Yelp unfortunately doesn't have a zero star rating so I am writing it instead: ZERO RATING. Staff is so disengaged and totally inept. Not sure if they get any training in customer service or product knowledge. The employee that helped (or didn't) was very young, rude, dismissive, disengaged and clueless. Shame on this store. If I could give it zero stats I would . I will be reporting this store to corporate (it's a franchise as I found out) and the better Business bureau . My husband picked up balloons for my daughters birthday one evening. Upon opening the balloon bag we noticed one balloon was a tad droopy and discovered a small leak in the balloon . The balloon was not damaged on the bag on way home . We would have called store or gone back that evening except the store had closed. My mother in law went to our local grocery store for a replacement balloon so my daughter would have a larger number five when she woke up . The day after I attempted to return the balloon to the store as it leaked by morning and waited 20-30 minutes for a manager to speak to me . I was rudely denied a refund and was accused of damaging the balloon myself . The manager tried to mansplain me and told me to calm down . It's certainly not cheap but I also typically go for the nicer-ish stuff because why get poor quality stuff that will break before the end of an event? I've had several interactions with this Party City location recently. I needed some rather unusual things for a production. And then my situation changed, and I had to return the items. In both situations, the customer service was excellent. They were very friendly and did everything they could to help me out. At the end, I needed change for the Coke machine, and the cashier even tried to find me the best quality bills to put in the machine. I tried to return an item I purchase at the Party City in Cedar Park on the same day and this Party City on Research Blvd will not accept the return. They said it is "outside of their jurisdiction" (5 miles north!?) and they have different pricing scale, therefore they will NOT accept any returns or exchanges unless it was purchased at this exact location. In the year 2024 that is just bad business and bad customer service. It pains me to say this, but I would much rather give my money to Amazon and I will be in the future. Went here to look for St Pattys stuff and saw these shamrock rings advertised for $1.49 but when the cashier rang me up they were $2.99. I pointed it out to the cashier and she still charged me the $2.99 price instead of honoring the clearly marked price they're ere being sold as. (UPDATE) Party City reached out to me recently saying that with their move, in the same center, that some of the parking and traffic problems of the store have been eliminated. Also they have completed a renovation. So, back I will go as I really have fun in this store. Excellent help by folks in the aisles. Great place to take funny pictures and play with the items. Prices are OK on most occasions and I do had a tendency to drop by when in the area. I must say it is a bit of chaos at checkout, especially when there is a special occasion. Most of the front of the house staff are pretty laid back if the store has only been open for a couple of hours. However, dealing with customers who are irate at return policies and balloons for several hours does take its toll. I just recently went and had no problems but there was a lull. This rating is for the whole year which had its ups and downs. I, of course, will return. I do recommend 2 things. #1: Don't park in front of the store as it can be difficult to back out. #2: Try to hit it just as it opens. You will have a much more enjoyable experience. To me, this has the potential for 1 or 2 more stars if they can just get the return policies streamlined so you don't have to listen to customers arguing with employees or waiting in long lines. read more

I made a purchase at the South Park meadows location but was in the Brodie area so decided to return items here. Mind you, my items that I am returning are all unused and unopened. The manager (middle aged man) informed me that all returns are final purchase. I pulled out my receipt and nowhere did it say this. I only write a review when there is a complete lack of hospitality from higher ups. I have complained twice to this franchise location and complained twice to corporate. I have been given the run around from corporate telling me "oh that's a franchise store, you will need to contact them". I was given 3 day old balloons for my daughters birthday party due to a corporate mistake and a refusal to remake them. But tonight when they called and woke me up to tell me they made an error and forgot to charge me for something and it couldn't wait until morning that was the last straw. This was our first experience at Party City. Our salon had a celebration brunch scheduled within a week and I wanted some light decorations to match our brunch space at Mattie's / Green Pastures. We were celebrating one of our staff's baby shower and another staff member's 9th year of employment with us! First, I called Party City and spoke to Bianca who was extremely helpful on the phone. Upon arrival, the staff was quick to familiarize us to everything they had to offer. Bianca, in particular, helped me choose my balloon selection and aesthetic to recognize both staff members. Since our brunch was at 11am Sunday, Bianca suggested we pick the balloons up the evening before on Saturday night so we weren't too rushed Sunday. When we arrived Saturday night, Bianca was busy w/ other clients but took the time to assure us the balloon bouquets came out just as we discussed. I didn't want anything over the top...just a splash of color to match our venue/room and a little fun for the two staff members. Make the trip to the Southpark Meadows location. This location is a franchise that has a separate return policy. Went into the line the first time, I was checked out by an associate. He asked for assistance from the managers and a women shouted out from two registers down that they don't accept electronic returns and they are final sale. The associate repeated the same thing and apologized and I said exactly "Okay" in a neutral tone and walked away so that I don't hold up the rest of the line. I doubled checked my order and the websites return policy to see anything about final sales and went back in line for clarification. The managers looked at us and deliberately ignored us. They were at a register helping all previous customers with the register light on but as soon as we were next, they looked at us and intentionally avoided speaking with us until we asked if they were open. They asked if we were buying something and we said no, it's about a return. We got the clarification we needed but the inconvenience and needless rudeness is not worth the hassle. Don't think franchises are even allowed to modify the policy like that. read more

