The ticket machine was broken so I pressed the assistance button, and I was allowed in. After I parked, I went to a cashier by the exit and told him what happened. He told me to just let the cashier on duty know when I left. I sort of had a bad feeling about that since I figured it would be a different person by the time I would leave. Hours later (I had gone to see a movie at the ArcLight), I headed out. I told the cashier (different dude) what happened. He said next time I should go to a cashier to get a ticket. Ummmm...I literally told him that I DID go to a cashier. That guy didn't even offer to get me a ticket. Anyway, he asked to see my movie tickets and then just charged me $2. Then...the cherry on top...he gave me a ticket. Like, as a souvenir?! I'm leaving, fool!! These parking attendants need more training on what to do when things like this happen so they don't send mixed messages and try to exercise the little power they have in their little booths. Well, I've been going to this place for a while and yes it's a pain to find parking at times but, then there's days where it's like okay sweet. Well yesterday (7/18/14) I went to dinner then a movie, long story short, got in at 8pm (got the ticket) then by the time the movie was over 11pm (had the ticket validated). As I walked down to the parking lot to pay the advertised $2 for 4 hour parking with validation, the machine takes the ticket then suddenly the machine states "cancelled." Thus my ticket was eaten by the machine! I was taken aback a bit because this never has happened to me before. Perhaps they're letting everyone out for free? No, I looked around and everyone had to be paying with their ticket. With no proof to show that it was validated I had to pay the daily maximum of $9! Yelp won't let me give it zero stars, but if I could, I would. There are not words strong enough to express my loathing for this parking structure. It is impossible to navigate, the signage is terrible, it's always extremely crowded . . .I feel like it actually attracts rude/oblivious drivers. . . Not all the Paseo stores even validate. My girlfriend and I came here for a midnight showing of Cowboys and Aliens. We parked at about 10:45 and not even 5 minutes passed by before a security guard approached us and asked what we were doing. I said we where here for a midnight showing. He checked in with his supervisor an she said, "negative, too early." we were then asked to leave our cars and upstairs. Wow, too early? Parking here can be a struggle, especially when there are events across the street at the Pasadena Civic or Convention Center or when it's a busy time for movies on the weekends or weeknights! Never addresses issues w/ parking pay kiosks. I've been coming to the Paseo for years. Originally it was for the shopping, restaurants & the movie theater. Now it is primarily for the theater since most stores I would shop have closed & there are few restaurants left worth eating at. I still see 2-4 movies a month, but have started going elsewhere (Alhambra, La Canada, iPic in Old Town) due to the parking problems. To keep this review short (too late) I'll summarize the issues: 1) Pay kiosks only work 10-20% of the time. I usually only use cash & seem to have problems almost every time. No matter how often I complain (both to reps in the parking office as well as the phone number of the mgr they provide), nothing changes. This is my main issue. 2) Only some if the exit booths are staffed. And when the pay kiosks are broken (often), lines at the few staffed booths get long. 3) Water leaks on the lower levels can make passage thru some areas impossible. My car has coilovers & I've had too avoid some deep pools often when trying to get around the construction closures (next bullet). 4) On-going construction significantly reduces parking, especially on the lower level. Construction has been ongoing for the past couple of years & you never know what parking areas will be open or closed from visit to visit. I wouldn't have any significant issues IF they would FIX THEIR PAY KIOSKS. But repeated complaints go unaddressed & the people in the parking office have no way to address the issue. Unfortunately, if you're going to see a movie, this is the only covered parking unless you walk from Old Town. My recommendation is to go to another theater as the parking will ALWAYS be easier. read more

This is probably one of the best parking lots I've driven into. Here's the secret to navigate this rat trap. 1) Drive down to the 2nd floor! Don't waste your time sharking around the 1st floor in hopes of catching someone who's leaving. Unless you see a spot right when you pull in, continue on downtown. You're not descending into Hades just the next level. Your lazy butt can take the escalator up. 2) Best store to validate is Macy's. They have the machines (tiny blue box) at counters so no mess, no fuss, no "excuse me, excuse me, can you validate me?" Bam! Two hours free my friend. 3) Take the Green St exit for the quickest way out while your sucker friends try to leave onto Colorado. They'll be green with envy as you wave "bye" while they're stuck behind some bozo who didn't validate. LOL, hasta la vista, baby! read more

