We went in for our dogs severe gastro symptoms and I had no idea what to expect. The team tended to our every question and were accommodating including asking us if we needed something to drink and showed us to where the restrooms were, like they were hosting us. Dr. Molly was very thorough and explained the situation with our dog (acute pancreatitis :( and Kayleigh was our nurse tech who was awesome and also super knowledgeable. The space is clean and it's fully staffed and the team works so well with eachother and you can tell they massively respect eachother and actually like eachother too. Our dog is home still sick but we have all the meds we need and we pray she gets better. I'm glad they were there for us when we needed our dog evaluated. Lola thanks you all

*First time experience* Review for a Cat Believe the reviews, this place is phenomenal! While I hope all of our fur babies will never need to come here, sometimes things happen and unexpectedly. I want to be transparent that I was at SAGE earlier in the day-- let's just say I don't like the route they wanted to go and I went to VEG few hours later. As we know, cats are masters at hiding pain and discomfort. The below review was from July 15, 9pm at night. My 5 1/2 cat Bebe's symptoms: 1. Not eating or drinking and it was 95 degrees 2. No potty at all (I have a litter robot, plus two other cats) I brought her in after 15 hours of these symptoms. A bit "quickly" but as I mentioned it was hot out and my girl LOVES food. About the vet: I called beforehand, very nice gentleman answered, didn't rush me, didn't treat me like another number in the queue. I also want to call out, no AI crap! A real human answered when I called I didn't have to select "press 7" etc. I arrived about 20 mins after the call and was greeted warmly by the front desk. Extremely clean place, coffee and tea bar, freshly baked cookies! We were promptly given a room and Dr Molly came in within 15 mins of our arrival after the nurse took vitals. Dr Molly is a pure assets to this vet. Before she started talking, she sat down on the ground to not overwhelm my cat. Her voice is very sweet, she understood my concern and gently got Bebe comfortable. Treated her like a little scared child vs just some animal with no feelings. She got to Bebe's level vs throwing her on the metal table. Dr Molly listened to every little trivial thing I said about the past 24 hours because I wanted to be transparent and she determined we should do an x ray and blood work. I was promptly given the link via phone to pay + outline of costs, clear! I did have to wait about 2 hours for results of the xray due to the hour I was there (9pm to midnight), the results were sent out for review. I received them back and they are the clearest x rays I've ever seen, better than a human hospital, seriously. They send you a live link to download them too. Diagnosis: she came back in, same calm voice vs the chaos she had in the vet (few emergencies popped up with dogs) while I was waiting. She gave Bebe fluids and anti nausea injection and an antibiotic injection. I got home 1am and she started eating! I couldn't believe it. Her red blood cells were a bit high (inflammation), thank god no blockages. What I think was wrong: we had a little stress when I got home with a big box and she ran between my legs and got stressed running into them + the door slammed same time she got freaked out running into my legs hard.

Waiting for her to throw up.

It's never a good thing when you have to take one of your fur babies to a vet ER. Unfortunately my puppy ate a grape & I went into full panic mode. This place was the closest to my house, so I rushed here. From the front desk to triage to when the doctor finally spoke to me, everyone made me feel a little more calm. This is an emergency clinic, so they will go by which patient is more of an emergency & if your case isn't, then you may have to wait. They saw Paddy & did treatment right away. Induced vomiting, blood work, & fluids. We were here for only a few hours due to waiting for blood work results, but overall a good experience. The techs were all so great with my baby. Definitely recommend this place.

Early this evening, we found a squirrel nest that had fallen from our palm tree in our backyard. We found two babies that also fell with the nest. One baby didn't make it. The other was still alive. The mom was not around, and I wanted to do what I could to save this baby. I was able to grab it and take it inside. I wrapped it in a kitchen towel and got our electric heating pad to help keep it warm. I called the Peninsula Humane Society, but they were closed. They do partner with the Veterinary Emergency Group in San Jose, which is open 24 hours. I called them and explained that I had a baby squirrel that fell from our palm. They said I could bring in the baby squirrel, and they will care for it until they are able to transport it to the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA in the South Bay. I got the baby ready for transport. Since the hospital is about 30 minutes away, I had to find a way to keep it warm. The animal hospital recommended using a sock filled with rice and then microwaving it until it's warm. I followed their instructions, and it worked perfectly. I placed the warm rice-filled sock in a small box, put a small towel over it, and then placed the towel-wrapped baby on top of that. My husband drove us to the hospital. When we got there, I explained the situation to the staff. They had me fill out a form for my information and how I found this baby animal. They were very helpful and said they will take good care of the baby. I was so relieved that we were able to bring the baby squirrel here, where it will get the proper care it needs.

