I want to First say that this Mobil station is way overpriced, the price for regular unleaded was $5.69 tonight. I normally would not go to this Mobil due to the price but tonight there was a detour and I desperately needed gas I wanted to buy $1 worth of gas so I could make it to my regular gas station where the last time I purchased gas the price was $3..95 per gallon nearly $2 less per gallon then the Mobil station. I was informed by the male cashier that I could not purchase $1 worth of gas that I needed to purchase $2 worth of gas . I was tired hungry and just wanted to get home so I purchased the $2 worth of gas gave him my opinion of him and the policy. I decided to share my experience with everyone on Yelp. $1 of gas that I wanted to purchase the male cashier for me that I could not just buy $1 worth of gas I had to buy $2 worth of gas. Incredibly expensive and a very rude attendant who was busy babbling with a vendor as I stood there at the counter. I've seen her many times, but after today I feel like I won't come back. No greeting, just a blank, angry stare like WTF do you want? Oh I'm sorry, am I supposed to start the conversation? Honestly how difficult is it to say hello? To have the most basic level of social graces? If you hate people, maybe get a job where you don't interact with them. Looking through the reviews, it sounds like this lady has been called out multiple times. The store itself is very nice and clean inside. The store itself is great. It has a very large assortment of liquor and wine for a gas station. You could almost say that its a liquor store that happens to have gas. The guys that work here are very nice people especially the older silver haired gentleman. The owner is a very nice guy, and if he knows you, he always makes a point to personally say hello and make you feel welcome when he drops in. He has even given me freebies once in a while just for the hell of it. So why only three stars? Mainly because there is this moody girl who works there and she isnt too nice at times. I've been occasionally delivering bottles for them for a year and a half (I usually work other stores) and I can tell she hates me for some reason. I get along fine with everyone else, so not sure what the problem is, but I go in to buy something and say hi, and thank you, she says nothing. It's too bad because basically everything else is pretty great about this store, I mean the gas is pretty expensive, but hey... so are all the other ones in the area. Went here with 3 of my friends and they accused us of stealing when they had no proof of us doing so, the only reason they thought this was because we were being loud. They stood by the entrance and threatened us with a taser and made us all show them our bags and they grabbed my friend and wouldn't let him go when he told them he didn't have anything. Horrible experience and im pretty sure what they did was illegal and I will be contacting law enforcement since I have it all recorded. read more

I had a $50 gift card for Mobil and the owner did not want to honor it. I don't know why but he kept telling me that it wasn't working when I slid the card and I told him that I got it for Christmas and I had checked the balance and it should be active. He still said it wasn't working until the 4th time when a line formed and all of a sudden it worked. He pretended like I was some scammer that was trying to rip him off when in reality I just really want to get rid of this gift card that I've had in my car for over a year. Not sure what the curse is at this establishment but I will push my car with no gas to the next gas station than to patron this hell hole again. read more

The pumps do not work after 11. It would be nice if there was actual signs on the pumps vs customers standing outside getting frustrated while charging their card multiple times. The gas station across the street is also closed but they at least lock up their pumps. read more

