At one point we tried another dentist in the past just to compare and they recommended dental work and products I didn't need. I've never in my life had a dentist that requires a check-up and requires x-rays and then you have to come back for a cleaning. Looks like some of the reviews are positive, but what an unnecessary and, because of 35 years of my own experience, a practice designed to extract as much money as possible from the customer and insurance companies. ***This review is not about the front of house or the normal xray/ cleaning stuff or billing.*** I have been in this office EIGHT times in 3 months and seen 3 doctors now. I wish I could give a higher score, but I am deeply disturbed by the conduct, professionalism, and lack of regard for pain. The visits started well, but then declined quickly. I came in with an emergency crown. They were fast enough to see me, which was great. Dr. Wyndhamsmith talked to me about what was needed (wonderful), and we went ahead with everything. In the middle of the most intense part, the assistant and dentist started bickering like a married couple. Not cute and really unprofessional. They may have thought they were being funny, but when you are stressed out getting a crown, please stop. Respect your patient. It was so chaotic it left me on edge about being able to trust that these people were actually paying attention to my mouth. I wish I had just not come back after. A week or two later, I went in to get an X-ray and regular cleaning. If you are fine with people throwing polishers at you that sound like drills, by all means. Note: polishers can hurt if you have sensitive teeth. I asked her to slow down and talk to me about the device as I have sensitive teeth. She seemed surprised that the drill-sounding device freaked me out. She gave me some Novocaine (thanks), but I will never do that again. Front teeth have been hurting ever since. She found a tiny cavity that the Wyndhamsmith didn't even notice during the evaluation or from the X-rays, and he said, "yeah, whenever you're ready, come back, we'll get it fixed". Again, pretty normal. What happened after is when I realized never again... I got a filling from a doctor (Cannot remember his name) I had never met, and a sloppy technician. I went home and 3 days later started having deep zinging pain when I ate (over a small filling?). OK, things happen. I go back and have ANOTHER moment with someone shoving a potential drill down my throat with no novocaine. He looked surprised. "I need to get to it." Yes, but TELL ME WHAT YOU ARE DOING BECAUSE THIS STUFF CAN HURT. Smelled the burning matter and the sound of what I thought was a drill. I closed my eyes and tried not to cry. I was on pain meds for days. A week later, I had to come back again (over the same tiny filling). This time, they wanted to see if I needed a root canal. Tiny filling, turned into a root canal in 2 weeks??? Dr. Kim (#3) took another polisher to my mouth, pushing on the zinging nerve several times until I pushed my hand up and asked him to stop. He tried again. I was so upset I almost left, and I should have. I burst into tears. "I need you to tell me what you are doing, what is going on? This is hurting, and you aren't listening to me. Why do I keep having to come back here to get hurt? I don't understand why such a tiny filling is becoming such a project." When it was finally over, he THEN explained everything. I left in tears. Well aware this was a trauma moment for me. Apparently, asking to be treated with respect as a human being is a foreign concept. Someone previously said Dr. Kim should work in manufacturing or on cars. I 100% agree. He just sat there like I was a baby having a tantrum. 3 visits over a filling is insane. I have never had this experience before. Emotional intelligence is nonexistent here. I have gone to a dentist every year at a minimum since I was 3. This was the worst experience of my life, and it is not normal. I have a healthy mouth. I cannot imagine what would happen to someone not taking care of their teeth. This office is why people have real fears of dentists. You can add me to this list now. I will never step foot in here again. read more

"I don't know why people rate this place bad" is easy to say when you're not actually dealing with the same experience as real patients--or when you're connected to the industry. It's even more questionable when another dental business is defending this office. That doesn't come off as an unbiased opinion--it looks like favoritism or trying to protect each other instead of holding each other accountable. Patients are rating based on real experiences. In our case, appointments were scheduled for cleanings, all information was provided ahead of time, and after showing up and waiting, we were told we couldn't even be seen and had to reschedule due to requirements that were never disclosed. On top of that, staff--including supervisor Marisol and the front desk--were unprofessional and dismissive. So yes, there are valid reasons why people rate this place poorly. Instead of dismissing those experiences, maybe listen to them. That's how businesses actually improve. read more

