The entrance to the Cielo Farms had white double barnyard doors and a high squared archway bearing the Cielo Farms name which was impressive but common in Southwest Ranches. Drove down the long black top road with beautiful white dual pagoda light fixtures mounted on cast aluminum posts on both sides. There was a kids event going on at the center of the nursery with a bunch of vehicles parked in the vacant grassy field. The plant nursery was strictly on an appointment basis only. This nursery rents out the 5 acre area for venues.

The driver got out, saw the damage, and told us "don't worry, we have insurance. I'll call the owner." He called, made us sign a paper "for receiving the rocks," and left. We called the next day. No answer. Day after that, nothing. My husband went to the store and they said the paper we signed waived them from ANY accident or damage to our property. They refuse to take responsibility. They even took the rock that hit the car -- looks like they tried to remove evidence. Luckily we have cameras and sent all footage to our car insurance, since their driver caused the damage while operating their truck. Unprofessional, dishonest, and shady business practices. It didn't look like intentional, lush landscaping; it looked like everything had simply been left to grow out of control without anyone really taking care of the place. The parking area is also extremely small, and the whole property almost felt like we had walked into someone's backyard or house rather than an actual nursery. On top of that, there was basically no guidance or customer service. No one came over to ask if we needed help, explain where anything was, or help us choose the right plants. It pretty much felt like, "Just go to the back, look around, and pick whatever you want." I actually enjoy visiting nurseries and understand that they're naturally going to have dirt, plants, leaves, etc., but this was completely different. These were the plants for us! We went to Sunshine Bromeliads because they offer a broad choice of plants from which to purchase. They have rows and rows of plants for $10 each - a better price than more commonly known nurseries! (They also have plants for $5 and $25 based on size and type.) The outdoor nursery has a huge area under a tarp for bromeliads that thrive in partial sun and another big area in the open for bromeliads that love full sun. Visitors can get design ideas from the garden area that has a bromeliad-lined koi pond, tree trunks festooned with bromeliad rings, clumping bromeliads used as ground cover, and bromeliads growing on fences, tree limbs, and in shallow rocks! The only thing more stunning than the hot pink, speckled purple, and striped leaves of the plants - or the multi-colored flowers from the bromeliad centers - is the customer service. This family-owned business is obviously a labor of love. We became fast friends with the owner and her family from the first time we visited (we've been back three times). During our visits they identified plants that would thrive in our yard. They always pack each plant for ease of travel. A few weeks ago the owner's daughter even gave me a tomato and pepper from her personal garden. And yesterday the owner gave hubby a birthday gift of a beautiful bromeliad in bloom! They speak English and Spanish and are open from 8 to 4 during the week and 10 to 3 on Saturdays. There are a number of plant nurseries on this stretch of Flamingo road and this one is rooted in the Japanese and Chinese style of gardens also known as Zen gardens which are characterized by their minimalist style and rock-and-gravel plant beds. Zensation Gardens sells handmade concrete fountains and sculptures from Bali, an interesting selection of bonsai trees, and indoor and outdoor plants that include bamboo, palm trees, gardenias, orchids, and colorful bougainvillea. They also sell artificial grass and offer landscaping design and installations, and LED lighting for your garden. Follow them on Facebook for dates for their beginner bonsai class. They have a food truck "Nando's Grill" but they operate after 5 pm I was told by a very friendly worker. I brought my mom here for her birthday stroll cause she loves plants. It didn't disappoint. Across the way is Flamingo gardens. I recommend this place but either bring an umbrella to cover the sun or come like me on a breezy cloudy day.