The guys runnin' this place are always polite but I bet they'd get some extra business if they had a bit better selection of snacks/drinks. Smaller places should switch it up and try out a new item once in a while....you don't always have to order beef jerky, coffee, cheap wine and snowballs (does anyone honestly like these things or am I the only one who feels like Woody in Zombieland...I hate these things man). STAY AWAY FROM THEIR AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE DEPARTMENT!!! If I could give them ZERO stars I would. This place is the reason why mechanic shops have a bad name. Trying to get me to get work done, that doesnt even need to be done! I had it double checked at my Toyota Dealership to confirm the shady vibe that I got from this guy! Went in to get an oil change, and while I wait, the mechanic comes out and tells me that there are a few things I should get fixed: (1) Front Brakes: Because they were so low, that it was almost touching the metal. ($175.00 if I wanted them to fix it) (2) Serpentine Belt: Because it was about to "snap," and that that should be repaired ASAP to avoid being "stranded" on the side of the road. Real emphases on this stranded angle. ($90.00 if i wanted them to fix it) (3) Cabin Air Filter: Showed me what it looked like, but i really didnt think it looked bad at all. ($40.00 if I wanted them to fix it). (4) Transmission "Spruce": He didn't really give me much of a reason why for this one ($90.00 if i wanted him to do that too). I told him that I should be okay for now, and after paying, i high-tailed it outta there. Made an appointment the next day to get my car looked at from the Toyota Dealership (where I usually go to get my oil changed). They told me that they do a FULL Service Inspection ($120.00 value) with any service done, so I had them replace my wiper blades for $12 bucks. I explained to them the situation with the other guy, and they gave me a comprehensive report on my car. (1) Front brakes were in the green, good condition. (2) Serpentine Belt was not in the best shape, and should be replaced eventually, but nothing to worry too much about at this point in time. (3) Cabin Air Filter: Okay (4) Transmission: Nothing out of the ordinary. Bottom line, don't go here! I am so glad that I double checked. Totally worth the $12 buck wiper blades that I didnt even need. I was going to report them to the BBB, but YELP is so much better! Customers looking out for other customers, the way it should be. If this MOBILE is hiring shady people like this, it makes me wonder what else this station is doing that is shady.... read more

The pump malfunctioned and I was charged $90 for 23 gallons of gas even though my vehicle has a 17 gallon tank and was only half full. Upon explaining to an employee I clearly did not receive 23 gallons of gas because that would not be feasible he was condescending (lots of mansplaning ensued). read more

I stopped off across the street at Shell to get a propane tank however no one was there to fill it. On the recommendation of the Shell employee i came across the street to Mobil to buy one. The brand they sell is called LAVA. I paid inside and the gentleman helped my put it in my car as well. I thought this was nice since there was no way I could carry it by myself. Customer service is nice with the cashier (possibly owner) giving the gentleman in front of me a free lighter with his cigarettes (don't smoke, kids lol). Customer service is great here. I've had some good car repair work done here at reasonable prices, and the service is friendlier than average (namely, Mike). The workers have stayed late for me, which I really appreciate, and the battery replacement I recevied was reasonably priced. The gas price is average, and it 100% identical to the Shell across the street. So, pick your poison. read more

Alright place with your standard convenience store, however; it looks a bit ghetto indeed. The attendant was friendly, but what was not so friendly was the fact that there was a $1.50 up charge for the maximum cash back they did. At least, have a minimum amount or nothing because I feel like it's poor customer service; basically a money cow. Location is central, and the gas prices are always higher than the usual prices in town; but that's with all gas stations in that area of Mission Valley (Costco as an exception). read more

Thieves. I was told to go inside because the credit card machine outside was out of order. The cashier took my card, supposedly entered the amount, then I went to pump gas. Before I finished my bank fraud department called saying there were several charges on my account from this gas station in various amounts and more still coming in. Hundreds were taken, thank goodness for my bank. They had to cancel my card, and go through that annoyance. read more

I was told to beware on yelp and I should have listened. I live and work right by this place and brought my car in for a smog certificate. I was told $40.24 out the door. I was then charged $61.78 because the service man said I needed a new gas cap. I told him I wanted to get it elsewhere at a cheaper cost. He said if I didn't buy it, he would fail my smog test. So either I waste $40.24 on a failed smog or pay an additional $19.99 on a gas cap. What a rip off, I don't even know if my gas cap was bad to begin with! Watch out for these guys, they also have the same location listed as another name on here so don't let them fool you! read more

After reading a smog review I was hesitant to take my vehicle to this smog facility. I found myself in a jam when I needed to get my girlfriend's"s car smogged. I made an appt with Tony and actually ran late. They were closing shop. I called in a panic and Tony said no worries. They had the car smogged within no time, and made some suggestions that would improve the drive-ability of the car. I have since taken her vehicle back to him and he was right. I have dealt with many repair shops in the past and I feel his pricing is fair and would trust him with all my cars. Thanks Tony and John you guys rock. read more

