U-Haul partner and not thrilled. First off my reservation says this location but when I got there they kept telling me that I didn't. It took a few times of saying so for them to pull it up. Somehow on their end it was elsewhere, which made no sense. They then made a new reservation. The truck I was given was filthy. The whole inside had dirt and broken wood in it. The cab dash had 2 different warning lights on and the seat is broken, I'm 5'7 " tall and couldn't reach the pedals. This system is faulty. The truck is unsafe and dirty. The market was nice but I think these guys just wanna make extra money by being a uhaul location and not being as thorough as they should. Just go to a normal uhaul. read more

Rented a uhaul from this location and immediately regretted it. Originally had the car scheduled for 4 days and returned it the very next day. Why? The cargo van literally smelled Ike the inside of a porta potty. I was so disgusted and cannot believe they would even allow this car to be rented out to their customers. By the time I had gone through the check in process, I didn't notice the horrible smell until I drove it off the lot. I had an event to go to right after, otherwise I would have turned around and returned it on the spot. Had to call uhaul customer service and notify the area field manager about the biohazard of a car. I had to spray the entire car with a full bottle of Lysol and that wasn't enough the hide the stench. I've rented dozens of uhauls over the past few months, and this by far was the worst experience I've ever had. Do yourself a favor and go to the main uhaul office locations. Do not rent yours at this Chris Market unless you enjoy the smell of urine. On site guy at Chris market didn't even bother to ask if there was anything wrong with the car when I dropped it off the next day. Horrible and disgusting. read more

i had to drop off a uhaul and it was on my paper work to drop it off at Chris Market. walked in and immediately treated rude. man says i don't care i have no room. not helpful and used foul language at my wife and i. after 10 hours driving i had to get back in the Uhaul and continue looking for a drop off. worst customer service i've ever had. read more

Get ready for a story. When I went to Chris' Market to pick 4 U-Haul wardrobe boxes (because they are an authorized U-Haul dealer, U-Haul store #027635), the store clerk (who identified himself as Chris) acted like he had no idea what I was talking about, after I told him I was there to pick up the order and showed him the email confirmation on my phone with the item picture and order number. he claimed he didn't have any of those boxes and the order didn't arrive. I told him he needed to check again, because I was there to pick up the boxes for my wife who is 7 months pregnant and couldn't come herself. Chris told me he didn't know what to do, and turned away to help another customer. I let him help a few customers and was patient. When they had left, I again brought him my phone and asked for his u-haul store number. He became defensive and asked me "what store number do YOU have?" Having just handed my phone to him for him to identify my order, I found his attitude shocking. I asked him again if he was a u-haul authorized dealer; he confirmed he was. When he gave me his store number, I showed him my phone again and said, "the order shipped here." When I told him I wanted to speak to the U-Haul manager he answers to as an authorized dealer, he told me he wasn't allowed to give out that information. When I called the number listed for his store, 619-985-1543, to see if I could speak to anyone else, it forwarded to HIS phone, and he (not knowing I was the one calling) texted my phone back saying "can I call you back?" When I told him "you just texted me that, and I just texted YOU back a screenshot of the same U-Haul email I just showed you", you should have seen the look on his face. I told him I was going to call U-Haul Customer support, he became very defensive and said, "go ahead man, we don't have the time to deal with that." I told him I had all the time in the world. When I was on hold, I kept the phone on speaker so he could hear I was waiting to speak to someone. After a few minutes watching me stand there and that I wasn't going anywhere, he rolled his eyes and said "let me check." After going to the back, he returned with ONE of the wardrobe boxes, asking "is this it?" (despite me showing him the picture of the items I was picking up in the order on my phone, he had no idea what product I was asking for in the first place. Some authorized dealer.) I again corrected him saying, "there were a total of 4, I need 3 more." He left again, and came back with 3 more. So now I have...4 boxes with no metal hanger bars for the clothes inside, which come included with the boxes in the order. I again asked him to bring me the final parts of my order, and he claimed they weren't there. He asked, "they aren't in the boxes?" When he could clearly see the boxes were completely flat with nothing inside them. I told him they were included in the order and should have arrived to his store that morning packaged with the boxes. He again insisted they weren't there, and refused to check a 3rd time. This guy and his store should really be checked up on by U-Haul, as a so-called U-Haul authorized dealer. Tell U-Haul to ship your order somewhere else, because this guy is lazy and dumb. read more

Chris' Market is tucked conveniently in my North Park neighborhood. If you want to know what I mean by convenient, check out the photos I have posted. Pretty much anything you need, you'll find here and when in a hurry or not wanting to fight the crowd at a big grocery store, this market really has a lot to offer. If you want a special product, or a particular craft beer the owner will be happy to bring it in, if possible. Family owned and run for years, Chris' Market is a local favorite. From milk, toothpaste or pasta, to craft beers and wine plus firewood...and a whole lot more. I'm a fan. read more

