A hidden gem and Eureka treasure, just off the main drag, that's been here since 1941. You go in, and the look hasn't changed much since then. I still remember back in the 70s as a kid, we would buy our candy here, and then sneak it into the movie theater across the street. They have a wide selection, and it is all delicious. Dark chocolate, milk chocolate, soft centers, hard centers, divinity, if you want it there's a good chance that they will have it. The prices are a little bit on the higher end, but this is definitely a case of you get what you pay for. A true old school candy makers shop, seriously every imaginable type of sweet you can get here. This shop is like stepping back into a time warp. Walk up glass display cases loaded with sweet treats galore. This family run business makes a quality product in a multitude of ways. Fresh assortments of chocolates, truffles, fudges, jellies, nuts and crews, creams, crunches, filled and I'm sure I am even forgetting a few. Seriously, had a flashback of the proverbial kid in a candy moment just walking from case to case and the aromas definitely made me think back to a much simpler time. It was row upon row of candy goodness... Mix and match as you like at a flat $5 bucks a pound a the bag, a great way to sample as few or as many as you like. We were able to make an assorted sack of other own favorites from a single piece to as many as we wanted until we both had a really great variety each. A couple of pounds later of our fresh haul and we paid the kind lady and were on our way! They can also make custom boxes in numerous options for an an up charge. We showed up close to closing. The lady proudly stated that they had been open for 80 years. She put all our chocolates in a cheap small little bag and handed them to my husband. I said to her they are for my parents anniversary may we please get a box. She said, in a witchy like tone " once the candy is over the counter I can't box it".... I said ok that's fine, can I buy a box from you and I will sort them when I get home. She said no.. we can't do that! She reminded me of the wicked witch of the west in the wizard of OZ. Went to Patrick's today for the first time. I am happy to report that this place is a complete underrated gem hidden just of the main drag in Eureka. I was impressed by the fact that many of the recipes are original from the 1930's and they still make them the same way today. The diversity and uniqueness of the candies my family and I got to try here was impressive and everything was delicious. The staff were very welcoming and we're happy to provide detailed answers about everything in stock. I brought my daughter, Stormy, by Partrick's, and it was her first time in a candy store. Naturally, she felt the place was magical, since how else would a 6 year old, or many adults, for that matter, describe a store dedicated to candy? She was impressed by the amazing aromas of the chocolates, and we decided on a box for my wife, as well as a sack of chocolate covered peanuts, a couple pieces of the marshmallow candy, and a huge candy heart on a stick, for Stormy. I can't recommend these people. Ordered about fifty bucks of Easter candy, the owner spit about wrapping a bunny in saran wrap, lied about the price of a rocky road egg clearly marked as $3.65, insisting it was $7.98, when I presented my Visa Debit card he demanded an I.D., my account is a joint account with my husband's name and for the first time ever in 38 years my debit card was refused cause the name was Lee and not Mary. I asked the man if he was serious- he wanted me to hoof it to a bank and I wouldn't and he said he couldn't sell it to me so my daughter said she would buy it. He added it to her bill and as she was paying she said its not legal anymore to ask for ID on these cards I think while she was showing him HER DL and he cancelled the sale and and threatened to call the police if she didn't leave. Got to say he doesn't bother to decorate his holiday candy, the candy is just average dark chocolate but not all that in flavor- not bad but not great, very expensive though and there are a kazillion chocolate stores with a smile on their face in the immediate area so bye bye Partricks. The world is full of narcissists but I'll be dzmned if I'm going to pay to be abused by one. read more

If I could give Partrick's six stars I would. I was born and raised in Napa and can remember back 60 years of all the flavors and fantasies in our Partrick's store. When I discovered this Partrick's, while driving through Eureka, you could have heard the slamming on of my brakes. They have all the original recipes on the original parchment and the candy is still just as good as I had remembered. To add to the magic of this place, the employees and owners care as much about customer service as they always had. For special Napans who are hard to buy for at Christmas time, this makes me look like a hero. This is the last of the three locations and I hope it will never go away. THANK YOU! read more

There is a no dogs allowed sign on the store. I have a true registered service dog and it was less than welcome. I stood as far back from the counter as possible as I could see the lack of friendliness. Because I had a very tight lead the dog barked one single bark. The woman working in the back demanded that I leave. I explained the animal was a licensed service dog with a tag and offered to show it. The woman said the bark would scare customers so I must leave. There were NO customers in the shop and a completely empty street outside. While I can only imagine the magnanimous amount of fake service dogs in our area, this one was an actual dog being trained to perform a life saving job. While the smells were amazing you can guarantee I'd rather eat cheap boxed chocolate over supporting a business that is so unfriendly to someone with a service dog. Remember some disabilities are not visible... epilepsy, diabetes, blood disorders. My advice is to not alienate any customers, able bodied or disabled. read more

