I get sucked into this place once in a very great while, but no more. They wouldn't accept my return 45 days after I bought it. I get the return policy ~ really I do (30 days w/receipt). What makes me angry is that what I am returning is not seasonal, is on the shelf all year around, and it's not like I had it sitting in my closet for 6 months. I'm not going back - regardless of how badly I need special balloons, a cheap plastic trophy, coordinating plates and napkins, fake blood, or baby shower crap. Screw you Party City! What a depressing, sad, awful, depressing place. I went there last night to get some decor for my 5 yr. old's birthday cupcakes. When I walked in, I was in fairly good spirits. When I left, I was ready to open a vein. Why so awful, you ask? Several reasons: 1. The staff. Unfriendly. Wouldn't make eye contact. They struck me as utterly miserable, brain-eating zombies. 2. The overly-loud radio station playing horrible music and LOUD, horribly unnerving commercials. Here's a FREE Retail 101 tip, people: Play unobtrusive, mellow-ish music (sans commercials) in order to entice people to linger and shop rather than run for the doors with their hands over their ears. It's called satellite radio. Look into it. 3. General disorganization and untidy attempt at retailing. Really, zombies? You can't maybe walk around and straighten stuff up, restock merchandise, pick up trash, and you know, do your jobs? Oh yes, I forgot: you HATE your jobs and crave brains. Sad thing is, I'll probably be back because it's the closest party supply place to my house. But I'll double up on my antidepressants prior to my next visit and bring something to decapitate the zombies should they start lusting after my big, juicy brain. read more

Party City is one of the only stores that requires a receipt for returns. No receipt means no return with no exception. Every other store you just need the card you used for the purchase. So I will no longer shop here because of this. I stopped shopping at Babies R Us for the same reason years ago. read more

Not pet friendly!!! I mean, I could understand if my dog was not well behaved, but she is a certified therapy dog, but when we're not volunteering, she never has her service vest on. Owners should really rethink there policy. They missed out on nearly a $1000 order for party supplies. read more

Went here for Halloween costumes. Seriously worst environment ever! The lady running the costume area was nasty. She kept telling my kids to stop touching things. Really?! Then when we left I had to show them the inside of my purse--is that even legal?? I would only go back if I had a gun to my head. read more

Return policies designed to screw you over. I came in with a morphsuit mask and they said you cant return anything morphsuit related but there's no imformation disseminated about that in the first place. Party City has an interesting inventory of party gadgets found not many other places. They must think that means no attention to customer service is necessary. The young girls that answer the phone or run around the store have had NO training about customer service. If you happen to find that one manager type that knows where something really is or will help you consider yourself extremely fortunate. Otherwise your on your own. Pass on this store if you can find it anywhere else. Don't bother to call first... they'll put you on hold ad inifinitim. read more

Usually party city is my go to place, my one stop shop...but this location is significantly smaller than other locations I've been to. They were entirely out of paper bags I needed in a particular color. I find it hard to see how an entire section can be sold out? They must not do inventory well. They also showed online an item was available in store so when I scoured the store looking for it, I finally asked employee and he said well the system says we have them but I looked everywhere and couldn't find them.. Sorry. Disappointing. Also, the entire back isle of the store was full of boxes which made it difficult to browse for the items I needed. Needless to say, I will be venturing out to another location. read more

I've always found what I was looking for and the organization and customer service has always been good. This year my daughter wanted to be a cheerleader. Unfortunately they didn't have a NONzombie cheerleader. Apparently it's hard to find. This is the 3rd store in which didn't carry original costumes as such. That was my only complaint. I never imagined it to be this difficult to find this costume. But they had great other selections to choose from! read more

I had a sci-fi themed party event to go to this past weekend, and was in desperate need of something to wear. Luckily, Party City had a great Darth Vader shirt which fit great! I was in and out in about 5 minutes, which is awesome for a store like this around Halloween. read more

