Checked out this pretty cool small brewery in Huntley. It isn't the attention getter that More is, but the beers are great and a pretty sweet hang out. Sew Hop'd is located in the building next to the tracks. Maybe there's not as many to choose from, but they make these with better care. There's some pretty unique ones, and at pretty good prices. A small brewery like this has fewer beers. It's the only bad thing that can be said about it. The part that makes up for this is that the beers are great though. It's about $7 a pint. Pretty comparable to other microbreweries like this. Had a few the last time here. Of the ones that we tried, the best was the Take The Stage. It's a session Indian pale ale. There was also a strawberry cheesecake one that I would have tried if it didn't have lactose. Here's another great local brewery to get some cold ones and chill. It's mostly known for the beers, but there's also entertainment such as live music. There's not really any food, but they have tubs of Von Hanson's pretzels, and there's food trucks on weekends. read more

I have been to Sew Hop'd a couple of times now and it's a really cool vibe. If you wanna grab a beer & time with friends, this is your place!! It has a really cool patio area outside & you will often see lots of dogs there. I've noticed at times they have events, live music, and different food trucks. A great beer menu for sure with plenty of unique choices. The service was good, always a friendly face when ordering your beer or asking about drinks. I didn't get great pictures of this place (the food truck lured me in honestly) but I'll be sure to be back & get some good pictures of all this place has to offer. Stopped by late afternoon for a cocktail. If you like Hazy IPA's, Hey Hey Hazy is for you. It's comparable to Hop Butcher. Hung out on outdoor patio under an umbrella. Watched cars pull up for brews and the delicious smells of the Del Toro Street Taco truck. Service was good. Seating inside is nice too. The place is big and offers something for everyone. read more

Just came here last Sunday when a band was playing, and we were able to grab 3 tables since there were 15+ of us. When walking through the entrance, there is a seating area and then a long bar straight ahead. The drink ordering area if you are not seated at the bar is at the left side of the bar, and you can either close the bill right away and order drinks one by one, or you can keep a tab open. It's nice to have the option. To the right of the bar, there are bathrooms, and to the left is another seating area (the one we sat in with the band playing). The second room also has additional bathrooms available, too. The bartenders were all very nice, and they had good drink options, including their own branded beer, which they brew themselves, as well as their own canned beer. My parents really enjoyed the bloody mary, but I didn't try it, though I ordered a beermosa after my sister raved about it and I loved it! I also enjoyed their Key Lime Berliner Weisse beer (which tasted exactly like key lime pie) and the Sew Blonde lager. The brewery themselves did not offer food options; however, they had a local BBQ restaurant's food truck right outside, and you were able to bring the food inside. It seems it is normal for them to partner with local food trucks, so I love that they support other local businesses! Overall, I'd love to visit this brewery again and try other beers, including their seasonal or rotating ones. read more

Went here on a Saturday afternoon on the way home from a birthday party. Sat at the bar and had excellent service. We were able to taste a few beers before deciding on what full pour we wanted. Highly recommend the And Sew It Goes and Treadle Sours Key Lime sours!! My boyfriend is a coors light guy and said he doesn't have favorite beers but the Key Lime is now his favorite! My first time here. They had some very good Midwest brews. I had a couple IPAs, a stout, and a Pilsner. The inside is very nice......Sew Hop'd is Located in what used to be an old dairy production facility in the early 1900's, Sew Hop'd Brewery of Huntley, IL shares its home with Union Special, a manufacturer of industrial sewing machines with a history that dates back to 1881 and which provided much of the innovation that served as the foundation for the American apparel industry. The industry was decimated in the early 1990's with the introduction of the North American Free Trade Agreement (copied from their website...) Decided to stop in as we were driving through town. Both of the beers that we tried were unique. The first one was a strawberry cheesecake sour made with lactose. It was delicious. It definitely tasted like a cheesecake. The other one was the pineapple mango. To me, it tasted like a fruit roll up. Honestly, both of them together was an excellent combination. Great brewery with a good selection of tasty beer. Tap room is nice and service is good. I would recommend posting some signage asking young parents to show some respect for other patrons and keep their small children under control. There were several running unsupervised around the tap room on my last visit. In all fairness to this establishment, I see this way too often at other local breweries as well. Not sure when it became acceptable to bring little kids to a bar that has zero amenities for kids. As far as I know, Chuck E. Cheese is still open, and also serves beer with the added benefit of fresh, hot pizza and a plethora of entertainment for kids. I love their Nitro Stouts and I am just getting into IPAs and they have some good Mid-American IPAs that are hoppy but not too much they have a food truck for meals and you can bring your own food in: the food truck can be expensive and you are still hungry. Next time we might bring our food in so we can eat and enjoy some quality beer. read more

Line out the door last Friday for grand opening. Came back Thursday and still a good crowd. Nice taproom with outdoor space! Good beer selection and I certainly haven't tried them all but so far it's pretty standard craft brewery libations. Better than the other local brewery down Algonquin Road. I'll be back to try more and update as we go. BTW, love that they don't hit you with tax on your drink. Update - been here a couple times now and the product is solid, really don't like the inch and a half or so of head on the pours. Every beer I've had here came that way so it's not just a specific beer tender. Don't remember that at any other craft breweries. Expecting a full glass for the price. Outdoor space needs some atmosphere also, but then again maybe that's coming as time goes on. read more

I really hate to admit it, but I've become a beer snob over the years, and have been to a few micro breweries and haven't enjoyed myself....but this is not the case here. The beer is really good, prices are great, and the staff is super friendly. They have food truck info posted on their site, with other events as well. Their layout of seating (and ambiance) is fantastic. They also have menus of local restaurants that you can order from and have delivered. They do sell bags of pretzel chips (carmelized onion flavor was legit!) too. We will definitely be frequenting this place! Solid brewery in Huntley in an awesome historical building with an outdoor patio and regular rotation of food trucks and events. I wish they had some sours, but the beer they have is delightful, especially the IPAs and stouts. My personal favorite is the blueberry stout. Family-friendly with a variety of board games the kids will enjoy. One of the things I really love about Sew Hop'd is how it's inspired by the history of the building, it really embraces its roots.
