Love how the staff is so friendly, gentle, informative and thorough with our fur babies during their visits.

The vet is just there to spoon fed you every kind of charge they can rack up. He is NOT there to actually help you. I recommend calling different places finding a low exam charge and only going in for what you actually need. (Alternatively you can go to a website that sells pet medicine) Do not let this vet with an expensive car sitting in the parking lot over charge you. There is always another vet you can bargain with. Trust me, I'd take your pet somewhere else. I witnessed the overwhelming overcharging first hand: Someone overly nice like this is just taking your money right out of your pocket!

Once in a lifetime do you have the opportunity to be able to truly trust a veterinarian whole has had many many years of experience and knowledge to know what is best for your beloved best friend. This special vet is Dr Gregory Anderson! I am so grateful to have both my dogs under his care. He is truly a gem. Thank you for your excellent care. You're rolling now - got any more to add?

This has been my vet for over 30 years. Dr. Anderson has been a literal life saver. I was really sad when he decided to semi retired. But he definitely deserves the break, considering the great work that he's done. I can't write enough good things about Luna. She is always so helpful and caring. She always finds a way to somehow get my dogs in during a emergency. Thank you Luna.

Came into this vet on a Saturday for our family dog's recent eye issue. The doctors were caring and doing everything in their efforts to help us! We discovered that Mimi went blind in her right eye due to Glaucoma and an Ulcer. Although, with medication prescribed and recommendation of a cone, Mimi is on her road to recovery thanks to the help of Calaveras Vet Clinic! They've helped us get into contact with an eye vet specialist as well. Super caring staff truly have a passion for helping animals over money costs. Highly recommend to bring your loved ones here to get annual, affordable visits.

I have no words to express my gratitude to all the staff, from the receptionists to the vets, and very specially to Dr Satwinder Bajwa, DVM. I started visiting the clinic in search of an available clinic for travel health certificates. However, what started as a routine visit before travel evolved into a more intensive treatment. My dog already had a heart murmur, and when the time came for in-depth heart checkups and treatment, Dr. Bajwa and the clinic became a lifeline! Last week my dog was gasping for air, almost died, but thankfully they did an amazing job stabilizing him. We thought we were going to lose him, but after a few days, my dog is back to his old self, alive and able to be comfortable again. Thank you to all the staff at the clinic, their patience and compassion. Rocket is here because of all your hard work.

Ask the Community - Calaveras Veterinary Clinic

What would a preventative dental cleaning cost for a 4 yr old dog (20 lbs) including the subsidiary procedures associated with it (like bloodwork, anaesthesia, etc.)?

Is the new client exam still $29?

    No, it is $58

How much do you charge or nose-to-tail exam?

Not true - I was charged a LOT more for a puppy exam with no vaccines. Pricing here seems to fluctuate wildly.

How much does a check up cost?

My dog has gone there for 13 years. Her last annual exam cost $58.00. Where expenses add up are on the annual shots. For example: DHPP Booster: $30.00, Ova & Parasite: $54.00, Heartworm test: $52.00. Dr. Anderson is the best. Unfortunately he is now…

What is their working email address?

We are planning on adopting a puppy. The breeder requires us to have the puppy be seen within 48 hours. With covid, are you seeing new patients? What are the costs?

Yes, we are seeing new patients. It's $29 for the first exam. We also have a puppy package for $295 which includes all the necessary vaccines, an exam, 2 tech visits, fecal test, and a single dose of Trifexis (3 in 1 chew to prevent fleas, ticks,…

    Do you groom bunny?

No, unfortunately we do not do grooming here, sorry for the inconvenience.

Is this office open during covid? My friend recommended but numerous emails are NOT answered using email address on website. Are they that slow?

Yes they are open. Give them a call. They will help you right away.

Does this clinic offer HCM scans for cats?

    Yes

Do you offer puppy package for newly adopted puppies? How much is it and what does it include?

Yes, our puppy package is $295.00. it includes 1st exam &2 tech exams 3 DHPP vaccines…

My 18yr Maltese has had severe CHF for 2yrs now. Beside she has right side failure, just this month, she is beginning to need belly taps. This may become a regular procedure. Is this a procedure you do?

Yes. You have done well to manage a patient with severe CHF for 2 years. As you probably understand, you are getting into the more difficult period as the fluid builds up in the peritoneal cavity.

Do they also have boarding for cats for 3 weeks?

    Sorry, no boarding service provided.

Finding a good vet that is at a privately owned hospital has been a challenge and after reading their website and hearing good things from a couple of colleagues, I drove over an hour each way for appointments with each of my dogs. I saw Dr. Cauvel and was very impressed with his knowledge, he recognized it was better for me to handle my super excitable malinois vs have her go into the back for her vaccination, and most importantly, when I presented him with a more complex issue on one of my dogs and I presented my thoughts, he didn't treat me like my background was somehow a threat like I have experienced before. He went out of his way to review some information and photos I emailed after the appointment and we decided on what to try. Unfortunately, this ended up being one of the most upsetting experiences I've had with a veterinarian. My cat had gotten covered in car oil and likely ingested some of it because she was scared and I couldn't catch her right away. By the time I finally did, she had gone downhill. She had lost weight, was drooling, her tongue was sticking out, and her mouth looked burned and ulcerated. I was scared and brought her in because I needed help fast. When Dr. Saini looked at her, it felt like he wrote her off almost immediately. He looked in her mouth briefly and told me it was a tumor and that she would not have a good quality of life. I asked more than once if it could be an ulcer instead, especially because of the car oil exposure and the burns in her mouth, but he still said it was a tumor. There was very little explanation, very little compassion, and no real sense of urgency. What bothered me the most was that I had to point out that she was clearly having respiratory distress before that was even addressed. Only after I kept asking questions did labs and X-rays come up. By that point, I honestly had no confidence in the care being provided and chose not to move forward with testing there. The next day, I took her to another vet. They diagnosed an oral ulcer, not a tumor, and started treatment right away, including IV fluids and oxygen. That was heartbreaking because I feel like her care was delayed when she needed help the most. I know not every diagnosis is easy, and I don't expect any doctor to be perfect. But I do expect compassion, urgency, and a willingness to actually listen when an animal is clearly suffering. I left feeling like my cat was dismissed instead of helped, and I would not feel comfortable bringing another pet here.

I have seen both father and son over the years for routine exams as well as office visits for my dog. Frankly speaking, I wouldn't trust Dr. Mundh Sr. with serious or emergency pet issues. I feel like his responses have been blunt and/or dismissive whenever I've asked him questions, and I wouldn't trust his diagnosis for something serious. His son, Dr. Mundh Jr., has a better bedside manner and he correctly diagnosed and treated a condition my dog had when his dad sort of brushed it off during my visit with him. Dr. Mundh Jr. talks fast though, so sometimes I feel like I'm rushed whenever I'm with him. Good bedside manner is critical to me, and I haven't always been satisfied with the bedside manner at this clinic over the years. I most likely will return to my previous vet hospital.
