I have coming here for a long time. Review is long overdue! Once again, I had a great dental appointment at Pasadena dental center. Luckily no cavaties like last time, but whatever the issue is, bad teeth or cavaties, taken care of quickly at Pasadena dental center. Staff is great. Patty at the front desk is super and Dr nath is great! I have had my dental issues taken care of there...crowns, root canal and other things done/fixed in their care. Their team is the best! My dentist of over two decades retired so I needed to find a new one. Also, my 84-year-old mother recently moved to California and she broke a front tooth. So we both needed a dentist. I read the reviews here and got a recommendation from a friend so we came here. Turns out that friend saw a different dentist from the practice. Admittedly, we were 15 minutes late to an 8:00 appointment, the first appointment of the day. We arrived at the same time as another elderly patient who I assume was early for his 8:30 appointment. This patient was placed in a room; we were in a waiting room. We had completed all new patient information prior to the appointment online. We then sat in the waiting room until 9:00. Another patient arrived during this time and waited as well. To get x-rays, cleaning, for the two of us and a temporary crown for my mother took nearly another 3 hours. We left at 11:45, nearly 4 hours after the appointment. The hygienist was good and pleasant. Hence the two star review. When my mom came back to get the permanent crown, her caretaker dropped her off (I was coming from work). I arrived an hour into the appointment to pick her up and then waited another hour. My mother said that while I was there she sat in the chair for about 30 minutes. No one checked on her. The permanent crown did not match the color of her teeth. Dr. Nath said, "Just drink some coffee and the crown will match soon enough." If you're looking for a new dentist, I would suggest you keep looking. The wait indicates scheduling and service is unorganized and the crown was not quality that matched the high (over $1,000) price tag. read more

Just had my first visit at the Pasadena Dental Center and am very pleased with my experience. I came in for a cleaning and the dental assistant was very gentle with my x-rays. I thought Dr. Nath was very kind and welcoming, my visit with him was quick but he made sure that I was alright and wanted to answer any questions I had, which I appreciated. Vas gave me the best teeth cleaning of my life, his technique is very gentle, and he has an excellent bedside manner. I had a filling pop out last night. My regular dentist was closed today so I found Pasadena Dental Center which was really close by. They were able to take me in right away. I waited about 3 minutes in the waiting room and then saw Dr. Chia. She was awesome! She was able to numb me up without any pain and then repaired the broken filling and another adjacent cavity. Her assistant Maria was excellent also! Always on the ball. Pricing was really fair. I would definitely recommend Dr. Chia. She kept me informed about what she was doing at all times and always check to see if there was any discomfort, which there was none. Can't recommend Dr Nath high enough!! I shattered two of my teeth and cracked another in an accident at the end of last year. Through TWO root canals, repair to the additional cracked tooth, and a deep cleaning I never felt pain once! Dr Nath answered all my questions, and he and his staff walked me through every step of every procedure I required. The office is located in a craftsman house that feels very comfortable. Every room has a TV which the patient can control. Not that you can watch it the whole time! But it's nice that it's there especially if you happen to be in the chair while the Dodger game is on ;) Free parking in the back and never had to wait more than 5 minutes for my procedures to begin after I walked through the door. read more

I've been going to Dr. Nath at Pasadena Dental for more than 3 years. I had a root canal and all kinds of other dental issues and was scared of dentists. He and his staff have been wonderful to me. My husband is blessed with good teeth (and has excellent flossing habits) and just needs the occasional check up - no cavities. They never push procedures you don't need. Once I had a horrible toothache and even though it was Dr. Nath's day off, he STILL came into his office to take care of me! Now that's a compassionate person. They are in one of the old houses that are still on Lake Avenue, but inside things are very clean with excellent equipment. Bought a groupon for teeth whitening and the staff was very professional from setting up the appointment to the actual procedure. I like how during the consultation, Dr. Nath didn't push me to have other services done at his clinic but made sure to bring up to my attention other dental needs I should look into. I didn't feel pressured or uncomfortable and felt that he understood that I was only there to avail my groupon. The teeth whitening was almost painless due to the fact that his dental staff did a great job in administering the procedure. He was very detail-oriented and patient. after 6 years of treatment from pasadena dental center i will not be returning. the current hygienist (the website only provides his name as "vas") is the number one reason why. during my cleaning he removed his gloves and placed them on his tray and left the room to go get something. he comes back in and PUT ON THE SAME GLOVES INSIDE OUT. i must have had a sour expression because he said, "you've never seen anyone do that?" no. no i have not. what even is the point of wearing gloves? now whatever germs may have been on your hands or if you had any small nicks or cuts is now inside my mouth. i can't believe i stayed and let him finish my cleaning. read more

This place is only after your money. I was given an amount that was phony! I called my insurance company to see if what they were changing me was covered and said yes. Then my insurance called them to see why I was being charged so much and they changed it talking about the charge was for antibiotics. That's not what I was told but because they thought I wasn't going to check they were making up prices for me to come off of my pocket. I am never coming back to these thieves! If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I had the worst dental visit of my life here a couple weeks ago, which is saying a lot because I've been to my share of dentists. The dentist is patronizing, completely off-putting, and tries to push unnecessary (and expensive) procedures. Immediately after the dentist, Dr. Nath, gave his "consultation," the financial person was whisked in to get my signature and approval to go ahead with the procedures. Ha! They also wanted to start the same day, probably so that they could start charging fees as soon as possible. The dental technician was a joke -- he sped through the cleaning process, and didn't even remove all the tartar. Not to mention he laughed at my name and tried to back-pedal by pointing out that "a lot of people who come in here have weird names." What a complete buffoon. Last, but definitely not least, the office is housed in a decrepit shack that looks like it should be condemned. It's located on Lake, just north of Orange Grove, which means it's smack in the heart of the blighted area of NW Pasadena. The office was eerily devoid of any patients both times I was there (the first to get my teeth cleaned, the second to pick up my records to transfer to a different dentist). Also, the quality of the facility is indicative of the quality of the tools they use -- the water pick broke even before my cleaning began, and the technician spent ten minutes trying to figure it out, only to be advised by the dentist to cart in a water pick from the other room. I should have known better than to stay after that point -- first impressions really do matter, especially when it comes to someone who's going to get up close and personal with my teeth. read more

