We are the type of members who always take great care of the staff and rarely leave without purchasing extra bottles, yet today we were treated like an inconvenience. ​Despite being told in the past that spontaneous visits were no problem for members, we were turned away on a gloomy Monday with plenty of open tables. The host at the entrance was incredibly dismissive and wouldn't even let us finish our sentence before cutting us off. We were told our only options were to come back in an hour, a "limited" tasting, drive all the way downtown, or just pick up our shipment and leave. ​We asked for the Wine Club Manager to resolve the situation, but she wasn't on-site. To be offered a "partial" tasting as a favor after nearly ten years of support was the final straw. It feels as though they now prioritize "closing" new members over honoring the people who have supported them for years. They've gone mainstream and lost the personal touch that made them special.

Wine Boss has a great selection of wines, including the Pepper label. This place is a fun wine bar to hang out at on a Friday night. The customer service is exceptional, we felt like family in a low key environment. I ended up purchasing two bottles, rose and Cabernet Sauvignon and came up on a Wine Boss glass! At first, my wife and her friend were a bit unsure as they reviewed the menu, as they didn't immediately see options that appealed to them. However, that quickly changed. Our friend ordered the asparagus salad and croquettes, while my wife chose the rosemary garlic grilled prawns and roasted heirloom carrots. Both dishes completely exceeded expectations--they were blown away by how flavorful and well-prepared everything was. Over the course of our trip, we visited many wineries and enjoyed several excellent meals throughout the Central Coast. We loved the spell and got 3 bottles of that! It's a Syrah cab blend. Has the Paso flavor that we love. It's not a vineyard, just a tasting room but worth a visit. We met the wine maker too. While both pizzas were quite good, the margherita was the winner for both of us. The crust on the Nduja reigned superior though, as it stayed nice and crispy for the whole meal. We then marched our way to Guiseppe's and sat outside in the back and heard about the restored building and new home for this fine Italian restaurant. Amazing. Butternut squash filled raviolis with a creamy white sauce paired with some bread and Artisan Mineral Water from Italy had us all oooing and ahhhing. We then walked alongside the creek and made our way to the Old San Luis Bbq Company and had a taste of their Santa Maria Style bbq: chicken, tri-tip, and pulled pork with some beans, bread and corn pie with a kick to it.
