Walked in and was told by inside bartender to sit anywhere, we told her we wanted to sit outside and she said "No problem, pick any table out there" So we walked outside towards a table and got verbally accosted by the outside bartender who told us we had to go see "her girl" for a table. There were 10 or 12 empty tables, no one waiting to sit so the staff needs to get on the same page with the seating policy, no excuse to talk to paying customers that way. We ordered drinks, potato skins and a burger. The burger comes out but no potato skins. Had to ask the waitress who looked confused and said they should have been out already. After 5 minutes, she comes back and says they had to "get a new batch"...10 minutes later they finally arrive. Burnt on the bottom and edges and raw bacon on top. All of the food was sub par. Jessica the manager yelled at my entire party of 12 people. We simple moved under a tent as it started to rain and she yelled "you will die under here if lightning strikes." Yelled at my friend for "rolling her eyes" and threatened to call the police on me. All for simply moving tables. She then called our server "retarded" when she did nothing wrong. This was completely unacceptable behavior from a manager as my friends and I were simply trying to enjoy a night out. We were paying customers with food on our table being treated so poorly. I'll start at the end and work my way back. Worthy of minus one star is the fact that I was charged one dollar more than was stated on the menu. At closer observation, a small (?)3% plus charge for credit card that I feel had the bartender taken a moment or two could have told me about but she was all about talking as little as possible, I think. I could not catch her to say anything. Nothing particularly wrong with the service but she did not seem happy and was not terribly attentive with checking on people. Maybe they were all familiar faces that had no complaints.? So the food. I went hungry and came away full and with half a burger to take home with me. The other star delete from review is I ordered medium, it came medium well to well and was never asked how anything was. But tasty food. A nice local bar atmosphere and it was busy so that tells you something. I would definitely come back. The burger was one of the better "bar burgers" I've had, despite being a tad over cooked. I'm still in search of the best in the area though. The fries were ok, slightly battered or something and I'm still looking for the best fries too. Nothing extra, crispy outsides. Add your own salt. Came to this casual pub in Huntley after the first choice was closed. It looks more like a bar than a restaurant to be honest. Parkside Pub is a happening place. Busy but it wasn't crazy crowded inside. There's a cool patio so a lot of people sat there. After seeing the one restaurant was closed, we came in here and got seats at the bar. It can get pretty loud. There wasn't too much craziness though. Good prices. It's $5 for a basic cocktail like whiskey and whatever. As for the food, it's pretty basic. It's about $11 for the Soft Pretzels And Dips. The dips were cheese and mustard. I only tried the mustard, but it was reported the cheese was gross. The pretzels were okay but nothing special. For sure it wasn't impressive, but if we had to we could come here again. It's not like it was that bad. The drinks are good and the food is average so whatever. read more

Ambiance is awesome - eating outside in their patio is lovely. Spacious area with plenty of sun coverage. Fun music but not too loud - you can still enjoy conversation. Service was a bit lack luster. You could see a server dancing by the bar - they weren't too interested in bringing us a menu. Food was below average. chicken had a funky breading but the fries were spot on. The chicken sandwich tasted and looked like it was reheated and the salad was almost room temp. How about real utensils? Our meal was $44 for two (before tip) and real utensils would have been appreciated. Using a cheap plastic knife to cut the food was awkward at best. Jeff Lovell (owner) needs to read these reviews cause my god are they right. These one stars are about the same lady and MY review is about that SAME LADY as well. I came here on Saturday to pick up a DoorDash. I was a little lost so I approached an employee by the line. He told in a nice way that it wouldn't be ready for 5 minutes. I asked where I should wait and he pointed near the door. My friend who I was door dashing with and I waited by the door. We were not blocking it nor disrupting the service. It was only then when this lady at the bar with a gray bob hair cut and blue eyes who looked to be 50-60 years old called us over in a rude way. She proceeded to have a mental breakdown about how we "weren't helping anybody" by standing by the door. When i tried to talk and inform her I was picking up food, she immediately demanded a name. After giving a name she yelled in my face how the food isn't ready. I didn't say a word back I just stood there and took it VERY uncomfortably. She then proceeded to tell me to "do my job." when i WAS doing my job. After that interaction she proceeded to make fun of us to our coworkers by pointing and talking bad. After i received my food, I thanked the kind worker and upon leaving that same lady gave me a dirty look. Atmosphere was extremely hostile. Told everybody I know to never come here. Extremely disappointed and your customers should receive the same service no matter what. Just because I am a DoorDasher doesn't mean I deserve that treatment. Hope this helps !! I ordered from Grubhub which stated the chicken and waffles came with Mac and cheese and then required that I put an additional side such as fries. When the food arrive, my husband received chicken and waffles with no Mac and cheese or sides. I immediately called Parkside and asked to speak to the manager and was told no manager was on site. I eventually received a call back and was told "we were unaware Grubhub was stating the meal came with sides including the Mac and cheese." The restaurant took zero responsibility even when I pointed out that they should know what 3rd party delivery sites are putting on the menu. After the fact, I realized that their website listed word for word what grub hub listed about the side of Mac and cheese and I learned that it is illegal in the stay of IL to not have a manager on site so either they are full of lies or cutting corners. If this is the case, then I would be afraid to order here when who knows what other corners are cut. read more