Tiny store thats down the street from my apartment. I never would have known about it if I hadnt made a wrong turn and got semi lost in my own neighborhood. Its definitely a locals mini market but they carry minimal stuff. To be honest Id much rather go to the CVS because they have hard liquor and Fresh N Easy because of the better food selection. Like the other reviewer said. Its good for last minute things, if you live near it of course or if you dont have a car and if you can simply walk here. read more

My in-laws and I drive from El Cajon and La Mesa to this market in all of San Diego, because they carry the best linguica for our stuffing at Thanksgiving. Forget the ones you find at Albertsons or another grocer, the brand they carry is more credible. Owners are friendly, and remember us because we only come during the holidays and we clean them out (we buy like 8 packages at $7 a piece). Expensive, but worth it. It is pretty hard to find, especially if it's your first time, even when using GPS. It is tucked away in a residential neighborhood, and it takes a couple of one way streets to get there. I do get frustrated that they do not have longer hours, so just call ahead to make sure they are open. That is the only reason I docked one star. read more

(I'm not sure why "Chris's Market" has been abbreviated to "Chris's Mkt", but I guess that's besides the point....) This place is cool. The owners are super friendly. They have just about every basic item you could want (milk, eggs, cheese, toilet paper, ice-cream, ice, bottled water, beer, wine, laundry detergent, etc.) It just seems like most people don't even know that they exist! (The fact that there is only one other review for them confirms my suspicion.) I'd much rather go to this little neighborhood market to pick up a few quick things than go to CVS, Walgreens, or Vons. I like North Park Provisions too, but this place is much better stocked. They also have a bunch of super cheesy beer posters in the back featuring lots of bikini clad girls....if you're into that sort of thing...... read more

I've been disappointed by several liquor stores in this area selling "expired" craft beer, but not this one! Their selection of local craft beer is always on point, and the service is always prompt and pleasant. If you're after a good six or twelve pack and are in the area, definitely put Chris' Market on your radar. read more

I hate going here, but sometimes I have to strictly for convenience because I live right down the street. The water from the Glacier thing is 10 cents more than at Ray's Liquor. The firewood is $5 a bunch, but only $3 at the organic produce store on 32nd and Thorn. The guys will order whatever beer or wine you want if they don't carry it, but avoid this place if you're a female by yourself....the guys are always super creepy. read more

I had went there a number of times when I came to stay at my dad's home and clerk's werer kind and strong or thoughful to their customers too ! And I went there to buy something etc and with my brother Carlos and the year I went to San Diego that I had my JC Penny bike that cost $125 dollars to $175 dollars and rode my new bicycle around the neighborhood or block and check who would be by the market when visiting and who would go there too ! This is a neighborhood market, so you can't really expect too much from it; what you can expect, however - beer, snacks, some cooking basics and neighborly service - they deliver at a high level. Great beet selection for such a small store and the prices are reasonable. But the most important part of a neighborhood mkt is that they have what you need in a pinch and deliver it with friendliness. I was in dire need of quick rise yeast, they had one pack left; the owner's son was working the counter, and noticed that it had recently expired, so he just gave it to me. The Help they employ at the market is amazing! This one guy that works there (the one with amazing hair) sometimes comes out and opens my car door for me, so thats nice! The owner, I believe his name is Donovan, has a fascination with owning a pink 2012 BMW M5, but I would never hold that against him, it is North Park. I bought my house across the street from the market in 1994. The current owners took over that same year. They ran a Family store with Rack after Rack of Candy for the kids, Healthier stuff for the adults and just about every Ben and Jerry's every made. They owners have never disappointed me with the variety of items they are willing to carry for me... If its Strawberry Pop tarts you want ... just ask and they are on the shelf the next day. If you want Almond Milk cause your getting old and you cant drink the real stuff any longer... no problem... just ask and there it is. Go to Spain and discover a fantastic Red Wine you just LOVE.... When you get home you find it next to impossible to purchase anywhere and the shipping cost prohibitive. Just ask and in a week, it's on the shelf! They deliver groceries for free to anyone in the neighborhood who has difficulty getting around or is just plain sick or not mobile. I've personally witnessed them putting together bags and heading out the door to a neighbors. Your not able to be home to meet the UPS or Fedex Truck... just leave a note on your door to leave it at the Store and when you do get home late from work.... Just ask and they signed for it and kept it in their cooler. I know they support local business and the neighborhood kids activities. Their prices are inline with any other small market i've been into and they always have something on a great sale.... I am confused by all the reviewers who cannot seem to tell time properly... In 24 years of being across the street from Chris's the ONLY time I have ever known them to close BEFORE 9 P.M. was on Christmas Day several of the years. Thats it... has been 9 P.M. forever... I would be embarrassed to go out online and offer false information by not checking my FACTS when giving my personal review of a business. Those criticisms potentially are harmful to a struggling business but Worst of all... They are incorrect. I have no more vested interest in the store than I do for any of my neighbors. If I read some non factual review about anyone I care about you bet I'll be there to get your back for you.... Best Idea of all - Go buy something there ... or just stop in and introduce yourself like a GOOD NEIGHBOR and see for yourself was a wonderful little neighborhood market looks and feels like.... you might be surprised...
