We recently visited this Passage to India for an adult evening out, but the experience didn't quite meet expectations. After waiting 18 minutes to be served, I had to go to the bar myself to order drinks. Thankfully, they offered double shots of tequila and Long Island iced teas, which helped make the night more tolerable. We ordered five curries to share, but to be honest, most of them tasted very similar (except for the chicken korma which is topped with almonds). The grouper was overcooked, though the beef and lamb were tender and flavorful. We didn't get much of an introduction to the dishes, which would have been nice. The highlight of the meal was the naan bread. We tried four different kinds, and the chili naan stood out as fresh, spicy, and absolutely delicious. While we skipped dessert, the aroma of Indian cuisine as you walk in is inviting. Our favorite dishes are the Lamb Rogan Josh, Chicken Madras, Chicken Korma, and their naan bread is superb. The chili naan is super spicy, which we love. And the garlic one is amazing too. I think this is one of the best Indian restaurants I've been to, and I've been to a lot! They say the style of food is "Bangladesh", but many of my favorite Indian dishes are in the menu. The korma chicken is so flavorful and delicious, and the mattar paneer has huge chunks of paneer and the freshest of peas. But my top pick is the paratha bread, which was nothing short of outstanding. Skip the naan and get paratha... not all Indian restaurants serve it, and this one is a show stopper. SO VERY DELICIOUS! We were so hungry, we dove in with no pics, but our table was just full of foods! Hubby and I ordered Chicken Malaee and Chicken Korma and they were so good. We both favored the Malaee, however, its hard to pick. Korma might have been a tad spicier over the Malaee, it I'm wimpy and had no issue with either. Quantity and sauce ratio were spot on. Got a nice amount with the right amount of sauce (not a bunch of sauce with a little meat). In our home area, most Indian restaurants require you to order rice separately, but it comes with the meals here, so we only ordered the dish and some naan. Clean: the whole.e place is spotless AND they have a glass wall that lets you see the whole kitchen, so obviously they are confident in their methods. Friendly: our hostess was Nadia (that may not be the correct spell). She was just so warm, friendly, and helpful. But as we left, another woman also waved and thanks us for coming. Nice folks. Naan: some folks mention no buttered, but ours came lightly buttered and perfectly made. We're only in town a few days and bummed we have to wait until our next visit to go again! read more

Not sure why they don't have a better rating but I don't think there was anything I was unhappy with and I'm pretty picky. The one thing I would say is I ordered saag paneer and the saag wasn't blended but they said that because it's Bengali style. The flavor was very good and the paneer as well. The garlic naan had little chunks of garlic in it and cilantro rather than the typical minced garlic. Loved the slightly salted ghee they use on the naan. I have been to all the other Indian restaurants in Swfl and this might be my favorite. The tables have glass tops which makes it a little loud but clean up easier maybe. Rice had a good cumin smell but couldn't really taste it. Staff was very nice and pretty. read more

Very close to a 4! This is Solid Indian food, offers great service and an overall nice spot. The place is well decorated, clean and overall in a convenient spot for me. The hostess which was also our waitress did a fine job. I ordered samosas to start, since I was starving. I've had samosas before at many Indian places, these were a different version. They were like small fried empanada/dumpling type things. They were tasty, filled with the usual potato and peas. I enjoyed it. They serve them with 3 sauces. One is an extremely delicious, minced green chili in vinegar. Just so yummy, I wanted to put it on everything. The tamarind salsa was decent, and the onions in the tomato sauce was also not bad. Anyway, for entrees I had the panir makni, which is basically the butter chicken but instead of chicken they serve it with these yummy cheese cubes. This was pretty good, I enjoyed it. The rice is excellent, they have the long grain rice that is cooked expertly. Naan was a bit thicker than I am uses to, i like it thinner and crispier but that aside it was the perfect companion and great tool for scooping! This place has good food, the service was outstanding for the most part and the price is average. Portions are shareable. Extra rice is $2 I will keep looking for other places but this place kicked my journey off well. Check it out for yourself! read more

