Great food and service. Cool covered outdoor seating area which was less noisy that inside the restaurant. The bucatini carbonara was simply outstanding. Pasta cooked perfectly al dente, duck egg properly folded in, perfectly rendered guanciale, and perfectly seasoned with black pepper and pecorino ... yes, that's 3 perfects in one dish. My husband and I both had it ... and we ordered one to go for the next day. Local asparagus with parmesan was also very good (though there were a couple of pieces that had woody stems). The tiramisu is to die for ... not a whipped cream bomb that many restaurants try to pass off as tiramisu ... rather, creamy and light mascarpone, goldlilocks soaked lady fingers (not too soggy and not too dry, just right), espresso, and what tasted like a hint of amaretto. Atmosphere: The ambiance was interesting and beautiful during the day, but as soon as the sun set, the restaurant outside did not have enough light to see the dishes or much of anything else. Food: Once we ordered, we waited over an hour for the main dishes to arrive. The dishes were good, the pasta was al dente and the sauce was good, but it wasn't worth the hour wait. I ordered a drink whos ingredients were out of stock, which would be fine has we been informed prior. The lack of communication as well as the long wait combined into a frustrating combination. Overall, the long reservation list wasn't worth the wait. While the food was good, don't come here expecting prompt service. The prices don't justify the outputs, but your results may vary on a non-holiday weekend. read more

I would give this restaurant more than five stars if I could! Everything from the cocktails to the dessert was amazing! I dined with a party of six, everyone ordered a different cocktail and raved about all of them! I really don't think you could go wrong with anything you ordered. The ambiance of this place is amazing! While our waitress was nice she was a bit interesting. I ordered the pickled vegetables and it was only asparagus. The asparagus was delicious! I can eat those any day of the week. The pasta dish was a total disappointment! When they sat the dish down it looked amazing only it was mediocre at best. The pasta was undercooked and had almost no flavor. I was hoping for more b/c of the mushrooms however I was wrong. I was sad b/c I didn't see anything else on the menu I wanted to try or could as a vegetarian. Two other people ordered this same dish and we were all disappointed. We tried each other's dish to see if one was better than the other and well... I'm not sure I would come back here. read more

With reservations in the dining room our party of 4 was seated in space with no ambiance and no other tables or windows at a table for 10. Many tables were open but the host and server would not move us. Unfortunately I spilled my wine and was charged for a replacement which is highly unusual, I have worked in hospitality for 39 years. Finally, our server offered a dessert because it was my birthday. She charged for that as well. The food was an 7 out of 10. Polpo was fresh but overcooked (well its bitter and I wasn't so sure if they do that on purpose so I didn't seek for help) and the Cavatelli was very good (the tenderness of the pasta was just on the right scale)! I'm not always game for fancy Italian food, but this was a special occasion. Four of us ordered a few dishes to share family-style. The beet appetizer was tasty, wii goat cheese and pesto, but it was honestly too small to share between four people. We ordered two pasta dishes. The papardelle were served with tomato sauce and veal, and it was lovely. The bucatini with carbonara and guanciale was great as well, though a little short on pork. For our final course, we split the 32 ounce steak. My greatest regret of the meal is not taking a picture of it. It was served medium rare at our request, seared, well marbled with salt and pepper. It was served with a salsa verde on the side that I didn't feel added too much. The food was about $50 each after tax and tip, which was pretty reasonable for the quality of the meal. We weren't stuffed but we didn't leave hungry either. I would go back for another special occasion, but I don't think it will ever be my go-to. read more

We ordered the carbonara pasta that was fantastic which we enjoyed with the house red wine. Have been here every time we come to Walla Walla and it never disappoints. Tonight I had the Strawberry Fields cocktail, so good! It still has the bitterness of a Negroni but is nicely balanced with the strawberry-infused Campari. For dinner I had the Taglierini saffron pasta with bottarga and Dungeness crab. The pasta had a ton of crab and the bottarga was not at all overpowering, a delicious pasta. Wish we could have had room for dessert. read more

