This is not just simply a store that sells birds and supplies. Just as taking on a bird requires more than just swiping your credit card, this place is so much more than a store. I've been a customer of Parrots & Company for thirty years. Laurie and her team have been such a consistent support in my caring for my Cockatiel. Their knowledge of bird care is unmatched, even if it means giving you some "tough love" in advising how to properly care for your bird. Now my daughter has joined in with her new English Budgie. Great experience! Recently adopted a baby cockatiel from here. The store folks can't tell you whether the baby is male or female. You must wait for molting for adult coloring to show or ask your vet for DNA testing. No matter what, their hand fed babies are great. You select your baby and they allow you time to sit with her, getting to know her. Once you move forward with purchasing (I prefer to say adopting), they band your baby for identification so no one else selects your bird. You are encouraged to come back and visit, until the baby is ready to go home. You get a full lesson, with care paperwork when you pick up. Fast forward ... our baby has been home only 6 days and already, she's a hoot. Her first day or so, she was quiet. Eating little. If you study birds at all, the move to a new home with new sights and smells is overwhelming. Be patient. By day 3, she was not only eating a lot, she stopped hissing at our dog. She accepted "the large black furry beast." She also learned quickly that stepping onto my hand means playground time out of the cage. More often than not, if a human is sitting nearby, she chooses to climb aboard to investigate or relax. She really wants to be with people. She is getting more vocal. And while she isn't super cuddly yet ... I see us getting there sooner rather than later. Again, it's only day 6! We're learning to trust each other. Patience is key. I highly recommend this bird sanctuary for your new future family member. read more

This is the best bird store I have been to. I have had birds since 1978 so that is saying a lot. I read some of the other reviews that talked about rudeness, that has never been my experience. The staff has been friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The store is very clean and they stock a lot brands of pellets. They have a long wall of toys. They also make their own seed mixes. Everything is very fresh. Most of the birds for sale are out on perches and are friendly. The boarders are kept downstairs in a separate room. I have boarded my birds here a number of times. I know it is a good experience because they are glad to go and glad to come home. I think they like seeing and talking to new birds. The man who care for the boarders is very nice and my birds like him. They care about birds and they want you and your avian friend(s) to be happy. read more

Very happy with my Black Capped Conure! I got him last year as a baby. It was great to visit him while he was being bottle fed. The staff is great and very helpful! The store is a lot of fun as a lot of the birds are hanging out on perches. Great toy and food selection as well! read more

Giving 1 star because none is not an option. I called ahead of time to get the cost of services. Was grossly misquoted pricing information over the phone. Upon getting ready to pay, we were charged almost $40 more then we would have paid elsewhere for the same service. When we informed them we were given different pricing information over the phone they did not care. I informed one of the employees, Laurie Fierst, who was very rude to us that we would be writing this review. She said she didn't care. This store is amazing!! I purchased a baby cockatiel here a couple of weeks ago and was provided with all of the information I needed. They let me visit to the store to come bond with my bird before he was ready to come home and they obviously genuinely care about their animals. It's really unfortunate that I'm only leaving 2 stars because I can honestly say I have tried my hardest to like this place. I started bringing my bird about a year ago for simple wings/nails trimming and food/toys. The whole place is fantastic but the two women who work here (short black/grey hair and blonde with glasses) are both unbelievably rude. The first 3-4 times I gave them the benefit of the doubt that they were "busy" and that's why they were very short and snappy with all of their customers. I went today and I was the only customer in the store. They trimmed my birds wings and nails, then the blonde woman came out and told us to "never bring him back with his cage in this condition." It wasn't immaculately clean, because it's a bird, and birds poop. So then the woman with the black hair rang me up, she didn't speak a single word. She tossed the pen at me, and walked away without thanking me for my business or anything. So for that reason I will never ever give these women my business again. It's truly sad because these women are passionate about the birds, but they have know clue they are destroying their business because they have zero respect for their loyal customers. read more

The elderly woman with blonde hair and glasses behind the desk was so rude. A costumer in front of me was a woman with a small child, the woman bought four items. The customer asked the lady for a bag to which the clerk replied "we don't give out bags unless you really need them" the woman looked at her confused because obviously she needs one that's why she asked her for one and the clerk said "we have bags we just don't give them out unless you really need one and you can just carry your items out" The lady says ok thank you and walks out holding her child's hand and four items of bird seed. When I went to ring up my order the clerk said to me with a very nasty tone" I have people that buy so many products and carry out all their items with no problem and she wants a bag for four items unbelievable, her and her child can carry the items out."I didn't reply back to her I was so shocked a worker would blatantly talk to a costumer about another customer. The clerk should be happy that she has paying costumers and she should accommodate her costumers with a bag for their items. The fact that this woman spent money in this store to be talked about by the worker is sad. On another occasion I was interested in buying a bird and the owner told me he had baby conures when I asked him the noise level on these birds he said they don't make much noise and I almost put a $500 deposit on the bird until I YouTube conure sounds and realized they can be very noisy. He was blatantly lying to me to make a sale. This is the last time I will spend my hard earned money at a store that does not appreciate or respect the costumers. read more