Receptionist is super RUDE. I tried scheduling again for missed appointment she made me feel bad for it and snickered. I told her I needed a root canal and she was basically asking why I didn't do it with my first dentist. Mind you that first dentist made me feel super uncomfortable and tried to get me to do other service I didn't want to do aka an implant. She told me I need to pay the deposit of 150 I was fine with that. Then when I told her what time would work she was like oh by the way you need to pay it right now. I was like uhh okay never mind. I do not want treatment done by a dentist office that has unhelpful and condescending receptionists. I've never been talked to like that by any health care worker. read more

I had all my wisdom teeth removed. It was amazing and I felt nothing. Before the removal I had an infection and since before it was recommended that I had my wisdom teeth removed. I put it off but I am glad Dr. Wyndhamsmith did my extractions. Everything healed nicely and I highly recommend this place. read more

I reached out to my insurance company again today and they confirmed they spoke with this office on Friday (before the office posted their response) and it was confirmed the office received payment from my insurance company for the services rendered: no grievance was filed by me denying work was done and no payments were rescinded LOL. This excuse for a dental office also told my insurance company they needed an additional 30 days to review my account to figure out my refund... though they were paid in May!!! Also confirmed they submitted billing for services completed in April; the work was not done until June 11. FRAUD!!! Did I mention no one from their office has reached out to inform me that I was RIGHT and apologize for accusing me privately and publicly of filing a claim for subpar work resulting in payments to the office being rescinded. Or even an update as to what they confirmed on Friday. Or their new made up timeline to process my refund. Go figure. My family has also reached out to their insurance company to verify claims of service to ensure no fraud has taken place given what they did to me. They are also seeking a new dental office as of yesterday. Can't wait to see them shut down so they can stop defrauding patients and the insurance companies! read more

It pains me to write this review. I have been going here for over 15 years. I got married and my husband started going to Pasadena Dental. We were both so pleased with the service and particularly with the front desk staff. We loved Keisha! The last time I made an appointment for cleaning, someone other than Keisha made the appointment and said I also needed a check up. That was fine. I got there and had my whole set of x-rays. I then waited for a dentist to do a check. All fine. I was then put back in the waiting room for the cleaning. I was having a particularly difficult day at work and thought I might come back for the cleaning as it was taking awhile. When I asked the woman at the front desk all she said was, weren't you told you had to have a check up? That wasn't the issue - I never denied that. Then more waiting. I finally said I needed to reschedule the cleaning. She stated I was told I had to have a check up (this seemed to be her primary focus!). She then said there was a cost to come back. I was contemplating it. Then she asked me to pay for services. I ALWAYS paid after. She said that was the policy. I asked for the manager that stood on the other side of the waiting room from where I was to talk about it (complete lack of privacy). She said it was always the policy to pay in advance. I said I guess my husband I will go elsewhere. She said fine. However my husband recently went back for a cleaning and told he needed several procedures. They said they would call with the costs so he could schedule. This was over three weeks ago. No call. He called a few days ago and they advised they would call him back. No call back. Not sure what is going on in this once lovely office but at this point I guess we have no choice but to find another dentist. read more

