I'm sure if you're into costumes, you know that the wigs those Halloween stores sell are crap. For an extra $10 than I would have spend on horrible ones, I got the two perfect wigs I was looking for at Starship Earth! I got to try them on--AND get opinions from the shop owner and staff. I've worn the wigs for my costume and in real life already. Lastly, how did I NOT notice they were a Mehron shop?! For those of you new to cosplay, theater and makeup, Mehron is THE ISH. All the serious haunted houses in NE Ohio get their Mehron makeup from Starship. And they order in bulk so the price is so right it almost feels wrong. And this makeup isn't just for costumes. These are highly pigmented, great quality products that are great for regular makeup, as well. On more thing--the owner and staff were so, so nice when I stopped in and thanked me for being kind to them. I've read some reviews on here of the shop owner not being friendly. This has never been the case any time I've visited Starship. The owner has always been nice and patient with my while I make my purchase decisions. All I've ever done is smile at her and act like a polite, friendly adult. I'm not sure what the issue is, but I've worked in retail--just BE NICE.

The slutty costumes are fun to make fun of and the really extravagant decorations(like a twitching full size body in a body bag) are scarier than the garbage at a haunted house. This is miles above the Marc's closeout section or Walmart. The closest competition would probably be Party City, but even they don't satisfy my spooky jones like this place. i wish it was here all year long for bar mitzvah and wedding present shopping. I almost had a 4-star experience today... almost…read more Once again, I was in search of specific themed party props, etc. I knew no one else would have what I was looking for, but Party City always seems to pull through in those dire situations. I will say that I found almost everything I was looking for! I asked the help of a kind employee who just so happened to walk me over and point out the last of something I needed. Hells yes. Unfortunately the first employee I asked for help was an uninterested teenager too bothered to leave her "post"... womp, womp. After my great experience finding all sorts of great stuff (for cheap), I descended on the check-out. There was one, inefficient teenager (again) ringing out an older lady and was arguing with her over the price of gift bags. Then, that lead to someone cutting in front of me and then continued on with everything imaginable going wrong with the order. Oh yes, price tag arguments, register out of tape, girl waiting for new tape, girl trying to figure out how to insert tape, tape inserted wrong--you get the drift. 10 minutes later, the nice gentlemen who helped me in the first place took me over to a new register to ring out my cart (thank GOD.) I ended up leaving well before the old lady did. So, Party City still sits at 3 stars. They need to make sure all their employees are on their customer service game and not just one of them.
