Of course, I came into their business looking like a typical man in gym clothes, completely out of my element in this type of store. I looked more like I belong at a sporting goods or outdoors shop. Regardless of my appearance, I walked through the threshold and was greeted by what would seem your prototypical seasonal music and decor. The store had pleasant Christmas music playing and the smell was something out of Ms. Claus's potpourri lounge. The young lady I approached at the counter was polite, courteous, and to the point. She answered my questions about gift wrapping and offered multiple variations and ideas. I came away with a pleasantly wrapped present with a cute little bow for one of my wife's Christmas presents. I even gave the lady a warning that I'd be back with other presents. Through all my warnings, she smiled and said kindly that that would be no problem whatsoever. We booked the party package for my daughter's birthday. Eight kids painting. Several adults there to supervise, because that's how children's birthday parties work. Right as we were finishing setup -- gifts on the table, kids getting settled -- the manager came out to inform us we'd be charged extra for the adults. Adults who were not painting. Adults who were there to keep nine-year-olds from losing their minds. She framed it as "being flexible." I didn't find it flexible. I found it to be a surprise charge sprung at the worst possible moment, dressed up as a favor. When I pushed back, she told me "it's on our website." It is -- and it says painters. I was too busy managing a birthday party to pull up the page on the spot, but I checked afterward. She was wrong. The policy covers up to 12 painters. We had 8. The adults weren't painting, weren't taking up painting stations, and weren't costing the studio anything -- they were buying snacks and drinks and helping keep nine-year-olds in their seats so the staff didn't have to. He paged for a back up cashier. No one came up to ring on the cash register! The cashier did not even bother to notice that no other cashier came to help. 5 minutes later two other employees walked out by the cash registers, but neither one of them bothered to look up to see what was now over 15 people waiting for a second cashier to open up a second cash register! And neither one of them bothered to call out to the large crowd of customers that they could come over to their cash register to be rung up! They continued to look down, not making any eye contact with customers, at all! I have shopped at this store before, and they FREQUENTLY have 8 to 10 customers in line with only one cashier. I am done! I will not be shopping in this location anymore! This does not happen at the other locations. I just read the other 23 customer reviews below for this store, here on Yelp.
