Because it had been installed by the technician they refused to take it back. But, they offered me a goodwill gesture of $15 after I had to spend $275 on modifications. Horrible experience with Parts Avatar. For weeks they told me that my part had shipped via Purolator and that it wasn't their problem but the couriers even though the tracking number that Parts Avatar gave me showed that only a shipping label had only been created. There is only an AI generated 'customer service' and it essentially spits out the same information each & every time you request information...they'll promise a resolution within 24 hours and it NEVER comes! Very disappointing experience with PartsAvatar.ca. I paid extra for faster shipping, but the order was delayed and the entire process became frustrating. After receiving the shipping confirmation email, the tracking number initially showed "No tracking data found." Later, I received a delivery notification with a delivery window between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, but the package still had not arrived even by 10:00 PM. I contacted customer support multiple times. The most frustrating part was that my support ticket was marked as "resolved" before the package was delivered and before my concerns were addressed. Unacceptable Order Handling and Customer Service I am writing regarding the completely unacceptable way my recent order was handled. Your website clearly indicated that the alternator I ordered was "1 left in stock." Based on that information, I placed the order immediately, selected store pickup for March 4-5, and my credit card was charged right away. After placing the order, instead of receiving the pickup confirmation, I kept receiving irrelevant promotional emails about things like maple syrup events and other marketing messages. Meanwhile, the only information I actually needed -- whether the part was ready for pickup -- was never provided. On March 4, I contacted your team through chat and was told the order just needed "a bit more time to process." On March 5, after contacting you again, I was finally informed that the part is actually out of stock and that I would need to wait at least another 7 days for restocking. This is extremely unprofessional. You had no problem charging my credit card immediately, yet you somehow failed to notify me that the part you claimed was available was not actually in stock. Instead, I had to chase your support team twice just to discover that the product I paid for does not exist in your inventory. If you had time to send marketing emails, you certainly had time to notify customers about a stock problem. The lack of communication and the inaccurate inventory information show a very poor level of customer service. Because of this situation, I have cancelled the order and requested a full refund. I expect this refund to be processed immediately. This experience has been extremely disappointing and reflects very poorly on how you handle online orders and customer communication. Worst customer service I have ever experienced hands down. If you get lucky and they send you the correct part, great (I have an exhaust manifold from several years ago that is still going strong). But if you get an incorrect part, which I now realize to be pretty common after reading reviews....gooooooooood luck getting your money back. For context, they sent me a handful of replacement parts for a torque wrench instead of a complete torque wrench, admitted to their mistake, but rather than sending me the correct part or refunding my money, I had to ship the chunks of metal back, wait for them to inspect it, and then still only got about 60% of my money back. Now, 6 weeks later, they are saying that they have searched their warehouse and cannot find the "Genius torque wrench" and therefore cannot issue a complete refund....but let's recap....THEY NEVER SENT ME ONE. 6 weeks later and we have come full circle. I just can't even fathom how a company can function with such poor accounting and even worse customer service. At this point I think it's possible they are being intentionally difficult. Yes they have good prices but there's always a catch! 2 years ago I ordered a EGR valve from them and 2 months later it failed so I ordered another one that I paid for and they eventually reimbursed me. Here we are 2 years later it failed again but when I reached out to Parts Avatar for warranty they tell me their policy is 12 months only and I need to deal with the manufacturer. Soi contacted the manufacturer/ Dorman that tells me they don't deal with the public even though it's still covered by their warranty and that I have to deal with the seller. Review: Poor Quality Control and Customer Service I purchased brake pads and rotors from PartsAvatar. While the pads worked fine, the rotors were completely out of spec--so thick on one side that the caliper and pads wouldn't even fit without forcing the rotor to the thin portion. I had to sand down my brand-new pads just to get them on, which should never happen with new parts. When I contacted PartsAvatar, they asked for a video of the issue. I explained the parts had already been removed (as they were unusable) and I wasn't in a position to reinstall defective parts just to make a video for them. Their response? "We can't take parts back once installed." How exactly is a customer supposed to know the rotor is unusable without attempting installation? It's clear PartsAvatar prioritizes taking your money over standing by the quality of the parts they sell. This entire experience was a waste of time and money, and the lack of reasonable customer service makes it worse. I ordered 2 front struts and 2 rear struts from Parts Avatar. They sent sent two front struts with different heights and Two opened/damaged boxes of rear struts. I sent them the screenshots and explain the issues. They keep sent me the emails 8 emails about the issues have been escalated to support. I was waiting for 6 days and I have no solutions yet. I requested a phone call to discuss the issue. They said "Unfortunately, our phone lines are not active due to technical issues. We will soon resume our calling services." I look at the website, there is no contact phone number listed in website. It is just so simple to send me NEW struts and the problem will be resolved. They forward you to some third party company out of California which bills your credit card and tries to sign you up to an monthly service. I'm probably going to have to contact my credit card service and fight this now. Absolute nightmare. I have no idea why they would use this service and put customers through this.
