I found the practice via VSP and chose it based on Yelp. One requirement was that they have digital retinal imaging (DRI) because I didn't want a dilation. Jokes on me because he understandably recommended a dilation after doing the DRI. There is a convenient online appointment system. I was able to call and talk to an assistant to confirm that my VSP covered a normal and advanced eye screening. They called me to confirm my appointment 2 days before. On the day of the front staff greeted me and gave me a form to fill out since I was a new patient. They borrowed my glasses to check my prescription in the meantime. The front staff did say things in my vicinity that made me raise an eyebrow, but nothing to worth a demerit. Overall they were friendly. The normal screening involved the pressure test, periphery test, and the prescription test (that barn or christmas tree image). The advanced screening was for the DRI. Waited for maybe 10 minutes, then Dr. Vu and I had a chat. He did the usual optical tests to check my prescription along with a color blindness test. Most notably he did a red-green (duochrome test) which I have never taken before. He also found a minor issue I had and proposed two options explaining that since it was minor, he let me choose lol. After the exam, one of the front staff did lead me to glasses to prompt me about getting glasses, but I pushed back and the conversation ended there. I requested a printed prescription and I was given one. A follow up appointment was made for the dilation where front staff informed me that I would need to bring sunglasses, but if not they would provide those funny looking rollup/disposable sunglasses. Overall a pretty good experience.

I really like Dr. Vu, I think he gives you the attention and detail you deserve. But to be honest, I HATE his front desk staff. Ever since they got bought out, the quality service has plummeted. What used to be a caring, and very detail oriented family practice, turned into a cold and careless business due to the front desk staff. They don't pay attention to cost savings/rebates, they're extremely rude, and they don't go above and beyond with contact order defects like other optometrist offices do. I ordered prescription sunglasses once and I said give me my usual thickness of lenses and they were definitely not the same as my other ones, it was thicker, I compared once I got home. And I spent a LOT of money on them, I've wasted so much money there because their front staff isn't as detail oriented as before they were bought out. I've never worn those sunglasses because they're FAR too heavy. And I remember specifically asking them about that since I have such bad eyesight. I said I've always been told I can't do wire frames because it shows the thickness of lenses and they said no that's not true, you can.... Aaaand look what happened. They were indeed wrong and made me waste money. I tried to endure it for a couple years since I usually only go once a year, but I had had enough, I was so disappointed that I had to switch practices after giving them my business for 15-20 years. My family as well had stopped going to them due to the front desk staff and how awful they were. We all live in different places, and we all made that decision separately from eachother. And that says something. It's quite a shame that it has caused them to lose such business. I wish them luck, but they need a reorganization.

However, my experience on the sales and fitting side mirrored the other negative reviews I found online. I went in on 3/2/26 prepared to invest in a full new setup including Kate Spade frames with progressive transition lenses, but I walked away 400 dollars out of pocket with glasses that are completely unusable. ​My primary need is seeing my computer screen, but when I sit down everything is blurry. Instead of addressing the lens issue, the staff tried to "rig" the frames by adding double nose pads and bending the ear pieces so tightly they dug into my head to force the glasses higher. When I returned after my first pair was finished on 3/16, a different staff member admitted the lenses were made incorrectly, yet they repeatedly mentioned a one-time fee for the correction as if the error was my fault. ​Between the initial fitting and the follow-ups, I spoke directly with four different staff members on the sales and fitting side. I received a second set of lenses on 3/25, but they were just as blurry. Trying to find the "sweet spot" in the prescription caused so much eye strain that I was in tears by 10 AM the next day. When I finally asked for a refund, they refused and even told my insurance company no. I am now out 400 dollars, I still do not have functional glasses, and I was never even given a copy of my prescription. ​I have officially filed a formal complaint with the California State Board of Optometry regarding the refusal to refund for a non-functional medical device. I am also reporting the office for violating the FTC Eyeglass Rule, as I was never provided a copy of my prescription after my exam. While the energy in the office is positive, the policies regarding defective products and the lack of empathy for inaccurate results is unsettling. If your prescription doesn't work out the first time, be prepared for a very difficult and expensive struggle.
