Visiting Paso Robles for a quick getaway so we did not make reservations ahead of time. However, we called on our way to Paso and was able to snag a dinner reservation. They only had outdoor seating for the time we wanted to dine. Which worked out great for us. There's a heater outside so we were warm seating outside on this windy day. I think this was a better deal as the tables inside were very cramped/close together. There's just enough room to get by between tables! Out side we had a nice table and able to spread out a little. A much more comfortable option. We had a trainee waiter (Julio) and his supervisor Lalo ( I think that's his name). They had quite a list of specials the poor guy had to recite! He did a great job. The food was really good and portions were generous. We had Linguine ai muscoli di Mare e porri (withshrimp, scallops, clams and mussels) in a white wine sauce -I asked for the cream to be omitted. We also had the Orecchiette con rapine e luganega. Delicious and very generous portion We were stuffed and had to decline dessert. Definitely will come back again. read more

Great service and great food. I made reservations for Saturday for my anniversary. It's a small place with an even smaller bar. They brought out bread and we ordered drinks which came out quickly. I also ordered their soup of the day, which I forgot to take a picture of. It was like a chicken and noodle soup with a dash of tomato. Probably one of the best soups I've had. I wish my risotto was cooks just a little longer, some of the rice were hard to chew. I also was a little disappointed in their tiramisu. We could not get a reservation here for this past Saturday so we arrived at opening around 5:30. We were able to get a table but were told that we could only have it till 7. Which is pretty reasonable to me. From beginning to end service was perfection. The complimentary focaccia and olive tapenade is absolutely to die for. I will be thinking about his for years to come. We ordered the Pappardelle alla San Pietro- so good, generous amount of shrimp Linguine ai muscoli di mare e porri- made perfectly not too greasy Special of the Day pasta - cannot remember the name but my daughter did not love it, it was definitely a different flavor than anything we have ever had, and I'm glad she tried something new. This was one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences we had in Paso Robles. The host, Leslie, was extremely unpleasant and seemed to have no understanding of how to properly greet or welcome guests. We had made a reservation in advance and had specifically called to request a table away from the kitchen. Despite that, when we arrived, we were offered a table right next to/in the kitchen. We spoke with the supervisor, Gierado, hoping he could help accommodate a request that had been made ahead of time. Unfortunately, he was not helpful or accommodating at all. The attitude was essentially, "There is nothing we can do," which made us feel like we were being told to leave rather than treated as valued guests. What makes this even more disappointing is that we had previously found the food to be okay--not particularly impressive Italian cuisine--but we still decided to give the restaurant another try and had specifically called ahead to avoid exactly this situation. The way guests are treated can completely change an otherwise enjoyable trip, and unfortunately, this experience negatively affected our impression of Paso Robles dining. I would not recommend this restaurant. If you are visiting Paso Robles and looking for a pleasant dining experience, I would choose somewhere else. read more

We wanted to have a party of 6, but online the website limited us to 5. We called a couple of hours before to confirm and add the 6th person, but were told they could not accommodate 6 people, unless we had called much earlier to guarantee the table by providing a credit card number to hold the reservation. This was not at all clear until it was too late, so we went somewhere else. My advice is to verify your reservation is confirmed for the correct number of people well before you visit. This was our second visit, and I would definitely return! Our server was lovely, and service is very attentive. They are waking by nonchalantly and ensuring you have what you need. My water glass never got the half way mark. The food is delish. Love the olive tampenade served with the bread. Hubby's steak was cooked a little unevenly, but he devoured it. (My sample bite was great!) Loved the veg that came with it, and he loved his mashed potatoes. I had the papparadelle with shrimp. The sauce was divine, the pasta was cooked perfectly, and the shrimp were great. The restaurant is small and it can feel a little claustrophobic at times. Several servers bumped into my chair a few times trying to get around. And the front house stuff got a little over anxious to speed our departure, even though hubby was finishing his wine. It was clear this place was loved by locals. The restaurant was packed by around 5:30pm on a weekday. We tried the penne arrabbiata (spicy indeed!) and linguine muscoli which were both delicious. The lattughette novel salad (baby lettuce, which was basically mixed greens from a grocery bag) was underwhelming. It did have some fennel as a garnish on the top, but based on the overall menu, ambiance and class of the restaurant, I was expecting a more creative and crafted salad, not something I'd get at a diner. I'd recommend you try another salad not this one, unless you really love a basic mixed greens. In the couple hours we observed our surroundings, it seemed like the servers knew some of the people who were probably locals, as they spoke and chatted with them in a more friendly manner. I chose the linguine with seafood as my entree. Unfortunately the order got put in incorrectly and I received the wrong entree. This happens, I understand! And my entree was generously comped. However the scallops had no sear, the sauce had no depth and I had asked for no shrimp and sure enough, I was staring at shrimp. I tried the tortiglioni del bun gustaio which is pasta with braised eggplant and the eggplant was waaay undercooked. The other meals were not memorable. This place hit. After a day of wine tasting we were craving carbs and multiple hosts had recommended Buoma Tavola I got the papardelle Alla San Pietro and my partners got the tortelloni bufalino. The papardelle sauce was luxurious and creamy and flavorful. There was a ton of shrimp! The tortelloni was stuffed with veal and the pasta itself was extremely thin. It reminded me on wontons, and was some of the best tortellini I have eaten. We also got the insalata di gamberi e capesante. Tons of shrimp and two pieces of scallops. All the food here was great and the olive tampenade was fabulous! Super fresh and not too briny. You definitely need a reservation here. We called and tried to see if we could be seated early and the front desks girls told us know but when we showed up in person the bar is first come first serve.