Amazing candy. I grew up with the mint melt-a-ways (I think they actually call them mint truffles) which I dream of - they are unchanged and perfection. The chocolate toffee is amazing, but really any kind of truffle here is tremendous, too. You can't mail order online, but if you call them in cold times of year they will send you your candy. I went to Patrick's and decided to write a review because the low rating in the only previous review seems totally unwarranted. Patrick's is a great local business. They have a great selection of delicious chocolates, which caused me to go weak in the knees and buy more than I intended. And they make their own salt water taffy, with a taffy machine in the windows like the old days. What I liked most is that the women who work there were very friendly and helpful, and they seemed to genuinely appreciate even a small purchase. If you are in Eureka and want to get great chocolates at a reasonable price, I would definitely choose Patrick's! read more

My daughter-in-law in law received these as a Christmas gift from one of her students. She brought them to share on Christmas Day and everyone enjoyed them tremendously. My family has been going to Partrick's Candy for over 30 years. My grandfather even made a tradition of getting one of their divinity eggs for my grandmother every easter. After my grandfather passed, my mother took over, now I get the egg. In my years of living in California, Oregon, then Virginia, I have found no where else that makes divinity the way they do. It is so creamy and delicious! The owners might have changed in all the years, but the candy is still as great as ever. The best part of this store is that during the cooler times, they ship their candy. So even though I now live in Virginia, I can still get my grandmother her divinity egg shipped to her in Oregon. read more

I will not buy from Partrick's again. I currently live out of state and have had them ship candy to me for gifts in the past. When I am in town, I have bought candy to bring home. Today, I asked my father to go to Partrick's and buy some sugar-free candy as a Christmas gift. He called me shocked at how he had been treated. He said everything was fine until he was ready to pay for the candy. 2 boxes of sugar free chocolates and some butter toffee for himself. The cashier asked if he wanted it bagged and he said yes to the two boxes, but he would take the toffee then. He reached across the short counter next to the cash register to pick up the bag of the toffee and said the female owner started yelling at him that it was a health code violation. He apologized and tried to continue with the transaction with the cashier. The owner kept yelling for a bit longer, then stopped and walked towards the back. As he was handing his card to the cashier, the owner started yelling at my dad again. Her husband came out from the back and told the cashier to cancel the transaction and for my dad to leave. Dad left and called me to let me know I need a new gift idea. He wasn't rude, didn't yell back at her, or cuss at her. I would've told her where she can stuff that candy. read more

I have no idea how the candy tastes, as I didn't actually eat any. I wanted some taffy and noticed a sign above the taffy that indicated it is very salted and can taste too salty to a salt sensitive person so naturally I asked to sample a piece before I bought any. Her response verbatim: "no and I'm out of most of the flavors." Okee dokee. I guess she didn't want to sell any of the taffy so I left. read more

What made me give the two stars was the extreme discomfort I had when the employee picked up and handled the chocolate that we bought with her bare hands. I don't know if she washed her hands before handling them, but the unknown and the discomfort of it made me all the more hesistant and unwilling to eat the chocolate. read more

My review of this business is not good. Almost all holidays I go to Partricks and buy goodies for the employees where my wife works. This nice act turned into a bomb shell. I purchased many pieces of chocolate covered fresh strawberries. Always good. While I was there, me loving licorice decided to also purchase a pound of licorice taffy. My favorite treat. I delivered the treats to the office and headed for home. On the way home I tried the licorice taffy. No taste of licorice what so ever. I returned to Partricks for a return as there was evidently something wrong with the batch and to try for something different. I was told there was nothing wrong with the taffy and that is what they called licorice. They would not take the return and if I wanted something else they would sell it to me. I ask for a return or a different product. The owner remained in the office and yelled to the ladies out front to "give him his $!!$!$$ money back and don't sell him a !??!?!!? thing and tell him to get out and don't come back." At that time with one hand with money and the other hand with his business card, I left. As I got to my truck the owner came charging out the side of the store and demanded his business card back and physically yanked it from my hand, and said "don't !??!?!? come back!" And accused me of yelling at his women. The only yelling was from the owner of Partricks. Rage from an establishment owner that couldn't care less about loosing customers. read more