My wife transferred her insurance to your office before the appointment and confirmed it was active after the service. She called multiple times to verify coverage, and after two days, her insurance portal showed your office as primary care provider. Despite this, your team refused to check her coverage and kept holding off her calls and gave her same quote and don't want to even talk to her. Also, the claim that 'no other office wanted to treat her' is false. She has since been treated by another office efficiently with same procedures and just finished today but affordably, without the excessive charges your office quoted. Her frustration stems from your unwillingness to verify coverage and the treatment coordinator's lack of care in explaining costs. How do you explain saying her benefits weren't valid? Is it due to a system issue or neglect by your staff? This experience has been deeply disappointing. My wife is a respected quant developer, and we chose to purchase our home in Pasadena because of its commitment to diversity and inclusion. I never imagined we would encounter such rude, arrogant, and racist behavior on Green Street. As a UCLA alum and my wife a USC alum, we can confidently say we have never been troublemakers, nor have we ever given a business less than three stars. Instead of addressing the process, quality of care, and the coordinator's attitude, the owner fabricated a story, claiming my wife, who is very knowledgeable, is a confused patient who no other office would take. It's quite absurd and amounts to gaslighting other new patients. Today, she received the same procedures with proper support from the entire team at another office. "Avoid Pasadena Dental Care if you have an HMO plan -- they treat you like a walking wallet, not a patient. They are dismissive, unprofessional, and downright disrespectful. My experience was horrifying, to say the least." I scheduled an urgent appointment for severe tooth pain, hoping for care, but was instead faced with blatant disregard and upselling tactics. After a quick x-ray scan, a staff member briefly mentioned I needed a root canal, but no further explanation was given. I asked why, what the procedure entailed, and what my options were -- all basic questions any patient deserves to have answered. Her response? "The treatment coordinator will explain." 30 minutes later, the "treatment coordinator" -- who, shockingly, was just the front desk receptionist -- presented me not with information about my health, but a price list. I was told I had to pay $1100 for the root canal and $1300 for a crown. No clarification about my condition, no breakdown of procedures -- just a demand for money. The entire time, the receptionist emphasized that because I have an HMO plan, I would need to pay this out of pocket, as if this price gouging was standard. When I asked her again about the medical necessity of the root canal, she gave me a blank stare, like I was shopping for an item instead of seeking medical care. The whole ordeal felt like a transaction, not a consultation. Even worse, when I requested my x-ray to get a second opinion, they told me it would cost $50! And to make matters worse, after contacting my insurance (Aetna), I learned that the root canal was supposed to be 60% covered under my plan. I also did some research and found that root canals generally cost around $200-$400, nowhere near the $1000+ I was quoted. When I tried to resolve the pricing discrepancy, I was repeatedly dismissed by the rude and unprofessional front desk staff, particularly a woman named Christina. She refused to assist and was even condescending and disrespectful throughout the entire process. After seeking a second opinion from another dentist, I was told that I didn't even need a root canal. This only confirmed my suspicion that Pasadena Dental Care is more interested in overcharging patients, especially those with HMO plans, than providing real medical care. If you have an HMO plan, I urge you -- do NOT go to Pasadena Dental Care. Their prices are higher than most clinics, and they treat you like a number, not a human being. And if you have PPO insurance, be prepared to face similar gouging. Save yourself the frustration, money, and stress. This is an update based on my fiancé's experience this week. He came in for a routine, basic dental cleaning. After his cleaning, they told him that he needed x-rays.BUT can't do the X-rays same day. This is not normal for any dental office! Do not come here, so many other options in pasadena. I switched immediately after my first visit but my fiancé stayed bc of convenience. Mistake. He was upset after coming to do his x-rays the next day that they made him sit over 30 mins for the x rays and then an hour just to tell him the results. Guess what? So many terrible things I'll say about this place... 1. They surcharge debit cards - illegal 2. I was having a toothache so I came here as I made them my general dentist earlier when moving to pasadena. The doctor said, if anything gets worse I'll need a root canal, but explicitly said I do not need one now. Fast forward, when I came in last week they 1. Lost my insurance or couldn't locate it?! So my appointment was delayed because... she's slow. 2. They said "oh you need a root canal and we told you this" 3. Was trying to deny doing my root canal because the dentist "doesn't want to work on me if I'm not comfortable." Anywho, once we cleared all that up I was confirmed for a time, gave my deposit & they so generously took off my surcharge fee. The next day they called me and said "this procedure is too complicated for the doctor to do and I'II have to go somewhere else" and refunded me the deposit. To be thorough though I think Christine or Diana was nice and helped me find an in network endodontist, so shoutout to her. Let's fast forward to the place I was referred to only does root canals and not crowns. They said I'll have to go back to my general dentist for the crown, so I call and I'm not that surprised that "no one will be in town until march to do my crown so l'll have to go somewhere else" Read my note, go somewhere else. The person who took me back and did my x-ray is why they have 2 stars. I have severe dental anxiety due to dental trauma in the past. Before the dentist came back she was WONDERFUL at explaining what would happen before she did it. She made me feel ok for a short bit. Then it all went downhill from there. The dentist Dr Kim came in. He was too efficient for me. The dentist did not even do basic niceties like "Hi I am...." he walked in and said open your mouth..... Then he talked to the assistants the rest of the time. He was too efficient to answer WHY my face is so swollen. He told me the billing person. He did not have time to answer that BASIC question..... That turned me off but I was in so much pain I was willing to pay anything to get rid of that awful pain. Then I waited OVER AN HOUR! The billing person finally came in..... She gave her opinion on how awful my insurance is and the need to tell me how awful my dental insurance is and I should get a PPO. (I do NOT have a choice of PPO vrs HMO). After she was done telling me I have the wrong type of insurance she then started spouting off words I do not understand (besides root canal) and cost. When she was done I told her I was completely OVERWHELMED and in a LOT of pain and I could not comprehend all the info she spouted out. I asked her to email me with the cost of GETTING the pain taken care of ASAP. I added I would need to space the non-URGENT stuff over a few months because according to them my insurance covers NOTHING. For some reason, I thought she would follow through like she said by the next morning. She did not send me the info I asked for, so I emailed the office asking for the cost of the reason I had the pain and swelling portion so I could plan to pay for it... I called and emailed and finally got the form at almost 5pm (453pm to be exact) I did not get a the cost of ______ is ______. I got a pink form with handwritten notes. The notes are codes and aberrations that I do NOT understand at all. I responded with the simple question of HOW MUCH do I need to pay to deal with the pain and swelling... The answer, call the office. I will not be calling the office. If you can NOT answer without including everything I won't be back. I can't pay for everything right now and you all do not want to talk about spacing things out. IT seems like they want all or nothing. Emergency Appointment time 2pm Done with doc 2:40 pm The billing person finally came in at 3:50 pm. That was way too long for someone crying in pain. NEVER AGAIN. The only reason they have 2 stars is the lovely person who took my X-ray. Ohh if you have mobility issues this office SUCKS. I am 5'5 inches tall and all of the seating was too low for my joint issues. There was 1 (SINGLE PERSON) standard height chair, everything else was super low. ALl of the other seating was mid-calf and had no armrest. I would have been able to get down but getting up would have been very difficult even with my cane. read more

