AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE. I have health issues which caused a large amount of weight gain in six months. My dress no longer fit, and I teared up in the store. All they did was offer to corset up the back and ask if I was planning on losing weight. So so so rude. They told me I was being irrational and asked me to leave... because I was silently crying. Also, they said we couldn't take pictures of the dresses until they were purchased. Because they were "designer dresses". Which totally is ridiculous, and a lie because all the dresses are up on their website along with a designer name. Girls, may I suggest you go prom dress shopping somewhere else that's more reasonable and not over priced. All those dresses - you can get online or other stores with much better pricing and customer service. And the selection is outdated. Some of those seem like they are from 1980s. I bought my prom dress here in the 90's and thought it'd be fun for my daughter to shop here for hers. Pretty sure the display in the front window hadn't changed since I was there over 30 years ago. An overwhelming smell of urine hits you about four feet in the front door. We powered through that to have the lady greeting people ask my daughter what size she wears. When she responded "small" the lady says, she looks like an 8. (She's a size 2....) Now reading the reviews, I realize that's so they get extra money for altering the dress. The young girls who worked there were sweet but acted like they would be punished if they didn't interact with us. Even if my daughter would've found the perfect dress I don't know that I would've bought it for fear it would've smelled like the store. The place is seriously creepy. I'm still trying to figure out what brings people in to this store beyond the nostalgia of shopping there as a teenage girl. The prices aren't cheaper than anywhere else. In fact, we went to David's bridal and all the dresses my daughter found there were cheaper than similar dresses at this store. Can i leave "0" stars? What a disappointment!!! Brought my daughter and her grandmother from out of town. Ran into a co-worker and her daughter picking up their prom dress purchased. When the co-worker asked about my daughter's dress interest the shop employee smarts off "they are on a budget!" Neither relivent to the converstion....anyone's business....or appropriate for the worker to point out. My daughter is very private and when i explained this to the employee...she said " ill take care of it...i know what im doing". She also directed my daughter to dresses 1 to 2 sizes too big for her....requiring alterations which would have encrued extra charges. WOW. Parrot-fa-nalia will NEVER receive business from me EVER again. I called to discuss their manager being rude and lying, with PROOF that she was lying and was accused of having friends supposedly call up there and harass them for me, which Nancy couldn't give me a name of any of these "friends" that supposedly called or when they supposedly called, and Nancy told me that if having a career as a hairstylist didn't take up enough of my time I should get a part time job because I have "too much time on my hands" if I'm worried about them lying and poor customer service. THREE GENERATIONS of my family have shopped there over the last 43 YEARS and purchased dress after dress and this is how they treat their customers. Wonderful little shop! The service was very helpful and kind. There are a ton of formal dresses and a nice collection of new bridal dresses. We saw many girls trying on beautiful dresses for prom and walking out with big smiles. My daughter found THE DRESS for her wedding including a veil for a reasonable price and absolutely perfect!! Give this place a chance! When walking in you may feel overwhelmed with all of the dresses that are in the tiny little shop...but if you are willing to dig and search through hundreds of dresses, you are sure to find your perfect dress! The ladies in the back are crazy fun, helpful, honest, and know what they are doing. They will pin and give suggestions for alterations with ease. The dresses are separated by size and length, but are very tight in the racks. When leaving they give you a Polaroid picture to take with you! Don't be scared by the outside or inside!! read more

They were extremely rude. When we didn't know what the rules were they immediately said no pictures. They called my mother rude and told her she wasn't allowed to be back in the dressing room area. My mom said we would just leave then they proceeded to say "don't make your eyes all big at me". That was when we walked out. Will never go back. My granddaughter and I went into this store believing it would be a fun, exciting experience for her to get an idea of the type of prom dress she would like to purchase. During the first fitting, the owner/manager asked her why she was even there if she was "just there with her grandma," implying grandparents can't help with purchases and opinions. It was not said in a kind way. We will not be back. It's also a huge, disheveled mess of dresses that you cannot see because everything is so congested and dusty. My sister was an employee here. All went well up until my sister decided she was to voluntarily quit to take care of my mom who has cancer and undergoing chemotherapy. This is our second time/year shopping for prom dresses at Parrot-Fa--Nalia. We have purchased a dress both times. We go during off peak hours (week day right after school) because we know that we will get personalized service from the staff during non-rush hours. That makes a big difference. While the shop is small and dresses are packed in my daughter goes in with a color / style in mind and has not been disappointed. They do a great job keeping to your budget. I would recommend this dress shop to anyone looking for a formal gown or wedding dress. read more

