However, it doesn't matter what the level of talent one has, I will not do business with someone who wastes my time. It's a NO for me. Update... I am happy how it turned out. But only a few things…read more.. 1. My appointment was made with Toni. When I arrived Toni said she knew my appointment was with her but that was before she knew Ali would be available. Um I'm ok with that. I had researched Toni and her salon not Ali but still I'm good. 2. I mention to Toni that I had looked up her work and her salon on Instagram and Yelp. I had noticed a deal offered by Yelp but Toni said that she has been trying to get Yelp to take down that deal it was $65 voucher for $75 service value. But she assured me I was getting a better deal. Um again ok. 3. So Ali chats with me about what I am looking for with color. We discuss and look for some colors on Pinterest. We settle on this brownish with what looked like more on the reddish auburn towards the ends. And a cut to add some volume to my naturally curly and very fine thin hair. We are good! I'm ready. Lets do this. Ali goes off to mix my color. 4. So the last one was I was told by Toni When I stopped in on Friday the services would be $95 for color and the deal was for first time customers the $55 cut was included. BUT once in the chair Ali returned to inform me although Toni quoted me $95 the type of coloring we discussed and I agreed it was what I wanted to go for was more of a painting technique and the price would actually be $135! WOW I was a little stunned but I agree to the $40 increase. Plus I left a $35 tip when I was done. 5. The end result not quite what I was expecting but still better than the way I walked in. I've got to give it a few days and we will see how it fades out. NOTE: Ali gave me the warm fuzzies and made me feel amazing. I know I am an unusual hair customer. It always seems anyone trying to dry and style my hair struggles because it never quite reacts the way it should in their experience and knowledge. All this being said I am coming back in six weeks and we will see where we are when I return for maintenance. In a few days I will take some new pics. See what a few days and a wash does ------ edited review So excited. Toni is going to be doing my new color and cut. I will update with before and after pics. Took before pics already. So here we go.

My review only speaks to her services for wedding day hair - I'm not local so I'm not familiar with her salon. Here's my experience with independent hair stylists GENERALLY - they're kind of flaky. If you're trying to book an individual stylist for a special occasion, such as a WEDDING, it's sort of a crap shoot whether or not your phone call gets returned (or your email gets answered). I have a theory that there's little overlap between the qualities that make a good stylist and the qualities that make a good business person (who returns calls and emails promptly). My trial run with Kati was great. I appreciate how she constantly checks to see if things are going in the right direction. She listens and really tries to pinpoint the look you're after, rather than assuming you want the "it" style of the moment. Before she started, Kati did say something about my hair being "hard to work with" - this was in response to my comment that my first trial with another stylist hadn't gone well. Another reviewer mentioned that Kati said something similar, and she (the reviewer) interpreted the comment as "uppity". That reviewer was Latina, I'm Asian. Maybe Kati isn't used to minority hair? I don't know. I don't think Kati is uppity AT ALL. If anything, I think maybe she's trying to control expectations or something. Seems like an expression of nerves. Which you should ignore, because Kati is better than she thinks she is. (Note to Kati - Brides want to book a stylist who inspires confidence. From now on, I strongly feel you should say, "No hair is hard for Kati S. to work with.") I digress. So following my trial, I did have moments when I didn't get a timely response to my emails to Kati. At one point I may have emailed my MUA to make sure I had the right info. Turns out she was moving salons, and swamped, blah, blah, blah. With savvy business people, clients would never know this stuff, but again, see comment above re: hair stylists vs. business people. Cut to - Day of the wedding. HERE'S WHAT MATTERS: Kati was early. Kati had done her homework. I made some changes to the style I requested and she created something that was PERFECT. I call it HAIR ART. I will post pics when I get them. Did I mention she's also really cute and adorable? I'm not saying you should book your hair stylist because she's cute, but she's going to show up in some of your wedding photos - and looking cute don't hurt. Oh yeah, all my bridesmaids looked fantastic too. So did my mom. But seriously, would that have mattered if MY hair looked crappy? No. Good thing it looked amazing.
