We have two rescue dogs. Both came to us with heartworm. One dog was not spayed and needed dental cleaning. The other simply needed heartworm treatment. We have been to Parkway Vet Clinic since we moved here 30 years ago. I won't ever go anywhere else for care. Our dogs are both healthy now and are keeping us young. Parkway had rough spots but they are certainly coming back. ALL the doctors and techs are human and I know that mistakes could be made. I would be devastated if I lost my dogs but we work alongside Parkway to keep them healthy. read more

We started working with Parkway in 2021. At the time they were short staffed and getting in was a challenge. However, they were always polite and spend the time with me and our family pets that was needed. Over the last few years they have brought on new Vets and technicians and their availability to work in emergencies have improved. This was welcome due to having an older dog and 2 immune compromised young cats. Unfortunately these situations kept bringing us back to Parkway frequently. Recently our beloved dog, Shelby, had a series of surgeries and was ultimately diagnosed with melanoma. We did everything we could to save her and Parkway was there every step of the way. The morning we had to say goodbye to our pup I was banging on their front door just before opening. They helped me get her inside and the vet came to see her right away. Unfortunately the news was not good. It was time to help her cross. One of the technicians sat with Shelby and promised to stay by her side, which she did, until I was able to return with my husband and son. So my family used Parkway for over 25 years and just recently moved. Today my dog had an emergency and needed to be seen asap and I was on my way but figured id call on the way. The lady on the phone said since I had not been recently that I couldn't be seen and that i needed to fill out the new patient paperwork and couldn't get in until after thanksgiving. I needed my dog to be seen for an emergency and was turned away after 25 years of my entire family using them for all our dogs, cats, and snakes all because that specific dog hadn't been seen recently enough. We had been loyal customers and took our for babies to Parkway for three years. Due to tragic events my husband lost his vision and he had the wonderful opportunity of going to Southeastern Guide Dogs and getting a guide dog to help him be more independent. Our beautiful boy Pierce also helps our family. We took Pierce to Parkway to get him established and we brought comprehensive records with us. We made two appointments in the last two weeks to get Pierce a health certificate so he could travel on planes with my husband. The vet said they wouldn't do it the first time and the second time they also told us that our healthy boy needs to lose 8 pounds. We were so hopeful this would be a smooth transition but it wasn't. I I think that the vet technicians and the nurses do the best they can and this isn't their fault they're relating the message but we are so disappointed and so disheartened and unfortunately we were going to take all of our for babies to a place where they will be welcoming of guide dogs and of disabled people read more

Parkway had been our clinic for many years ( & many $$$ ). we lost our last dog a couple of years ago. About a week ago we became aware a feral cat had given birth in our woods. I called them to get some basic info as to what we could do. The sum of their info was to call the local animal shelter. We were willing to pay for neutering &/ or spaying. they weren't allowed to give even a ball park estimate. I offered to pay for an office visit to talk to a Vet to gather info, but couldn't get an appointment until September. VERY disappointed. When our next puppy arrives we will DEFINITELY look elsewhere for our puppy's health care. read more

A veterinarian that by their policies who wont offer discounted rates for strays and injured wildlife aren't good people much less a good veterinarian. Vets should be full of compassion and understanding with a desire to help any animal that comes through their doors and have some portion of their work be set aside for giving back to the community. Its so very detrimental to have people that could care less, ie zero compassion or a good moral compass that guides them to help where they can. I don't understand anyone who claims to love animals as we expect Veterinarians to do but wont do what they can within reason as part of service to the communityg to offer any discounted reasonable rate/volunteer services towards the animals in the community in which they serve. When anyone becomes a form of doctor for people or animals I believe they must have compassion for life along with a belief in their oath/pledge to protect and preserve all life to go with it and not just provide help to the ones that come with large bank accounts. I dont care for anyone that we can tell based on their policies and prices that does what they do all for the money. Its impossible to be great at what you do when its about money. I wont get in to the way we were taken advantage of and given a lesser quality product for a higher price than we could have gotten else where. I have had animals and beloved pets we would spend as much as a child to save. I have had amazing Veterinarians in other cities I have lived care for our fur babies and help us when we brought in stray or injured wildlife so it's shocking when someone takes advantage of us when we are helping animals. read more