I took three 8th grade girls in to buy dresses for one school dance. Great potential customers, right? Five years of multiple dances each year, per girl! The owner was so unkind & rude that we will NEVER go back. Racks too full of mostly outdated dresses, so full you can't even move one aside to see the next dress. Some dresses missing decorative pieces/sequins etc (probably because they have been on the rack since the mid 80s), some dresses in cloudy old plastic bags- you can't even see the dress! Think you'll get a good price for suffering through mean customer svc & old crowded location- nope- the prices are Full prices- even for dresses that have been squeezed into overcrowded racks for weeks, months or years & dragged around the old store. So we said NO to the mean attitude at the Parrot & drove straight over to Von Mar, Dillards & Windsor= great selection-fresh styles/great Cust. Svc/clean/ excellent lighting/nice prices/ lots of help in dressing room/ ZERO pressure to buy/ respect for the girls & the gowns - none if which is found at the Parrot. Bought over $2 grand in gowns & shoes and we aren't even done shopping for this one dance yet-we are headed back next weekend but we sre NOT headed to the Parrot, for sure! Great place to find a beautiful dress. The staff was very attentive and they know their stuff! This was our first and only stop. They worked very hard to pick a style and cut that looked best. We found everything we needed to make my daughter feel like a princess and they even keep a list of people from her school to make sure nobody shows up in the same dress. read more

First you have to walk past a window that had two parrots in it. The front window was covered in parrot poo. You have to ring a bell to be allowed inside the store, I guess due to the location of the store. When you walk inside the store you are hit with a pet store smell because there was an additional bird right inside the door. The racks are crammed with dressed. Some of the racks were held up with a rope to the wall due to the amount of dresses causing instability of the rack. You have to shuffle your feet along the floor so you don't end up stepping on the plastic bags covering the dresses and trip. We were looking for an inexpensive dress since our daughter would only be wearing it for 3 hours. We were taken to a room called the "garden" and then the assistant left us. Even if she stayed she couldn't of helped us. You had to remain in a single line to get through. We couldn't wait to get out of there. I would never recommend this place to anyone. read more

My friend didn't like most of the dresses and had two more dresses to try on but the woman took the dresses from her dressing room and basically tried to shoo us out and told us we were done. If you happen to buy a wedding dress here...Have it altered SOMEWHERE ELSE!! The sales lady told me when to come back for my alteration then the OWNER Nancy and some fat blond old lady yelled at me over the phone and in the store. VERY rude and I wouldn't recommend them to ANYONE Prom or Wedding...They had my dress for a week and a half and the alterations lady hadn't even started on it! On top of that after telling them countless times, they couldn't get my wedding date right so 3 days before my wedding I had to go get my dress and pay to have it rush altered at Quick Stitch who did an awesome job and saved my day for sure! My daughter and her friend went into this store today looking for homecoming dresses. We've had a bad experience in the past with them but decided to give them another shot. After expressing that they didn't want cutouts or puffy dresses that's all that was brought to them. One of the women then asked my daughter if her mother was unwilling to take her to Kansas City to look for a dress. In the middle of trying on dresses they were told that the store had nothing for them and that they needed to go somewhere else and look for a "church dress". She then erased the girls' names off the whiteboards and essentially told them to leave. How this store and it's rude way of dealing with customers manages to stay in business is a mystery to me. read more

A friend had suggested it and we were not disappointed; the selection of dresses was amazing and the customer services was the best. Both Nancy and Carol helped my daughter with her selection and made the experience fun. They were patient and helped her pick the most flattering dress for her figure.