I'd like to give these guys the lowest rating in the history of yelp. Got an oil change there and 2 days later noticed the hood of my car smoking... opened up my hood to find that they hadn't replaced the cap of the oil tank. oil had splashed all over the engine and the whole thing was a huge mess. I got my car back there and not only did they admit no fault, but they accused me of taking the cap off myself. They agreed to clean off the engine and top off my oil, but fast forward 3 weeks and my engine completely seized up and my car is fried. Looking forward to a lawsuit, thanks guys. read more

I had a low tire light on my car, and so I decided to use my lunch hour to check the pressure and refill them at the nearest Mobil gas station, something I have done before. The air machine seemed to be on, but after ten minutes of trying over and over to fill the first tire, it was literally flat. I went inside and told the young woman at the desk that I thought her machine wasn't working. She said, "You have to push it all the way in, or you let the air out of the tire." Yes, I know that. I asked if there was someone who could help me and said I would be happy to pay, but she said, "We don't have a shop." So I drove across the street to the OTHER gas station on my by now flat tire and used their machine with no problem. At one point the machine turned off, and I went to the shop to ask them to restart it; the man there offered to help me, but I said I was fine. ATTENTION! THIS PLACE IS UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP You will not find a nicer person than Tony. This guy CARES and is extremely knowledgeable about vehicles. We just bought a 1984 Chevy RV and the guy we bought it from said the carburator didn't work correctly. We took it to him and he checked it out and easily could have charged us to "rebuild" it as we were convinced it was that and it could cost hundred of dollars to fix. He went through the whole engine and found that it was the vacuum hoses and he replaced them all, and the belts on the 1984 were rough. He said you can get away with driving it like that, and NO PRESSURE to make the decision, but we decided we didn't want to break down on the way to the desert! He worked hard and long on our RV and made sure EVERYTHING was looked at and he charged us what we thought was going to be hundred of dollars just $150 after 4 hours of work! We were there the whole time and he never stopped. If you want someone who is going to treat you right, call Tony! You wont be disappointed! He normally works on cars, but offered to help us out in a time of need. If you need a good mechanic that works on your cars the right way and treats you the "right" way, call Tony! read more

I don't write many reviews but this is worth mentioning...My check engine light came on just as the deadline neared from the state to get a smog check. I went to the Mobile in Mission Valley because it's close to my place. The mechanic checked it out and told me he didn't think it would pass with the check engine light on and my description of what was wrong. I told him I didn't mind paying for the smog check and asked him to at least try. I wanted to know where I stood but he was right, it didn't pass. He asked if I wanted to leave my car with him to take a look at it. Hmm...Well, I couldn't get my car registered without passing smog and I couldn't pass smog without getting it fixed...The mechanic knew I was in a bad spot. With some skepticism I told him to go ahead take a look and call me with a quote. He called me a few hours later and got right to the point. He quoted me an incredibly fair price; detailed everything that was wrong, every expense, how the procedure was executed and why it was necessary. I told him to go for it, praying that my check engine light would go off and I could pass the smog. He had it back to me the very next morning but said he wanted me to drive it first to make sure the check engine light didn't come back on. I drove a few miles before the check engine light popped back on. I called him immediately, a little upset I wasn't out of the woods yet. He said he knew how to fix it but I was concerned he might try to take advantage of me because of the position I was in. The very opposite became true. He replaced the part and charged me only what it cost him to buy it himself. He had me drive it again to make sure everything was in good shape. He even called me the following day to make sure all was well and to schedule a time to bring it back in for the clear smog. He also told me that when I paid for the original smog check, that payment covered the recheck as well. Rather than take advantage of me in a compromised position, these guys took care of me and only charged me what they needed to get the job done. I had the car back, fixed with clear smog, within 3 days of bringing it in. Good mechanics are hard to find. I don't know about reviews from years back but the guys working in the shop now are legit. When you go there, ask for Tony, you won't be disappointed. read more

