We have been back several times since my first review. We got seats this time! Drinks & baked goods were good.

On the day I was dragged into this establishment by a local, we were lucky enough to have received a great experience. The line wasn't too long of a wait, despite it being busy and understaffed. They had a cute location, and I really liked the dark wood throughout. They had a dedicated area for sitting, and some things like board games available for groups to enjoy while sipping their beverage of choice. I got a mocha frappé and enjoyed it. It hit the spot on a sunny Eureka day. To my surprise, I got a freebie, with the barista making more than what would fit in the cup. The excess was poured into an additional cup, and given for free. That was awesome. Speaking of the staff, they were great. Despite being a busy day and not many people working, they pushed through and i saw them handle all types of attitudes and customers with great care. I enjoyed my drink here for sure. read more

This is a remarkably charming place in Eureka - it really seems to be popular with the local people of Eureka. It's in a very beautiful section of downtown Eureka. I came early in the morning and only had a donut and small coffee there and the price was reasonable. They have a seating area in front of their counter and a larger seating area adjacent. Lovely wall art that appears to be from local artist. I really want to give it 5 stars - the only downside was - and I have to be honest - there was a homeless man who came into the cafe and started yelling repeatedly at the clerk and other patrons. This is NOT the fault of the owners but when I'm in side of a restaurant or cafe and eating I think it's reasonable to want to feel safe. This was early in the morning and after this aggressive person left there were steadily more and more customers coming in and I felt safer/better This is a great place and I hope anyone who is visiting Eureka to stop by and enjoy this popular place read more

After strolling around in Old Town for a while, it was time to sit back and enjoy a relaxing cup of coffee. We almost didn't come in here, because looking in the window it didn't seem like there was much seating. But it turns out there's a whole additional room with lots of seats! We had a Cappuccino and a Mochacchino, as well as a couple sweets: Lemon Cheesecake Fudge and a Mixed Berry Scone. They have an amazing number of syrup choices, which I totally missed, especially the wide number of sugar-free syrups. Oh well, next time... Everything hit the spot! The satellite room let us stretch out our feet, kick back and relax - just what we needed. They have some lunch options here as well. We're trace for the summer in our van but we try and keep up with national food days and today is National fudge day! This is the only place we found in Eureka with fudge but they offer so much more as well. Great little spot with plenty of seating and a menu of coffees, teas, sandwiches, wraps, bagels, pastries, and confections. We ordered a cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese and a piece of peanut butter chocolate fudge. The bagel was ok (probably not made in house), it could have been toasted a little more.. but they definitely don't skimp on the cream cheese.. lots of cream cheese. The fudge was amazing it even had a whole mini peanut butter cup in it. Staff were friendly and helpful and delivered good service. Beware the place covered in rat feces and failing two consecutive inspections. Beware a business owner who's absolutely clueless on how to run her own business and fires her pest control company without hiring a new one. Her lapdog of a manager (Jason) tried very hard to defend his mistress on Facebook, swearing blind that they clean "every surface with different types of sanitizers to eliminate all sort of germs." Yes, so true. That's why the inspector found rat poop EVERYWHERE. You don't accumulate that amount of rat waste in a day. This would have never happened on the previous owners' watch. read more

I love having coffee whenever I am eating chocolate and this place offers them both. Old Town Coffee & Chocolates has a variety of fudge and truffles on display that will make you drool. These pair well with their gourmet coffee, espresso drinks, and premium teas. If you like a particular type of syrup flavor in your coffee, they have quite a few to choose from. For food, Old Town has pastries, bagels, soups, and smoothies. There is plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. I found customer service to be so-so. read more

New Owner Amanda S. has turned this generational establishment into a a complete joke. She fired pest control and had the baristas take care of rodent feces, as well as dead carcasses. Feel bad for Some of the employees, not the same. Never going there again until there is new ownership that actually takes cares about their business and employees instead of being a hostile. Sad. Highly highly recommend to go anywhere else. It was my first time here . It's a very nice clean big cafe with lots of sits inside and outside. It's very well decorated and they sell lots of different cute items like jewelers, books , mugs, coffee, etc . I ordered an americano and 3 pieces of chocolates. ( espresso, tiramisu and dark chocolate) The coffee was good . The chocolates all tasted the same . Taste just sweet . No taste of anything else . I grew up here and coming to this place it was always pretty decent & recently I went in after not visiting in some years to come back to rude staff it was actually uncalled for the way she treated me. My dog had cancer and I didn't wanna leave him outside in the freezing cold and they were so rude and kicked us out. After explaining to them he was my service animal even had the papers because the door said "service animals only" Mind you we were in line already for about 15 minutes before they rudely kicked us out. But yet a bum who smelled like piss was sleeping at the table like ok. Make it make sense people. Going to let all my out of town & local friends know to not visit this coffee shop!!! Also mind you if you're a small town you should appreciate the business that walks into your door, you don't who that person is and who they know. You guys just lost a lot respect and that's so sad being my hometown. read more

First could times in - impressions. Good prices - coffee very well priced. Good coffee - not great, but very good. The place is kind of dingy, if artsy. Odd smell. Stuffy. Maybe it's the fact that it's a bit of a shelter vibe. Staff - one was very friendly sweet person. Others, kind of too cool for school. Overall, would go back, but could use a good cleaning, and other than the main gal who seemed really amazing other staff could use a little customer service training. Walked in here with my service animal and was yelled and snarled at. I let one of the service people know my dog was a service animal but was told I wasn't allowed in (even though the front door says yes to service dogs). So I picked her up to wait for my mom right by the front door. I was only waiting for a moment until a woman behind the counter wearing glasses, that was snarling at me proceeded to yell at me across the lobby to get out. It was very rude and a bit of a jarring experience. I proceeded to leave completely, after quietly again voicing that my dog was a service animal. Just posting this so that no one else has to deal with such awful behavior from the service behind the desk. Please do not treat people this way, you have no idea what kind of day they are having. And if you don't allow service animals, maybe don't have it posted on your front door that you do. read more

