Alex went above and beyond in helping us get set up to build it ourselves and giving us so many tips ahead of time. We started out looking at Lifetime playsets but once we compared the actual size of these sets to a Rainbow, there was really no comparison in terms of build quality and longevity. The Rainbow can accommodate little kids and big kids of all sizes and I have so much peace of mind knowing it's strong and sturdy enough to hold everyone safely. We've got kids ranging from 2-13 years old playing on this set everyday and they all love it for different reasons. We ended up building this ourselves because we didn't want to wait for the installation lead time. The poor quality of the instruction manual is the only area I cannot give Rainbow five stars (which is a reflection of Rainbow and not Kids Gotta Play). The instructions combined way too many steps into a single diagram on each page and used vague wording or not enough wording to explain the steps. We luckily had the help of a family member who is also a handyman. And Alex made himself available by phone to help answer questions when we still weren't sure on something which was so helpful. Other than that we're so happy with the purchase. I talked to Amy, Stephanie, and Jenny as well and they were all helpful in the decision process! This is a cute little mom and pop shop that's the only game in town when it comes to stores…read moreexclusively devoted to kites (and windsocks, spinners and possibly a handful of other wind activated amusements I don't know the names for). Some friends of mine started something they dubbed Detroit Kite Club. As you might have guessed this involves people getting together and flying kites. I decided I wanted in and after perusing some kites online I opted to go to a brick and mortar outlet as I was going out to Ann Arbor and saw there was exactly one kite store in metro Detroit. The selection isn't huge. They didn't have the cool skeleton or bat kites I saw online. I did, however, get a fantastic large multicolored owl kite that garners positive comments just about every time I've flown it. (Usually at Metro Beach or Belle Isle.) The lady working there was super nice, too. I lost one of the plastic poles that hold my big technicolor owl together and misplaced my reel of kite string so I had to go back and the same lady cut me a new pole in short time after I showed her the one I needed and she didn't have quite the right length. She even gave me an extra free of charge just in case I lose another. And sold me a better reel than the first one I had - I believe this one is 500 feet. That owl can get way up there on a windy day if I let it all the way out. I haven't flown the owl yet this year. I'm planning on going to the U.P. with two other DKC members next month so maybe I'll bring it. They have a kite that looks like a squid. An owl and a squid hanging out - wacky! The Free Design once sang that Kites are Fun and they are. And this is where you can find fun Kites and fun things.

So many valuable lessons learned! I've placed two online orders with Big Lot. Even though both…read moreorders showed they had the items in stock - BOTH orders were canceled as items were NOT available. On the second-order, I used a Visa Gift Card - HUGE mistake. I have contacted customer service via email twice with no resolution. I have contacted customer service by phone - no resolution. I have now been told in order to receive the $45 refund I need to go to the store or call the gift card company to get the refund processed. I will never shop online again with Big Lot and it's highly likely I will never return to their stores either - it's just too time-consuming dealing with all of the issues created by shopping here.