Save yourself some time and go somewhere. I called to schedule a teeth cleaning. Just your basic ol teeth cleaning. Nothing fancy. I got there and they stated they needed to take X-rays. Sure, got those done. They stated they couldn't perform a teeth cleaning because I needed to schedule an appointment with their hygienist. Okay, fine. I go to the front desk and they stated that I needed to pay out of pocket for 4 quadrants or whatever and that insurance doesn't cover it. Keep in mind, I have Anthem PPO dental insurance so I would assume that they would at least cover a portion. But no, they stated that for hygiene I would have to pay out of pocket. It was roughly about $400-600 each quadrant from what I remember. Ugh. I asked if I could just skip that and JUST have a teeth cleaning. And they said no. That's not how things are done there. I wish they would've told me that in the case of needing to see a hygienist that you have to pay out of pocket. Ugh, such a waste of my time. I ended up asking for my prior x-rays from this place because I was so fed up and went somewhere else. Saw a hygienist that my insurance partially covered and finally got my teeth cleaning. I don't know how putting your personal rudeness over a potential client that can bring in thousands of dollars is more important. I see the doctor like to make excuses for horrible customer service, but we were never aware of an appointment made for us because they cannot provide actual proof an appointment being made and we never made an appointment. THEY made an appointment without our consent. All we were told was to just get there before 11 o'clock hit. But I called to make an appointment for Thursday trying to explain that my autistic son had services earlier than usual 2day but was being rudely interrupted saying he already had an appointment 2day! April 10, 2025 I went for re bonding a cap on my left lower incisor. It had come off after using a new vibrating tooth brush. It was in good shape and I put it into a jar with alcohol. My Insurance provider Deltacare told me there would be no charge to re-bond the tooth because its a covered procedure for which the HMO pays the dentist monthly. I told that to the receptionist upon my arrival but when the dentist saw me he said in a gruff voice: "it will be $125 ...do you want me to do it?" I nodded yes. The work was done perfectly and the assistant was kind and thorough. When I got to the billing clerk she said the cost would be $275 because it was a "problem tooth" and her experience was the insurer would deny the claim. I felt like I had been "taken" in a "bait and switch situation". I paid with a check to avoid a 3% fee they charge for credit card. They also charge $5.00 each time you sit in a chair but they excused that this time. I had been a customer for 15 years but switched dentists. read more

Even though our daughters wanted us to switch to a more child-friendly dentist, I kept us there because of the friendly staff including Keisha who knew us by name. Recently, she was replaced by a condescending office manager on a power trip. With two phone calls, I found another dental provider who offers us much better service. read more

Even though my mother did not have the best experience with one of the dentist's here. The office staff was extremely kind and thoughtful. They were very helpful and checked on her after she was visibly upset. She may not have been in pain at all, but I do understand that everyone has their good and bad days. Especially as an educator, I can understand how overwhelming things can be at times. With that said it's okay to communicate with people that you are feeling overwhelmed or if you need a moment. So in the future, I hope that the dentist can consider that when dealing with his patients and ensuring that they have a positive and comfortable experience. read more