For the sake of your pet... please take them elsewhere. We usually go to SAGE but VEG was closer. & I never want to "talk ill" of a bet clinic.l However, I've never in all my years working for veterinarians, and even as a client of pets who've seen many clinics in their life as they are over 14 years old-- I've never seen the extreme disregard for professionalism and quality of care as I witnessed when I brought my dog in. I'll start by saying, I was not the only client who saw this. I witnessed an owner trying to advocate for his dog who unfortunately passed not shortly after. RIP sweet pup! It was a busy night but I called ahead. I explained my dogs symptoms, SLUDGE symptoms. Once we arrived (6:00-6:30pm) we sat in the middle of the flow until passed midnight.. as my dog declined in their care. She was passing before my eyes. I wish I was told they were busy, I wish I would have known what I know now. At this point all we knew was that she ingested something. It was either 1. mushrooms or 2. Pesticides from the gardener. But my poor dog sat on their floor.. vomitting, unable to walk or lift her head out of her own drool or vomit.. started spewing bloody diarrhea. While the doctor keeps telling me we have to identify this mushroom. "I can't treat her if I don't know what for" were her exact words. I worked with poison control for a few hours and FINALLY identified it. This is somewhere around 10:00-11:00pm. After no immediate action for her treatment, I questioned the doctor if I needed to take her elsewhere because she was dying. It was heartbreaking to see her that way.. the smell was something I may never forget. She said they were finally starting treatment. We went back and forth because she was explaining liver enzymes which is yes very educational but per herself and poison control- her liver was not the concern. Her heart was. So with that information I wanted the clear picture of her treatment since we've waited hours for her to only worsen and I became more frustrated / direct with my questions. She explained that the treatment remains the same. So EKG, fluids, and monitoring with anti nausea meds.. So I was confused and confirmed with the doctor that identifying the mushroom did not change the treatment? She confirmed thats correct. However, poison control recommended a specific medication (that was added to the treatment but never administered) that would counter act the mushroom itself.. Atropine was what she needed. I finally was given the estimate as she advised it would be texted to me and I approved it immediately. I was not informed a following message for the payment would be sent. I actually overheard an employee talking to another employee "Bella's owners haven't paid". Which baffled me because i was ready to spend whatever cost to get my baby taken care of. I was just busy holding her out up so she didn't choke on her own drool or vomit.. and using towel after towel to clean her and the surrounding area up. :( Instead of just advising me that payment was needed, I overheard it from an employee talking among themselves. We immediately got on to pay of course but simple communication could have helped. Though, this did not impact the quality of treatment or the urgency like you would think. My partner put on her EKG and I had to ask for the charcoal to administer myself. They said she needed to be more alert.. but no efforts were being made to try to stabilize her more.. attaching why photos I did take which wasn't many. After staying with my dog the entire night and little improvement from the fluids. She was now drinking again and interested in food at around 6am. Right before discharge, I let them know that she was still dripping bloody diarrhea (because she lost control of her bowels hours ago). They said "that's fine and normal." Not even an hour after discharge she started showing all the same signs. We took her to SAGE where they were concerned with her current state. Started to not be coherent again and losing control of her bowels again. So we admitted her right then and there. It was hard because we just spent so much money at VEG for us to do the same thing with another clinic. I'm glad I did though because she received fluids, ekg again; but also finally got administered Atropine. I was told more than once that "she is an old dog" throughout our time there.. Regardless of age, I brought her there with trust that they would help. Always always advocate for your pet and honestly, if you can, take your pet elsewhere. Anywhere else. (Some of the techs were kind but unfortunately kindness was not enough during this situation but I do appreciate their attempt).

Evan(vet tech) was so gentle and caring.

We received stellar care for our Great Pyrenees after he managed to eat part of a rawhide bone and developed a partial obstruction. The team treated him with such compassion, patience, and gentleness during a very stressful time for us. After monitoring and caring for him for about 8 hours, they felt comfortable sending him home, and we truly trusted their judgment and care. Thankfully, he bounced back beautifully and is now back to being his happy, fluffy self. We are incredibly grateful for the kindness and reassurance they gave both our pup and our family.

