The spa music and the lounge chair did make for a quiet transition from my busy morning into peaceful relaxing mode. Afterwards, I enjoyed a bit of time in the relaxation room. For hot tea, each day they have both a caffeinated and a decaffeinated option. It was served on a cute tray with honey and sugar options. Last, my 90 minute massage. A choice of scalp massage or foot massage was offered and I opted for the foot massage without hesitation. I requested medium pressure and only asked once for a bit less pressure in a sensitive area of my lower back, and my therapist was quick to adjust. I chose the lavender blend massage oil and it smelled lovely. Special attention was paid to my shoulders where I carry most of my tension. Having booked only a couple of days in advance, I did make a deposit of 50% up front and was already within the cancellation window. If more than one service is confirmed, a 20% gratuity for each is automatically added but that was well explained up front and during check out. I noticed a list of monthly membership options during checkout and I'm actually considering joining. It was easy to get an appointment and very relaxing, though I'd probably skip the salt cave and go right to the massage or opt for a facial next time.

The manager rushed me to make a decision on the spot about whether I wanted to pay extra for the rooftop or move to a very small, not aesthetically pleasing room instead. This completely took away from what was supposed to be a relaxing experience and didn't make sense because this was the service I originally booked. The management and staff aren't professional or accommodating. Very strange experience. Following up on Kristy's message here: Urbanna spa accepted a deposit for a rooftop spa appointment. The only reason I booked with Urbanna spa was for the rooftop experience. I intentionally booked on the first day of spring, the weather was 77° with sunny skies and they told me the rooftop was closed after I arrived and checked in. I asked to reschedule on a day the rooftop was open, but no staff could confirm when the rooftop would be open. Kristy (who was not present during my appointment) claims alternative options were offered. Just want to clarify that this is also not true. The only option they gave me tiny room I've attached. I was told management would follow up with a call after my service but Kristy's comment below is the only follow up I've ever received from Urbanna spa. This is not your traditional spa experience. If you're used to high end spa experiences, this will feel very low quality. I highly recommend Woodhouse or Spa At Ballantyne if you're looking for that high-quality experience. This spa has NONE of that. Nor did they have a steam room or sauna for you to enjoy and not even a shower for those that might want to freshen up. When I booked our 2 hour couples massage, I asked for Deep tissue and we basically got a rub down that lasted 80 minutes. Massage Envy has done a better job. I will say the foot scrub was nice but we were there for deep tissue which was an additional charge and we were also told because it was their V-Day special we would get a free spa gift and complementary champagne/mimosa. Never got the gift upon leaving and the champagne and mimosa weren't served in champagne flutes of any sort. This was a huge disappointment and especially for the price! I will not go back to this spa nor would I recommend it!

Because she just came back to work in Charlotte full time. Apparently she has been waxing for 38years and trust me she was the best. It's a one man show but best service I've had. It's clean , precise and quick. She talks through it to distract you and is very kind, friendly and knowledgeable in her field. She told me about changing location soon and going to work 7 days a week at her new location. She likes you not to trim your hair at all and let her trim if need be. When you first visit you are asked to fill out some paperwork and, based on the service you are receiving, whether or not you've had that particular service before. I met Neliah during a night out on the town and she told me that she owned a spa and that I should come to her for a facial. If I'm being honest I was thinking, "That's never going to happen," based on my previous and only experience with getting a facial a few years ago. After my first facial I was told that my face might be a little oily for a day or two as a result of the exfoliating and cleansing until my pores or PH or whatever was balanced. I said fine, no biggie. A little oily I could deal with however, my face was anything but. It looked as if somebody had taken a handful of Vaseline or Crisco, lathered it on my face and it began to melt off in the sun. Embarrassed much? Lets just say, uh yeah! Nevertheless, I would constantly hear so many of my friends and family say that facials were the next best thing since the size of cell phones shrank and no longer weigh 10 lbs. Although part of me was screaming, "You all can have your facials," another part said "Give it another try". I told Neliah about my first experience and she said that should've never happened. So, I reluctantly decided to give "the facial" one more try and man am I glad that I did! I don't think my face has felt this smooth or soft since birth. The spot is a tad challenging to find because its a salon services building (see tip for address change) and it's in it's own individual office. The office is no frills..table, wax, a chair and some cabinets but what else do you need? You hop up and she gets right to it. And the best part?! She uses HARD WAX so while a Brazilian is never a pleasant experience it made it sooooo much less painful. She works in small sections too so you don't feel like she is ripping off your privates in one swoop. We chit chatted like old friends the whole way through, and any good waxer knows distraction is the key to getting you through one of these. The way she works is so quick and methodical that you don't even notice what she is doing and seemed to get the bad bits done early on so the last half is pretty easy. Most thorough one I've ever received without having to endure the painful post wax plucking. TOTALLY WORTH IT. About as painless as you are going to get with a Brazilian.