We have eaten here several times before mainly for the nice Lamb Rack dinner. It used to be a huge portion actually waitress said many peop[le share 1 order. We ordered last evening to go and have at our home withoupt the season hassle. When we opened up the Lamb Dinner it was a JOKE!! I have never seen such Small Chops in my life! Had to be from a newly born Lamb! There were 5 Super Small Chops that was not enough for 1 person. The price also is way more this year, and chops are Micro Chops. NEVER AGAIN THERE!!! I order fairly regularly from Passage to India. This is my usual go to place for Indian food in Naples. I'll never order from there, again. Not just because of the food but because of their management. The food quality has definitely gone downhill. We ordered several different dishes and they were basically indistinguishable in flavor. Saag Chicken was watery and bland. Garlic naan taste exactly like regular naan. It is as if the staff doesn't care about the restaurant and food anymore. Sad. I just received my delivery order through GrubHub. It was a large order but missing ALL the appetizers. I called the restaurant and talked to the manager. She said that they packed it all and suggested the driver must have stolen my apps . We received 2 full bags of food stapled closed with a receipt that said "2 bags". There was no room in the bags for the appetizers. The restaurant confirmed the order was in only two bags. The manager refused to take any responsibility or even apologize for the mix up. The icing on the cake was that after she said that GrubHub drivers steal food "all the time"...she hung up on me. There are plenty of other local restaurants that appreciate their customers...I will take my future business elsewhere. read more

Zero star review: This is the worst Indian / Bangladeshi restaurants I have ever been to in USA. I am Bangladeshi and I love to eat and cook Bangladeshi cuisine. This place's name is Passage to India - Taste of Bangladesh. However I couldn't find a single Bangladeshi dish in the menu. When I asked about their Bangladeshi items to the waitress, she said 'All our foods are Bangladeshi'. This is such a misleading and fraudulent information! First of all Indian cuisine and Bangladeshi cuisine are not at all same even if a chef uses the same spices. The tastes are completely different for both the cuisines. If they have all Bangladeshi items in the menu, then there is no Indian items in the menu and vice versa. But in reality all the items are Indian but not Bangladeshi. So using the name as Taste of Bangladesh is ridiculous here! Secondly, the prices are at least $6 - $7 higher than any other very good Indian restaurants where the food was better than here. In the menu they say, if you want a sharing plate for any item, you have to pay $5 for it. By paying $5, you can purchase five of those plates from a store. This place is ridiculous. For some cut onion pieces they charge you $2. Are you kidding me? I ordered Chicken biryani. That was not a Indian chicken biryany nor a Bangladeshi chicken biryani. On top of all the servers were not friendly, not willing to happily answer questions about food. They seemed quite rude, not knowledgeable about the food they serve. Such a wastage of money and time. I just did not leave the place without eating not to be rude. We will never go back again to waste money! read more