I had no expectations when I was referred to VEG by my regular vet during an urgent visit today because all of our emergency vet visits in the South Bay had been terrible. The moment I stepped in, I immediately knew it was different. My cat had an accident on the way there so I went in first to ask for some gloves as I am used to him throwing up in the carrier and had all the cleaning supplies. The receptionist, Marisa, offered to help clean up & throw away the trash and even gave me a towel. I said no because I thought they were going to charge me cleaning fees like all the other vets do, and they didn't. Once we went in, we were welcome into the open area, which I really liked. I can see what everyone was doing and how the staff treated each other. They were joking around and helping each other out; it really showed me that they actually liked working there, and that makes a big difference in the veterinary industry. It was Dr. Lin who came to understand the situation and let me know there might be a little wait. Marisa then took my information while the vet tech, Ryan, assessed my cat. He was sweet with my cat. The whole process was calm and kind, and I was even offered beverage while we waited. Then Dr. Wickham came to be our assigned doctor. She sat on the floor and patiently let me walk through the whole situation. She prepared a room for us so my cat could try to use the litter box. The only thing I would say is the room wasn't the cleanest and had stains & hair on the couch and the counter, but I could only imagine how chaotic it gets and my positive experience there was enough to make up for it. Not too long after, Dr. Wickham performed ultrasound and walked me through potential solutions. She was attentive to the medical records I provided, and the important thing was she did NOT push me to get unnecessary work done. She was honest and transparent on what we should do as she prepared the estimate. She first suggested a couple things but after some thoughts, she even told us to not do it yet. I hate it when veterinarians suggest 100 things that are obviously unnecessary and can't tell me why I need it. Lastly, I am surprised to see they included the ultrasound in the visit flat rate and not as a separate item. They also extracted a urine sample from my cat and did charge me all the annoying disposable fees etc. It's always stressful when you bring your pets to emergency, but VEG truly made me feel like we were welcome and were safe to be treated. I will 100% recommend this place to everyone I know who has a pet.

We came here in March for rapid breathing and the techs found out that our baby boy had HCM and drew fluid out of his lungs and pericardium, a condition common with Persians and maine coons, our Killua was both. They referred us to Apex Vet, a cardiology specialized clinic operated and opened by Dr. Block. We saw Dr. Block for two months afterwards and received amazing care, until our boy cut his tongue this Wednesday whilst rummaging through trash. Unfortunately the clopidogrel, the blood thinner that was administered alongside the stress proved to be very deadly. Thus he was rushed to the emergency which gave him anti nausea and pain controller. He was unable to swallow his torsemide and pimobedan which stopped his fluid build up from happening, and on Saturday at 3am, my siblings took him here, where he was given tests, and his condition was unsalvageable. They made a difficult decision to euthanize him and he fell asleep peacefully with the help of the vet. Thank you VEG, for helping with the cremation process, urn process, and euthanasia. It has been a painful day and a half to say the least, but we are incredibly grateful for your love and care.

I took my 8 yo cat, Luna, to VEG in April on a Saturday am as she had stopped eating and lost weight and she was hiding. It was a slow time so we were shown into a room right away. Xrays and bloodwork was ordered. When the bloodwork came back showing failing kidneys I was told that I could leave her for 48 hours to get her back to being ok. They gave her a prognosis of 1-2 years. That would have cost $9K. I did consider it but I sensed that she may never come home and I wanted her to die at home with her feline sisters close by. So I took her home for palliative care. The vet gave her subcutaneous liquids to help keep her hydrated and pain killers and appetite stimulant. I held her all weekend and made plans to have her euthanized the Monday afternoon. I had a couple of questions over the weekend that I called the vet and he answered promptly. And since the vet figured out what was wrong with Luna with bloodwork, the X-ray costs were reimbursed. No price gouging! This place is great! I also liked that she and I had a private room and I could see every procedure that was done to her. I would definitely go back with another pet for emergencies. I thank the VEG team for their compassion and empathy during that really difficult time. And Luna died in my arms surrounded by so much love that Monday am.

A few months ago, Lola suffered a ruptured disc in her neck and needed emergency surgery. It was an extremely stressful and frightening experience for us, especially after watching her suffer from excruciating pain for weeks. Dr. Vitale immediately brought Lola in for an MRI to verify what she correctly suspected was the problem and performed Lola's surgery right away. We truly could not have hoped for a better outcome. The surgery was a huge success, and today Lola appears to be completely pain free and is back to her happy, normal self. Seeing her comfortable and enjoying life again means more to us than we can possibly express. We cannot thank Dr. Vitale enough for what she did for Lola and for our family. She gave our dog her quality of life back, and we will always be incredibly grateful. Dr. Vitale is truly our hero, and we feel so fortunate that Lola was in her care. She was good about explaining pricing and scheduling. She got my dog on the schedule. Then I got a voicemail saying it was canceled due to staff illness, telling me to call right back for a new date. I called back immediately -- at least four times. Same runaround: long holds, no answers, "leave your number, you won't lose your place in queue." I received a response offering an exam appointment (which I expected), along with the soonest available opening, but no information about pricing -- not even the cost of the exam itself. I replied asking for both the exam fee and availability. They responded by booking an appointment date and time, again without answering my question about pricing. I had to follow up a third time explaining that I needed to know the cost before confirming, and I was finally told the exam would be $60, which seemed reasonable. Since it was actually my brother's dog, I sent him to the appointment. After the visit, he was quoted $1,600-$2,000 for treatment, which was unfortunately out of his budget. While that happens and isn't necessarily the issue, I was disappointed to find out he had been charged $80 for the exam instead of the $60 I was originally told. When I reached out via text, they explained they "forgot" to apply the new client discount -- something that had never been mentioned to me beforehand. They offered either a refund or to apply the difference toward future services. Since we had already found another clinic that could do the same services for around $1,200, I asked for the $20 refund back to the card. After that, I never heard back. No confirmation of the refund, no apology for the overcharge, nothing. I understand veterinary care is expensive, and it's not their fault my brother is a broke college student. But basic customer service and communication go a long way. Unfortunately, based on this experience, we won't be returning or recommending this office.

