This is probably Eureka's main ice cream spot, as I had to wait a solid 10min in line next to the strong ocean breeze around 7:30PM on a Saturday night. Parking is plentiful and the location makes it convenient to grab from downtown. My favorite part of the menu was that fact that you can order a flight of ice cream, which are priced at $6 for 4 scoops or $11.50 for 8 scoops. It's a GREAT way to have customers try different flavors without overwhelming the sample spoons (PS I don't think this place does samples). I ordered a 4 flight of Mango Habanero, Chocolate Hazelnut, Dream Sweet Cream, and Cherry. The Mango Habanero had a good occasional kick of habaneros in an otherwise sweet ice cream. The chocolate hazelnut was dark but not very nutty - I think it's a safe pick. The sweet cream tasted like a mcdonald's ice cream cone (but perhaps healthier), and the cherry flavor can be avoided as it didn't taste like anything close to cherry. The line was a little slower than expected, but the pricing is very fair, especially for the flights. Service was friendly, and I think their menu changes some flavors ever so often. read more

They had this Turkish delight flavor that I was curious about but decided against it since I wasn't sure I would like it. Honestly I should have just went for it because the pistachio Gelato I did get wasn't great. Bland in flavor with an icy texture. Not enjoyable at all. Also, the fact that the person behind the counter just grabbed the inside of the waffle cone with bare hands was a bit of putting to me. The service isn't the best. They have some not-standard flavors (blackberry habanero, brown sugar molasses, root beer, etc.) that I'm super interested in, but I never get them because I don't want to commit to a whole cone of something that I'm not sure I'm going to like. I grabbed an ice cream cone here before I went for a walk on the Eureka Boardwalk. Living the Dream Ice Cream has over 20 flavors to choose from. They have classic flavors and newer creations that are made fresh daily. In addition to cones and cups, they also make milkshakes and Sammiches (ice cream in between two cookies). This place gets pretty busy. I waited a good 15 minutes to get my cone. There is very little seating inside, so plan on going for a walk with your ice cream. Was excited to stop here after eating at the Bayfront Restaurant. I found it a little odd that classic oreo ice cream wasn't offered, so I ordered a fudge vanilla and java chip scoop. My choices Maple Nut and Cookies Galore (Their version of Cookies and Cream) Both were very good and each stood on its own in flavor, texture and consistency. While I enjoyed the creamy homemade ice cream with a generous amount chunks of chocolate chips I didn't like that they didn't have the cake cones available as an option. I prefer wafer cones because they are light, flaky and subtly sweet to offset the sweetness of the ice cream. I think they only had waffle cones which was (to me) very sweet. I like that they placed our ice creams in an ice cream cone holder while I fumble in my purse for my wallet to pay. The ice cream were a little on the pricey side like San Francisco prices. We decided to grab an ice cream cone while strolling by the bay. Living the Dream had a line but we decided to wait. They have a number of unique flavors and some favorites. I chose Sweet cream on a kids size scoop. The hubs chose a double scoop of chocolate hazelnut gelato and strawberry. It was fun and we enjoyed the ice cream. Not sure it was worth all the wait. The line is constant at this tiny place. Probably because there isn't any competition close by. One thing that was a small negative for me was they don't allow you to sample anything. Sometimes it's hard to make a choice without a taste. Would I go back again? Maybe if they improve their processes. Just for an ice cream, probably not. read more

It's located just off the Boardwalk but not missable. They had a sign outside with their flavors. The ordering area isn't huge so I appreciated the sign vs trying to peer around others to see what they had. I got the strawberry lemonade sorbet and my SO had the honey graham, He got his in a cup and I got mine in a cone. I think I was expecting a regular cake or sugar cone but they only had waffle cones. It was nice. Mine was super refreshing and yummy. My hubby liked his honey graham too. He's usually very basic, getting vanilla but he said the ice cream actually tasted like honey graham crackers.