Craving Indian food comes at weird times for me lol and I must say being in a whole other state made it harder. Yelp brought me to the only Indian restaurant with a decent rating in the area. When we arrived on a Friday night the PLACE-WAS-PACKED. I couldn't believe it! I have never seen an Indian restaurant so packed (and not with Indians! lol) We got an order of samosa (one veg one meat). The meat samosa reminded me of my great aunt's meat puff pastry that I had as a child. Classic. For dinner I ordered the chicken vindaloo which came in a spicy curry. If you need comparison for how spicy it was, it had a whole habanero pepper stewing in the curry. I can handle the heat, but I will warn you anything in the vindaloo section of their menu is not for the faint of heart. Also ordered the chicken korma ("medium spicy") but it wasn't what I believed to be medium-spicy. I will say though it was fine as the vindaloo was really spicy so this chicken dish cut the heat. All entreé dishes come with white fried rice. We also ordered some plain naan which was soft and not rubbery (that means it was not frozen). Service was good as well. We ordered our food, 30 minutes later (when the food should've been out ), we are told they ran out of whatever we ordered. We ordered something else and waited 2 hours for the food to come. A bunch of people that came after us received their food before us. It seemed like they forgot about our order. After bringing it up them, they told us our food will be brought in "10 minutes". The food came and my husband went to take his first bite and a long piece of black hair was in his lamb dish. Waited so long and then having that happen, I didn't even have an appetite anymore. Restaurant called Passage to India, The Taste of Bangladesh. So, right off you know this is not a traditional Indian restaurant in the US, run by Hindus or Sikhs. Owners are probably Muslims. Their religion does not matter to me except to tell you to look under "lamb dishes" to see that all of these (lamb dansak, lamb sag, etc.) can be ordered with BEEF instead of lamb. Well, Americans love their beef! Another thing that is very unusual for an Indian restaurant is that they do not give you papadum with sauces (you can buy it for $2.50). Food is good, certainly far from great. Service is OK. We have eaten here about once a year simply to have Indian food. Recently, had samosa appetizers, lamb korma, sag punir, and a carafe of red wine. Prices and portions were adequate. We have eaten in many Indian restaurants in India, England, New Jersey, New York, etc. and this one is just OK, nothing remarkable. read more

Honestly, the food is neither Indian style and obviously not even single bit close to Bangladeshi taste. We ordered the chicken biriyani and what came is the worst tasting biriyani I have ever had. Plus it had few boneless pieces of chicken and they charge $19 for this crap. We have had way better biriyani with much less amount of money. This item didn't even taste like biriyani, the chicken and the rice tasted separate - not as a wholesome. We asked multiple times before ordering if the food is from Bangladesh or which items are from Bangladesh since the names of the items looked similar to the ones listed in most Indian restaurants. The servers answered repeatedly that the food would taste different than most other Indian restaurants since it would be cooked with Bangladeshi spices. Honestly, the item came out to be neither close to Bangladeshi nor Indian. They are running a pricey restaurant with fraudulent information about taste and spices of Bangladesh. Our server was so pleasant, there were six of us and we all had so many questions about the food. All questions were answered with patience and friendliness. I don't understand the negative reviews. We've eaten at Indian restaurants around the world and this is easily in our top five. The flavors are layered, subtle, and each dish has a distinct profile. The chef's chicken is always tender and flavorful - so much better than many places that throw overcooked chunks in a sauce and call it a day. If I could give this place 0 stars i would. Their protocols for COVID Are good. But when you have 6:30 reservation and wait a hour just for an appetizer it's a waste of time. Individuals where having problems with their take out orders as well. At 7:30 i was told my order would be another 20 minutes. I've been craving good Indian food for a while! There are not many places around where one can find that. When we visited Passage to India we found just what we've been craving! Delicious Indian food. We ordered the sea bass tikki masala, cauliflower side dish and punir. I was happy to hear the sea bass was wild and not farmed. We didn't stop there, we also had a sweet treat to end our experience. Rice pudding and mango ice cream were the cherry on top! We loved our experience, from the service, to the food, and the delicious leftovers we got to enjoy at home! Can't wait until the next visit. :) Update: tried making a take-out order at 8 pm on a Saturday night and whoever answered the phone told me he was too busy to do a takeout order and to call back at 9 pm. I drove over there to place the order in person at 8:45 pm and they turned me down saying the food wouldn't be ready till 10pm. Super annoyed that I wasn't able to place an order at either times, especially because they weren't that overwhelming busy. It was crazy to me that they were ok with losing a customer. Only been once but I loved it. Had the lamb shank vindaloo, which was tender and delicious, though not nearly as spicy as many other places. Saag paneer, which was sweet and so good. Garlic naan, which was stuffed generously with garlic. Most places will just top the naan with garlic and butter but I MUCH prefer it this way. Also loved the raita, which was thicker than other places, and with more veggies. Tried an Indian lager (Taj Mahal?) as well and it was perfect with all the food. All in all, I'd rather drive further to go here than go somewhere more convenient. read more
