after our 9 year old's dental emergency. On Sunday, she fell at home and broke her front tooth--not just a chip, but a large chunk, leaving exposed nerve. After a bit of panicked searching I found the right number to call and was immediately transferred to the emergency on-call dentist. Even though Parkside was closed, in 30 minutes we were meeting with their colleague (shout out to Dr Ozzie of Danville) who took X-rays and then successfully reattached the broken piece of her tooth. She was so warm and reassuring to both me and my child. Less than 2 hours after the accident, we were headed home and my daughter was smiling again. The tooth looks great--you can't even tell there's a line unless you look very closely. Even though this dentist does not normally take our insurance, for the emergency, everything was still handled as if we had been seen directly at Parkside. I can't say what a relief it was that they had this service/partnership in place, so we did not have to worry in the midsts of the crisis! My daughter was then checked by her regular care team a few days later. Everyone was so kind and empathetic and really cared about her--they'd all seen photos of what happened. The staff also took my feedback that having to click through their menu options to find the emergency number was somewhat confusing in the moment, and within the hour messaged me that they had changed their voicemail to list the emergency number first, so future panicking parents won't be confused! I think I earned a few gray hairs from this experience, but really have nothing but positive things to say for how things were handled in the midsts of such a scary event. We urgently needed pediatric dental advice after being awakened in the night by our child's cries of intense pain. After calling over 40 pediatric dentists in the area, we were finally able to reach an emergency line where Dr. Do answered our call. Dr. Do was incredibly patient and took the time to listen carefully as we explained what our child was experiencing - severe pain, distress, and ongoing crying. He asked thoughtful, relevant questions to assess the situation and determine what guidance he could safely provide over the phone. Even though we had never met him, it was immediately clear how attentive and genuinely caring he was. Based solely on our answers and without access to X-rays, Dr. Do made the decision to prescribe antibiotics. At the time, we were unsure whether the issue was an infection, a cavity, or something else. When we were able to see a family doctor the next morning (on a Saturday, when no dentists were open), the doctor confirmed that Dr. Do had made exactly the right call - prescribing antibiotics due to the level of pain and the pressure from adult teeth on the baby teeth. Thank you, Dr. Do, for your quick thinking, compassion, and expert advice during such a stressful moment. I just had the best experience at Parkside Dental for my two kids. After feeling discouraged, rushed and under informed by our prior dentist, we sought a second opinion from Dr. Do at Parkside. I did quite a bit of research prior to the appt and was really hoping to find the right fit. Not only did Dr.Do take his time to thoroughly explain what he saw, he discussed several treatment options available and made sure I had all my questions answered. The hygienists were all so friendly and they saw both my boys at the same time for their x-rays and cleaning which made it so much easier for me. I was referred to Parkside Pediatric Dentists after the office my children were previously at changed their practice and the other changed their insurance. Cyndi, the front desk manager was very kind and helpful. I was able to get my 3 children seen right away. The office staff are welcoming and kind. My children left today saying "this is our favorite dentist so far". Making sure children are comfortable in these settings is important. You can see how the office is more of a family which shows the type of doctor your kids will be seen by. You can tell his employees are treated just as great as his patients. From the front desk check in , to Lindsey the RDA who greeted Charlee and got her a goodie bag, then picked out a tooth brush, prizes from the toy chest and the tooth paste flavor , Charlee loves getting in the chair for her cleaning! Lindsey was so patient and shows all the tools she is going to use so the kids are not scared! Dr. Don then came over to count her teeth and she loved it! Dr. Don was very thorough and explained what we need to look out for. At the end Charlee was given a Dino egg and a tattoo! I wish this office accepted adults, that's how much I fell in love with the process and staff. My son had been there before after an accident and needed an emergency tooth extraction. Dr Do came in even though the office was closed and took such good care of him despite the fact he was dealing with a scared/screaming toddler. Fast forward 8 months and my son went in for a cleaning and it couldn't have gone better. The staff is amazing at interacting with kids and making them feel at ease throughout the entire process. He didn't even need to wait for the end to get a sticker, it was the first thing they did! He got to make choices throughout the whole cleaning and was smiling through the process. Also, they have a pet turtle! How cute is that?! My son was allowed to pet him and he was awe struck to be able to. It was so nice having all my worries wash away so easily. Dr Don was great with my 9 month old son. My son has a rare condition where he keeps cutting his tongue bad on his new teeth that come in. Dr Don filed down his teeth and also suggested a few other good ideas. Working on a screaming 9 month old isn't easy but Dr Don was calm and gentle. My boys loved their visit to Dr. Don! My boys were naturally nervous about going to the dentist, but we parked in the (spacious) parking lot and got to walk into the building not having to worry about speeding cars in the parking lot.