Woah this receptionist is fiesty! I called to make an appointment and we started the process of setting up an appointment. Then the receptionist asked me to check with my insurance first to make sure Pasadena Dental Care is in-network (which I already checked beforehand). This is a fair request considering how complicated insurance gets, so I get why he asked. He also mentioned that my insurance may or not still be accepted due to some contracts between the clinic and the insurance. So I ask him to cancel our appointment and he responded with "whatever" and hung up. Granted, I did cut him off because he was droning on about the B2B contracts, but he definitely didn't have to be so unprofessional. I chose this dental office out of others because the the reviews for the doctors were great. Too bad I won't get to find out... I definitely don't want to encounter the receptionist, so I'll have to find another dental office. read more

Dentist was very unprofessional and did unbelievably sloppy work. Hygienist was wonderful and corrected his sloppy work. Came in for a Maryland bridge re-cement (literally the process of glueing a tooth back on). I have had this bridge for 8 years - it was very expensive and custom molded to my mouth (the bridge was put in place by another dentist). I came to Pasadena dental care to have it re-cemented after it came off after biting into a bagel too hard. I have had this tooth re-cemented probably a dozen times over the years, so I know how it should be done. The old cement is typically removed from the surrounding teeth, the surrounding teeth are cleaned and dried, and the bridge is re-cemented to the clean, dry surrounding teeth. At Pasadena dental care, the dentist did none of this preparatory work and just glued the bridge back to the surrounding teeth, no cleaning. Furthermore, he glued it so that it was not level with the surrounding teeth - it was above the surrounding teeth by about a millimeter. However, instead of promptly fixing it, he left the room and told the hygienist to SHAVE DOWN MY BRIDGE TO BE LEVEL WITH THE SURROUNDING TEETH! This was a $2,000 bridge custom molded to my mouth!!!!! There is no reason for it to not fit properly in its place!! I was horrified. Thankfully I told the hygienist I would really appreciate if she could remove the bridge and replace it at the correct height, and she obliged and was very nice about it (I think she knew he did a shit job). She did an excellent job fixing it. Overall, the dentist was very unprofessional. Talked over me, laid all of his instruments on my body instead of on an instrument tray, and most importantly tried to destroy my expensive, custom Maryland bridge because he was too lazy to glue it down at the appropriate height. read more

Receptionist not wearing mask WOW!! 1st visit lasted less then 2 min after signing in and sitting down I look up cause the female receptionist is having a loud conversation over her desk to another patient and the reception completely has her mask down around her chin. Now let's be clear it wasn't under her nose slipping unintentionally It was completely under her chin fully exposing her nose and her mouth. I walked out right away. Pasadena Dental Care should be embarrassed that they have the balls to send me info about Covid before coming in but they operate with such disregard. I asked the last upper tooth which had the root canal and crow many years ago and now has cavity to be pulled. since I have no lower tooth on the right side to chew any thing, it made sense to extract it. I also told them I am a senior with fixed income. Dr Kin or Kim refused to do that and mentioned I should do another rout canal and put a bridge to save a tooth which has no functionally since there is no teeth in lower part. His recommendation in turn cost tens of thousands of dollars. When I said I don't want to spend so much, he said then go somewhere else. This is the ethics of some dentists today. I do not recommend this dental office to anyone. They are all about taking your money and not giving you the service you deserve. Pretty sad! read more

They make you feel uncomfortable and mistreat you as if you are suppose to know everything about your teeth. I did not go to dental school so how do you expect me every dental terminology. The receptionist were so rude and dry not willing to help which is why I requested to speak to manager, and just got worst treatment!. AGAIN making me feel like it's my fault and shamming me about the treatment I needed. I go to get help and instead get judged!. The doctor is just like the other workers!. Greedy, dry, and selfish!. Please do not come here. I will forever regret coming here and it will haunt me that places like this exist. If you are going to work with people maybe learn how to interact with them and be HUMAN. I TRULY never heard of this place but not only is the Dentist GREAT but the front office staff was so friendly and KUDOS to Jessica the dental assistant who made my 2 visits VERY comfortable. She helped calm my heart while patting my hand and at times holding it to assure I was ok. No OTHER DENTIST group for me. These folks were ALL I NEEDED!!! GOD IS GOOD read more

I've been coming here for 20 years or more. Always great care . I come for extra cleanings during the year and they always work with my schedule . I love my hygienist Ana. My children have also started coming here . They were very attentive to their needs and gave good recommendations. Now If we would all remember to floss our teeth . read more