I asked if the bar was first come first serve. They said yes but a couple ppl were ahead of us. So.. thrown off by that I asked - so you're keeping a list for the bar? And she said no - it's first come first serve. Okay? But you said there were a couple ppl ahead? So can I add to that? No. First come first serve. Decided to Ignore that and walked to the bar area. Figured we grab a drink and wait for a spot. As soon as we walked near the bar a woman approached us and asked if we had been checked in. We said yea, just going to wait for the bar and get a drink. She immediately told us we weren't allowed to wait and ushered us back to the front door. Where you cannot see the bar... if anyone leaves the bar etc and where I felt I could not even get a drink while i waited?! All super confusing. Overly pretentious for Walla walla and I guess they don't want the bartenders to make any money. Wont be back. read more

Passatempo had been mentioned by several locals including several in the wine business who were clearly foodies. We didn't initially plan to visit because we felt like something other than Italian. Fate intervened and we found ourselves there anyway. We got lucky! Since our plans changed last minute, we walked into Passatempo without reservations. The hostess was friendly and arranged for additional seating at the bar for us (the place was packed). The bartender and a waitress took care of us that evening and the bar tender had an amazing knowledge of cocktails and spirits, especially Amaros and Fernets, and helped design a custom tasting of Amaros for us. Passatempo is Jim German's new restaurant in downtown Walla Walla. We ordered two sidecars from Audra, the bar manager. They were excellent! We ordered the Bistecca and the Bucatini. Both were very good, but mine was better for sure. The steak was awesome, but the char was a little heavy for my taste. The dessert was SO GOOD. Visited this restaurant with my wife on our anniversary and found ourselves trapped! Perhaps one of the worst experiences in recent memory (and this takes into consideration small town dining challenges, which I am totally empathetic towards). Made a reservation weeks in advance with a note that we are celebrating our anniversary, and also that my wife is gluten intolerant. Neither were acknowledged during our visit. Not a big deal about the GF, but maybe the hostess at least could've said 'happy anniversary' instead of 'your table still has the previous party so you're sitting next to the bar'? Not a huge deal I suppose... unless you finally place your order and don't see your appetizers until 30 minutes later (which they got wrong), and your entrées 60 minutes after that. We totally approached the situation as sympathetic to what could be a result of pandemic dining, but noticed other tables around us were getting served without much issue or wait. Our server was on the apologetic side, even comp'd two glasses of wine, but she was very awkward and seemed to mostly want to wrap things up and get us out of there (it was, after all, getting very late). Oh my heavens, what a night! I'm always game for homemade pasta - I don't understand why ALL Italian restaurants don't do this! Anyway, the three of us wound up sharing the bolognese, gnocchi, and a few other pasta dishes. All were incredible and I would have taken photos but the food disappeared before I could get out my phone! The service was unmatched. Our table started with three guests and by the time we left, there was easily 7 or 8 additional people. Our waiter was patient and flexible, always willing to open another bottle of wine, find chairs, push together another table. He was fantastic (and deserves a raise after what we put him through)! We had a great time. I don't know why people aren't just flocking towards this place, but trust that the food and people are worth it. We have been twice. The food is 5 Star and I crave their pasta after wine tasting. You just want some good carbs and fat! This pasta is better than just good carbs and fat though. It's fantastic and delicious and every bite was, oh so yummy. I gave it 3 stars because of the snobby weight staff. First time we went was good, second time they were odd and and made us feel so unwelcome. We could hear the weight staff because he was so quiet and stood so far away, I kept leaning in and asking him to step up. And we didn't get much attention. WOW!!! Fantastic restaurant with a fun and colorful vibe. The food is fantastic, everything fresh and obviously made from scratch, the pizza dough was some of the best I've had. Margherita pizzas can be basic but this one was bursting with flavor and distinction. On top of it all I think my girlfriends and I tried almost every cocktail on the menu and every single one hit the mark. The head bartender "Kate" (spelling?) was INCREDIBLE!!!