If I could leave a zero star I would. We were established patients for many years. One of our dogs started seeming down, low on energy and only eating the minimum. We called the clinic for advice and they said to just keep an eye on him. After two more days without him improving we called again, and once again we were discouraged from bringing him in and to "keep an eye on him". The next day he was worse, we called and basically begged for them to see him. Dr. Marquart refused to see him and said we could go to the emergency vet. We called the emergency vet and the said bring him over right away. Our 8 year old Doberman was very ill and we had to put him down. The outcome more then likely would have been the same, but the lack of compassion from our established vet (Dr Marquart) is unforgivable. Maybe it is time for him to retire if he lacks compassion and empathy for his clients and their pets. read more

We had a dental cleaning procedure scheduled for our little one (13 years), and the services could not have been better! The professional staff, tender loving care, and follow-up reports were thorough and exceptional! He even had a nail trim and ear check, while asleep. I started going to Parkway Animal Hospital because of a senior dog who recently joined our family but will be taking all of our pets there from now on. Dr. Dooley and everyone who has helped me at Parkway have been beyond wonderful. The hospital staff is caring, professional, and friendly. From our first visit they've never rushed us like some vets who seem too busy to address everything each client needs. Dr Politte and the other Doctors, Vet Techs, and staff are extremely kind and helpful. When I had to euthanize beloved pets last year they were so sympathetic and sensitive to my feelings. They saw how upset I was and treated me with kindness, letting me go straight to my car and settling up with the front desk later in person or by mail as I chose. My latest visit this year they explained everything to me regarding the health & treatment of my remaining dog & cat and let me keep them in the exam room while I checked out. The Vet Tech assembled the medicines I needed and so I could take them to the car and then settle up with the front desk before take my pets from the exam room to the car. So much easier than trying to do everything at the same time. read more

We have used Parkway Veterinary for over 15 years and can recommend them very highly. They are a wonderful combination of caring and knowledgeable. The process of scheduling, checking in and out are very organized and smooth. There is a good clean waiting room, large enough that pets are not crowded. We have rescues that are not friendly with other dogs and there is room to have them in a full waiting room without a problem. We have found their prices to be quite reasonable. One dog needed two surgeries early in his life, I had been taking him some where else but when he had problems the other vet said he had no problems within 10 minutes of seeing the Vet at Parkway, we had an answer and solution to my dogs problem! I never thought I would be past disappointed and into anger. I came in on Friday after my dog swallowed a treat. They came out and took my maybe. 20 minutes later the vet, a fill in Dr. Susan Gaasch came in to tell me she had an enlarged heart. She focused on that issue. No mention of what to do next to relieve her of the treat. I told them exactly what it was and size. They called to tell me they were treating for her heart and she expressed part of the treat. I could come in after work. Arrived and I was assured it had passed and she eating. They told me her throat was irritated and it would be a few days. The poor thing did not eat and by Sunday we rushed her to the emergency vet. She was blue. She was in an oxygen cage all night. Again treating for heart because of the Dr. Gaasch the visiting vet. We picked her up in the morning and barely made it Parkway. X-ray done and yes the treat was still lodged in her throat. They did surgery to remove and because of her lack of knowledge and listening to the owner nothing was done but it her esophagus become necrotic and ate a hole through it. We were able to say good bye. Please be careful of who sees your animal. I thought they took care of her to learn they allowed her suffer for almost four days. No animal should ever have to suffer like that after a professional is in charge. You trust that they are trained and we put our trust into them to realize they are untrained. Now we wait for the next bill. Oh I see I must give it a star read more

We brought our dog here for treatment when she was having trouble breathing. They took blood and X-rays and diagnosed her with a stomach problem. After two weeks of expensive dog food they sold us, and a course of meds, she was doing worse. We took her to a specialist who looked at her original X-rays and identified a huge tumor in her lung. They took her in for surgery but unfortunately she passed that same day. My biggest regret is that she suffered her last three weeks - she couldn't breath well due to the mass, and we were simply giving her a different dog food. read more

Parkway took in my other dog for boarding free of charge when my husband had to take the other dog to AL. I thought that went above and beyond!