All we wanted to do on this Sunday afternoon was go see a movie at the ArcLight Cinema and have dinner afterwards. When we got there, the parking lot was blocked off as it was full due to an event at the Convention Center. We got our money back, for pre-bought cinema tickets and went elsewhere. It'll be a very long time--if ever--before I go back to The Paseo on a weekend. Sadly, the parking situation is going to turn that mall into another graveyard. read more

Love the stores I frequent here, such as DSW, H&M, Brighton, Bath&Body, Victoria Secret, Coldstone, etc. Happy as can be entering in to shop. But as we exit, parking is so much stressful. In example, last Saturday went in and grab and go for the VIP DSW offers, I looked up our time stamp it says 3:31 PM, we left 4:28 PM, clearly we still have 30 mins or so left on the 90 min free parking. However, as were leaving by the Express lane, we placed our ticket in and was gonna charge us. Clearly that's cheating against the 90 min free parking. So, checked and make sure someone is working there before exiting. read more

Negative stars really should be an option. Avoid this parking structure like it has a nasty infection. Validation nets you a whooping 90minutes of parking time and you hit the daily maximum after only 2hrs, 0.1 minutes. They tell you 3 hours, but since any fraction of an hour is counted as an hour it is really just 2 hours. So if you stay for anything longer than 3hr, 30 min your validation is worthless and you are stuck paying full cost. No opportunity to differentiate between customers and mallrats here; everybody pays. read more

You just need to know the area before you park. It's confusing, but I park in a usual area when I do come. You can't be drunk or high when you park because you NEED to know where you park and where you entered. The GELSON'S and the Paseo parking is confusing, but just focus on where you parked and entered. Parking structures need to hire live people to check us out!!! Leaving from the movies and was ready to pay at the ticket machine that was by the escalator but it says "closed" or "out of order". Then didn't mind walking to the next one. I was 3rd in line and the person in front was getting frustrated that the machine was not taking the cash. They tried to use credit card and it was not working either. Then the people in front of me went. Having the same issues. Only this time after they put in their card, the machine says "cancelled". Then after the card was returned the machine says "closed". I decided to leave and noticed that the office was still open. But when I told her none of the machine worked she said to just proceed to the gate and that someone is there and they will take cash or card, it was like she didn't care!. Let's face it, everywhere we go in L.A. we're either being charged ridiculously to park on a public street or stuck with having to resort in valet parking. Paseo Colorado parking? Not too shabby. Located in Pasadena, California on 280 East Colorado Blvd, the outdoor mall is made up of high-end retail stores such as COACH and BCBGMAXAZRIA, beauty spas, a movie theater, and well-known places to grub including The Yardhouse, Islands. P.F. Chang's China Bistro and much more. With the variety of more than 50 shops and restaurants to indulge at, you would expect one huge indoor parking structure that accommodates everyone. At least I did. Paseo Colorado harbors not one, not two, but THREE separate parking garages for visitors. Need I say more? The parking garages are the Paseo Colorado Subterranean Garage, and Marengo Avenue Parking Structure actually surrounds the shopping center conveniently a street away, while Los Robles Avenue Parking Structure is located directly underneath the shopping mall. Efficient for customers and employees, Paseo Colorado fills both voids providing parking benefits for both parties. "When I'm running late or when traffic gets hectic, the last thing I need is the trouble of looking for parking spaces," said Paseo Colorado employee, Karly Monterey. "I've worked in the Paseo mall for three years now, and I haven't yet encountered any difficulties or drama." For visitors, parking is free for the first 60 minutes with the usage of parking validations. I recently found out that Paseo Colorado now offers free validation for everyone (I think 1.5 hours?) Just look for the validation machine at the top of the escalators that leads out to the coach store area. Or, sometimes I just go into loehmanns - the validation machine is by the register, and you can validate yourself. No one will question it. But if you really feel bad, you can pretend to look around. This Loehmanns really sucks though...but I'll save that for a different review. read more