Every time I have needed something looked at or fixed, they have been wonderful. Rates are very reasonable...they have never failed to be up front with me. I had some work done in Sept as my check engine light was on (was a fuel sensor...) and needed new battery, front brakes...I told them I had a 10% off service from my Acura dealer and they honored it, no questions asked. I went back a few months later as the check engine light went on again, turned out to be the seal on my gas cap...they just gave me a new one and didn't want anything for it. Have had several things done here...smog check, headlight lamp replaced...always great service. I like to keep things local and away from the dealers if I can..I'll keep coming to MV Mobil! read more

Ok so I do not normally write reviews, but this time I said I would. My car engine timing belt blew up while I was on the 163. I was stranded by the side of the road and had to have my car towed to a shop. It originally went to one off Texas Street where I was told my head gasket blew. The guy at that shop was a good friend of my mom so I trusted him in his accessment. He actually had it towed to Mission Valley Mobil because Tony is his nephew. After speaking with Tony I found it it was going to be about $2000. for all the damage that happened. I went on with the repair instead of buying a new car and getting a car payment. When I got my car it literally looked new under the hood. And drove as such. I have not had any problems since. The only thing is my windshiled got broken in the move or during them working on the car, and when I pointed that out toi Tony he said he would take care of it. I soon was moving out of town and he promised before I left it would be fixed and he came through on his word. You have to admire and give praise to anyone these days that follow through with their words as it doesn't come often. Tony was a stand up guy and deserves your work. The ONLY thing is he said I needed brakes which I knew I did, but wanted over $200.00 to fix them. I went someplace else and got them done for $79.00. I know we all have to make a buck but I shop around with everything I do. I would trust Tony again with any major problems, and reccommend you do to. read more

After receiving a quote of $25 (with a $10 off coupon) from Hazard Center Auto Mart I accidentally went to this place thinking it was HCAM. It wasn't until he told me my smog would be $50 that I realized I was at the wrong place. I paid because the services were already done but I will never bring my car here again. Twice the price for the same service. Not to mention that they don't have anywhere for you to wait while your car is being worked on. They have a disgusting broken char next to an old dirty table... This is place is GREAT! I recommend everyone to try Mission Valley Mobil! They are VERY FAIR and honest in auto repair quotes, and very nice to work with. Mike and the other guys at this place is very, very nice and quick. I am not originally from San Diego (moved here a few years ago) and was going to another auto repair company in PB (that has high reviews, on yelp, but SO not honest/fair with repairs and quotes)...ended up pulling in one day because I had to get a smog check done and the rest is history. Over a year later, these guys have serviced my car, repaired brakes, broken tail light, ran thorough diagnostics...all while NOT over quoting or telling me I need something else done, just because... I am originally from HI where 'word of mouth' is huge! I highly recommend everyone try them out...they are awesome! WOW! What a breathe of fresh air, For the first time, i think EVER, I didn't feel like I was getting ripped off. They didn't try to up sell me any BS. the guys there were very cool and they helped me out. I had a great experience for sure. So great in fact that this is the first time I have ever even taken the time to write a review. last time I needed an oil change I went to a place, by the time they were done I went from a 40 dollar oil change to over 400 dollars for BS!! If i could give them negative ten stars i would! They are scammers stay away from this shop! I had a friend refer me to them and i brought my car in well i picked up my car when he said it was ready and it was returned to me in filth! Seriously what kind of business are you running here. The windshield was replaced but it wasnt even snapped in properly. There was glue all over the inside and outside of car. His excuse oh i forgot to wipe it down? Well my whole car is filthy as well! My front bumper was off by like five shades there was a vent missing and when i called and talked to him about it he got defensive. So i immediately called insurance and had them stop payment the check. I took it to insurance and they put it on a lift. Well well well mister toni! Zip ties holding my bumper together? pieces being bent back together? toni claimed it was some guy he just fired who did it...sure buddy...you run this shop you should be responsible for ever car leaving the shop....the insurance guy told me he scammed about 700 dollars out of my insurance. He begged for me to let him fix it. So i did only to come up with more drama! Ugh this guy should be shut down!