It didn't take me long to figure out that Eureka has an Old Town full of Victorian flair but with an edge. The edge came in the form of the hippie vibe prevalent in the Lost Coast where more than the coast felt lost. I'm not talking just about the snappish barista who acted like she had a long day. I'm also talking about the packs of homeless people who were scattered about the neighborhood, some of whom could afford a cup of coffee to sit a spell in here. Mix in the tourists and you have quite a hodgepodge of society congregating in what felt as much a vintage meetinghouse as it did a cafe. Stopped in for a cold brew one morning. There was quite a bit of a line to order. It took about 10 minutes to get up to the register. I ordered the cold brew - with room for cream. While I was waiting for the lady at the register to complete my order, I noted that the tip jar is an old film strip projector! I've not seen one of those in some probably 10 years! Interesting re-use of long-dead tech! The cold brew was strong and delicious! Service was good and friendly. Parking can be a bit of a challenge here. What an adorable little coffee house! Old Town Coffee definitely has that small town feel and I loved it to pieces! Located in Old Town Square, this cute little shop serves up coffee, tea, breakfast, and some absolutely delicious chocolates and baked goods! It was Labor Day and not many places were open around Old Town Square. My original pick was closed and I ended up walking down the street to see what I could find that was open. Lo and behold, Old Town Coffee & Chocolates! It was very busy that day, but I kind of expected it to be since most of the other businesses in the area were closed. I was impressed with the variety of options on their menu! They have an extensive list of different types of coffee and other drinks as well. I saw that they had a cinnamon brown sugar chai latte special and I ordered it pronto. Chai is my weakness and usually my go-to since I'm not a coffee drinker. If you like chocolate, you will LOVE this place! They've got all types of delicious chocolates for sale. Truffles, fresh fudge, chocolate covered pretzel, biscottis... so many options! In addition to their lovable chocolate selection, they also have a ton of pastries and they also serve a few traditional breakfast items. I ended up with a glazed morning bun for breakfast and some chocolate truffles and a lemon biscotti to snack on during my drive home back to the Bay Area. Everything tasted scrumptious! The cinnamon brown sugar chai had such a unique taste, but the flavors complimented each other extremely. The lemon biscotti was a hit and those chocolate truffles just melted in my mouth! But, the star of the was that glazed morning bun! Nom nom nooom! I love morning buns, and this might have been the first time that I've ever had one glazed. What a creation that was! It was warm, sticky, and just so damn good! You'll definitely need some napkins for that bad boy, but it'll be scrumptious nonetheless. Although this coffee shop is located in the heart of downtown Eureka, it didn't seem touristy at all. As a matter of fact, most of the people I spotted seemed to be locals. This coffee house has two adjoining rooms that connect through a small passageway, and they also have a few tables out front for lounging. Their main lobby is really small and narrow and felt a bit cramped with all of the people waiting in line. The adjoining room is a little more spacious, but I had to wait for a table since they were quite busy. They offer free WiFi and they'll hand you a small ticket with all of their WiFi info if you ask for it. WiFi is limited to only 1.5 hours though. I guess people really take advantage of this place and hang out longer than they need to. But, I can definitely understand why since it's so comfortable and cute in there. They aren't open after 5pm?? And closed on Sundays? This place used to be a meeting place for friends and now I'm never able to go because I work until 5pm. There's no more music or open mic nights. The person who bought this business is grumpy and not nice at all and she's running a business that's been the heart of Old Town for over 20 years, into the ground. The coffee doesn't taste good, and she's got all kinds of magnets, coloring books, candles, and other weird shit that doesn't belong a coffee shop in the middle of the floor, blocking a bunch of space. It's clear she has no idea how to run a coffee shop or keep people working behind the counter to keep the business open longer hours. This place is just awful now. zero stars. read more

This is such a cute spot located in a picturesque part of Old Town Eureka. The establishment is clean and roomy with plenty of good natural lighting and lamp fixtures. There's a wide variety of coffee selections and they have milk substitutes for folks who don't consume dairy. There's also bakery items, meal items and, of course, chocolate. We came here to have a coffee and get some work done. The WiFi password system they have going on here is rather interesting, but it works (you get your own code at the register). I think this is a nice place to stop and get work done, but while were here a few transient folks came in and made a scene. After they left, the staff ensured that we were still doing ok, which we were. I guess that's just what comes with being in the heart of the city. I would definitely come here again since that incident has nothing to do with the quality of the establishment or the taste of the coffee (it's great!). The basic latte with whole milk was fantastic. Pastries and donuts are okay, but it's the coffee and workspace that make this place a revisit for me. We were on a road trip and felt very at home here, with the spacious working area, wifi, and availability of electrical outlets to charge our phones and laptops - which has been harder to find during covid. read more

Visiting family in Eureka and looking for the right spot for coffee, lunch and a place to sit for a while. This is not the place. The environment is 5 stars, comfortable and warm, the coffee was good and the food was tasty. The customer service was pretty terrible. Order was wrong and the people behind the counter hardly said a word. The woman calling names sounded angry and didn't bother to make eye contact or say hello. Maybe this is just the town vibe. Sort of annoyed and ambivalent. Not sure if it was a bad day, but I sure miss the kind of place where people lead with kindness and help you to feel welcome.
