My car broke down on the freeway 400 miles from home. I was in Oxnard on a small job when it happened. I needed to have this thing fixed within a couple of days but still needed to get my job done. I googled auto repair and one of the first names with a good yelp review was Parra's. I called and explained my situation and Chris said don't worry I will take care of it for you. He was a mile from where I broke down, overheated, so I let the engine cool and drove it to him. Again Chris says don't worry I will take care of it, I work from 8am to 11pm and I will get this done for you. True to his word Chris called in a quote that was very reasonable, it is a BMW so parts cost more, and finished the repairs and got me back on the road again. Honestly wonderful mechanic. I'm in nursing school at Ventura college and my car started overheating on the way to class. We are only allowed to miss two days so I really need my car! This was the closest place so I called, and was told to turn my heater all the way up and roll down my windows as this helps let out some heat. I made it there safely and I was greeted right away by the owner. I met his wife, and was pleased by how professional they both were. I had my car back the next day. The man, whom i assume is the owner, I didn't ask-- was amazing and friendly from the get. He was helping someone else when I got there but wasn't long. I needed a light changed, we had a friendly conversation while he changed it for me. Then he checked all my lights to make sure everything was up and running. Then i asked him about ky cruise control. He drove my car around the block, figuring out how to use it. Then he had me remove some stuff from my passenger seat so he could drive me around the block and show me, a few times, how to use my cruise control. In the end after all that he said i owed him nothing. He absolutely made my day. And in case you're wondering, i did tip him. Even tho i think he is the owner. I couldn't not. If you do not want to be ripped off for a $130.00 used car auto inspection service by a lazy mechanic, then avoid this place at all costs! I brought a used 1999 Toyota Rav4 to Parra's Auto Repair to be inspected, as I had just bought the used car from and wanted to make sure that nothing was seriously wrong with my purchase. I took the car in on a Sunday and was told by Parra that the inspection could be done the following day if I brought the car in at 7:00 am. The next day I brought the used car in and asked how much the inspection would cost and how long it would take. Parra said that a thorough inspection would cost $130.00 and only take a couple of hours. I agreed, left the car, and returned at 10:00 am. The car had not moved from where I parked it at 7:00 am, and Parra said he needed more time. I returned at 4:00 pm to find the car in the same place where I parked it at 7:00 am. Parra told me to just take a seat in his office and wait. I waited for an hour while he served other people, talked on the phone, and the last five minutes he drove my car into his shop. No sooner did he come out with a list of "problems" with the car totaling over $3,000 for parts and labor. The car only cost $3,000. My greatest concern was Parra's evaluation of my car's rear disk brakes having 15% padding left, so I took the car to a brake specialist. The brake specialist informed me that my car was built with rear drum brakes where padding is applied only to disk brakes. I was shown that the rear brakes were fine. Parra noted that the car needed a new timing belt, however, I already knew from a label under the hood that the car's timing belt was replaced and had at least 60,000 miles of use left. I can go on, but needless to say, this mechanic is a ripoff artist that will lie and scam any sucker that falls for his fraud car evaluations. I recommend that no one should stop on by and ever give this place a try! read more

Chris really helped me out when my engine seized. Free estimate, great customer service, good communication over the phone and secured storage in his shop. He was honest with the information on how to proceed next. (because I already knew the answer) He even picked up the tow fee! The shop had several $$$ muscle cars on the racks and the quality of work was visible. They put in some long hours and are there working late at night. I had them replace the engine on my Nissan 300ZX that had been sitting in my driveway for two years while I finished college. Now that the car has been resurrected, I have developed a working relationship with the owner and his #1 mechanic (who used to have one of these cars). They addressed issues that I brought up and pointed out additional things my car needed while I was there so he could show me in person. I now have a mechanic I can trust for the rest of my vehicles. read more

He takes great pride in what he does, and makes sure everything on your car is in great condition before he tells you its ready. Every time he has worked on my car he throws in a free car wash. Very honest guy lets you know whats wrong with your car and makes suggestions, estimates are free. Shop is very secured there's cameras so no need to worry about your car :) No need to worry if you get out late from work its opened long hours even Saturday and Sunday. I took my 2002 Dodge Ram Work Truck to this mechanic, it has 250,000 miles on it. It was running really rough and had a bunch of small issues I've been putting off for awhile. Since it's my work truck I need it daily and any repairs require me to rent a truck. The father/ son team here understood this and fixed countless things in this truck in 3 days. It's running like brand new and they detailed it to look new. I'm an exterminator that drives 5,000 miles a month. This is A TOP NOTCH SHOP!! Chris is the best. He actually cares about the quality of his work. I didn't find him any slower than any other place I've received service in SoCal. I was impressed with the job he did with my brakes. He noticed that my brake line was a hot mess due to a previous brake installation. He essentially rebuilt my brakes and the job cost less than a standard brake job at other places. Bonus is that he's there 7 days a week and is always available. read more

I highly recommend them! I came down south having car problems around thanksgiving and they were able to fix a gasket/valve leak which was causing oil to get into my engine. They opened up my car and were able to actually show me the oil and then when they were finished they opened it up again to show me the difference after the repairs. I really respected the time they took to show me what they were doing to my car. I don't really know much about cars so I like that I was able to use this as a learning experience as well. This place tried to rip me off for $60. The head mechanic, I think he said his name was Christian, ACTS like your amiga... Yes, I said amigA... but he's a petty thief. I refer to him that way because he called me "amiga" under his breath before there was any dispute at all. I guess he didn't think I'd notice. I corrected him saying, "It's amigo," and he was back to smiles and denial like a true coward. When I called him out on scamming me for a part, he didn't even have the balls to speak with me face to face. He had his little buddy Victor do it for him. Victor, you should really think about what that says. He clearly uses you like a bitch. The Bureau of Automotive Repair will be visiting them within the next two weeks. Adios amiga. read more

On a road trip coming down from Santa Barbara and lost power steering in Ventura. Cris was one of the only mechanics open on a Sunday afternoon. Found out it was the power steering pump and was quoted a very fair price for parts/labor. Start to finish took 2 1/2 hours. Despite my short notice he knew it was an emergency and stayed after hours to make sure he got my truck fixed and ready to go. Super friendly and knows his stuff. So I was having some troubles with my car , unexpectedly it would just not turn on? I did yelp this shop and it did have some great reviews so I obviously decided to try it out . I was help by this one guy and he did not inspect my car he just told me a tune up was necessary , I myself do not know anything about cars so I told him to go for it,which he did and he did not provide any paper work what so ever .. The next day my car broke down . I did go back and spoke with the manager and he himself told me how unprofessional his worker was . He was suppose to inspect my car first before stating it needing a tune up and was suppose to give me paper work to fill out and a copy for myself .