Had some balloons blown up here for sons birthday. Upon walking outside, apparently one of the bigger Mylar ones had not been tied tight enough, and flew away. When I went in to tell the woman about it, I was told I should have held on to it more tightly. I went on to explain that I still had the string, and it was her that didn't tie the ballon tight enough when she blew it up. She rolled her eyes at me. Furthermore, once I got home, I noticed that the large jake and the neverland pirates ballon I got was already starting to deflate. That's just ridiculous. Hello Gerry Rittenberg, I'm writing to complain about my recent experience in Party City Store #363. I went in your store for all of ten minutes after witnessing the sheer chaos it was in; which is understandable as it is the night before Halloween. So I headed back for the front door as I'm searching for a new store to go to as yours was entirely too chaotic for my taste. I watched as the groups in front of me walked out talking about how they waited hours in line for the littlest of items, silently thinking to myself it was smart of me to just vacate the premises. As I made my way through the door this woman proceeds to put her hand out in front of me and exclaim that she needs to do a bag check. This completely floors me as I watched large groups of people make their way out of the door without being stopped. Being a woman of color and the people ahead of me were clearly Caucasian I immediately felt like this was an act of discrimination. Seeing the group of people that just walked out ahead me unstopped holding several items from your store and a woman with a bag on neatly draped from her shoulder. I asked your employee why she did not stop that group of particular people? She said "I did not see her bag". Since the woman was within one foot of the front door, I looked at your employee and refused to show her my bag as she did not ask the woman 5 feet in front of me. She asked several more times and I continually said if your are not going to ask everyone I will not be discriminated against; I'm walking out with the same three items you saw me enter with. The employee then said "you're not going to show me your bag... bye." After walking back to my vehicle I realized I forgot to ask her for her name and store number to file a former complaint. So I went back and asked her for her name and store number she refused and said "I do not have to give your that information.": I then told your employee my entire work experience has been in customer service, if someone ask you for that information , you are in fact required to give that to them. She continued to refuse; I looked to my right and notice gentlemen with a name tag that read Victor (general manager). I walked over to Victor and addressed him by his name and asked Victor for his store number. Without hesitation he recited "363". I then asked victor for the name of his employee and she turned to him and said "victor don't give her that, you don't have to give her anything". She then said I hope you know I'm calling the cops on you to get you away from here. I then looked at her and said you do what you feel you must, and I shall do the same. I had not threatened her or anyone else in the store to warrant such a response. I've never heard of a place where an employee did not have to wear their name tags, and two where if requested they did not have to give their name and store number. As I walked back to my car a young woman stopped me and said she witnessed the entire incident and had the exact something happen to her. In my industry; the apartment management industry we call this sort of thing (fair housing). What that means is everyone must be treated the exact same, what you request or do for or to one person you must do the same for all. I have several witnesses besides her and honestly want to see action on the part of Party City and still considering legal action as this is considered discriminatory. I would also like the employees name that I dealt with and Victor the (general manager) should be well aware of whom I'm speaking; as she instructed him not have to release this information to me. Do you in fact not require your employees to wear their name tags you've purchased for them? Do you also not require your employees to release the store number when asked by a customer? If so, I find this in highly poor practice and will not frequent this establish any longer. I would most certainly like to be contacted about this incident and reassured that this is not a common occurrence. Thank you for your time, Kiarra Hogan p.s. I will say victor was extremely polite and professional but I later found out the woman with whom the incident occurred was his supervisor. Great place, clean and very friendly staff. I was looking for small pieces to work on a halloween project and once I explained what I was trying to do, the sales guy walked me all over the store. I've shopped here a handful of times and only because it's a convenient place to get all your party needs at one stop. I almost always find the teenage employees that work there are rude and they act like you are inconveniencing them. This is especially true in the balloon section. I purchased balloons there yesterday and the kid that inflated them was almost hostile. That said, the selection is good (although overpriced) so I will continue to shop there until I find a better alternative. read more

Is zero an option? At checkout, a random employee, Makayla, confronted my wife accusing our daughter of putting a toy in her mouth. They had two toys they wanted us to buy as they weren't sure which toy it was. My wife said multiple times she was pretty positive our daughter didn't touch those toys. (My daughter's 19 months so never too far from us or in our arms.) After a pretty horrific back and forth my wife agreed to buy the two toys. Right then another man walked up saying they first accused his son and wanted him to buy the toys. So they accused two different children of different ages and genders from different families. When my wife called the store the manager said kids put toys in their mouths and he thought it was perfectly fine that they tried to make us and another family pay for the same toys. He then said Caleb (whoever that is) saw the boy do it. When my wife once again said we have a daughter he stood by the assertion that it was fine to make us pay for them. You know because we're both parents of kids and a kid did it (allegedly) so one of the parents should pay. The whole situation was gross and embarrassing. The manager made it clear kids are not welcome in his store. Kind of weird for a store that sells a gazillion things for children. read more

I went to exchange a broken shot glass today that I got for my husband's 50th birthday surprise party. I got $50. worth of stuff and it was all in the bag together. A couple of days after I bought everything I was getting it all out and the shot glass was broken ... :( They would NOT exchange it. APPARENTLY, YOU as the customer has to request that they wrap glass items, so it's not THEIR fault that it broke. Bad policy and bad customer service!!!!!!! $3.99....Really????? If I were management I would think 4 bucks would be worth keeping a customer! Disappointed! read more

I have to add to the poor reviews. I've gone to this store on and off for years, because you can run in and get many party goods quickly, though expensively and with no customer service. However, I recently tried to return some items 1 day after the return date (had mis-read the receipt). Not only did they not accept it, but corporate customer service says this is a franchise that they don't control, and can't force to take a return. Corporate customer service is a mis-nomer also, as they don't return calls, but apparently only log complaints into a database to be ignored. Never again. Oriental Trading Company (which has a great deal of the same material, but good customer service) will get my mass-party-goods purchases from now on. read more

This place has TERRIBLE customer service! Was in today and was never acknowledged by any of the staff the entire time I was there. They avoided eye contact like the plague and had restocking carts in the middle of some aisles. When customers went down the blocked aisles, they did not even greet the customer or make it easy for them to get by. What a mess! read more

