W-O-W This place is amazing! But here is a tip, call ahead and place your order! They make everything to order (and none of the fish is frozen) so it takes some time. So if you know you are going to pass out smelling the awesome food while waiting just call ahead. As for the food: Catfish Strips - awesome, the breading wasn't super heavy and was nicely seasoned and fried to perfection Wings - wow, I think these might be my favorite chicken wings now, they also aren't heavily breaded and have a great seasoning on them that makes them super delicious Fried Shrimp - these were pretty good Ribs - these were tender and the bbq sauce was great (the hubby loved these) Candied Yams - wow.... these were so amazing! We ordered Jamaican chicken curry, ribs, fried catfish, and another fried fish, but I don't recall which. It was all delicious, complete with sides. I grew up a stone's throw from this spot and never ventured inside, in all my years living in Pasadena. I've fallen in love with their po boy sandwiches. The quality of the shrimp is excellent - the shrimp is huge and fresh, practically prawn-size, with a flavorful breading and a nice, satisfying crunch. They're served on gargantuan, fluffy white rolls (seriously, this sandwich is the size of my forearm) and stuffed with lettuce, tomato, and pickles. The fried okra is also pretty delicious; battered with what tastes like the same seasoned cornmeal used to make the hush puppies. Hush puppies... how can you go wrong with hot, fried, crispy, savory dough? They do have Jamaican patties here, which is not something I grew up with, but appears to be something of a hot commodity on the west coast. It's an orange hued, flaky pastry filled with spicy, heavily seasoned meat. I've bought some frozen to go, or ordered them hot, and they're pretty delicious. I have not tried their Jamaican dishes because I've become something of a one trick pony with the po boy sandwich and the patties, but I definitely plan on returning to this spot for the jerk chicken or curry goat some time. The woman who always takes my order is so sweet and hospitable (she calls me "baby girl") and their love and hospitality shows through in their food. Wow!! I'm glad I finally tried this place out. Very delicious! We ordered the seafood dinners. The red snapper and shrimp combo and jumbo shrimp dinner. Both orders came with 2 sides. We tried the Mac n cheese, fries, plantains and yams! The seafood is fresh! You select your pieces, they clean it and cook for you! You can really taste the freshness!! And those yams, my goodness, they were so delicious! And the plantains! I believe they are Jamaican owned (I saw the flag in the dining room), but they have oxtail, jerk chicken, beef patties, curried goat on their menu as well. Not too mention the cans of Ackee on their shelves. Anyways, they were pretty busy tonight so my order took a while. Maybe because it was Friday evening. I honestly can't stop thinking about those catfish strips I got two weeks ago at this place. It was COVID, it was crowded, but dang was it worth the wait! I love fish fry's, just not this place. I had the Snapper Dinner with Mac and Cheese and Okra. I also got a extra side of beans and rice. None of it was good, none of it was horrible either. Fish was breaded in corn meal, not seasoned or flavorful at all...and that was the "good" part of this meal. Mac and cheese tasted and looked as it had been sitting for several hours...cheese skin on top and mushy pasta. Okra was breaded in the same corn meal used for the fish, again lacked seasoning and any taste. The worst was the beans and rice. One bite and all the moisture from my mouth was gone. The fried fish here is really good with a very nice batter. The prices are hard to beat at $5.95 for lunch with two sides. The downside would be eating there. Not the best ambiance, so get it to go. Yep, I read the reviews and decided to try it. I realized there was a Caribbean influence and they say they're soul food so I gambled...I ordered the curried goat, greens and black eyed peas. Bold choice I know. It was good...but just good. It took forever to get it. There were 2 people there. it's pre-made as were the sides. 10-15 minutes ok. But 35 minutes to put it in a to go container? The flavors were middle of the road. Maybe the wait tainted my opinion. But the crazy hate filled racist Farrakhan propaganda paper really turn me off. I see post about black owned. Color and race are unimportant. I don't care if it's black owned, I don't care if Jesus himself owns it. I care about service, taste and quality products. This a great for seafood done right. For the first time since I moved to Pasadena from New Orleans, thirty years ago, I found fried seafood like back home. The oysters were cooked to perfection, tender and juicy on the inside and lightly crisp on the outside. The portion are exceptional. I also tried the Jamaican dishes. The curried goat and the oxtails and peas and rice are equally good. Most of the sides are well seasoned and quite tasty. The facility is adequate. I wouldn't eat there because it smells like a fish market. It is a true neighborhood place. The people are friendly and friendly conversations erupt with customers while waiting for your order. Speaking of waiting, the wait for your order is a bit long. It is best to call ahead. I will definitely be back again and again! read more

I live down the street from here, so when I'm craving fried seafood, this is the place to be. Prices are affordable, and food is always fresh and made to order. It will take some time for them to make it, but worth the wait. You can always call in your order ahead of time. My usual is the lunch special, and I get the fried shrimp and oysters. Good size, and well seasoned. Delicious, actually. They also have Jamaican patties here, but it takes a REALLY long time to make, FYI. Their side dishes are also great, by the way. Sadly the Jamaican food is pretty good but the order seems to always be missing something. Postmates refunds the missing parts of order but thats not the point. So disappointing when you don't get what you ordered. It has happened too many times over the past couple years even though I had complained about it in the past.
