Before replacing the rotors and the brake pads he showed the old ones and explained to me why it was causing that squeaky noise. He was honest and charged me a very reasonable price. I didn't think this guy was going to message me back, but when he did it was after 10pm! My wife's car AC went out on the same day as my car's power steering. I saw positive reviews on Yelp!, so I called this guy, and he was busy, so I left a message. I was hoping to see if he could come and work on the cars at our home. When my wife's AC went out it made a metal scraping noise and the belt smoked when driving it, so, of course, we didn't want to move it from place to place until we found a decent repair shop and price. Attached is our text conversation. He doesn't do AC repairs, which he mentioned immediately, since I'd left him a message explaining that was what my wife's car needed. This guy replies that he does not have the shop to do that kind of work. A full SHOP to provide one wrench, some tubing, a board, and some brake fluid? FFS, even I can fit that in my small car. Mike came out and CLEANED my mass air flow sensor instead of changing out the part that I bought in the first place. I kept the part because something in the back of my mind told me I should not get rid of the new part. When he cleaned the old part he insisted that I leave the Old Toyota part there because it works better than the NEW replacement part. Going against my gut instinct I agreed to let him clean the part and install it. He stated that if this part doesn't work, he would come back and install the new part... A month to the day that he cleaned the part my check engine light comes on again. I took it to auto zone and scanned it and again the mass air flow sensor part was culprit again. I called mike because of what he stated last time, this time he pointed out that my air filter was dirty. This was something he did not point out before and he asked me if I remember him doing so and I told him no I never heard that before. (Besides my car was just at jiffy lube 2 week's ago for a top off and they told me it wasn't dirty) So then he proceeds to change the sensor and when its time to pay he quoted me $60 dollars...I say ok $16 dollars and he said no $60 dollars. Then he said what did I quote you before and I said $25 and I gave you a $5 tip because you came right out last time. I wrote the check and I said, I thought this visit would be on the house because it's the same issue. I told him I wante you to change the sensor last time but he insisted he clean it. He became defensive and said, "I was trying to save you money last time and now I feel guilty". Then I said I'll give you something for coming and he then tore up the check and had an attitude and said I don't like it and left. First of all I wouldn't have called him back out if he hadn't promised that he would return. Second, this was an inconvenience for me to have him come back to do a second repair when I had he part and everything he needed to change it in the first place. Third, if you cant remember what you are promising your customers maybe he should text them and give receipts. Fourth, why should I pay twice for the same exact problem that had a "band-aid" applied to it instead of fixing it. I was born at night but not last night. Obviously he wasn't appreciative of my last review and tip I tipped him. read more
