There's a few nice restaurants all walking distance from each other as well as simple eats. Also scattered, a couple of tasting rooms. You have the main square where the park is located right in the middle of town. Seems to be where all the holiday events take place. Just miles from downtown, you'll enter all the wineries and vineyard. They're normally all along the same road just miles from each other. Pretty much all the vineyard offers amazing wine. The properties are spectacular with hills and hills of vineyards. There's so many to choose from that a day isn't enough. Make a weekend out of it. If your looking for a place to stay, loads of cute boutiques hotel and Airbnb. It's a cute town that's off the 101 that's a must if you're a wine lover.

I enjoyed learning about the Austin Hope winery and its origins. I felt like they grew in popularity quickly and threw up some barns to accommodate the crowds. For example, the bathroom wasn't well constructed as when people slammed the door shut, the walls shook. I can't imagine how the walls would shake if someone had a blowout here. Even with some of the downfalls, this was my favorite winery and I wish I could get some of the wines without joining the club. The commitment is too much and shipping is also high, so it's not worth it. The GSM was my favorite and if I ever see it somewhere, Ima get me some!

We are the type of members who always take great care of the staff and rarely leave without purchasing extra bottles, yet today we were treated like an inconvenience. ​Despite being told in the past that spontaneous visits were no problem for members, we were turned away on a gloomy Monday with plenty of open tables. The host at the entrance was incredibly dismissive and wouldn't even let us finish our sentence before cutting us off. We were told our only options were to come back in an hour, a "limited" tasting, drive all the way downtown, or just pick up our shipment and leave. ​We asked for the Wine Club Manager to resolve the situation, but she wasn't on-site. To be offered a "partial" tasting as a favor after nearly ten years of support was the final straw. It feels as though they now prioritize "closing" new members over honoring the people who have supported them for years. They've gone mainstream and lost the personal touch that made them special.

Every single dish was beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. It's hard to pick a favorite because they were all outstanding. The cocktails deserve a special mention because they were an experience all on their own. We ordered the whiskey-forward cocktails, with one arriving in a smoke-filled box and the other presented in a lit, smoke-filled chest. A much more comfortable option. We had a trainee waiter (Julio) and his supervisor Lalo ( I think that's his name). They had quite a list of specials the poor guy had to recite! He did a great job. The food was really good and portions were generous. We had Linguine ai muscoli di Mare e porri (withshrimp, scallops, clams and mussels) in a white wine sauce -I asked for the cream to be omitted. We loved the spell and got 3 bottles of that! It's a Syrah cab blend. Has the Paso flavor that we love. It's not a vineyard, just a tasting room but worth a visit. We met the wine maker too. Our server greeted us, and we ordered a round of drinks as a small loaf of crusty bread was served with an olive oil and balsamic dipping sauce. Our drinks arrived and we were ready to order. For antipasti, we chose the Caprese Salad and Carpaccio di Tartufo. For primi, we went with the daily sea bass special and Agnolotti di Mais. The presentation on all the food was excellent. The salad was super fresh, with wonderfully flavorful tomatoes. The carpaccio was thinly sliced, with a nice sauce and shaved truffle. When the sea bass arrived at the table, it looked dry to me, but the inside was quite moist and full of flavor. The agnolotti was rich, with a great use of sweet corn, truffle, and pecorino Romano. All in all, a wonderful dining experience. We ordered cannoli to go before settling up the bill and heading out. Would love to return at some point.

Instead of being seated, we were told to come back in 20 minutes. When we returned, we were then told it would be another 25 minutes. At that point, it became clear that the reservation system meant very little. What made the situation worse was the lack of any proper waiting area. There was no lobby, no comfortable place to stand, and no bar seating available while guests waited. The dining room also looked extremely crowded, with tables placed very close together, which did not create a relaxing or upscale dining atmosphere. The front-desk experience was also poor. The host seemed very young and inexperienced, and there was little sense of professionalism, apology, or customer service. When a restaurant is running that far behind, especially for guests with a reservation, the staff should be trained to communicate clearly, apologize properly, and offer some kind of solution. For a restaurant that presents itself as a nice Paso Robles dining destination, the experience felt disorganized, overcrowded, and poorly managed. Making a reservation weeks ahead should mean something. Instead, we were left waiting with no real hospitality and no confidence that we would be seated anytime soon. Unfortunately, we left very disappointed. Based on this experience, I would not recommend Il Cortile Ristorante, especially if you are planning a special dinner, visiting from out of town, or relying on a reservation.

We met at Mama Ganache Artisan Chocolates where met the people in our group and our guide, Yule. We sampled some amazing chocolates and heard about why chocolate is so good for you in moderation. We moved onto Jaffa Cafe and had a choice of gyro, chicken, or veggies. The garlic paste, hummus, and pita bread along with the salsa bar were so delish. We then marched our way to Guiseppe's and sat outside in the back and heard about the restored building and new home for this fine Italian restaurant. Amazing. Butternut squash filled raviolis with a creamy white sauce paired with some bread and Artisan Mineral Water from Italy had us all oooing and ahhhing. We then walked alongside the creek and made our way to the Old San Luis Bbq Company and had a taste of their Santa Maria Style bbq: chicken, tri-tip, and pulled pork with some beans, bread and corn pie with a kick to it. Yule asked us if we wanted our dessert to go and we all agreed. He left and brought back some cheesecake and some blondie brownies. We were so stuffed than many put their desserts with their bbq. Yule is a very nice gentlemen from the Ukraine and he was full of info about the history of the city (of San Luis Obispo), the restaurants, the old buildings, the Mission and the food, wine, and olive oil.