He took the time to explain everything thoroughly, answered all of my questions, and genuinely helped ease my concerns, which I really appreciated. Honestly, this visit made me realize that this is the level of information and communication I should be receiving during a vet appointment. I felt much more informed and confident about Peach's care here that I'm strongly considering switching to this place as our main clinic. The staff was just as wonderful. They were attentive, kind, and clearly knowledgeable. They were very thorough throughout the entire process and made sure I understood what was going on every step of the way. One nurse went through the quote with me and let me know what to expect. She also told me to feel free to take my time and decide if I want to do the cleaning for Peach. I knew I could trust the team and decided to go through with it, so I had the cleaning scheduled. Dr. Bhinder personally called me to let me know when Peach would be ready for pickup and he even followed up the next day to check in on how she was doing. The level of care and follow-through truly stood out to me. After discharge, one of the nurses was refreshingly honest and even mentioned that Peach was a little feisty & tried to fight some of the staff during the procedure... but he also took the time to walk me through all of the aftercare details clearly and patiently. Overall, I felt listened to, supported, and reassured that Peach was in great hands. Because of the excellent care she received from the team, she now has some pearly white teef and no buildup/tartar! If you're looking for a vet team that is thorough, communicative, and genuinely cares about your pet, I would highly consider Curtner Pet Clinic & Hospital.

Great customer service and extremely reasonable pricing!…read more I found them online and reached out by email. They responded quickly, explained the process clearly, and made everything super easy. I booked consultations for my three pugs, which were only $49 each -- definitely more affordable compared to other places. Originally, we went in for dental cleanings, but during the visit they discovered two of my dogs had ear infections. They cleaned their ears and provided medication as well. Overall, it came out to around $200 per dog, which I still felt was very reasonable considering everything included. We also updated their rabies shots, and while they did offer other vaccines/services (which is expected since it's a business), they were never pushy about it. The doctor was very honest and straightforward. He let us know that only one of my pugs actually needed a dental cleaning since he never lets us brush his teeth, while the other two had healthy teeth and wouldn't need cleanings anytime soon. I really appreciated the honesty instead of trying to upsell unnecessary procedures. I would highly recommend this place to any dog owner looking for good care at fair prices!

I made three ER visits and each was met with compassion, patience, professionalism, and genuine concern for my dog's comfort and well-being. The staff took the time to explain what was happening, answer my questions, and care for my dog as best as possible. Sadly, despite everyone's best efforts, I ultimately had to say goodbye to my beloved boy. Dr. Jorgensen helped me make that heartbreaking decision with kindness and dignity, and they made sure my dog's final moments were peaceful and humane. Their compassion during that moment is something I will never forget. Losing a pet is devastating, but knowing that my dog was surrounded by people who truly cared made an unbearable experience a little better. I am deeply thankful for every veterinarian, technician, and staff member who cared for him throughout that week. If you ever find yourself needing emergency veterinary care, I highly recommend this hospital. They provided excellent medical care, and also compassion, empathy, and humanity when I needed it most. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking care of my boy and for helping him leave this world peacefully and with dignity. I will always be grateful.

Our most recent visit our cat got a sticky (glue) fly trap stuck to him, which may seem like a silly thing to bring a cat to emergency for... but the level of freaked out that he was, we were having difficulty handling him, and he was bleeding and we couldn't determine from where. I called to ask for advice on how to handle the situation, which they gladly gave. The person at the front desk even called me back after she talked to a technician and had additional information for me! We ended up taking him in, as we just couldn't get things under control on our own and he was clearly in a lot of pain. A technician took him back to assess him quickly, got him cleaned up, located the source of the bleeding and cleaned his wounds. And of course he was an angel for her... (why can't he be like that for me?!?!). Once again, everyone was incredibly friendly, helpful, and efficient. They never minimize what you're dealing with... if they thought it was silly reason to be there, they sure didn't make it seem that way to me. They took our concerns seriously and were very supportive, and took excellent care of our cat. The other thing I really appreciate with the team here is that they aren't trying to add on or charge for unnecessary services. Costs are explained clearly and feel very fair. I haven't once felt like they were taking advantage of the emergency nature of a situation. Again... really good people here.

The total came out to be $353 for the kennel cough vaccine, heartworm tests, the flea/tick/heartworm pill, and a general checkup.
