As of a few months a go I went to Sergio's Auto Repair to get a transmission looked at for my mother's Van. (And to be fair Sergio seemed to be a bit boggled by the issue I brought him but he still went ahead and did a repair...) Fast forward a few months and the issue still persisted, and the transmission ended up not shifting into other gears, so I ended up taking it to a specialty transmission shop yesterday (03.18.2026). All in all I would recommend this shop but maybe just for simple repairs and nothing too out of the ordinary since they do not specialize in any particular area of autos. *Also, it would've been better if they just said that they dont or wont touch the transmission. Unfortunately the repair that was done here may have ultimately damaged the internals because of lack of knowledge with this vehicle. *On another note, I called the number provided on Yelp (and also what I had saved on my phone) and another "Sergio" answered claiming to be a car wash person and he was confused on how I got "his" number. If they did change the number they should disclose it on Yelp so others wont call the wrong person/ repair shop. (Number I called was 805.483.7901 as it shows on Google and Yelp.) This is not to bash anyone, im simply stating that if a shop is not knowledgable on a particular vehicle they (the shop) can choose to offer the client an alternative shop instead of taking on work they cant fulfill or diagnose correctly. I have been a customer of Sergio's for nearly 20 years, and the crew--Chava, Cuco, and Eddie--consistently provide excellent work, friendly service, and decades of experience. Their prices are fair and honest, and even minor mechanical repairs are completed much faster than what I've experienced at most dealerships. In all these years, I only had to bring my car back once, and it turned out the issue was completely unrelated to the original repair. One experience that really stood out happened years ago when my car key broke off in the trunk lock. A mobile locksmith quoted me $250 to remove the broken piece and make a new key. Instead, I took the car to Sergio's. Chava came out with a small tool, removed the broken key in less than five minutes, and had me on my way. He didn't charge me a dime. That kind of honesty, professionalism, and customer service is hard to find these days, which is why I continue to trust Sergio's with my vehicles. read more

Absolute 6 stars if it were available. Sal came on a recommendation so I knew they were good. But when I arrived early on a Monday Morning with an emergency I was informed it was appointment only. My heart dropped. Sal came in just after 8 showed him my issue and he said, "gimme a minute." Not only was there emergency room made, his bill was staggeringly low. I was back on the road in an hour. Let me start of by saying we went over a few diagnostics codes not just one, and the ones that were still coming on were the same ones that came on when I took my 2006 Honda Pilot to you. Second of all the smog technician told told me that he hopes I didn't pay alot to get my pilot fixed because they did not fix it! I would of had more respect for you and your business of you would just take ownership to your work! I'll give you an example as I'm writing this review I am waiting for my 2017 Nissan Maxima's bumper light to get fixed and guess what it's something they had fixed before 2 years ago and they did it for FREE! You know why? Because they take ownership in the work they do and do not rip people off! It's sad to see that alot of Raza just takes advantage of one another! A Great Experience!! Took my Mom's 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis in because of a rubbing/rattling noise. Sal the owner was on point and told me that the right rear axle needed replacing. He told me how long it would be to fix and gave me an estimate of the cost. The work was done quickly and professionally. What great service! I brought my 2011 Toyota Corolla in for an oil change and brake pad change. They said break pad change wasn't necessary and they cleaned them for me and made my brakes like new! They fit me in on a Saturday morning when I know it can get pretty busy. I live in LA and was able to visit with family while they worked on my car. HONEST AND RELIABLE... I went to a mechanic by downtown Oxnard and they wanted to charge me $300 for a " leak" Okay I was like what leak cost $300 So I went to this mechanic by my house (Sergio's auto repair) and guess what the leak was... my gas lid wasn't closed right... Eduardo cleared the code and closed the gas lid and said " it's more common than you think" and bam car was fixed... he didn't charge me but I left him a tip for good customer service and being damn honest. I was getting a tire replaced at another shop but the technician could not remove one lug nut and referred me to Sergio's Auto Repair to have it removed. I arrived at their shop with this request and was instantly assisted by Eddie and Sal. They really put in a lot of effort with trying different adaptors on the nearly unremovable lug nut. Finally, Sal was able to remove it, and I was able to return to the other shop to have the tire replaced. I'm very aplreciative of their professionalism. Sal didn't even want to charge me for the work, but I insisted. Great staff, and will return whenever I need auto work done. read more

I had an random cylinder misfire that was difficult to pinpoint. Another shop had given up troubleshooting it and my neighbor recommended Sergio's for a second opinion. I took it to Sergio's and spoke to Sal. After troubleshooting it, Sal explained the possible scenarios and his approach. I decided to continue with the work and the misfire was found and repaired.
