This is probably Eureka's main ice cream spot, as I had to wait a solid 10min in line next to the strong ocean breeze around 7:30PM on a Saturday night. Parking is plentiful and the location makes it convenient to grab from downtown. My favorite part of the menu was that fact that you can order a flight of ice cream, which are priced at $6 for 4 scoops or $11.50 for 8 scoops. It's a GREAT way to have customers try different flavors without overwhelming the sample spoons (PS I don't think this place does samples). I ordered a 4 flight of Mango Habanero, Chocolate Hazelnut, Dream Sweet Cream, and Cherry. The Mango Habanero had a good occasional kick of habaneros in an otherwise sweet ice cream. The chocolate hazelnut was dark but not very nutty - I think it's a safe pick. The sweet cream tasted like a mcdonald's ice cream cone (but perhaps healthier), and the cherry flavor can be avoided as it didn't taste like anything close to cherry. The line was a little slower than expected, but the pricing is very fair, especially for the flights. Service was friendly, and I think their menu changes some flavors ever so often. read more

I have never been to an ice cream place that has a flight of ice cream, and can I say it is just the greatest idea! They have a half flight (4 flavors) or a full flight (8 flavors) and each one is a 1-oz. We got a full flight and tried stuff we probably never would have like the mango habanero. It was delicious, a touch of heat that made you want more. Churro tasted like a churro with vanilla ice cream on top and Root beer tasted just like a root beer float! My girlfriend and I stopped here after dinner to get some ice cream. It wasn't too inviting upon walking in the establishment and the employees were less than friendly. They have a small selection of pretty unique flavors but they do not allow for samples. Everyone wanted a sample because there's no way to know what's good until after you buy it which is a shame especially because it is pretty expensive. We took the leap and got a couple of different flavors but they really didn't have much flavor. Although, the honey lavender was pretty good and it did taste like what they claim. Very strange place. Walking in didn't feel too inviting and the employees didn't come off as too friendly. They have a small selection of unique flavors yet they do not allow for samples. We thought that it might not be too big of a deal but various people walking in behind us also were asking for a sample. There is no way to tell what you like in this place without buying it first and it isn't exactly cheap. While they have many flavors, they aren't very rich and taste more like vanilla than what the flavor states. The honey lavender was not bad though. A cone costs a dollar extra! I've never seen an ice cream shop charge for an ice cream cone. Also, split scoops are an extra 50 cents. - no samples. They have some not-standard flavors (blackberry habanero, brown sugar molasses, root beer, etc.) that I'm super interested in, but I never get them because I don't want to commit to a whole cone of something that I'm not sure I'm going to like. I get not offering samples during Arts Alive when they're slammed, but other times? Really: that price for ice cream and it should come with a cone and a sample or two. read more

I grabbed an ice cream cone here before I went for a walk on the Eureka Boardwalk. Living the Dream Ice Cream has over 20 flavors to choose from. They have classic flavors and newer creations that are made fresh daily. In addition to cones and cups, they also make milkshakes and Sammiches (ice cream in between two cookies). This place gets pretty busy. I waited a good 15 minutes to get my cone. There is very little seating inside, so plan on going for a walk with your ice cream. Was excited to stop here after eating at the Bayfront Restaurant. I found it a little odd that classic oreo ice cream wasn't offered, so I ordered a fudge vanilla and java chip scoop.