I was not expecting a whole lot going in but was happy to discover that the food was pretty good and service extremely friendly. Neat little local bar vibe to hang out with family and friends. Parkside is a Huntley gem. They have a great menu that anyone who enjoys pub food will find something to enjoy. Voodoo Shrimp is my favorite appetizer with cheese curds and close second. The Pot Roast sandwich is simply the best. Tender meat topped with cheese and a cup of brown gravy dipping sauce. You need to absolutely try it. Seating can be a bit of a challenge when the weather isn't warm enough for the patio to be open but that shouldn't discourage you from going. read more

About a month ago I went to Parkside for Singo with some friends. What usually is a great time turned very uncomfortable very fast. The bartender with a short bob haircut came over to our table and swore in my ear about having a bar stool at a high top table, simultaneously she slapped me on the butt. Uncomfortably I apologized and tried to laugh off the situation until about two weeks later when I had another very uncomfortable encounter with the same bartender. My friends and I were sitting in a booth on a busy Saturday again for singo. She came over to our table and lifted my leg that I had hanging off the side of the booth bench and attempted to "make me fit" in the booth. This made me very uncomfortable and embarrassed and then she sat on my lap and proceeded to bounce on my leg. I was beyond shocked and uncomfortable and had to walk out. I find this behavior from the bartender very concerning and inappropriate even if it was meant in a joking manner. I hope this doesn't happen all the time. read more

We have eaten here three times, and it is turning into one of our 'go to' places. Last night, i had the chicken wings with teriyaki sauce, and it is no exaggeration to describe them as outstanding ! They were served hot and with sliced carrots and celery sticks that added to the enjoyment. My wife described her hamburger as one of the best she had. Went to parkside on a calm Friday night with four of our friends. We go to the bar to order an amaretto sour and three Vegas boms, I didn't see any issue with this but the bartender shrugged her shoulder and scoffs at us because we order those drinks....I thought it was a simple request but then a server laughed that we ordered those drinks. It was very uncomfortable to order what we like and get judged by it. We went up a second time and ordered a Negroni, the bartender then said "what did you say" I replied a Negroni she then said "are you being racist is this for a tik tok? Because I'm not making that". I simply showed her the ingredients which is three 1oz ingredients.... Then said "oh I can't make that". I came here for the first time in a while early there was like 15 people in there i sat down and the main waitress who was directing traffic came to me and said "can I help you" in a snarky tone I said ya can I order ? We've loved coming here in the past. We have family in Huntley and it was our go-to spot, but the last couple of times have been only okay. And today was not good at all. Our server was wonderful. She really was very friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, but the patio is a mess. The tables and brick patio need a good power washing. There were crusties hanging from the underside of the tables, and the top of it was sticky, and there was food all over the ground out there. This led to a NASTY fly problem. The flies are AWFUL. Also, as we were eating, we noticed another server (tall red head girl), who must have just been clocking in for the evening, walk up to the serving station at the bar with her own drink canister (like a Yeti or something) that she was drinking straight out of, and she proceeded to scoop ice into it with the ice scooper, but some ice was going in, some was bouncing off the edges from which she was drinking..., wholly unsanitary.., I was glad we were drinking beer and not anything with ice in it! One final issue was the consistent rolling of gross, grungy full garbage cans through the dining space out on the patio.., it's not only gross to have that wheeled by you while you're eating, but holy crap the noise from that was super annoying.., not much attention paid to diner experience here. So..., while I'd give our server 5 stars, I'd give the management here ZERO stars and tell them to keep their bartenders and serving staff off their phones, and invest in a cleaning crew, it's clearly been a while. (Hope the health department doesn't check in on them.., that could be trouble for them.) read more

We went in last night. It was a Monday and the Blackhawks were playing. Once again the servers and staff are outstanding. I honestly wanted something that I could not get anywhere else.. They actually had homemade green bell pepper soup. It was delicious. the only thing I would suggest is to serve crackers with it. But it was a big bowl for $5.50. I highly recommend it. My husband ordered a ceasar salad. It normally only has romaine lettuce. This was kind of a stepchild to the traditional ceasar salad. They also serve the dressing in a very tiny cup. I suggest the next size up. You could only dress a quarter of the salad. They were also out of silverware at the time so they gave us plastic. We ordered the Philly Steak sandwich and the Fire burger. One with tater tots and one with fries. There was coleslaw with the Philly Steak Sandwich and i was given no fork. So I borrowed the plastic fork from hubby. Overall, they earned another star from me for the service and food. My only suggestion is that they should be ready at all times. Have been pointed to this place my locals, but never made it in. Drive by it weekly and think "gotta go there". Finally, due to having business in the town, decided to check it out for lunch. Interior is like a log cabin and the odd shaped interior is interesting. Bet it gets busy on the weekend. I ordered a salad - it was ok. Bacon in it was over-poweringly salty. The sugared walnuts were also overpoweringly sweet. Chicken was over-cooked. All in all, not good - I will not order salad there again. Hubby had the parmesan beef melt sandwich and it was *perfect*. We could easily have split it between us and both walked out full. Seasoned fries with it were great too. Cole Slaw had garlc - a surprising and good change from regular slaw. Oh yeah - ordered onion rings (our must have) and they got the R&D Seal of Approval. So - for the most part, happy. Just a little unhappy (salad). Waitress made a point of coming over and chatting a bit, which was welcoming. Giving it a 3-star for now - A-OK, and if we make it back (for the parmeson melt!) or an after the stables beer, perhaps I'll revisit this review. Would I recommend: I would send someone in the area over there, with a caution about the salad. Wouldn't tell someone to make a point of going. Would I return: Yes, if it was convenient. read more
