I used this shop to do a fluid change in my truck's differentials and they were above and beyond excellent. Chris on the phone scheduled me in very easily, and Victor the mechanic was excellent. I dropped my truck off in the morning, picked it up in the afternoon. They did a great job with everything - my interior was clean, extra gear oil (I brought my own) was placed in my back seat area, and everything underneath looked perfect. a million thumbs up! spun a bearing on my 06 Trailblazer and nowhere to go....luckily I saw a garage by Oxnard Blvd and went in to ask if they do engine repair...Cris said bring it in, I'll take care of the towing (on a Sunday morning). couple days later, my fear just became a reality....engine rebuild! Told Cris that I don't have money for something like that and he assured me that they will work with me on the payment. couple days after, went back and saw my engine taken apart and the crankshaft (cylinder 7/8 rod bearings) was badly damaged and the front differential was almost out of oil...he then said we'll get this done in two weeks... a week and a half after, went back and saw my engine almost done (put back together) and it looked like it just came out from the factory! Cris (the son), said it will be done in two days... Moment of truth, 5-23-2015, got a call and my truck was almost ready just waiting for the detail crew to clean it up! couple hours after, I was there in the office NERVOUS on the payment. My car was running weird so I had it looked at by a guy working at o'reillys. After a quick test and examination of the battery cable wires he thought my car might catch on fire. I was stranded in Oxnard waiting for my boyfriend from oc to come get me when Chris came to my aid. He looked at my car and told me I would be on the road tonight. He had me follow him to his shop that was full of people, including his own family and a lot of customers he seemed to treat as such. He made a few adjustments, re-tested my car and even took it for a test drive. Chris would not take any money from me even though he saved me from a major expense and an even bigger headache. I wish I lived closer because this is one auto mechanic that not only brilliantly understands cars but cares about people. This place is the best auto repair shop that I've went to!! My family lives in downtown LA, and my uncle's friend visited us on Thursday from Japan. So my dad took him to Santa Barbara and Solvang yesterday. After he stopped by Ventura for lunch, he tried to turn on the engine but he couldn't. So he called me for help, and I drove over to Ventura from downtown LA (my dad is not fluent in English). I started to yelp, and there was very few auto repair shops open. So I called wherever opens yesterday, and it was Parra's auto repair. It was such a luck for me! I called here and a guy, who was on the phone, asked gently about what had happened, and gave me clear directions. After we got to Parra's auto repair, there was an owner, named Christopher, checked my dad's car. He checked everything, taught us about checking car conditions, and gave us the directions what to ask in the Toyota dealer for engine checking. Not too many auto repair shops are open on Sunday or make the services available 24 hrs a day. Well look no further. Parras auto repair is open on sundays and are a call away if needed after hours. My civic gave up on me on way to Oxnard to visit family on a saturday afternoon. Once AAA arrived to tow my car most shops were closed and was worried I would not have my car fixed on a Sunday to get back to L.A. After some research on the internet I came across Parras auto repair. Lucky for me the shop was open Sundays. I was greeted my Cristobal the owner/mechanic and felt very welcomed and at ease knowing my car would be repaired. Cristobal was very polite and explained everything in detail. He ran various diagnostic tests to identify the exact issue my car was having. He also went out of his way to check everything else on my vehicle and even topped off all my fluids. If im in the area and my car needs some maintenance I will def be back. Def will recommened my family in the oxnard area to visit Cristobal for any repair needs. We can't say enough about the great service we received here! We were visiting from out of town when our 2000 Ford F-150 truck broke down. We were able to get it to the shop and he had it repaired and ready in less than 24 hours! He said it would be done at 2pm and it was done! He is a very honest businessman - he quoted us a price and that is what we paid! The cost was about 1/4th of what the dealership would have charged. I was in Oxnard on business and my car went Wrong. I took it to Parra's and spoke with Chris about it. He was there late (he's pretty much always there). After a diagnostic check; he gave me the dreaded news that it was a problem with the catalytic convertor.(Gasp) Everyone knows that is an expensive repair. His quote was fair, but more than I wanted to spend to fix my somewhat seasoned vehicle. I told him I would most likely try to sell the car for whatever I could get for it, and purchase a new / pre-owned vehicle. Chris spoke with me about costs of maintenance and what it would likely cost for me to get a new vehicle: monthly payments, maintenance and what not. Bottom line; he convinced me that spending a little more than I wanted now for the vehicle was still less than it would cost me if I purchased a new/pre owned vehicle. So I gave the go ahead for him to repair my trusty steed. Chris even offered a reasonable payment plan. Long story short - too late!- I had him fix my car: that was 2 months ago, and I would go back to him for any car trouble in the future. read more

I have been taking my Volvo sedan to Parra's Auto Repair since 2007 whenever my car has given me trouble and needed to be repaired. The owner, Cristobal Parra, is certainly one of the most knowledgeable, honest, and efficient car mechanics in Oxnard and possibly in all Ventura County. He has literally saved me thousands of dollars in car repairs; one time for example my car felt like it was losing strength, I needed to depress the gas pedal much harder than usual to make it run, especially after stop signs and when going uphill. It fell that the problem was getting worse and since I was close to one of the dealers I took it there. The estimate they gave me to have it repaired was $4,000. I decided to wait and get Cristobal's opinion and I took it to him later that day. He inspected the car and very rapidly found the problem. One of the parts was missing an O-ring (a little ring that creates a leak proof seal between fittings). He placed an O-ring that very moment which completely fixed the problem, and he didn't charge me anything at all! Cristobal has helped me like that with my car for the last few years. About one year ago I moved 60 miles away but I still take my car to him when it needs to be repaired or for maintenance. Since he knows the distance that I have to drive to get to his repair shop, he gives me very fair discounts for his services. That together with the trust that I have in him make the long drive worth it. Also, when my car needs other services that he doesn't offer, like new tires or specialist services, he refers me to such places and gives them a call before I get there to make sure I will get appropriate service. Once again, I can attest that Cristobal is a very honest and efficient mechanic and he is very knowledgeable about different types of cars. He works very hard to help his clients and he usually opens his repair shop 7 days a week. His schedule is Mon-Fri 8am to 6pm; Sat 8am to 5pm; Sun 9am to 4pm. read more

Helpful and honest. My car desperately needed oil but I caught them about to close and too busy. So they gave my car some basic oil to give me a couple days til I could come back and get a full change. Definitely helped me out and didn't even charge me for that bit of oil. I hardly ever review but this experience stands out. These guys are honest and don't take advantage of anyone. This counts for a lot since the auto repair industry is notorious for that. My VW Golf needed a new radiator. I read good review about Parra, so I took the car in on a Wednesday. Cris told me he would call the next day with a diagnosis. I never heard from him, so late Friday I called, but he was too busy to talk. When he did return the call, he said he would have the car fixed by noon Saturday. Late Saturday, he called with more excuses and promised to have the car ready Sunday. Late Sunday evening, he called to say his mechanic did not show up. Monday afternoon, I went to pick up the car and it would not start. They ran the new battery dead and didn't know what was wrong. When he called Wednesday to say the car was ready, he told me the air conditioning condenser would need to be "checked" soon. When the car was brought to the shop, the AC worked great, now it won't work at all. I had to go back to the shop to retrieve the engine cover he didn't put back on the car. I wouldn't let him work on a broken egg beater. The guy is a complete BS artist and is only getting one star, because I can't give him a zero. Save your time and money-AVOID his shop! read more