There is a reason this place has 2 stars, which is a gift if you ask me. They charge several dollars more for products in the store than online. They refuse to honor the online prices. I needed to return some items, followed the return prompts on the website and it directed me this store for in person returns. I get there and of course they won't accept the return. Apparently this is not a "corporate" location so they don't honor or adhere to Party City "corporate" stores. So I was then directed to another store. They only blow balloons up, they won't arrange them anymore. Why bother going? Far better balloons online and you can buy or rent your tank. So you charge more than other Party City stores and the website, you don't accept returns, and no longer do anything with balloons aside from blowing them up. Go to another reputable party store that has a clue or stick to online. This place is a joke. read more

I am so frustrated with the Sunset Valley Party City. I took in custom balloons on Tuesday for an 11:00 pick up today, Saturday. I explained that I wanted them in three groups with specific ones in each bundle. I paid for the higher quality helium in the latex balloons. * When I went to get them at 12:30 they were not only not ready, they couldn't even find the order for awhile. *We had to make a second trip to get them so we were late getting set up at the party. * We finally got the balloons to the party and one was already delayed in the bag and one had burst in the bag from apparent over inflation. *Then they didn't even bundle the balloons at all like I requested. We needed a darth vader mask for my grandsons preschool parade and the first place that we thought of was party city. We called and they checked to see if the they had the mask and of course they did. They told me what aisle it was on and what age child it was suggested for. This Party City is "Ok". They generally have the basics. However it seems to operate under a different set of rules than other Party City's. The prices and deals are not like the website. I was told that this store does not participate with many offerings or deals that other stores do. Also it did not allow me to order online like at other stores. I cannot speak highly enough of this store! I Will travel out of my way just to come to this location. First time I walked in I was greeted by Mark the manager. He was more than helpful and knowledgeable about where everything was. I did not have to scatter around looking for certain things, the place was very well-kept! I've been going to Party City's all around Texas ever since I was about 18 (now I am in my 30s) and this by far is the location to go to. Their management is top notch! Ordered items online for my sons 2nd birthday. Party was cancelled due to a Hurricane Harvey. I checked the return TO STORE policy BEFORE ordering so I knew I could take it back to my local shop. I went there today and was told I couldn't return online items. I explained the policy states I can and that I called the 800 number yesterday to confirm that I could, but Marron the manager told me those people "LIED" to me and they are separate from the online store. He told me to call the online 800 #, CLOSED on Saturdays, so then he told me to call the Austin Corporate store- they are open on Saturdays but TODAY they are ALL out of the office. I return to my car PISSED and need to get my 2 yo a snack, as he eats on the tailgate I go to the website and it CLEARLY states online orders can be returned in store even ONLINE ONLY items. I march my happy a$$ back in to the store and demand to talk with Marron the Executive Manager and the GM who I found out was also in the store. I showed them my phone where the policy was VERY clear, they then tried to argue I was past my return deadline of 30 days, I then had to show them on their website that it is 30 days from DELIVERY not order date So I was NOT past my deadline. I also had to show them the email I received yesterday stating I had contacted the online store and got my RMA #. Nearly an HOUR of my time wasted schooling TWO managers on their OWN POLICY? NOT OK. HORRIBLE IN FACT. Yeah no one likes returns I get it, but I hated having to cancel my sons party TOO- the least you could do is HONOR your policy and uphold the quality of your customer service. Return policy with receipt for purchase made in store with credit card supposedly requires the same credit card present - credit to the original purchase method is apparently "not allowed" even though there is zero risk associated with this, and they "don't offer store credit" EDIT - reply to 9/27/17 business owner comment: the systems of many other stores in many other industries, both large and small, are set up to allow for a credit to the original credit card without requiring it to be present. Storing credit card information has no relevance on this. If the contract with national credit processors was an issue, it's been an issue for a while since I am not the first to comment regarding nonsensical return policies. Given that, it is more likely that this is a policy created to slightly inconvenience customers in order to slightly decrease frequency of returns. EDIT2 - reply to 9/27/17 business owner comment: The claim that you are working on it (improving the return policy regarding credit cards) seems false given the large number of negative reviews on this page noting a difficult return policy going several years back. No other options were offered at the store despite my willingness to accept/suggest other options besides a credit to the original card. read more
