Not sure why the reviews are so low, but I came in at the last minute to get some candles for a birthday cake and was surprised at the number of choices. And while I did want to get a ballon, because of its popularity I knew it was a small chance of getting it as it was sold out I like Party City as you can always find numerous choices for party favors. Haven't been to Party City in a long time and they still have so much variety of things for every occasion. I didn't need too much from here but from when I was browsing, they have a good selection of things and tons of different balloons. I needed Belle for my niece and unfortunately they didn't have a Belle balloon, just all the Disney princesses in one balloon so that was disappointing. What caught my eye standing in line were these balloons that actually looked like plastic beach balls. I really thought they were but they were just balloons. WARNING!! if you buy latex balloons and get them filled with helium, they only last 6-8 hours. I had purchased a bag of 6 confetti filled latex balloons.. I had them filled up with helium the evening before the party because I had a really packed schedule the next day. I was so disappointed when I found them on the ground the next morning. These were for my 3 year old niece who loves balloons. Stressed and inconvenienced between work calls, I rushed back to Party City to see if they could blow up 3 new ones. They said I would have to pay again. I spoke to the manager, Rosa. Expressed my disappointment and told her that nobody ever told me the latex balloons would only last up to 6 to 8 hours. A FASCINATING WONDERLAND OF COLORFUL PARTY SUPPLIES. Party City on Bristol Avenue is across the street from a humongous and glitzy shopping mall, located in Costa Mesa. The "shopping experience" at Party City and at this huge shopping mall are fascinating places to visit. This is in contrast to the down-in-the-dumps shopping experience that is found along most of nearby Main Street, and found for much of the distance north on Bristol Street, to the north of West Segerstrom. I have been inside Party City on about six occasions, sometimes merely out of curiosity and amusement, because of the huge assortment of party supplies, small toys an novelties, and costumes. On three occasions, I bought party balloons. I buy the large balloons, and I get them filled with helium, and I pay a small amount extra to have the insides of the balloons coated with latex to reduce helium leakage. Also, I always buy about 15 of the balloons, and I choose an assortment of various colors. Then, I store all of the balloons overnight in my 2011 Honda Fit, and at three o'clock in the morning, I drive out to the desert to do photography. Also, I always coordinate my purchase of the helium balloons with a purchase of a decorated birthday cake, from Von's, which is located on Bristol, across the street from Party City. The attached three photographs show what I do with the helium-filled birthday balloons from Party City. I use them for birthday parties in the desert. Who attends these parties? What you can see in these photographs is a green lizard, a tall doll in a pink dress, a short doll named Strawberry Shortcake, and a little brown dog. To conclude, Party City is an efficient and very convenient place to purchase huge helium filled balloons. Also, Party City is a fun place to visit, because the novelties, party favors, and costumes are like eye candy, even if you don't have any immediate need to buy anything. read more

I came into this party city because it's only 5min away from my house. The service is terrible. I came in and there were 4 people behind the counter talking amongst themselves. One was with a customer and two were having a discussion about a transaction (understandable) and the other was just walking back and forth. I waited about 5minutes before they finally acknowledged me. I placed an order for balloons to be blown up and then she informed me to choose other balloons that I wanted. While I was choosing she just left. Another lady told me I had to go back in line and order the exact same thing I ordered already. Then I proceeded to get my balloons blown up and I just watched the person who was suppose to blow my balloons up finish her text before helping me. I then proceeded to watch her overinflated some balloons and one literally popped. Then in the middle of inflating she left to go help another customer. Like most Party Cities, you have aisles and aisles of each color of the rainbow filled with all the cheap party supplies you could imagine. On Halloween, which is when we came here, they also had several aisles dedicated entirely to cheap costumes. Many were for kids, but they had a few things for adults. As should be expected, when you come three days before Halloween it gets pretty crowded. They kept the line moving but most people that worked there didn't look too happy. Overall, I'd say it's one of those places you go when all you care about it how cheap the stuff is, and you're willing to sacrifice things like quality and customer service to save money. read more

I'm so mad I can't even write this. The two females I talked to yesterday are either lazy or just clueless about their inventory. I have spent two days looking for a specific high school balloon and all they had to do was look to see if they carried it. The balloon area is not too far from the counter where the phone is. They told me - "we only have what you see online." I told them I had heard that party city will carry the balloons for the high schools in the area. They said "only what is online". I checked the webpage and no balloons for the high schools. Bummer. I didn't like their attitudes and decided to just go to the next closest store to me which is Orange and spend money on balloons that I'm not satisfied with because they don't have his school. Long story short - this store on Bristol has the high school balloon I'm looking for - and I found out from a friend that was in there that they had them but you have to go in and buy it. No problem. Ran in here on a whim this afternoon, looking for candy and other items appropriate for an adult's birthday celebration. The aisles were spacious, tidy, and generally well-stocked with a wide selection of different holidays, themes, or flavors. Much of what is there was constructed of plastic, and seemed overpriced for what you ultimately get. Unfortunately, while the candy-sorted-by-color idea is a nifty one, they do not stock the item I needed most. Still, managed to get a few ideas for small items useful for future celebrations. Day in and day out, the balloon would still hang around in the living room. My roommate and I grew an attachment to him. We began dressing him everyday, we even gave him a name. Balloony is now 4 weeks old, and still going on strong. My roommate and I are proud parents, and we are planning to enroll him in school soon. Wow. All these reviews reflect on customer service being horrible during the Halloween holiday, and its only obvious that with crowds and high demand, who wouldn't be grumpy? Hasn't everyone worked in retail at one time in their life?? Maybe, or maybe not, but being that it is Party City, and its all about those Party items, its definitely a hit or miss with everything...so take a deep breath and just go with it.. I came to this location a few times prior to Halloween to get those last minute decorations and costumes. The place was a total madhouse of course, but the last time I came was an early Saturday morning where I took another stab at getting the essentials I needed. Staff was alert and ready to assist. I had to wait in a long line of course, but the customer service I received at the check out was superb! The cashier named "Cameron" was very helpful. When I had mentioned to him about a costume size and availability, he was willing to go the extra mile in searching the back area for my size. He also assisted my hubbster in finding some hard to find Halloween decor. Great job sir! Thank you. Perks: Store is fairly clean and organized. Items seem to be well stocked. Balloons are available for every occasion. Downsides: On most holidays including Halloween and Christmas time it could be short staffed, extremely busy and have non acceptable service. This is my second time here in the last week. It's almost Halloween and they have only two cashiers. Line takes forever! Why in the midst of a big holiday would you have only two cashiers who also have to answer the phone? At least this time they have a balloon person. Last week there wasn't anyone manning that post, leaving only one cashier to take money and 5 employees wandering around store. No wonder brick and mortar stores are closing. I called the next day to change the pick up order by an hour later and confirmed. Guess what, I'm here at the store at the time of pick up-NO BALLOONS READY! Apparently they've been out of helium for three weeks so it wouldn't be an issue to stop alll online orders for balloons with helium. Very upset with this company. There are much cheaper places to buy decorations like Dollar tree 99 cent store and Amazon you would think they would make it easy to shop but everything is unorganized.
