I called in an order and was quoted a 20-minute wait. Since it's only about 10 minutes away, I gave it a little time before heading over... perfect timing, because the food was ready right when I arrived. The owner handled checkout himself, was friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant looked clean and well-kept which is always a great first impression. Once home, we dug in. The chicken parm sandwich was excellent: generously cheesy, with a tangy sauce that avoided being overly sweet. The bread was lightly buttered with just a hint of garlic, adding flavor without overpowering the sandwich. The chicken itself was thick, juicy, and very tender... not dry, not greasy, just done right. The way you expect it to be. The ribs were equally satisfying. They were very tender, tho not quite falling off the bone, but close enough to show proper cooking, they had a rich, smoky sauce that had real depth of flavor glazed over them. The fries were the only minor miss; they could have been crispier and benefited from a touch more salt, but they didn't detract from the overall meal. All told, this was a great experience and exactly the kind of quality local spot worth adding to the regular rotation. The menu is extensive, and there are several other items I'm eager to try. Well, anyone can have an off day so I decided I would just stick to their pizza which historically had been delicious. Fast forward to today, I was returning for a 2.5 hour drive and thought I'd treat myself to a delicious pizza for today and preparing for tomorrows incoming snow storm. I picked the pizza up and headed home. Sadly, I should have checked it there before leaving...the bacon was all burnt (tasted burnt not just looked burnt). Yes, I did pick off most of the burnt bacon, but got $30+ for a picked up pizza that is not really ok with me ... beyond that the crust was soggy and I couldn't really pick up the pieces to eat them. It will be an extremely long time before I order or go there again. Makes me very sad as this used to be a staple of mine and it is SOOOO close to home. Good luck if you choose to give them a try...

Finally the pizza arrives - no apology from the manager or empathy from the server. Then she has the nerve to bring us our bill with no compensation. Can someone show some type of caring about customers here? I couldn't take it so I said I'm sure you are going to make some type of compensation for the wait time of our pizza. The server looked at us like a deer in headlights. I wanted to ask her if she was the customer how would she feel? She returned and gave us an excuse about their WiFi being down so she could not give us a new bill with $10 off. FYI the slot machines were working fine. I asked if she need to use the hot spot on my phone (I couldn't resist). We brought friends from out of town here and were embarrassed by the bad service. Again the pizza is great which is why return. You are making it very hard to want to give you out money. How disappointing! They have such a huge menu with so much to try and explore from sandwiches to wings to pasta dishes and even home made desserts, but the pizza is a staple and some of best NY and Detroit style I've ever had anywhere. Let alone in Illinois. I come here at least 2x a week and I'm always left more than satisfied. It's no wonder they've been voted the best in the area for almost a decade now. Dave Portnoy should venture out and leave a review. I think he'd approve.