I had recently moved to Pasadena and received a flyer in the mail for 'Ouch free and affordable' dental care at Pasadena dental center. What I received was far from it. I was told I had a cavity, which their attempt to repair butchered my gums and damaged my tooth. The filling popped out the same day. I returned, had it fixed and it again popped out the next day. They insisted on "fixing" a molar which I didn't believe to have a problem, but I'm not a dentist so I didn't know an better. Long story shorter, I ended having to go to my old dentist 3 hours away to get it fixed. Fortunately, he fixed it free of charge and it's been fine since. Long story shorter, they are expensive, do lousy work and are the antithesis of 'ouch free'. read more

The dentists are knowledgeable and helpful, and the hygienist is particularly friendly, sweet, gentle, and informative. I started coming here in 2012 when I began work at a law firm in the area and even after moving across town continue to come back. The Dental nurse may have been new as she had trouble setting up the x-ray machine and the dental cleaning unit. But that wasn't even my biggest issue with the service at this office. I liked the dentist, Dr. Patel. She was thorough and nice and gave me a verbal list of all her recommendations. But then they send in Monica to go over the cost and I was shocked by an estimate of $2600. Then told how lucky I was to have dental insurance that would cover almost half of that. I went for a check up and cleaning with no known pain or problems. I was told 2 very small cavities were found and could be filled that day. I asked to see the estimate and at first she was reluctant. Once I saw the estimate I realized why she was reluctant. When I declined the "deep cleaning" at almost $600 that wasn't covered by insurance, the bite guard, and veneer; they made me sign a form that I declined the deep cleaning and tried to convince me that a regular cleaning was little more than "brushing my teeth and then polishing. Never once using the word "tartar" just kept trying to scare me by telling me I had so much "bacteria" in my mouth. They did a quick job of cleaning with the cavitron and polished my teeth after filling my 2 small cavities(so small it did not require any numbing) and I paid my copay. $45 was my total. Big drop from $1600 to $45 dollars. I can afford the $1600 but not willing to pay for unnecessary treatment that is not covered by my dental insurance. Now the only problem is that I have to wait another 6 months to get my teeth cleaned well by another office and have it covered by my insurance. read more

I went to Dr. Ranju Nath at his Colorado office because my husband likes him. He is honest and doesn't tell you you have a cavity when you don't. He told me I needed some procedures--I later researched his recommendations on the internet and everything makes sense. His receptionist miscalculated one of my copays, so always double check your Proposed Treatment Plan costs and know your dental insurance benefits. Dr. Nath also took the time to answer all my questions in a gentle, respectful manner, though he is not very good at explaining things clearly, so I had to ask him questions in detail. I really like this dentist! The only reason i took off one star was because I was there a long time. They were a little slow on getting my insurance and billing information together. Everyone is really nice and helpful. The dentist explained everything and was very detailed. The filling of a cavity was super quick and didnt hurt at all. They are in an old house on Lake Ave. At first i wasnt so sure but inside it is really new and pretty. It is small but I like that. I think they have another office as well on colorado. read more

I went for a first time checkup and to get my year dental cleaning. Two technicians came to get X-rays, and maybe they were new or inexperienced, but they took all the time in the world and even had to take more than one shot of each quadrant. Super uncomfortable!! They told me the dentist would come to perform my cleaning. Finally the dentist came to the room and showed me my X-rays and the list began: "you need a crown here, and here, and there. Here you have cavity, and there, and there. Those might need root canals". By that time I was sooo surprised!! I mean, I know my mouth, and before that visit I had had three fiilings in 28 years and that's it. Also i didnt have any pain that could justify so many procedures! Finally a nurse came with the estimates for so many crowns and root canals and she was almost forcing me to schedule an appointment to perform those. She also said that the cleaning i needed was a "special one", the type they do by quadrants in different appointments and refused to give me the normal cleaning that day. I left the office without my cleaning, with a very expensive estimate, but also without scheduling the urgent appointment for the procedures. Really scared, i consulted with a new dentist: she told me NO WAY you needed crowns and root canals! A couple of fillings and here I am, perfect! read more

Visited to get a lot of work done and had the following experience. Dr. Nath joined two crowns (using one as a splint) because one tooth did not have enough structure. The way he explained it, I thought I had no other choice, come to find out there are other options. Later when I went to another dentist(about a month later) I was also told that my gums would not be healthy (which Dr. Nath conveniently left out) and the margins on the crown were already open. After I told Dr. Nath this he said he could split the crowns, he can refund me or he can continue to monitor it. Considering that I changed him as my provider that left me with just getting a refund. It's almost been a year since the original procedure and now his office is refusing to contact me about the refund. Every time I call the answer I get is, "Dr. Nath will call you back." All of the pain of the procedure and top it off with unprofessional behavior. I will be reporting to the dental board. The rooms are also not as up to date as i've seen other dental offices. read more