Terrible. Just needed a few balloons blown up for a birthday. Every single employee looked confused and people were complaining about their orders being wrong. The "balloon line" was disorganized and blocks the regular line, so people were just jumping in left and right. Anyways, I never got acknowledged after being there for like 10 minutes so I left. DO NOT SHOP HERE! The staff and managers are completely incompetent and rude. I was charged four times for the same item, and when I tried to explain this to one of the managers, Victor, I was shrugged off and ignored. I went home and verified the multiple charges. I wasn't refunded the money party city essentially stole from me for 3 weeks, and their general manager, Anita was very rude and even more incompetent than Victor and would not let me return the item after all the trouble her dumb employee put me through. I understand both of those managers can only get a job at party city for a reason, but I thought being a manager meant they had a slightly higher IQ than their employees, but I was very wrong. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. First, staff there is ALWAYS (without exception) unfriendly and acts like you're annoying them by making them ring up your items. But I ignored it and kept shopping there for the past few years. Until today. Today was the final straw. I bought over $150 of Halloween merchandise there. Including a $35 wig that looked nothing like the picture. Kept trying to take it back but the line was always too long. Finally went today and the assistant manager (not overly friendly) said it had been too long, even though I had my receipt. Wouldn't even engage in the conversation when I said but it wasn't worn because it looks nothing like the picture. I won't be back and I'll discourage everyone I know to stay away. read more

My son loves Party City. So, very often he will bring me here so that he can spend his allowance. The other day, we walked in with an item in mind and since they had just moved (into a much better space), not all items had been transferred. This included the one thing he wanted. Let me preface this by saying my 9 yo son reacts in a huge size 10 way for a size 1 problem most of the time. It's just par for the course with him so I have learned to brace for impact multiple times a day. So they didn't have the item he wanted and just when I thought the s was going to hit the fan, this incredibly sweet woman comes to my rescue. She is on her phone making calls, checking inventory, having her coworker run over to the old store to look etc etc. totally bending over backwards to help us. It saved my day and made his so I appreciated it so much and it made me so much happier to give this place my continued business. And we will be back. PS, if they ever need a spokesperson, my son is their guy. read more

Never go to Parry City to have balloons inflated. The prices are absolutely ridiculous. I was originally told I could have the balloons filled for 1.47 each. However, when I arrived, I was charged 9.99 to $12 each to fill. I feel gouged. I'm sure that if I had more time to research, I could have found a less expensive option, but because I had been quoted the lower price over the phone by a Party City employee, with zero information that larger balloons are more expensive, I had very little choice if I wanted the balloons filled in time for my son's birthday party. At the very least, the employee on the phone could have informed me of the full price range, but they did not. The customer service was also lackluster. Do yourself a favor and find someplace else to go. read more

Although they never seem to have enough staff on hand to answer ANY of my questions, Party City had everything I was looking for at a decent price for my wedding. From party favors to straws for our bar, they had a GREAT selection and in the end I was able to help myself, without their unattentive staff. read more

Holiday return policy is not clearly communicated and POOR customer service. I purchased Halloween costumes for my children online and took the new, unused costumes to this store to return. We followed their demands on how to handle the unwanted merchandise (no returns after 10/21/15 and store exchange immediately with no store credit). I complained to the store manager, Viktor, that the Partycity.com return policy is not visible on the first page of the return policy webpage that reads "For your convenience, you may return your online purchase to any of our Party City store locations. We will gladly accept returns and exchanges within 30 days of purchase with Shipping Receipt or Store Receipt" - no mention of an exception to this policy for Halloween items at the top of the return policy webpage. On my order confirmation email and packing slip received with the costumes, there is no return policy listed. Viktor was condescending, treated me like an idiot, implied that I failed to read the return policy on my emailed order confirmation, unbelievably rude, questioned my integrity and intent, and never apologized. He clearly did not want to represent his company or listen to my complaint. His tone and manner were infuriating. I have recommended Party City to my own customers and mom friends for Halloween costumes but no longer, and you've lost me as a customer. Party City needs to make its return policy clear because your customers *want* to follow their rules but cannot when the return policy is not clearly communicated. You will have much happier employees and customers if you just clarify the Halloween return policy by moving it to the top of the return policy webpage and place it on the packing slip. BEWARE of Party City and this store unless you never want to return an item. read more

Wish I had read the reviews before going to this store. My experience was consistent with other negative posts. I spent $99 and was treated like a nuisance. I waited in long line with only one register open--watching no less than 6 store employees also behind the counter looking busy doing other things. When a new register finally opened, I was asked to spend .025 on a bag (I guess Sunset Valley just adopted the same bag ban as Austin). I told them I just needed to run to my car to get my own bags. I left my items at the counter and returned within a minute. I was told by the cashier that she was no longer open; the team lead actually piped in that she shouldn't have helped me anyhow because she had to doing something else (not helping in-person customers) and I'd have to wait for another register to open. I needed the items for an event that night or I would have walked out and gone to Target or Walmart. What a hot mess---unprofessional workers and team leaders. Save yourself the stress and go elsewhere! read more