The woman working the floor was very rude to me and not helpful at all. I just came in looking for a nice cage for my three conures, something that I could split in half, and she could not be bothered to help me. She rolled here eyes at me everytime I spoke. Customer service is awful here. Female worker with short hair incredibly rude, did not approach or help a single customer. Allowed customers to chase and save birds that landed on floor. Blonde woman was much nicer, animals are in great condition and most seem very friendly. Prices on birds are also pretty good too, but the lack of enthusiasm and care from the workers is incredibly off-putting. For such a great place with such amazing animals I would hope they get staff that is more personable and enthusiastic about having such a great job. Would not suggest a new bird owner to go here to learn or shop. Experienced bird owners only. read more

I recently purchased a white bellied caique from this store as it had come highly recommended by friends, and the wrong bird was send home with me. There were two babies in the nest, and I picked out and put my name down for one only to discover that when I took it home a month later, it was in fact the other bird in the nest and mine had already been sent off with the other family. I called twice with proof that this was the wrong bird and was told I was wrong by two different people, only to go down and speak personally to the owner to have my problem acknowledged. She was very understanding and compensated me but I feel for an almost two thousand dollar investment there could have been more money refunded than what I was given. The bird is healthy and great, but I was still very upset such a careless mistake was made and the bands were not simply looked at to decipher the birds before they went home. The store assured me this was the first time in 35 years they had made this mistake, and although they did sell me a wonderful and healthy bird I do not think I will be doing business with them any longer. Response to comment on 4/18/16 from Linda Jacobs I would like to share my perspective of the events. My daughter placed a deposit on the bird in December 2015. When the two birds were born I accompanied my daughter down to Parrots and Co to see them. Since she was the first buyer there, she got to pick out her bird. It was clear that one was very outgoing and the other hung out in the back and seemed withdrawn. My daughter chose the more outgoing bird, #262. We visited later and spent a lot of time with #262. She decided to get a DNA test on the bird to determine the sex. The certificate with #262 came back as a male. When it was time to pick up the bird, again I accompanied my daughter. There was only one bird left. And, it indeed did have less spots than the bird she had visited and with which she spent time. We thought that odd and questioned it to be told the black marks fade with age. Sounded reasonable. At the time, NO ONE checked the band. Only one bird left we didn't think to check. Shame on us. When my daughter got the bird home it was very reserved and not at all like the bird she had visited and bonded to. Again, made sense new home, etc. Until, she caught a glimpse of the band and it said #261! Upon calling the store, the response was, well, bands fall off. Maybe so,but on two birds at the same time? That's the only way they could have been switched. My daughter then paid an additional amount of money to get the DNA tested again on bird #261. Guess what, a girl. We went down to the store, showed them all the certificates and the woman was very nice and said that she was sorry but mistakes happen and gave her $30 worth of toys (one broken it turns out). My daughter is fine with the bird. She has turned out to be healthy and a nice companion. Please, just own up to your mistakes. This bird and cage etc. cost $1600. My daughter works hard for her money as we all do. It was admitted to us they made a mistake when we showed them our DNA tests. So be it, why now the change in story? read more

very upset to be giving this place only one star. i really used to love coming here for bird supplies and to hang out with the birds. after going there for awhile, i decided to try boarding my bird while on vacation (instead of paying a family friend who knows almost nothing about parrots)i left him there for 8 days and came home early from my trip and decide to pick him up 1 day early. i'll add that while i was away, i called to check on him and i got pushed off. the man said " well i don't have any notes here for him, so he must be just fine" almost laughing at me for wanting to know how my bird is. when i picked him up he had a bald spot on his head and broken feathers too! also, i had asked for a beak and nail trimming to which they said they wouldn't do, and his wings had been clipped!! i asked what had happened to his head, the two ladies insisted that he must have been rubbing his head from stress while i was away, but the person taking care of them said he didn't see him doing it! and if so, why didn't they give me the update when i called? now i'm home with a traumatized bird who is mysteriously bald on the head:( i regret bringing him there & wish i stayed home. read more

Over an hour drive but totally worth it! The lady who works there was extremely kind and helpful. I brought my dad there and we loved looking at the birds who were all kept in clean healthy conditions and extremely well socialized. I bought some of the in store seed mix and millet for my parrotlet Buddy and he loves it. I will definitely make this store my go to when it comes to my bird supplies. They also had fantastic natural tree perches for your bird to hang out with you on and become a real part of your family. Dad really likes the African grays so I foresee welcoming another family member in the future- we will probably end up coming back to this store for another bird, advice/ training, and food. I was really impressed with this place, the selection, and quality of the birds. They have birds for everyone and every type of personality really, from cockatiels to macaws you are bound to find someone to fit into your family flock! read more

Really a different as so much of their birds are out in the open on various stands so it gives you a chance to interact with them directly -- be careful, we have nearly gotten attached to a number of parrots (the last few years, the baby blue and golds in particular tends to be so sweet -- and then there are those mischevious goffins). Laurie, Todd, and most of the staff there have always been nice to us; there is a lot going on sometimes there and there can a bit of a wait but nothing crazy and we are busy playing the birds. I find P&Co to be very knowledgable and helpful. The birds really seem so well cared for and pretty socialized. I definitely recommend a visit them if you are in the area. read more