WARNING: BEWARE OF THE PARKING AT PASEO COLORADO. BE AFRAID. BE VERY AFRAID! This is the most disorganized parking system I've ever had the misfortune to experience. There are no signs indicating which structure to use for specific merchants. The structure has no human attendants to help. The instructions tell you to pay before you leave, but there's nothing that tells you to put your paid ticket in the exit booth so you can get out this automotive prison. I met friends for dinner at P.F. Changs. I had no trouble finding a parking space, but it turned out that I was parked at the point the farthest away from the restaurant and I had to walk the length of the center to meet my friends. By the time I hiked back to my car after dinner and found one of the auto-pay machines, I had been there for 2 hours and 3 minutes. The restaurant validation gave me 90 minutes, but it still cost me $3.00 for the extra 33 minutes. (It's $1.50 for each additional 30 minutes - NO grace period!) I certainly won't go back to Paseo Colorado again. No wonder Border Grille moved out. I noticed that one of the book stores is closing and moving to Long Beach. I wonder if it's the economy or the fact the parking is so bad that most locals won't bother and most visitors won't ever go back! I agree with Megan T. A horrible experience with a simple thing like parking, will keep me away from dining here!! The machine where you check your ticket was out of order. I told the attendant at the gate that, and showed him my receipt of the restaurant. He had a pile of cash out counting it. If the machine would have worked and told me what was needed, I would have taken care of it before I got in the car. He called a brutal and rude manager woman on duty. 8:00 pm on 5-13-19. I told her I was not there more than 60 minutes and showed my receipt. I asked to go back and get the validation. She refused and took my license down to give to the City. The experience was not worth my business at the Paseo, and I'm was born in Pasadena and am active in the community for 40 years! read more

If it were possible to leave zero stars I would. We live nearby and probably come here once a week, All entrance lanes are never in order which means it's a constant cluster to merge into a single lane to get in the garage. What's probably worse, however, is the fact that even if you validate your parking, there's a 50/50 shot it will "work" and you'll either find yourself at an automatic exit having to pay (when you shouldn't have to) or fighting with the cashier. And speaking of which, for a large place like Paseo, it's appalling that the parking attendants are required to manually calculate the parking time/cost and 90% of the time, they're wrong. Why isn't this automated at the exits like it is at the machines in the garage? This unnecessarily creates long exit lanes. I kept hoping it was temporary but we've now lived in the area three years and it's never better. Unfortunately, Modern Parking doesn't appear to have any interest in resolving the issue since it only gets worse. read more

Oh my God this has got to be the worse parking lot in the so cal area. First of all to get in from Colorado either going west or east it is a bitch, especially on a Friday or Saturday night. Second once you get in you either wait cause the person in front of you is waiting to get the spot in front of you or they don't know where to go. Second the flow of this lot is odd is the best to describe. So once you find a way to get a spot getting out of this labyrinth is a challenge. Then the express pay in the structure sucks because it is kind of hard to use I had to play a guessing game how to insert my credit card in. To get out is also part of the challenge cause you will get stuck behind someone who is waiting for a parking spot. The only reason I gave this place a 1 star is because it is well lit. read more

This is the most frustratingly designed parking lot. It's on one single level but covers multiple city blocks so you might end up far from your intended destination. There's no clue as to where the free spaces are. We once missed seeing The Lego Movie; we got to the lot early, drove around for so long without finding a spot that the movie started and we had been there so long looking that we even had to pay on the way out! I want to thank the Paseo Colorado Parking Management for their kindness and support during my recent visit. I arranged a birthday dinner for my brother at PF Chiang's. My niece was experiencing some heat exhaustion and so I left with her to my car. It was a hot summer evening and the garage was very warm, and I forgot the exact location of my car. The kind parking manager let my niece and nephew rest inside and he took me to my car. It seemed close enough to the restaurant, and so I ran upstairs to pack up the remaining food and get the rest of the family. When we returned to pick up my niece from the parking office, the parking manager had contacted the paramedics as she took a turn for the worse. The parking office managed everything, and the paramedics were so professional and helpful. Special thanks to Haddid for reassuring my niece and nephew as she was transported to the hospital. The parking manager even waived the parking fee. I just want to let the Paseo Colorado Parking Management know how much my family and I appreciate you and the Pasadena Fire and Rescue for your help during that difficult time.
