Since Eagle Pass is a border town there's no shortage of Mexican restaurants. Parrillada de San Miguel was in walking distance to our hotel. It is dimly lit and has a romantic ambiance inside. It wasn't very busy since it was a Tuesday afternoon. I had been fighting a nasty cold all week I decided a margarita was in order. Their cocktail menu was extensive but decided to keep it simple with an ultimate margarita. My boyfriend ordered a drink called The Cactus which was a slushy green colored drink with different fruit flavors. He liked my margarita better and I liked his so it was a win-win for both of us :-) For lunch I had the Enchiladas Potosinas which was red enchiladas filled with fried cheese and topped with Mexican cream, onions and panela cheese. Rice and refried beans also came on the plate. Delicious! My boyfrend ordered the ribeye steak tacos. They come with 4 steak filled soft tacos and a side of charro beans. The steak was very tender and seasoned perfectly. Even though we were full we decided to split a piece of homemade flan with whipped cream on top. Normally I'm not a big fan of flan but this was excellent. It was baked like a pie and was thick but not overly heavy. Total bill came to $48 which isn't that bad for 2 drinks, 2 entrees, and a dessert. read more

I asked a friend who works for DPS and was stationed in the area for suggestions on where to eat in Eagle Pass. I was not disappointed. It's quantity over quality here. Taco stands are better than this place. Best thing to eat on the menu ironically are the burgers, not even the Mexican food. Service is lackluster but that's pretty much the service in the entire area so not expecting much. The manager, however, is always really good with his service. Very nice atmosphere. I love the outdoor patio feel with the comfort of being inside. It felt fancy for eagle pass. I gor mole enchiladas and my husband got the sour cream enchiladas. Everything was delicious. I wasnt a huge fan of the chips and salsa. (The chips were on the thicker, and denser side . ) A lot of people wereninside but it was very fast service. read more

This is the first time I've been in Eagle Pass in 15 yrs and there is a lack of decent restaurants here. I found this place and was very impressed with the food and restaurant. I ordered the Beef fajitas and they were very good. The 2 others I was with ordered a salad and something with shrimp that looked great and the other person had a steak and they said it was great as well. I'm visiting Texas. Went in alone to eat. I was there for almost 2 hours. Idk if it was because I was alone but I watched people get sat after me but served before me. The food descriptions did not Adequately represent the food. My entree was really the only thing I enjoyed and even that was substituted with something diff then I originally ordered. They brought chips and sampler salsas but they were all way too spicy for me and they offered nothing else. My appetizer was described as fried cheese it was very mushy slices of cheese floating in sauce with a pile of beans in the middle. I asked 2 diff people for my check and it still took almost 30mins to get. I personally will not be going back but that doesn't mean someone else would not enjoy it. read more

The ambiance is great, the food is usually spot on but the service can be very sketchy more often than not.

This is one of those places which I would definitely recommend stopping into if you want some very good Mexican food. I would highly recommend the "parriada special", which is a combination of chicken and beef fajitas, beef ribs, sausage and grilled veggies along with the sides...it feeds 5 and is worth the price. The decor is very unique in that it is made to look like the courtyard of a village and even has private rooms with individual numbers on the outer walls and large fountain in the middle. They also seem to have a good selection of alcoholic beverages and an ample cocktail menu. If I have one complaint to make, it is the service. In the three times I have stopped in, the service has been very average with the waitstaff sometimes taking quite a bit of time to stop back by and before it is noted that we are now in the waning stages of the pandemic, this was the case even before the pandemic hit so it just seems to be an ongoing issue. That said, I will be returning the next time I happen to be in this part of Texas. There was no signage so keep it concealed and bon apetit. read more

Excellent homemade salsas! Chili de arbol, tomatillo salsa & the roasted chilies...all 3 are delicious! They say the salsas have a lot to say about the quality of the rest of the food offered. And, in this case Parrilla de San Miguel earns 10 STARS!! I ordered steak with veggies & mashed potatoes. The location is easy to find. The service and the food is excellent. We have celebrated our Anniversary and our Birthdays.

In my opinion the only thing this place has going is the ambiance. It's clean, spacious and nicely decorated. The food was poor quality and small portioned. I ordered chicken tacos, that came with a few pieces of chicken, a tiny small rationed cup of charro beans and 2 strips of grilled oinion. The tortillas tasted terrible and were falling apart. Others at my table ordered tacos as well and had the same. My friend ordered the burger and said it was mediocre. Service was slow, it took about over an hour to get our food. Prices were moderate, but I wouldn't go back because the food wasn't worth it. Very dissappointed. This is a place you'd come to have drinks and that's it. read more

We sat at the bar and Ana was our bartender/server and she was absolutely perfect! Attended to us not too much but never neglected us. The food was as described, not over priced for the ambiance but good price for the quality since there is not much open late around here. A few years back I ate here at San Miguel and had a terrible experience with y service. My group requested we eat San Miguel. The service was good and the inside of the restaurant is nice. I ordered the Parrillada which if I remember correctly was about $55 dollars. It's supposed to include different cuts of meat for a group of 4. I could not eat any of the meat because it was so chewy. The meat was so chewy it's a safety hazar for anyone to eat. In addition, it being select meat it was overpriced.The chicken was ok. My recommendation is do not order any type of meat here, I never write any bad reviews and this place definitely earned it. I am never giving them my business again and would have given them a bad review the last time, but Yelp didn't exist then. read more

This is the "nicest" restaurant in Eagle Pass, for what that's worth. Indoor patio, attractive light fixtures, modern decor - I felt like I was in Dallas. If I was having lunch with clients in Eagle Pass, I'd probably take them here. Sometimes appearance matters. The food however, left a lot to be desired. For one thing, if your name has "parrilla" in the title, then you'd better at least have somebody in the kitchen who is handy with a grill. I ordered their parrillada for a small fortune ($47) and received an enormous amount of food. Grilled chicken, steak, beef ribs, sausage, rice, beans, pico and guacamole, tortillas... I was swimming in leftovers, which is normally a plus, but not today. Somehow however, almost nothing on the plate was good. The chicken was dry, the steak was overly chewy, the rice had a weird taste to it as if they'd used some fancy herb to season it, and the beans were underseasoned and unpleasant. C'mon guys, rice and beans are staples. You have to get those right! I did enjoy the sausage, but it was just a simple kielbasa charred on the grill. And worst of all, THEY GAVE ME STOREBOUGHT TORTILLAS!! Jesus! A $47 meal from a place five miles from the border, and they don't even make their own tortillas? ? This "Parrilla" is a phony. Coming from NYC this place was not bad. Authentic Mexican food. Really nice place. Had a ton of drinks at dinner and ended up at the bar after. The bill was extremely cheap. Eat and drink whatever you want, believe me it won't break the bank at all. The fish tacos were good, although they're not their specialty. Stick to Mexican cuisine as it is pretty authentic.
